Okay, this place is great, when they're slow. I went last night (Friday night) with my family. We had waited for an hour for our food, all we had was soup, and they got hit with a rush. Well the whole kitchen exploded. Everything was backed up and when they were sending plates out the servers didn't know where to go. My family and I decided to leave. Walking out to our car our server is crying/screaming at us to come back inside and that our food was now done (despite that a family of 4 who was there long before us hadn't even gotten their food yet). We tried to explain to her that we just weren't interested anymore and we wanted to go home, but she continued to cry and yell. After we told her no and that we'd like to leave 3 times she finally gave up. So yeah. Go here during the week, but unless you like crying servers begging you to eat their food, I'd suggest just go to Panda Express. read more

Moved to Tucson a year ago and this is by far the best Asian Takeout that we've had since being here. The prices are reasonable, customer service is great and the restaurant is clean! We will be eating here again. Only thing I noticed.. the crab puffs here in Tucson are different than in Florida.... Back home they are called Crab Rangoon and the crab meat filling has a sweet taste to it. I haven't been able to find anything close to that here. I also have not been able to find Duck sauce. This restaurant did not have any. However, those minor things will not interfere with us returning. read more

Hubs and I get take-out from here occasionally, and have eaten in a couple of times because we had a Groupon (which is only good for dine-in). No MSG is a big plus with us, and the things we've had have been very nice. Hubs says hot and sour soup is great, and I say the egg drop is okay. Rather thick and tastes like corn to me. There is corn in it, but that's all I taste. I just order hot and sour anymore, so hubs can have two. Rice, either steamed or fried are fine. Egg rolls are fine, wontons are fine (hard to mess those up!) Pepper steak is generous with the meat as is the broccoli beef. Cashew chicken is heavy on the water chestnuts. Sesame chicken is flavorful, as is Kung Pao chicken. Potstickers are really yummy! We didn't know what rice flour cakes were, so we looked them up online. (Not on their site, but a general search.) What we saw was a small, dessert-type cake, about the size of a petit-four. We ordered a couple to try, but got plain flat pancakes that you get with Mu shu. Maybe they should call them pancakes on the menu. Service when dining in can be inconsistent. Last time we ordered family style, so we could all try each other's food. The server did know to put the food in the middle so we could serve ourselves, but he seemed confused when we wanted serving spoons in every dish (not just some), AND plates and silverware for each of us! We had to ask for each thing, so it took him 3 trips back and forth just to make sure we all had plates, utensils and serving spoons. LOL We went a lot at first, but only occasionally now. Had an awful experience here a few days ago. We got in town late and wanted to find somewhere quick to eat. We were outside of the delivery area, so we placed an online order. The online ordering system is AWFUL. There are no item descriptions with any entree, so it was kind of a crapshoot ordering. The ordering system allows you to say how long until you will pick your food up, so we said 20 minutes. We ordered at 8pm and headed there. We arrived at 8:20 and not only was our order not ready, but there were other people standing around waiting on to go orders. There were a total of 4 patrons in the restaurant plus the two of us. The girl at the register was nice but young and clearly not trained to deal with unhappy customers. While we waited, I tried to order a bubble tea, but was informed they were out of the syrup for all flavors but that I could "come back tomorrow because the order was coming in the morning". First we were told that we were waiting on our lo mein to finish being prepared. Then they began telling everyone that we were now waiting on a new batch of fried rice. Every time we asked how much longer, we were told "five minutes at the most". They finally completed the order of the man before us, and a woman who I assume was a manager or owner, brought his food out to him, apologized profusely for the wait, and then informed him that his egg rolls were not in the bag but if he could wait they were packing them up right then. Why did they bring an incomplete order out to an already very angry customer? I guess they expected the extra egg rolls, not free or refunded but extra, should appease him. After getting the quickly becoming irate man out, they continued giving us excuses for why our food was still not ready. 8:45pm at this point. The girl at the register again told us 5 more minutes and that they were boxing up our food. Finally after wasting all of the time we had planned to use for the hot tub at our hotel, our food was ready. We had ordered a small appetizer sampler but wanted more than 2 crab rangoons/puffs so had gotten an order of those separately as well, which comes with 8. This was more than enough for two people, but they only come in an order of 8, so we didn't have much of a choice. The manager/owner lady brought our food to us and herded us toward the door as she informed us that she gave us a free order of crab puffs. So now we had a total of 18 crab puffs for two people. Obviously the free ones were a waste of food. After an hour wait for a to go order, I feel like perhaps a discount or refund is in order. At 9pm we headed back to our hotel and finally got to eat. The crab puffs were nothing special as was the egg roll, soup, chicken wing, etc. You have to ask for and pay extra for the little crispy things to put in your soup, so no word on the taste of those. Boyfriend had the bbq pork lo mein and said it was acceptable. Again, nothing special. I had the northern vegetables, which ended up being that vegetable entree that every Chinese buffet has that has that thick clear-ish sauce. It tasted like every other version of this dish I've ever had. Again, acceptable. Nothing about this meal made it worth an hour wait and the portions were less than generous compared to your average Chinese restaurant. Easily our least favorite restaurant on our entire week long road trip route. Even if I lived in Tucson, I would definitely not be a returning customer. read more

We, had gotten pretty good food from here before, HOWEVER, tonight I tried placing an order to 6 people-- prepared with everything written down - I get to a dish I've ordered several times, beef & snow peas, no bamboo shoots they want to charge $2 more ( first time for that!) Then I asked to have plain noodles instead of rice...last time I asked for that and they charged me $2 to do the switch out BUT didn't send them, THIS TIME they want to charge $4!!! #1 FLAW: "A" & "B" menu items - which are combo plates - If one diner orders from "A", it's MANDATORY for your companion diner to ALSO order from "A". Have not witnessed mandatory ordering rules yet. Never heard that before. New rule! Our waitress, barely able to explain anything in English, did tell us that her 'manager' requires BOTH diners to choose either "A" or "B". There's a $1.00 price difference between them. NO freedom to order from this menu. You must be a single diner to order freely. If there are TWO diners, you BOTH must choose "A" or choose "B", period. How very odd. No flavor - no ginger, no garlic, no sesame oil, no chili - only SWEET. Why do Chinese restaurants think ALL Americans want ULTRA sweet - swimming in SWEET? Requested EXTRA spicy & garlic, but that request was 100% ignored. No flavor! Only sweet, thick cornstarch shine - swimming in sweet, glossy shine. Both companion dining couples used Groupons. Owner yelled at us! Owner was visibly irritated that we used Groupons. She's the one that offered Groupon on Groupon! Doesn't that mean your business needs more business? Scary. My daughter and I both ordered Bobas for our drink order. Mine came out right away, but the Boba lady said she'd get to my daughter's as soon she had a chance. Our food (the large sampler appetizer, a large egg drop, and a large hot 'n' spicy soups) came out pretty quick, were hot, and good (this is the only reason I'm not giving them a one star). We had to remind them about halfway through dinner about my daughter's Boba (she said "I didn't forget about you", but no apology), and went back and appeared to start making it. After it appeared to be done she let it sit in the blender for another 15 min melting while we finished all our dinner. Then another gentleman finally brought it to us, still no apology. New Years Eve and fortunately for us they're open! I order expecting for my food to be delivered in 45-60 minutes and they took 40.. for my kids and I that's just great. Smells good in a big brown paper bag stapled shut. Plenty of food in each container and HOT and FRESH. We would've appreciated some sauces or hot sauce maybe sweet and sour with our egg rolls and chicken but we are very pleased here and we'll be ordering again soon. Last night I tried this place via delivery from Grub Hub. After reading the reviews here, I opted for combo lo mein. It was so saturated with salty soy sauce that I could barely eat it. If you LOVE SOY SAUCE then you will like their lo mein! I also ordered a small and sour soup. It was OK but nothing to write home about. The sweet and sour shrimp was OK. If you LOVE TEMPURA BATTER you will like their sweet and sour shrimp! Each small shrimp had a ton of batter around it making it appear three times its size. The fried rice had NO MEAT IN IT AT ALL, just rice with a few peas and carrots and the (very) occasional piece of egg. The star of the show was the crab puffs! They have onion in them which imparts a nice flavor. If I ever order from Bamboo View again (doubtful), I will definitely order these. Bottom line: This place is a pass in my book except for the crab puffs. read more

We came to Bamboo View the other night for dinner. I got the Mongolian beef dinner combo with fried rice, egg drop soup, egg roll, and crab puffs. My fiancé got the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, egg drop soup, egg roll, and crab puffs. Both dishes were really good and my finance said it was one of the best sweet and sour sauces he has ever had. The service was excellent and very friendly. Its a shame I have to rate this place with any stars.. Worst restraunt experience my family n i had ever had at a restaurant.. I truly try to be optimistic and understand when there are hiccups with just about anything.. But there was no doubt that this place, the bamboo view, was just out right awful... First we waited nearly 35 min just to order drinks, tried to order our appetizer, bit she abruptly left after the last drink was ordered.. Just over 20 min later when our drinks were brought to us (finally able to order our appetizer) we couldn't drink, they tasted horrible.. We put them to the edge of the table hoping to get the attention of our waitress.. We waited.. And waited.. And waited some more.. Almost 30 more minutes the waitress appears with our appetizer and informs us their soda fountain wasn't working right.. By now were already disappointed with our service.. But she informs us she will get us bottles from the cooler.. As we WAIT we dive into our appetizer only to realize we have no napkins, no silverware and no condiments (w should have paid closer attention when we sat ourselves at a table).. 10 min or so our drinks were brought in very large cups and we politely asked for napkins and silverware, by now condiments were on the back burner.. So an hr and 1/2 or longer we finally get order our meals.. While Waiting some more.. we noticed our drinks were off, once again, now tasting watered down.. Beyond irritated at this point.. Now about 20 min pass and 2 meals arrive, thinking the third meal will be along shortly we wait to eat until her meal arrives, almost 20 more min and they bring the third meal.. Not what she ordered, not on a sizzeling hot plate, the description of her meal didn't say anything about squid or octopus tentacles what so ever.. The three main meats were only suppose to be shrimp, scallops (had 3 extremely thin slices and were raw) and crab meat.. She's 14, hungry and takes a bite and nearly threw up.. As she just ate a tentacle..I asked the waitress to please bring me a menu, I wanted to double check my daughters selection.. We had enough, I approached the cashier, menu in hand, she hands me my bill and I said "I need to discuss a couple issues we had" in that moment she seemed to be cooperative.. I began with the drinks (we were charged 8.25 for) explaining they were not consumable, (oh I forgot to mention we asked for water we never received as well) and the cashier (now finding out she was also the manager) acknowledged their soda fountain was out but had no interest in discussing it any further, it was 8.25 for the drinks, moving on to my now biggest issue my daughters meal, showing her what she ordered off the menu and telling her what she received and it wasn't edible to her, she informs me that kind of item always comes with squid and octopus parts, firmly I explained then the description should include that, she would not have ordered the item (fairly pricyish) and I was informed I should have known that dish included those ingredients.. Beside my self she tells me she will take 1/2 off the price, I informed her she didn't even eat 1/2 and the dish was missing represented.. The phone rings and darn if she didn't answer and take an order right in the middle of our conversation.. She gets off the phn, yes now I'm mad as hell, and says to me, "this your first Time here" smiling as she is printing me up a receipt, I reply "yes and our last" she gave a 7$ discount and said I could add a tip at the bottom. ABSOLUTELY NOT, NO WAY IN HELL.. exhausted, disgusted and pissed to say the least, I paid n left.. Didn't even get to bitch about the service or the extreme lack of or the conditions of this place lol.. Mediocre at best. I ordered the following dinner combinations: House Special Lo Mein + Fried Egg Roll (x1) + Crab Puff (x2) + Fried Rice + Hour and Sour Soup (x1) The egg roll and crab puffs were in the same styrofoam container as the main dish and fried rice, so they were wet and soggy from the heat/steam. The fried rice was passable, the hot and sour soup was average, and the main dish was bland and swimming in oil. Additionally, of the 2 shrimps in my Lo Mein, 1 of them was not cleaned (it still had the vein in it). Beef Broccoli + Fried Egg Roll (x1) + Crab Puff (x2) + Fried Rice + Hour and Sour Soup (x1) The fried egg roll, crab puffs, fried rice, and soup in this combination, of course, had the same issues/characteristics as those with the Lo Mein dish. As for the beef broccoli itself, it was also bland and there was a lot of gristle in the beef. Overall, Bamboo View wasn't a good dining investment. It may not have been the worst food I've ever had, but it definitely wouldn't crack my Top 10. In other words, considering all of the good "fast casual" Chinese restaurants in town, there wouldn't be any reason at all for me to recommend or suggest this place. read more
