I enjoyed my visit to Bambu Desserts and Drinks. I ordered a #2 since I was familiar with most of the ingredients. A couple of the ingredients I was not and asked the girl behind the counter and she kindly explained. The drink came out quickly and looked great. Another girl with a great smile checked to see if I received the drink. The drink looked substantial with a lot of stuff in it. Upon drinking it, it tasted exquisite. The various jellies, taro with the coconut and ice came together nicely. To summarize I liked the staff. Girls very cute and friendly Place was clean Price was very reasonable. Drink tasted great. I forgot to ask her name since she wasnt wearing a name tag, called bambu this morning (930am) to ask for her name so i could include it in my yelp review, but was told rather rudely that "our employees dont have names"...which i found super odd.not like im asking for a full name,social security, and birthdate, just a first name. Bambu is a hidden gem in downtown Sunnyvale! I didn't even know it existed because it wasn't on the stretch of restaurants that line downtown (just across the Caltrain). It is a modern, clean-cut, no-frills cafe hidden on a back alley. Yet, it seems most Sunnyvalers know about this boba place. It's definitely not your typical boba shop because it also serves Vietnamese dessert drinks... For those of you wondering what that is, the best analogy I can think of is Cendol ( the popular southeast asian dessert). A dessert drink menu full of an assortment of Cendol and more... For those wondering what Cendol is ... it consist of green jelly noodles called Cendol that are made of mung bean flour and coloured with pandan essence. The drink is topped with coconut milk, shaved ice and palm sugar syrup over crushed ice. Think snow cone with toppings. We err on the side of caution this time and ordered black tea and jasmine tea boba. I preferred the latter, but I am definitely going back to try some of their awesome Vietnamese concoction! read more

The drinks here are always delicious. I especially LOVE that you can customize it to your own tastes. My favorite is the coconut smoothie, which I usually enjoy plain. This shop started me on a quest to find delicious ice dessert places near Palo Alto. Their dessert drinks are the best-- I've been searching all over for a place that does good rainbow drinks until someone finally introduced me to Bambu. I've been missing out. This restaurant takes the concept of rainbow drinks and takes it to a whole new level. For $4.25, you get a cup with coconut milk/water (I like coconut milk better for its milky-ness), ice, and an assortment of jellies, tapiocas, and beans. For $1 more, you can get a larger cup. I got the taro + coconut milk + pandu + red bean drink last time. Next time, I'll switch out the pandu for red tapioca (which is apparently a small, crunchy type of tapioca!), and use larger red beans (you can choose between large and small red beans). The best part of this shop is that if you don't like their pre-defined mix, you can always switch out one topping for another one at the same price. read more

BAMBU is good, no matter at what franchise location. I love the fact that you can customize your drinks; and the drinks are usually always made to perfection. This location is slightly more spacious that other ones, but parking is mostly street parking or in the Macy's lot. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. My one gripe about this place is that the prices here are higher than those of other locations. I paid $4.50 for a drink that I got at other locations for less than $4. Not sure if this is just because this BAMBU is new, but I don't think the price is worth it. read more

My first time at this place and I was pretty content. Lots of flavors to choose. I picked up a smoothie and was greeted with friendly service. There is a TV to watch and the area is pretty spacious with lots of seating. One thing that I noticed which was pretty gross: an employee picking another employee's pimple in the seating area?? I finally got to come to this location a couple days ago with my sister. The space is pretty big here as far as seating. Great couches for lounging. This location attracts company employees around the Sunnyvale area. The menu and taste should be exactly the same as any other BAMBU. The employees are young and full of youth which is great because it doesn't make things boring. This location is perfect during he summer time when people are going through the farmer's market and during busy lunch hrs. Great location in general! read more

Finally! A place where I can find vietnamese chè in Sunnyvale! I'm a huge fan of the Vietnamese dessert typically made with coconut milk and other delicious sweet goodies. Their BAMBU special #1 is a must have for any newbie. It gives you a great idea of what they have to offer without being too much or too unusual to handle. I've tried most of their offerings and am working my way slowly through their menu. I haven't found one that I haven't liked yet. I think it depends on your mood and how hungry you are. Some of these desserts can be quite filling and might be a meal on it's own. Having beans and milk in something totally counts as a well balanced meal, doesn't it? :) Prices are a bit expensive, compared to traditional places, but I can usually make mine stretch into two servings. read more

My prediction is this Bambu will be out of business soon enough just like the Cupertino which was their most popular store and the de Anza location which only opened for a couple months. Location here is great as more restaurants and stores are up and coming to the new dt Sunnyvale. Bambu, however is very inconsistent in their water down full of ice Che drinks. At almost $5 for a not so fresh drink, I'd rather walk to philz to get a cup of excellent coffee for $3-4. Another thing, it's just bad business to keep opening stores when you don't have enough leverage or incoming cash flow to keep up with the expensive monthly lease in this area. If you are losing business, best to have everything perfect for existing customers who DO still come here. But based on recent reviews, you just don't care. My last time coming. Ever read more

To start, the smell of this place. Holy cow- inhaling takes me into a a sweet dreamy candy land. It smells so freaking good!! The atmosphere in this place is adorable as well, I love the colors, lights, comfy chairs- my friends and I spent three hours here. The black milk tea is really yummy, you can really taste the quality tea flavor, and the sweetness level is good. Also the macaroons look adorable, and the workers are great! Went over there to order some Bambu Specials (#1 on the menu). The place itself is really nice and clean. The people were polite as well. They didn't take any cash at the moment so we paid credit. What was really disappointing was that the dessert didn't have a lot of coconut juice. It seemed like they substituted it with water sugar, which sucks because the coconut juice adds a lot of natural sweet flavor. There was about 2 pieces of coconut skin and 2 lychees! That's pretty sad considering the Bambu Special is now $5! Overall, disappointing trip to Bambu. =( read more

Never had a Bambu this terrible before. I ordered a Chè Sng Sáo and 2 passion fruit green teas with lychee jelly. The coconut milk wasn't even white- it was a brownish red color . The jelly tasted off- actually the entire cup tasted really gross. I'm not a fan of wasting food, but I had to chuck it. The taste was unbearable. I've ordered this drink before, in San Jose and Alameda, and they taste nothing like this one. As for the passion fruit green tea- I have no idea how or why it is bitter. There was only a hint of sweetness due to the lychee jelly syrup but that was it. Both drinks were a huge let down and most definitely not worth the $12 I spent. Slow non attentive service. I got my order somewhat quick while my friend's order came 10 minutes later. The jellies were not even cut and it was one giant clump in my dessert. WHERE CAN I GO TO WATCH WARRIOR's FINALS GAME? BAMBUUU WOO! Saw this bambu while moving into a new apartment in Sunnyvale and hoped that I could watch the last NBA game of the season to celebrate my new move in. Turns out, one of my favorite dessert places was showing the game! Like most of the Bambu locations I've been to, staff members were very friendly and the shop was clean and cozy. There are plenty of seats where you can relax and watch the game. As for the drinks, prices are a bit higher here than in the other NorCal locations but probably because of the Silicon Valley bubble. I saw that they had a new drink (Bambu speciality) and I got that. Drink was pretty good with a bit of a numbing aftertaste. Hit the spot for Asian dessert for less than $5. I ordered the #3, which is a happy melange of everything traditionally Vietnamese (coconut milk, red beans, mung beans, taro, green che jellies). The Good: - THE TARO BALLS, omigosh, each one was so perfectly soft and nuttily sweet. Absolutely perfect texture. If I could come back to order a giant cup of just taro balls, I would. - The cashier was knowledgeable and friendly. - Fast service. The Bad: - Wayyy too much shaved ice. My drink was like half ice, and I couldn't get to the good part until after I'd chipped away at the mini-glacier in my cup (regrettably filling my stomach and giving me a toothache in the process). My friend actually requested a separate cup to remove her snowball. - Watery coconut milk. Not sure if this was because too much ice had melted into it or what. - Inconsistent texture on the green che jellies. I had been looking for this drink everywhere! I was so excited to come here and find it. It is dessert drink, here it is their #10. I was not as impressed with the taste of the coconut milk though. It was not as sweet as I am use to and it actually tasted like soy milk. The red pieces were a little hard, the mung bean pretty much just fell apart, and the grass jelly was fine. I'm not the biggest fan bubble tea, but a lot of the people I spend time with are. As such, I get dragged to these types of places, which, most of the time, also serve regular smoothies. I can only speak for the strawberry smoothies here, which I've only had on two occasions. The first time I had it, it was pretty good. The second time I had it, it was lacking flavor and tasted more icy than anything. On the bright side, this place is very clean looking and the service is nice. The drink orders take a bit to churn out, but I've never been in here where it's been super busy or anything. I love this Bambu. At other places I had to pay extra for coconut juice instead of coconut milk, but here she didn't charge me. I ordered the number 10 and added basil seeds. So good!!! I usually wait for the ice to melt a bit before drinking just so it's diluted and less sweet. Here I didn't have to wait! It was literally perfect immediately when served. The girl working there was super nice even when it was really busy. There are some comfy couches in the back which would be great to hang out at. So far this is my favorite bambu! read more

I never got charged for $11.50 for 2 smashed avocado ( usually its $4.25-4.50 range) Drinks came out, disappointed the way they made it, they kind blended the avocado gently, it was not handmade smashed avocado that i was craving for :( I would rate 2 star, but i jus hate doing that to businesses.. I don't have much to say about this place. I'm not crazy about boba in general though I do occasionally like to try different drinks. I came here to meet up with friends in the area so I'm glad they had a nice area inside to sit and lounge around. As for the actual bubble tea, I ordered just the black milk tea and it was just okay. I've definitely had better boba in the South Bay/East Bay area so maybe I was being a little picky but none of my friends really enjoyed any of their drinks so maybe not. I tried one of my friend's jasmine milk tea and it was excessively sweet - so much so that it was actually unpleasant to drink. While I've been to countless boba shops before, this was my first time at any Bambu location. Their menu selection is nice, ranging from their well-known Che dessert drinks, coffee (they have an espresso maker), smoothies, and regular/milk teas. I didn't know what to expect from the Che, but I knew it was their signature item so I ordered the #6: Fruit Addict. As if the drink descriptions don't warn you, don't order any of these unless you like coconut milk. The drink consists of all of the squishy and slippery toppings mixed in with coconut milk, topped off with unflavored shaved ice. Although I was skeptical, the drink was delicious!
