Service is quick since they already have it pre-made and in the fridge and all that needs to be added is the liquid. I've been here a couple of times and I've tried their desserts #2 and #6. Dessert #2: red bean, white bean, green/mung bean, taro, pandan jelly, pearl, and combo jelly.I liked this dessert but I personally thought it had too much bean so I don't think I would get this one again; not much of a fan of a lot of beans. Went here for a drink after picking up some banh mi in the same plaza. It was noisy and full of kids running around mostly unattended and screaming/yelling. The place smelled bad for some reason (it was stinky). I ordered the dragonfruit mango refresher because I saw a photo of it advertised by the register and it looked good. However, when I received my order it looked really different from the photo. It was a lot less vibrant and was much thinner, with very very little dragonfruit; the drink was mostly just tea and sweetener (and it was too sweet, even though I ordered it with 25% sweetness), with bits of unripe mango floating around, which were hard and sour. This is the best place in Sacramento for boba and Vietnamese desserts. Some people may argue that due to all the other boba/tea/Asian dessert shops around, but I would 10 times rather come to Bambu than any of those other stores. As a lover of boba and milk tea, I've tried many other places in Sacramento, but have not found a place I like better than Bambu. Oddly, I usually don't like coconut, BUT the BEST drink on the menu is the coconut milk tea because they use fresh coconut (they even put a piece of the coconut in your drink). It is very refreshing and delicious...you won't regret ordering it! If you don't like your drink too sweet, ask them to make it less sweet and more tea. It will be perfect. Bambu also has a huge variety of Vietnamese desserts with coconut milk, red beans, mung beans, pandan, grass jelly, etc, etc. Even with this huge selection of Vietnamese desserts on the menu already, incase there is not one that perfectly suits your stomach's desire, they let you customize your dessert (add/subtract ingredients) just the way you like, with no extra charge. The drink selection they offer to their customers is great, and the prices they charge for them are very reasonable. I work right down the street from this location and come here often (despite my check amounts, didn't have a yelp account back then. Lol) If I did you can see how many times I have been here, especially because my gf loves this establishment. I only have one suggestion for this location and that would only to be more open minded with their entertainment that they display. Don't get me wrong, it's not my business to run or my culture to dictate, but it would be nice to come in a see something different playing on their tv than the same musical stage performance that they have playing every time I come in. My lady is viet so she always gets those fancy desserts that include either the basil, jelly's, Logan's, litchi, red tapioca, and coconut. Me on the other hand, I get the smoothies and I have tried a wide selection ranging from: strawberry, strawberry banana, raspberry, and avocado. I also tried some coffee drinks ranging from: white mocha, Vietnamese coffee, and the vanilla latte. Every drink I tried was really good and I will always come back! This place is usually always packed. I haven't really tried any other drinks except for their Bambu Special bc that's my favorite drink there. Although the drink is pretty sweet, i like the fact that I can drink it half way and then add water too it and it would still taste delicious. Even if you saved this drink for the next day it still tastes delicious and fresh. Just make sure to eat all the pandan jelly as that will not taste as good the next day like the other items that are added. There is a wide variety of che and other drinks on the BAMBU menu. My favorites are the BAMBU special and the che trai cay. The BAMBU special consists of fresh coconut, pandan jelly, longan, basil seed, and coconut water. The coconut and coconut water are always fresh. The che trai cay come with a variety of fruits and other ingredients: lychee, longan, red tapioca, jackfruit, palm seed, jello, pandan jelly, coconut, and coconut milk. Out of the many places I have tried, BAMBU makes the best bo dam (smashed avocado). They use fresh avocado and the drink itself is at the right amount of sweetness. They add pearls, dark brick, and combo jelly, which give you nice textures to chew on and consume. The che and drinks here are incredibly refreshing. They are Asian-inspired, so don't come here expecting completely authentic Vietnamese che. They instead created unique che drinks. I been going to Bambu for some years now. The drinks are great, and they do stay pretty busy. I'm not into their dessert options but I do love their drinks! My absolute favorite thing to get there is Thai Tea and the reason why I love their Thai Tea is because the texture is thick. As to where a lot of other places, their Thai teas are just watery and I can't taste no cream or anything. That's just my personal preference. My second absolute favorite thing to get there and what I mainly have been getting is their chocolate blended. It's sooo good and the ice is blended so good, smooth and fine. It doesn't melt right away like Starbucks frapps, sorry Starbucks being honest here! All the drinks price around $5 which I think is worth it because whether you get a medium or large you most definitely get your moneys worth. They do the perfect ice to liquid ratio. It has been a really time since I have came here, but on this occasion i'd say it wasn't half bad as I remembered. Reminiscing on my past visit, I came with a few friends and they had me try the most bitter tasting vietnamese coffee. This time however, I tried the hazelnut coffee because I was tired and it was supposedly made with espresso. When I arrived, the shop inside was completely dead. After ordering my drink, I unexpectedl recieved my drink incredibly fast (less than 1min). What this means is that espresso coffee pre-made, possibly even made with instant espresso. The coffee itself is quite bitter, acidic, with a slight hazelnut aftertaste. Pros: *bang for your buck $4.75 for a drink filled to the brim *lots of boba Lots of ice to dilute the bitter coffee Cons * customer service is hit or miss *The iced coffee is too acidic, it left a burning sensation after a few hrs. As a self confessed milk tea boba addict, I was eager to try Bambu based on the reviews and the delicious looking pictures. This is a cozy little shop with small tables and high counters. It was fairly busy when I arrived, filled with families and kids. I had to read the menu as I had never ordered at Bambu before and there are at least 1000 different combinations you can try. The toppings are never ending and include everything from big boba to basil seeds to logan and a few other items I had never heard of. They have combinations on the menu, or you can make your own concoction. I have a strong feeling this is a place more for "dessert" rather than just slushies and teas, as most of the combinations had at least four toppings or puddings and you eat them with a spoon. While these look good, I wanted something more simple. I ordered a jasmine milk tea with extra boba, simple enough, and the person behind the counter asked if I was sure that was what I wanted. Yes, I am sure. I was asked, but don't you want anything else? No, I am good. I paid and moved aside, only to have this person spit out, " move!". Not the best impression. I received my tea in approximately 5 minutes, they were busy so I understand it took time. I went to the car eager to try my drink. One sip was all it took. I almost gagged on how strong it was. It tasted like strong, dirty soap, if one were to eat dirt with soap! I know teas can sometimes have slight flowery/soapy taste, especially Jasmine, but this was awful. Terrible, strong, pungent, dark and well, soapy. Little milk flavor. I tried a second sip with the boba and wanted to spit it out. The boba had taken on the soap flavor and was super soft and falling apart. I tossed it. I hate wasting food. It irks me to pay for something and then have to throw it out. If not, you can have one of their coffee, smoothie or a boba drink. There is a lot of variety in the desserts so be adventurous!
