I got the drink #2 and asked if I could replace the beans in the drink (red bean and mung bean). The lady taking my order was being unhelpful and saying that is how the drink is and replacing both bean toppings with another singular topping would be extra. That didn't make sense to me so I just ordered the drink as is. Although I am not the most fond of beans, I am not over exaggerating when I say half my cup was full of bean + paste. The amount of red bean paste made the entire drink taste like red bean and was extremely thick. It was like I was drinking a thick soup rather than a nice coconut drink with toppings. I've gotten their avocado smash in the past and loved it, but I am very disappointed in the service and quality of drink today. read more

This is not about their food, it's about their services. I called to order and they asked what time I would be there. Told them 15-20 mins. After 20mins I arrived at the store and my order wasn't ready. The people in front of me who was ordering when I came in got their order first. What's the point to take order over the phone then. The girl who takes the order is also rude. Another time, I ordered 2 #10 and asked for no ice. They came out with ice. Kudos to Bambu for their great drinks, desserts, and staff. Especially their great staff. The stark face of it is that it's easier to find delicious, more ethnic, desserts in Silicon Valley and the Bay Area. It's easier to find different kinds of dessert in California, period. At least, that's my perspective as someone who lived in Indiana for four years just as bubble tea started getting popular (it's honestly not as long ago). Long story short, lots of competition and Bambu has really managed to flourish over the years, so kudos and thank you for further bringing Vietnamese desserts into the spotlight. This location is convenient for me. No doubt considering they're located near a large amount of bigger companies, as well as almost right next to Ranch 99. The crowd there is a mix of salary workers, families, and elderly. I went there with a new coworker/friend at her recommendation. I'm sorry to say that I haven't tried Bambu's stuff for a while now (again, Indiana), and I'm glad I got to eat some of their desserts again. Loved my friend's che trai cay, but I also don't regret getting my orange thriller smoothie. Midway through work, it really hit the spot for me. But see, here's where the interesting spot came in. The custodian who works in my office has been feeling pretty shitty lately. Pneumonia, pains, her cousin got into an accident, and a splitting migraine that has been bothering her all the while. None of which she can go to a doctor for because she can't afford insurance and has no food until her paycheck comes in. But she still continues coming to work everyday and takes care of everything by herself. So I thought I'd get her a drink while I was out. Urm....but I only had a credit card and didn't realize that there's a $10 minimum limit (as warned by the little note taped next to the wifi password and both on the right side of the register). Oops. So I ended up having to buy my drink, her drink, and my friend's drink just in order to pay. Specifically, I got our custodian a raspberry smoothie because she's a bit warier of things she hasn't tried but I've seen her drink Jamba Juice Razzmatazz. But that means we were sitting there for a while to finish our drinks, and that raspberry smoothie was melting as we tried to hurry along. After a while, the employee who was working the register came over and offered to put it in the fridge for us until we needed to leave. And that's what we did. That level of consideration was wonderful, and both I and our custodian really appreciated it. She absolutely loved the raspberry smoothie. All the love for Bambu! XD read more

BEST DESSERT DRINKS EVERR!! Atmosphere: It's a very clean and bright place, but I wouldn't say that I'd go there to study. It's more of a place to relax and people watch if anything. Staff: The staff are extremely fast and efficient when it comes to getting their orders done. I've had a couple of times where they messed up my drink, but they'll go back and fix it for you right away, so it's totally fine. Food: Their dessert drinks are the only ones that I drink. I love their Bambu special (coconut juice, coconut, pandan jelly, basil seeds, longan). It's super refreshing and perfect for a hot day. There avocado special (#4) is a close runner up for me. Pandan jelly is so delicious, chewy and fragrant. It's my favorite ingredient of all the Che drinks. The avocado smoothie tastes very fresh and tastes like they use a good amount of real avocado in there instead of diluting it too much. The boba is nice and chewy. However, this last time, the lid of the drink had some dirty sticky red stuff on it. Maybe the worker's glove was dirty. Coconut milk, ice, pandan, jelly, green beans, red beans, but the manner in which each component is made, maintained throughout the day, and assembled as a whole makes a world of difference to the discerning Che lover. Bambu brings consistency and convenience as they have several locations throughout the Bay Area. Is it the best Che in town, not really, but what they offer in a stable product is always worth a visit for me when I'm in the mood. My go to is a combination of whole green beans, pandan jelly, red tapioca in coconut juice. They also offer a broad selection of other desserts, ranging from fruit smoothies, milk teas, to ice cream macaron sandwiches. Service has always been friendly and cheery. I like this place. They have a nice interior despite having a small space, the staff has a good work traffic space so they dont bump to each other while taking the orders on the line that we have. The service was smooth and fast, so I was impressed. Never had a vietnamese che before (except for the special drink another store offers tho they never mentioned it was a che) so I opted to try the number #6 which has the Lychee, longan, tapioca, jackfruit, palm seed, pandan jelly, jello and young coconut. All that goodness cramped in a plastic cup flavored sweetly with syrup and coconut milk and that heavenly fine shaved ice (snow like texture) won me over. The blend of flavors of the #4 Che Combo really hit the spot. It was a mix of: +grass jelly +red tapioca +mung bean +some coconut-ey jelly +pandan (or is this the coconut-ey jelly?) all over condensed milk and ice! Everyone seems to love this place! Their Vietnamese desserts are definitely something to try if you haven't had them before. Even if you HAVE had them before, try them again from here! They have all those fancy 3-color drinks and other stuff you get in fancy glass cups while at Vietnamese restaurants, but now you can grab one to go anytime! Anytime except Mondays though, I think they're closed that day. Or maybe it's another day, I'll go back and check. My favorite ingredients for drinks will always be their grass jelly and the yummy little red tapioca things. If you're new, try those with the pandan jelly and some other fun stuff! Their coffee and smoothies aren't bad either, I don't think you can go wrong with their menu! The avocado dessert drink was a bit too much for me, but their mango smoothie with mango jelly is suuuuper good! And sweet, it's mostly sweet, but I like sugar so that worked out. After my last angry review from last week I decided to give Bambu another chance to redeem itself. Boy was I disappointed. This time I came and ordered Che Sung Sa Hot Lu with Banh Lot. Last time I came here I got angry because they did not have any Banh Lot ready prior to their opening. This time they FORGOT to put BANH LOT in my Vietnamese dessert. I specifically ordered Sung Sa hot lu with Banh Lot. I did not realize this mistake until I got home and started eating my dessert.After spooning the dessert twice I found no banh lot. ;( My mistake for not opening they bag at the store to check if my order was right. I'm still a little bitter because they did not have banh lot last time I came and they forgot to put it in this time. I really like the durian/avocado smoothie here though. There are two drinks & treats stores next to each other in a strip mall. How do you choose which one to try? Look for the one with the larger crowd. That was how we got to Bambu. And, we were not disappointed. This treat store is small, the counter and the treats prep area take more than half of the store space. So, it only has a small number of tables and chairs. Consider yourself lucky to get a table. The employees at the counter were courteous, but could have been friendlier. Maybe, they were a bit impatience because people were standing in line longer; looking at the large menu board with so many choices. The store is interesting though as they focus on offering the exotic south east Asia fruit drinks; drinks that contain interesting ingredients such as durian, fresh coconut meat, passion fruit, pandan juice etc. Of course, not every ingredients are for everyone. If you've been to any of the Bambu's, then you know they are franchised so the drinks aren't always consistent from one location to the next. This Bambu is the original one and run by the founders. The drinks are the best of all the locations of course so I make the effort to drive a bit further to get the quality and freshness. My favorite is the Bambu Special (#1) which comes with Pandan jelly, basil seeds, longan, fresh coconut in coconut juice. It is refreshing and not too heavy or overwhelming. The taro smoothie is pretty good along with their milk teas. I don't go here for the latter though. Parking is a pain in the butt during peak hours (Thanks a lot Gen Korean BBQ). Credit cards accepted if more than $10. The ladies working here are nice and happy substitute items in the drink you might not like. Closed on Mondays unless it's a national holiday, then they are open. read more
