This is by far my favorite Thai place to eat at with tons of trips for lunch and dinner. Everyone knows me and my typical order when I come in which is pretty cool. The atmosphere is very cozy and inviting with music playing in the background and did very well given their space. The food is fantastic where the dishes are served with your preference to spice hotness. I stick to the middle spice hotness. The menu is broad covering Thai chicken to beef dishes even veggie diet ie curry flavored chicken. I love the super swee Thai ice tea to go with my meal and who doesn't? During lunch, your lunch comes with a complementary delicious clear ginger broth and not sure the exact name but it is fantastic! The Tom Kha is one my favorite soups they serve. To me, there isn't a bad dish on the menu, but I stick to the fried rice, curry chicken, Tom Kha soup. I have had the crouching tiger beef meal for dinner and it was great. The customer service is very friendly and they are prompt in making your meal or drinks whether at their alcohol bar or dining at the tables. In addition, they are prompt in checking out your tab so if you need a quick lunch this place will do just fine with great food! To put it plain & simple, I dig Bambu!! It will take something very drastic to rate it less than 5 stars. I've been coming here for awhile and have always had great service. The food is always fresh - my go to meal is the Pineapple Fried Rice. They allow you choose what spice level you want which ranges from 1-5. I enjoy a bit of kick so I'll get a 4 which is not that spicy and is a great enhancement. I tell everyone I can about this place because of the food & service. It's quaint & comfortable with a quality menu. Try this place & you will soon become a regular like I did. read more

I have been to Bambu since the first day it opened. And I have fallen in love! It have gone to Bambu at least once a week for 3 years. Every time I have come, they have had something new for me to try. I have many favorites, but one of which I can pronounce or spell. Every time we go, we stay till closing time. After we have finished our meal, we sit and talk with the owners of Bambu, Shelly and Jason. The service is wonderful! They remember us each time and know what we want to order. Also,You can spend hours looking at the beautiful tapestries that hang from the olive green walls. This place is pricey for the amount of food they give, although it might have been because we got some food to go. Went to dinner the other night with high expectations from the reviews I had read. I thought the service was excellent. The waitstaff was very attentive and the food was brought promptly. We had the steamed dumplings as an appetizer and they were solid, but not spectacular. We had three entrees, Panang Curry with chicken, Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mow with chicken (5 stars). I thought that the Pad Thai and the Pad Kee Mow were above average, but the Panang Curry was far below average. It just seemed to be missing something and the flavors were not as rich as they should be. Additionally, each dish was very skimpy with the amount of chicken included and the overall portions were among the smallest we've ever had. Overall, it will not be a destination spot for us as there are multiple Thai restaurants in the metroplex that we prefer. But if you live close by and have no problems with the concerns listed, then you will most likely enjoy your meal. read more

After wanting to try this place for so long, I came here with my family for my birthday dinner. It was pretty packed but the wait was only 10 minutes. The place is small but very cute and I loved all the paintings on the wall. The service was on point. The dishes we ordered were flavorful. We had the crab fried rice, the pad kee mao, pad suki, crying tiger beef, green curry rice and something with mussel that was on their board. The crab fried rice was delicious. My sister believes that a Thai place is only good if their crab fried rice is good and she said it was one of the best she had. The crying tiger beef was good and the presentation was cute. The sticky rice came in a little bamboo container. It was so cute, I wanted to take the container home! The green curry rice and pad kee mao were delicious as well. As for the pad suki, I don't like beam curd personally but the others that did at the table did find it to their liking. As for the mussels, a little on the salty side for me. I did however wished I didn't have to share the other dishes since they were so good! With that being said, I went again that same week and had the crab fried rice. Omg it was as good as I remembered and this time, no sharing! Plus an egg roll and soup during lunch. Hell yeah. I didn't have the same server unfortunately but the server I did have was just as nice. Will be coming back soon! read more

Lucky for Bambu, my reviews always favor food quality over service, otherwise, this would have been a three star review. Our lunch experience, which began at 1:30, took over an hour and a half, and I still don't know why. Sure, there were other patrons, but it didn't seem that busy. Still, the staff was friendly and courteous, and even offered us a complementary order of dumplings to apologize for our wait. When the food did come, it was pretty good. The above mentioned dumplings were delicious, stuffed with a shrimp and chicken mixture. The accompanying sauce was a little too sweet, but had a nice flavor. Fish cakes were delicious as well, but again, the sauce was a bit sweet. Chicken fried rice was better than average, with good quality chicken. My main course was the green curry with beef, with a heat level of 4 on a 5 star scale. The dish did deliver on the heat; 5 might have been too much even for me. The curry itself was delicious, as were the vegetables. If there was the slightest knock, the beef was just a tad tough, but it tasted good and had no "undesirable parts". Spring rolls were a little thin and not too remarkable. Perhaps best of all, they whipped up a dish for one of our diners who requested scallops that had kaffir lime, vegetables and a nice stock based sauce; he thought it was very good and it certainly looked nice. I'd definitely go here again if I were in the neighborhood, but I hope today's service anomaly was just that. read more

When I went into Bambu during my lunch hour I was quickly seated at the bar. I thought that I would be served fairly quickly since I immediately ordered a pad thai after being seated, but I was wrong. Having been sat at the bar, I unfortunately had to watch food that wasn't mine go out of the kitchen and get served. I watched as a group of four and another couple, who were seated AFTER me, get their food served BEFORE me, finish their meal, pay, and then leave the restaurant. When the server was serving the couple who was sitting next to me, he gave me a smile and said that my food was coming up. At that point I had waited about 30 minutes already. After the server gave me some reassurance that my food was coming out soon, he avoided eye contact and turned his back towards me until the end, when he very quickly handed me my check. My food finally came out 15 minutes later, miraculously cold after coming from the kitchen, with a stray string bean in the mix, and without an ounce of spice (that I had asked for when the server asked me how spicy I wanted the dish) to combat the overbearing sweetness of the entire thing. In the restaurant, they display an award for having "the best pad thai," but I don't understand why. The portion is extremely small and I only had three slivers of chicken in my "chicken pad thai." There's nothing to talk about besides the lack of ingredients and flavor. Since I waited so long to get my food, I took three small bites(I mean small because I was so disappointed in the establishment and its food) and had to ask for a to-go box so that I could bring it back to my office. The portion that was given to me (minus three small bites) filled LESS THAN HALF of a very small Chinese take-out container (maybe 8oz?). There are much better places in the area to eat Thai food, and I wish I would have gone to another place to eat for lunch. read more

We picked this place purely based on a search of "BYOB restaurants." Surprise surprise! No corking fee!! Woohoo! I'm not an expert in Thai art, but the interior decorations made me want to go to Thailand even more. Everyone who worked at the restaurant was super nice and we never had to ask for any service. They were just always there. Even just to have a couple ol' drinks, this place is awesome. Then Bambu hits you with yet another surprise. The food is amazing! To begin the meal, we had the appetizer special of grilled baby octopus. It's got a chewy texture that is similar to squid. Coming off the grill, it's healthier that fried, but just as delicious. It came with two dipping sauces. The first was a raspberry flavor and the second tasted like some variety of spicy italian dressing. My first sip of the Po-Thak Soup was a pleasant surprise. It is a soup with seafood, galangal, lemongrass, and basil. My God. What a refreshing soup that would be welcomed in the summer or the winter. The flavor was sharp enough to grab your attention, but not to the point of irritation at all. Top 5 soups in Dallas!! I had the Green Curry for my meal, which was standard, but delicious. Some would cry out against ordering fried rice, but here it was exceptional. Expectations exceeded. The Crying Tiger Beef with sticky rice was also noteworthy. I have been a customer of Bambu for 10 years. The food has always been good. Today I walked in at lunch, and I was by myself. Even though half the tables were empty the host refused to seat me at a table. The only place he would allow me to sit was the bar. At 65 years old I don't want to sit on a barstool. I could understand if the place was full, but as I said half the tables were empty. This doesn't make sense to me. Furthermore his attitude was take it or leave it. This used to be our "go to" place for Asian food when we lived in Richardson 2 years ago. We came back today and did a pick up order. Got our previous favorites and it was absolutely horrible. NO TASTE at all (and we don't have COVID). Serving size was also about 1/2 the size of precious dine in orders. Unfortunately will be moving on from this place in the future. First of all I love this place and I have been going here for the past few years with my dad it is one of our first choices for asian food. Those places made me feel extremely comfortable considering Covid-19. Me and my dad went in today and we ordered inside and then went out to our car and they took the food to our car which I thought was very nice we didn't have to wait. We have also eaten inside multiple times and we were separated from others we are required to wear a mask which I greatly appreciated. Just overall a great restaurant. read more

Living in Dallas I've looked for a restaurant of similar quality, and this is it. This is not from the same part of Thailand. It's quality first over quantity. I'm certainly returning. I've tried a lot of Asian cuisine places wherever I go (traveling, when I'm in my college town etc.) because pad thai is literally my favorite dish and I can't go 1 week without eating it. I've been a loyal customer of Bambu for over 2 years! They've never disappointed me, not even during this crazy time of a pandemic. The BEST pad thai I've ever had: and I have a lot of pad thai. I usually take it to go so It's been a long time since I've dined in, even before the pandemic. From what I remember service has always been great for dine in and take out!
