Yum! I got the key lime pie, and it was delicious, but warning, the raspberry sauce on top is tart, which is great if you're into that. The ones with me got crème brûlée and crepes. No one had any negative things to say and all plates were cleaned afterward. read more

Every time I come to Key West I'm super excited and look forward to Sunday brunch at this place. The wait is about 20-25 minutes long. Sometimes less. I don't make reservations (not sure if they even do that), but it's worth the wait. I usually come with someone else and we order 2 separate entrees and split the plates. The breakfast potatoes are so good we have to automatically order an additional side. I have to say the shrimp Benedict is by far one of my favorites, BUT I've had lunch food here y'all and the savory crepes are amazing! They do amazing coffees and have a very festive collection of mimosas and sangrias. I've had all 3 and loved every single one! This place is very busy on Sunday mornings, but I love people watching. If possible, try and get a seat on the balcony. Lots of traffic from passerbyers to enjoy glazing at while you're waiting on your food. read more

My family came to Banana Cafe for breakfast and we were quickly seated upstairs and outside. The servers were attentive and the menu very interesting. I ordered the inside out Benedict and a side of breakfast potatoes. The Benedict was within a crepe and had this delicious sauce on it. The potatoes were crispy and had this great aioli on them. Both were delicious. One of my daughters got the waffles with bananas and they were fabulous even if you aren't a huge banana fan. My other daughter ordered a croissant sandwich, which she loved. My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich, which he liked. It was a great experience and we will definitely visit again if we come to Key West. read more

Let me start by saying, it hurts to give this place 2 stars, but it feels necessary. We had very high hopes for this place, and wish the whole experience would have been a lot better. We came in for breakfast around 9:45. The cafe was understandably busy, but we got seated right away. This is when things started to go downhill. After about 15 minutes, we were finally greeted by our waitress. She got our drink orders in, and we did not see her for another 15 minutes. She came back to put our food order in, still no drinks. Mind you, this place is all open air and gets pretty toasty on a July morning. Another 15 minutes go by, the waitress finally brings us our drinks. I ordered a spiked coffee and could barely drink it as it tasted like it had been sitting on the bar for a long while. (Iced coffee and milk don't pair well with the Key West heat). As we are waiting on our food, two separate parties get seated near us. Waiting...... Waiting...... Waiting...... The other two parties get drinks, and it is important to note are being served by the same waitress. Waiting...... We mention to our waitress it has been quite a while, and she tells us she is going to check on our order. She returns shortly only to give us a big thumbs up. We guess it is coming out shortly. (Lie number one). Waiting..... The other two parties receive their food orders! My husband then flags down another employee to ask for the manager. At this point we had been at this restaurant for a solid hour. We also had reservations for a jet ski tour at noon, and at this point we just wanted to know if we were going to get food at all. The employee my husband flagged down turned out to be the owner. We explained the situation, and she immediately went to the kitchen to check on things. Waiting..... Our waitress comes out to tell us that "somehow there was a mistake and the order didn't get put in right" (Lie number 2). Waiting.... The owner returns to tell us her waitress actually NEVER put in the order, and that they are pushing our food to the front right away. She also tell us breakfast is on her and that we would not be paying for our meal. We were very appreciative of this and felt that the owner really tried to make it right, however after our waitress' multiple lies, we were really frustrated. We received our VERY simple order at around 11:20, 1 hour and 20 minutes after it was put in. The food was actually really good. The breakfast croissant was tasty with the croissant being perfectly flaky. The house potatoes were yummy with a great house sauce to dip them in. If this had been the end of the fiasco, our review would not be as low. Unfortunately, the waitress from hell continued to badger us with annoying excessive apologies and would not leave us alone to eat!!! She was very handsy, which was not welcome after her lies and the frustrating wait in the hot and humid weather. Then to top it off, the waitress still tried to take our card to pay!!!!!! The owner luckily came by and put a stop to that and again said we were not paying for breakfast due to the mistakes made. We really had high hopes for this place. I don't know if I would swear it off forever, but the experience really ruined it for us. read more

Small French cafe on Duval. Indoor and patio seating that is full during peak meal times. I had the Tuna Steak Nicoise Salad w/toasted baguette side. I ordered my tuna rare and it came out perfectly cooked and the blackened seasoning had just the right amount of heat to flavor without overpowering. This salad also has anchovies which the lime vinaigrette balances well. Love these salty little fish! The service here was friendly and attentive. Hope to return before I leave! read more

We were seated inside which was nice because it was an unseasonably hot day in February. I was in desperate need for an iced coffee and got that immediately which totally hit the spot. I ended up getting another "to-go" when leaving. For brunch, so many things looked good but I finally decided on the La Chicken Cordon Blue. I love Cordon Bleus so I was intrigued as to how it would be in a crepe. It was ah-mazing!! The chicken was grilled and sautéed rather than fried pieces of chicken, which was even better. The food was good but I wouldn't go back, the waitress we had wasn't too nice and when I asked her specific menu questions, was just like it's a sauce. If a waitress doesn't know the ingredients of a menu item, I think that they should ask the chef and come back with an answer instead of saying it's just a sauce and she didn't even bring water until we asked her. We stopped for breakfast yesterday. There was only a wait of a few minutes and we sat at the bar. We ordered a pitcher of mango sangria which we had before, and know it's delicious, RJ ordered the seafood omelet and I ordered the seafood crepe. The bartender did a great job of taking care of us, and service was terrific. The sauce on my crepe was mouthwatering, and there were large scallops, shrimp, and chunks of crabmeat. RJ's was pretty amazing, too. I think I won this round of who ordered the best thing, but he thinks he did. read more
