Phenomenal little bar that felt like a mini rooftop hideaway once you get inside. It's upstairs in a shared mini upscale food court with an urban rooftop lounge area. My friends and I came to get a couple more rounds of drinks and gab after dinner close by. Bar Bohemian was a somewhat busy bar at times given it was a Saturday night, but luckily did not turn into another one of those annoying nights where you have to go on a whole side quest every-time you are try to get another round. The inside area is somewhat consolidated, but luckily We had chose on the lone round couch table that the 10 of us squeezed in at. We hammered down a few different cocktails and some of their lagers. i appreciated the bartenders' consistency. All cocktails were exceptional through out the almost 2 hours we were there! To me, the outside area was most appealing. It was faintly giving the rooftop from the old Nickelodeon show "Hey Arnold" with its outdoor urban setting. It also had a good amount of comfy couches, some heaters, and high skinny tables. It was social, mildy romantic and certainly a warm ambiance. My socios and I had dinner in Culver City, and we wanted to hit up a bar afterwards. We were near the Culver Hotel, and BB was a stones throw away. We were glad we hit it up. You had to get your own drinks, but the bartenders were cool. In addition, the DJ was dropping some nice beats on a warm summer night. BB is a rooftop bar and everyone was enjoying the open air atmosphere. There were plenty of hightops to chat with your friends, or in the case of many peeps who just stood around. The only downside I noticed was BB is in a communal area w/ a food hall. The restrooms are downstairs and a long hike from the front. I look forward to hitting up BB the next time I am in Culver City. Many aspects of the place are nice and chill. read more

Bar Bohemien is located on the second floor of the Citizen Public Market in downtown Culver City. I parked in the multi-level garage next to Trader Joe's on the corner of Culver Blvd and Washington Blvd. This lot is very inexpensive, and the walk to the market is only a few minutes. When you enter the front of the market, turn right and you'll see the Bar Bohemien neon sign and the stairs. The bar occupies the entire second floor and roof. At the top of the stairs is the bar and some inside seating. Our primary reason for coming here was the rooftop seating, and it definitely did not disappoint. The patio is a long wood floored area with very comfortable orange outdoor couches along each side. It is mostly shaded with tall plants on each side, and there are heat lamps for chilly evenings. We visited on a late Sunday afternoon with nice weather, and it was a really great atmosphere. I always pre-scout the menu before going somewhere for the first time, so I had my heart set on a few drinks. Unfortunately, they changed the entire drink menu and not updated their website yet. After quickly skimming over the new menu, I ordered the Raspberry Beret, but they were out of the ingredients to make that. I finally grabbed us two drinks and went back up to our spot on the roof. My first cocktail was the Kiwi Be Loved (gin, chareau aloe liqueur, faccio brutto centerbe, kiwi, lemon, eucalyptus bitters, soda water topper). It was balanced and refreshing, with a light kiwi flavor and a hint of eucalyptus from the bitters which was interesting. It wasn't sweet or boozy, and had a very light fizz from the soda topper. Her first cocktail was the From LA, With Love (tequila, passionfruit, lofi amaro, lime, grapefruit, prosecco topper). It must have been the lofi amaro and prosecco topper that gave this drink a strong and sweet white wine flavor which totally overpowered everything else. Neither of us really cared for this one. My second cocktail was the Compton Cowboy (tequila, watermelon pasilla chile shrub, topo chico topper). This drink was very chile forward with a smoky flavor even though I ordered it with regular tequila and not mezcal. The watermelon flavor was light, and I wish that had been stronger to stand up to the chile. It had one very long square ice cube in the glass which was interesting. I enjoyed it, but probably would not order it again. Her second cocktail was the Nomadic Sour (la luna mezcal, housemade saffron orgeat, amaro meletti, lime, egg white, orange bitters). This drink was the star of the day. The smokiness of the mezcal was at a nice level, it had good fruit notes, and we loved the foam and texture from the egg white. My one gripe would be that the drinks are served in plastic glasses. Cocktails with ice in them will sweat a lot when served in plastic glasses, and that was definitely the case with three of our four drinks. Be sure to grab extra drink napkins to mop up the condensation. I'm guessing that the plastic is for safety reasons being up on the roof. Anica made three of our four drinks and was very friendly. She was also very apologetic about the unpublished menu change, and being out of the ingredients to make my first cocktail request. She even took a few bucks off the bill to make up for it which was a very generous gesture. Mason made our last drink and was very friendly also. We had already eaten before coming here, but there are quite a few food options downstairs in the market. You are welcome to bring food upstairs. Normally, I would give four stars but we really did enjoy the rooftop seating, and the bartenders were great. Their last cocktail menu, as well as the current one, features a lot of ingredients you don't see often which is great. So, five stars it is. read more

My birthday celebration began with a real adventure: trying to find a hidden rooftop joint called Bar Bohemien before being joined by my son, brother and sister in law in the fastest changing city in Los Angeles, Culver City. I got there early, found parking at a park and then wandered around and around, down an alley into a Japanese restaurant that turns out is in a giant food court of sorts with multiple different kinds of restaurants inside called Public Citizen and only then asking people where was I did a server for another restaurant take me to the front entrance where there was a tiny sign mentioning Bar Bohemien which was inside and up stairs to the roof. I had the Raspberry Beret which was quite good and we all enjoyed our cocktails sitting on a banquette. I used walkie talkies to alert my family of the reconnaissance mission and so began my birthday with some cocktails sitting on a couch on the rooftop where Michael treated us to a round before we went off to dinner. Upstairs in downtown Culver City they created a very pleasing atmosphere with the seating tables and banquettes but it is so urban that for a rooftop bar there was only views that they partially hid of ducts and A/C units atop other buildings. Been here a few times. The most recent, last week before dinner across the street. Know that's its downtown Culver City - rooftop bar up on top of the Citizen Public Market. As I already mentioned heading to dinner across the street - it's because Bar Bohemien doesn't serve food. There's some bar snacks, but not actual food prepared in a kitchen and served. I didn't look at the selection but I imagine it's probably chips and stuff. Almost forgot to mention parking. Downtown Culver has a few parking garages. I prefer the garages on Cardiff and and Watseka. I don't know the rates but this last visit, it was $4 charged to my card. Not too bad for LA. Service is at the bar. Order and wait for your drink(s). If you're with people, have them go find seating because it can get busy. Especially out on the roof. I chose to sit inside this last time - everyone seemed to want to be outside and I really didn't feel like being social. Bartender was friendly but busy. Drinks have been and were great. Ordered the Bohemien Remedy this time. Enjoyed the Texas single malt and the brown sugar and vanilla notes. Adding in all the other ingredients, the drink was balanced not too citrusy or acidic. I couldn't taste the rum spritz but I guess that's just for smell. Everything together went well for my taste though I wouldn't have minded a little more punch (ABV). I had to remove one star for someone's shadiness at the bar. Not sure who did it but we encountered friendly people the entire time. At the end of the night on one of the bills, it was closed out, card was received back and then an extra tip was added. We had to text to have it removed. Cash tip was given and the other 4 people who came also tipped heavily so it was pretty upsetting. Nonetheless, the bar did give the extra amount back but it's the fact that we had to contact them AFTER finding out this was added. NOTE: Close out each time. You MUST sign. Do not leave until you, yourself sign and add the tip yourself or you may end up with a surprise addition. We came for the first time and came with a group of 5. It was a great time. Had no idea that this place had music and dancing toward the end of the night. We tipped heavily as this place has awesome bar mixologist. The drinks were amazing. There is a good amount of choices of food inside the establishment but not in this bar. We were allowed to bring the food in to eat. Drinks were between $16 to $22 depending on what you ordered. Beautiful set up. We all may come back as we did have a great time here but next time we will be closing out with each order. read more

This was the 3rd time I've been here and can't believe that I've not written a review yet! The service from the bar tenders is highly attentive...a very pleasant surprise when the bar is packed! It's an adorable spot& the rooftop patio with heaters & comfy couches makes this a place to come for just about any occasion. It's been a great place for a cozy date as well as completely fitting the bill for a moderately rowdy girlfriend catch-up. Fun little bar in the Citizen Public Market. Gave me laid-back, relaxing vibes - the type of place you'd go to sit and enjoy a drink and good conversation. They had both indoor and outdoor seating, but neither location had a lot of seating - took us a moment to find a place for 2, and it wasn't that crowded while we were there. Lots of great cocktails - From LA with Love had to be my favorite (anything with prosecco will always be a win!). They also made a good espresso martini. This is a really pretty rooftop bar. We came here late on a Thursday night and they had a lot of outdoor seating and some indoor. The drinks were really good and strong. The bartender wasn't extremely friendly though. But it was a nice spot and they had a little Photo Booth, a movie projector, and cute areas for photos. * The Photo Booth does have an awkward angle from above so I'm not sure if it'll take really good photos. read more

Stumbled upon this hidden upstairs bar when we were visiting Citizen's Market, and it's definitely a little oasis nestled within the beautiful historic setting of the building and overlooking downtown Culver. The bar itself is artfully decorated, reminding me of a slightly overgrown castle with its dangling vines and red brick walls, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Bartenders were quick with orders even with a consistent flow of customers, and drinks were made decently well and unique in concept, although they were a bit pricey (especially for the fact they came in plastic cups). Thank you to Aiden for suggesting I check this place out. Getting here is half the fun you go through a sort of food court to find the set of stairs to this bar. I ordered the drink called "Hello Mon Hello Dad." It's an interesting take and a semi old fashioned but not really it's got a hint of vanilla very good. Drink was quick and very good the bartender Love (turns out it's her actual name.) served a great cocktail . Nice music and very relaxed chill vibes. I was flying solo but had a good time. There is also this group of people that I think might be paid extras/background actors to be here. I also tried the Hansel and Gretel it's a very unique combination of flavors and the garnish was expertly presented. I am a sucker for good drink names especially after messed up fairy tales. This is a solid drink it mixed very well and the smell of the rosemary adds to the flavor and the type of smell of the woods one would find in the Forrest where Hansel and Gretel got lost in. The indoor section is cute but pretty small but they have a big outdoor upstairs deck with heat lamps. This is a really lovely place to grab a drink with a friend. It's a bit hard to find if you're not familiar with Culver City (on the top floor of the Citizen Market). The seating outside is lovely although I can imagine this place gets busy and fills up quickly - we were there early. I don't know if they actually come to your table to take drink orders, and that's the biggest downside for me. It's possible they DO, but there was no one that appeared to be doing that when I was there. The bartender was super knowledgable in that way that I realize calling him a bartender would be hugely offensive to him. He recommended a nice drink for me based on a few questions (I wasn't sure what I wanted). I have no idea what it was but it was quite good and he even advised me to sip, and not use a straw so as to not disturb the delicate balance. Or something like that. It looked like there were some food options, but we didn't try any of those. This is a pretty place to meet for a drink, but for a real night out or a long conversation over several drinks, I prefer table service and indoor seating. Such a cute bar :'). My friend and I came by on a Friday evening, and this was the perfect spot to spend a chill few hours before dinner. The bouncer didn't believe I was 21 LOL..but other than that, no hiccups. Half of the outdoor seating on the rooftop was blocked off, which was kind of a bummer, but we ended up finding a seat. They do also have some indoor seating but it was honestly getting pretty crowded in general, so come early if you can! The vibe is pretty laid back. What shines here are the cocktails.
