Visited Whitehall Exchange to meet someone for a drink on Thursday night and really enjoyed it. We got there early, maybe 6ish, and there was only one other patron. Wasn't sure what to order, and a staff member suggested the hot toddy so I went with his recommendation. I don't drink bourbon but it was freezing and I wanted something warming. So good! I'm totally a hot toddy convert! Great flavor, but not overwhelming with subtle peach and cinnamon notes...plus it was piping hot. I was warmed up in no time. Music was a low-key vibe with artists like Stevie Nicks and the Eagles playing, which was great. His specific words "Fuck you, your business is not needed here" In all my life I've never felt so disrespected. He spoke down to us as if we were his minions. He also told us we would be hard pressed to find another bar in bishop that is open till 2am. I could see if other guest complained or if we were loud but we were bringing him in money on a Sunday night. His disrespect for us as customers and his conceited attitude let me know I and my group of 15 were not welcomed. So we left and went to Nova, which is open till 2am everyday. We were able to play our music outside and enjoy our night. I will never come back here again or recommend anyone to go. There is a way you speak to people and whoever is in management doesn't realize that as a customer we have a choice where we spend our money and we are owed a certain decorum of respect. You are not the only bar open to 2am. Shame on you! It could have been handled differently. Regardless just go to Nova. This was a cool little spot. It is on the corner indoor and outdoor seating. There was a guy on the corner playing a guitar. We just stopped and had a couple of beer and took in the scenery. The service was good. As far a eye candy, yes plenty of that inside the place and walking the streets. We were there sitting outside for about an hour or so around 3-4ish. I dropped in earlier tonight with the bf to welcome this little place to the hood, and check out what they were all about. A friendly little gal named Kelly handed us the menus, and pointed out a nice comfy spot to sit, so we each ordered a glass of wine and took a seat. The first thing I noticed was the ambiance. Dim lights, and lovely decor gave the place a cozy, yet stylish feel. I liked the colorful paint on the walls and the stencil work. The furniture was also pretty cool. I really loved the blue long couch we were sitting on...complete with pillows and everything! We were curious to find out why they chose the name of the place, and one of the waiters informed us that back in the day before cell phones, when you wanted to place a call to this location in Bishop Arts, you'd call the operator, and ask for the name Whitehall, followed by a series of numbers. Their logo features an old-school telephone operator, which adds to the story. I thought it was a clever naming scheme, for sure! The service was great...Kelly was very kind, as well as knowledgeable. I was having such a good time, that I left my gloves behind when we split! The waiters. The menu (that has both bar noshes and meals), looks delicious. It's kind of a small place, but on a beautiful day, park your ass either at the walk up bar or patio seating. You get a full panoramic view of Davis and 7th....the terrible drivers, the lazy valets, but its all the more enjoyable when drinking a cosmo. The concept is perfect. They also have two HUGE TV's, so you could go on a Sunday and watch some NFL fo sho. I haven't eaten here, but I have sat for a while and gotten my drank on. I've also only been during the day or for happy hour. I really enjoyed myself but, from what i've seen from other reviewers I guess they didn't. My dog got attacked outside of their bar by a dog hanging out with his owner at the outdoor bar. They didn't even offer a hand to help my poor puppy who had their neck ripped open and was bleeding. The only drawback I will say is that I overheard one of the bartenders complaining about a customer's tip (or lack thereof). I'll be the first to say that it is important to tip servers and bartenders when you get good service. However, hearing her complain about it in front of other customers was a little off-putting.
