leek pesto Gnocchi , Bolognese , Vodka Sauce,
    Colleen C.

Love this place. very cozy yet high end. good place for a date or birthday dinner. Great service - friendly servers and hosts. also they filled the water constantly which I LOVE. food was yummy. Bolognese stood out. fresh pasta, not too much red sauce, so easy on the belly. The leek pesto gnocchi was REALLY good. Small serving but perfectly filling. I loved it. Shockingly the vodka sauce was our least favorite. With the sausage, it tasted oddly smokey and it was integrated into the sauce. Bonus; I loved the candies they gave at the end of the meal!

Bar Mezzana has a vibrant, buzzy atmosphere that makes it a fun night out, though in the winter it can be tough to find a table that isn't hit by a draft every time the front door opens. The menu is relatively limited, but what they do offer is high quality. The garlic-grilled sourdough with eggplant dip was a standout. The branzino, while flavorful, was slightly undercooked. Dessert was a chocolate flourless cake that tasted good but had an unfortunate resemblance to a thin Hostess HoHo. Overall, a lively spot with strong dishes, but a few execution and comfort issues keep it from being perfect.

I came here for dinner before a show at the Wang and it was perfect. The restaurant is very clean and the open kitchen beautiful. Our server was very nice, attentive, and helped make good suggestions. We started with the sourdough, whipped feta spread, and arancini. All were amazing. I could eat that bread and feta everyday. My pasta was very tasty, fresh, and had a good sauce. My husband's swordfish was also very tasty and not dry at all. Really good spot before a show, we'll be back.

Very tasty! I loved the risotto and the grilled octopus but everything we tried was rich and flavorful. Sorta pricey but at least the food is high quality and interior is elevated. Food did take a little while to come out. Came to celebrate my birthday and they prepared a little treat! Not very busy on a Monday night so can't speak to whether reservations are typically needed.

Stopped by here for dessert! The tiramisu was good and the chocolate hazelnut cake was amazing!! The service was good and the ambiance is very pretty. This is a great place for an intimate evening!

F phenomenal. Craft and speed of Sportello, hospitality of Menton & No. 9, buzzing energy of the old ES. Our party of 5 had several starters, pastas, entrees, and two rounds of drinks -- we were in/out in about an hour. Incredible food and service. Really dug the Rübezahl cocktail, which had a shrubby quality almost reminiscent of tepache, and reading the wine list. I could bathe in the sauce that the braised rabbit came in, and would equally welcome a slathering in the Caulilini's bagna cauda. Marinated octopus, meatballs, tagliolini, and cacio e pepe were phenomenal. I was going to order bread: focaccia or sourdough? And our server suggested we choose based on texture rather than flavor. Great idea. Grilled octopus chopped into focaccia was definitely a winner. Thank you Bar Mezzana!

I tried bar mezzana for dinner and had a mostly good experience. I liked the ambiance and I liked that they had matchbook souvenirs. The wait staff was friendly as well. The food and drink were just not amazing. The lobster pasta was just so so. The shrimp pasta gave me immediate acid reflux from just one bite. The fall burrata was really good tho. I think if they update their pasta menu this spot would have a lot of potential.

    Crudo tasting
    Elizabeth X.

The focaccia, spring pea salad, lobster pasta, and crostata were all amazing. The crudo tasting was good, but felt more like plain sashimi than crudo, and the vinaigrettes they were in was just okay. The squid ink salad was also just okay. Also FYI it'll stain your teeth dramatically, but nothing some water won't fix. On the dessert menu, they mentioned there's a 4% surcharge for the kitchen staff. I think it's pretty unfair to not make this charge more clear upfront, and I don't think I saw any notice given on the main menu. We walked in at 8 PM on a Saturday and were seated immediately, although it was quite busy and lively.

We came here during their brunch time menu on a Saturday morning. We made reservation but they were not needed since the restaurant had plenty of seating available. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The chicken parmezzana was not as good as I was expecting. I would not get this again. The fried it came with were good. A friend got the stuffed French toast, it was very good and would recommend getting this! We also had some drink, I did not capture a picture of those but they were good. Would definitely come again.

Been here a few times now. Ambiance is nice and the staff is friendly. Service is pretty good. The food is generally solid, but nothing really wowed me in terms of taste. Still though I think it's a great spot especially if you're out of luck getting a resy at the surrounding popular restaurants.

The baby kale salad yum plus whatever that spicy drink was!

Food was incredible. Post-Boston marathon meal. Started whipped feta on focaccia (5star) and the eggplant/cheese spread thing (4 stars). Maybe it tastes exactly as you want it to but I preferred the whipped feta. Service was good. They didn't really have an opportunity to prove exceptional. We made some Braindead requests and were treated respectfully, so that was nice. We got the creeping vine, a refreshing tequila drink and a spicy refreshing red drink. The ambiance was nicer and a little more laid back due to the nature of the event today. Ordered the baby kale salad which kicked butt. I've been carboloading all week even though I was only a spectator at the race... the salad was necessary. Main dish was the Casio e Pepe which we split. Rich and delicious. Would order again and again.

A lively spot for date night or girls night out. The menu has a nice mix of pasta and seafood options. Now the food started off okay but finished off strong. The focaccia bread felt a little stale and dry while the whipped feta was a bit heavy and thick rather than light. The yellowtail crudo was okay with the grapefruit. The main dishes shined though. The bucatini pasta was well cooked and had a nice spicy, acidic sauce that was not too overwhelming. The chicken under a brick featured juicy chicken with crispy skin and a delicious shaved Brussel salad on top to give it a nice crunchy texture. Parking in the area is a pain. If you aren't lucky enough to snag a meter, they do offer a reduced parking rate with one of the lots but I forget which one.

The food was soooo yummy! We started off with the crudite tasting, out of this world. And the meatballs, probably the best I've ever had. Then the mussels... unbelievably tasty. And the grilled sourdough is so good! The martini was meh, I'm not a fan of the glass. And the wine selected by our server was a great choice. Entrees we got chicken under a brick, i do remember it being yummier, and I almost asked for salt- but the polenta was delicious. And his bolognese was 10/10 yummy!! Sitting next to the window it was a bit cold, but the ambiance was cute!

Do you allow small dogs outside on the patio?

How is this place with kids?

There were a bunch of tables with children when I was there. They are as accommodating as most places and the noise level isn't too low or quiet where children would be a problem or overwhelmed.

For crudo tasting, does everyone in the table have to do it?

Hi Melanie! Sorry I don't check yelp often. The crudo tasting is two rounds of 3 pieces of crudo in each round. It could be enough for two to share (as each piece is then sliced in half). Anyone can order it at any time for one or to share! Hope…

Yelp Review 2026 #221:…read more I first dined at Saltie Girl when it opened in 2016 and I would always eat here every time I'm in Boston after falling in love with their Lobster and Waffles. Saltie Girl used to occupy a small space right next door: a bar and a few tables. They've expanded due to their success. They even opened a restaurant in Los Angeles. I made a reservation for dinner weeks in advance. We got seated right away. The place was packed inside and the patio was also full. I looked at the menu so maybe I can try something else other than Lobster and Waffles. Everything seemed delicious. They have pasta, caviar, crab roll, lobster roll, fish sandwich, clam chowder, calamari, steak, fresh oysters, seafood tower, tinned fish, smoked fish, salads and desserts. I had my eye on the Lobster Frites so, I asked our server about it. It's basically a whole 1.5lb lobster with a side of garlic fries. So, I reverted back to my go-to Lobster and Waffles. Caviar Dip: Crème fraîche, fried shallots green onion, Saltie Girl potato chips. It's like sour cream and onion vibe but elevated. When we finished the cup of chips, we asked for more chips and they gave us a bag of chips. 4.5/5 Lobster and Waffles: This is my go-to for a reason. Lightly breaded and fried lobster served with sweet corn butter, spicy maple syrup. That butter is so addicting. You don't really need a whole lot but I use up the whole scoop of it every single time. It's slightly sweet and with the mildly spicy maple syrup? Come on! The waffle is nice, warm, crisp, golden brown. It's decadent and very filling. 5/5 Spring Crab Carbonara: Asparagus, english peas, pecorino, preserved lemon. A nice summery pasta dish. Creamy yet refreshing. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The greens were popping against a rather beige background. 4.5/5 Pistachio Tiramisu: Gluten free lady fingers, pistachio cream, toffee crunch. This is meant to be shared since it's a huge heaping pile of creamy nutty goodness. Layers of textures: crunchy pistachios and toffee on top, soft cream, and spongy lady fingers at the bottom. 4.5/5 Our server was fabulous, friendly and fast. He answered our questions and he checked on us from time to time.

In advance, I stopped into the hotel to confirm that a gluten-free guest could be accommodated and was assured this would be handled. In reality, the accommodation was inadequate and, at times, unacceptable. While the rest of us were served scones, my stepdaughter was given cut fruit in their place, and told that was all they had to accommodate. The dessert course consisted of what appeared to be basic gluten-free cookies, misrepresented as something more gourmet - egg nog cookies??? This lack of preparation was both disappointing, upsetting and avoidable. The broader experience was equally concerning. We were subjected to an unsolicited and uncomfortable "lesson" on tea service, which detracted from what should have been a relaxed and celebratory occasion. While trying to enjoy the time with the girls, being a lifelong tea drinker and someone who has been to many times at your establishment and its various incarnations, this is something I have never experienced. The food quality was poor (scones were clearly reheated and stuck to the cloth napkin they were wrapped in), and there were notable service lapses, including being served water in a visibly shattered glass. Additionally, when hot water was added to refresh the tea, my stepdaughter's pot curdled and had to be replaced. It was especially disappointing, as I mentioned that I had stopped in and spoken with the concierge, and was assured, as they had called the kitchen while I stood there that they readily accommodated gluten-free. There are numerous places in the city that could have done this, and if you had just told me that you could not do so, I would have booked us elsewhere. I chose not to raise the multiple issues in the moment so as not to disrupt what was meant to be a special day for the girls and me. However, the total cost exceeded $500, and the experience did not come close to justifying that price point! Do not recommend.

The Rigatoni Alla Vodka was $28, but the pasta wasn't cooked al dente and felt overdone. The Carbonara, also $28, was disappointing as the eggs had curdled and the dish ended up being much oilier than I expected. At $18, the scampi was enjoyable, but overall I don't think the food justified the price point. One bright spot was the service. Our waitress was incredibly kind, checked in on us frequently, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a very aesthetic design. I can definitely see why it's popular on social media. There is also outdoor seating, which I imagine would be a nice option on a warm summer evening. One thing I did notice, though, is how closely the tables are spaced together. Since the restaurant was mostly empty during our visit it wasn't an issue, but I could see it feeling crowded and fairly loud once the dining room fills up. I was honestly surprised by the meal because Gigi is part of the Mazi Restaurant Group, and I've really enjoyed some of their other concepts, especially Kava Neo-Taverna. Based on this experience, though, I think there are plenty of Italian restaurants in Boston that offer better food and better value for the same price. Overall, I'd give Gigi 3/5 stars. The service and atmosphere were both strong, but the food didn't live up to the pricing. If I came back, it would probably be for drinks, appetizers, and the ambiance rather than a full Italian dinner.

Such a fun experience and honestly such a deal for how many drinks and food you get! Definitely…read moreneed reservations, even on a weekday. You have to enter the building with a small fox picture, go down a set of stairs and check in at the counter of said restaurant before they lead you into the back where the speakeasy is. The menu is "set" in that they have a particular cuisine focus for the night and the four food dishes are predetermined as well as the first drink. That being said, you get to order three more drinks from their cocktail menu that range from lighter to more spirit forward, ending with more dessert type cocktails. All the drink flavors were so unique and a fun twist. The food was actually very substantial. Good flavors as well. Our favorite dishes were the lamb cigars (large egg roll shape with eggplant and spices) and the whole branzino. Everything was good though. Service was a very friendly and they were open about the fact that if you didn't like a drink they'd make you another one.

She was great! Really enjoyed talking with her and she had great drinks recommendations. The food was delicious and very unique which was refreshing. Its a 2 hour experience with 4 drinks, 3 food courses and a dessert. You definitely wont be hungry after. Highly recommend for a date night.
