Bar Pendry is undoubtedly a posh and stylish venue. The ambiance is undoubtedly luxurious. However, the experience can be quite boisterous, especially on Friday and Saturday nights when the bar draws a lively and sometimes rowdy crowd. One downside is the parking situation. Valet is the only option. and at $60 without validation, it adds a substantial cost to your night out. read more

HEADS UP! - If you're going on a weekend after 9 expect to wait in a line to get in. It's busy and popular. We went on a Saturday night at 7:30-8pm. Already busy. But not crazy. Dj was playing okay music. Nothing great. People are obviously dressed to impress. If you're single ladies. Plenty of nice looking men! Food and drinks top notch. Try the Newport key drink! I could drink at least five of them. Ask for the mushroom au gratin dip and extra bread. Thank me later! Super chic and upscale. Exactly what you would expect. Servers quick and energetic. 3 Stars for the vibes and ambience! Music does need help tbh. Food is below average... this is now our second time there so we tried a few different things. Could pass on all of it! The cocktails are insanely expensive $25-$33 for an old fashioned and a paper plane. Have never paid that much for drink unless we upgraded the alcohol! Not to mention... they were just ok... zero garnish or anything special. Service both times was extremely slow. Hopefully they workout the kinks. Pretty looking space but awful in all respects otherwise. Waited 20 minutes for a greeting, another 10 for a menu. Bartender was not wearing a name tag so can't report name but rude, slow, and generally uninterested in being there. The guests next to me left as well. Hopefully they turn it around in time but between the pile of dirty glasses and staff paperwork on the bar top going untouched for 30 minutes on a Friday cocktail hour, and the terrible attitude of the team I'm not convinced they can turn this around anytime soon. read more

So disappointing! I was really looking forward to a new nice bar in the area but we had a bad experience. We visited on a Friday afternoon and sat at the bar. It took 15 minutes for one of the four bartenders to acknowledge us. They kept walking by and avoiding eye contact. They were busy, but should have just said 'sorry - we will be with you soon.' Drinks were quite expensive and blah. We will try again in a few months and hope it all gets better after they are open for a while. We've had good experiences at other Pendry locations so I still have hope! read more

I'll start with the positive, great atmosphere. However, this place is not set up for large crowds. They charge $20+ for one of their crafted drinks, but they don't staff to accommodate how long it takes to make these time consuming drinks. Which means even if you just want a glass of wine it can take 30+minutes waiting your turn while the limited bartender are busy with a backup of crafted drinks. I felt bad for some of my friends attempting to order a drink. If you aren't ready to obnoxiously get a bartender's attention, you will wait; and wait and wait. To charge what they do you'd hope the service matched the inflated price. Especially when considering $15 (before tip)valet is your only parking option. The staff is friendly, but they can only do so much. The ladies room is also a big problem for the current crowds. I was there on a week night and the line was out the door to get one of the two stalls to use the restroom. Inside each stall is full vanity and sink. Let me tell you how that went, there was screaming... Two stalls set up to full on glam. I was sitting on the bench waiting for a friend who stood inline to actually use the restroom. At one point both ladies must have decided to set up shop because there was NO line movement fore 12-15min. This is an upscale spot, according to prices and mandatory valet. The crowd reflects this classy setting, class goes out the window when your waiting for the restroom in a line that doesn't move. Until this place gets past the hotspot hump, you will wait. The understaffed bar & ladies room set up is not conducive to accommodate current crowds. As things slow, this spot has possibilities. read more

What to say, what to say! This place brings back such great memories. It use to be Island hotel and the look outside was pretty similar with the lush palm trees and foliage. The revamp gives a very NYC feel with the mirrors and the dark wood around the bar. This place is legendary....I've done a lot of happy hours here with colleagues! The four out of five stars is more the high pricing....bring back some of the island flare! read more

Went to Bar Pendry on Saturday night after dinner with friends for a night cap. We used to frequent it when it was Island Hotel, so it was interesting to get here and we were motioned to a line to enter the bar. The line was long and apparently the wait was close to an hour for a bar, which I have never heard of. We tried to get a table and were told it is $2000 and the guy didn't even know what bottles were included in table service. We went back in line and got close to the front and had some questions for the bouncer. First, he said his name was "John" which is not true. His name tag didn't have his name on it. While we wait, we asked about bottle service again and he told us it was $4000. A Caucasian woman came to ask if the bouncer knew some people and he said no, but told her to go ask the people in the front. More on that. Anyways, we were in line for an hour. Once we got into the bar, the decor is was changed from the previous Island hotel bar/lounge. We got our drinks and found a table to sit at. The bartender Chandler was amazing. Anyways, back to the Caucasian woman. When we asked John whose real name is Abel about her, he said she probably had a table and that is why she was able to go in before us. While inside, we noticed she did not have a table at all. We felt because of the color of our skin, this is why there were so many discrepancies. This should not be the case, but it was. When I asked one of the hostess about bottle service, she said it was a minimum of $1500 food and drink. It was my first and last time to visit the Bar at Pendry. We loved the atmosphere, however Jennifer as she claimed that was her name, the manager, had horrible attitude. She told us to leave our table at the bar, for another big party, and before we even say anything she said leave now or i'll call the security. Not sure why she was talking to us like that. We were happy to move as we were having a good night, not sure why she was attacking us. i asked her why she is threatening us, she said that we scream at the server??? Earlier as i was going to sit on the couch, a waitress jenna pulled my arm to notify me of something, i got scared and screamed and server apologized and everything was good(completely different incident) . i didnt even complain about anything. Jennifer showed up started attacking us and said that she is lawyer. Made no sense and she was starting drama. Anyways i nicely told her that she doesn't need to threaten us. I asked jenna if she told jennifer that I screamed at her? And waitress said not at all and that it was loud and Jennifer must have been mistaken. Anyways her attitude was weird. Threatening us with security? Then accusing me that I randomly screamed at waitress? I dont know where she popped up from but I told her you dont talk to a customer like that especially that we were not even complaining and we were having a good time. Anyways we moved to the table next to them, saw her taking shots with the new customers who took our table, they had bottle and everything so we understood if they preferred them to sit there. But the whole nonsense she brought up was so unprofessional. I told her i will let the owner know, as I saw him on Thursday and I will let the owner know. Hire someone with class, manner and empathy. People in Orange County are nice people, she should not treat people like that. A drunk manager is a trouble maker for sure. read more
