10/10 experience! The food was amazing - rustic yet elevated, flavors perfectly balanced. The cauliflower dish was incredible and all the grilled meats were cooked to perfection (we had both the lamb chops and the pork chops). Also super gluten free and dairy free friendly - I couldn't believe how many options I had. The bar game is on point too! So many creative cocktails and all perfectly well balanced! Despite being fairly new and very crowded last night, the service was impeccable as well. Our waiter took the time to familiarize me with the all-Greek wine menu and offer me tastes to help me find what I liked. The manager stopped to check on us twice and we felt really taken care of. I thought it was pretty mediocre and I was very excited to try it. After waiting for months for a reservation, it was a letdown. The Taramasalata didn't taste like one, the tsasiki could have been store bought. As for the lamb, you'd get a better one next door at the Abbey or the Tavern. Summary: This is a very pleasant restaurant that serves delicious food. It lived up to its reputation. It is a bit pricey, and we view it as a place for future special occasions. Review: The greeter was friendly and we (party of 4) - were seated on time. The wait staff was attentive and helpful. We elected to eat "family style". The bread brown - coarse - was the perfect accompaniment to the spreads, that were tasty. I wish they had given us more than 4 bread pieces total, because this was not enough for the spreads (we needed to order an additional bread serving). We shared saganaki, a politiki salad and an aradopita pie. All terrific. The beef cheeks were incredibly tender and pulled apart with our forks (we were surprised that they were a bit oily.) The slow roasted lamb leg was delicious but not as tender as we expected, and a little bit dry - overcooked. The chicken was also delicious and incredibly flavorful. In retrospect, the side order of potatoes was almost too much for us. A bottle of Atima Assyrtiko wine went well with the meal. We were all full by this point, but not too full to share a dessert. We shared the bougatsa with pumpkin sorbet. The dessert, including the sorbet, was prepared at the restaurant. A perfect meal finish. The mountain tea might be an acquired taste. Though we mention a few criticisms of the meal, these were minor; we had not previously eaten this type of food. so, we did not have any experience against which to compare this. This is the best restaurant I have been to in a long time. I went there for dinner with family. Firstly the interior design is minimalistic, but very cozy and beautiful. Everything was thought through down to the very smallest details (plates, silverware, menus...) . Not to mention the service. The waiter was friendly, and very knowledgeable of the menu. He was perceptive of our needs and only improved the flow of the experience and the night. With the beverages, everyone was happy. Everyone ordered different wines which paired well with their different dinner options, only thing was that it was served in glass cups, as opposed to the usual wine glass. Which at least white wine should remain chilled and not warmed up by the presence of fingers around the glass. I ordered a gin and mulberry liquor cocktail, which I thought was presented beautifully, and wasn't too sweet, which I find is a big tendency among other restaurants. We ordered the oyster mushrooms, dolma, and the seasonal pita for appetizers. Each one was incredible, I was suspicious of the seasonal pumpkin flavor, but quite on the contrary, it was absolutely divine. The oyster mushrooms were also beautiful, crispy and flavorful on the outside, and juicy on the inside. Everything was gone in a matter of seconds. The dolma came in a set of three, I wish there was one more so that we could all taste one full one, but the juiciness and flavor of the meat inside with the yoghurt sauce on top was very complementary and a favorite classic of ours. My Armenian aunt who makes dolma all the time approved, so that means a lot! For the main entrees, we all decided to share our meals with each other. The dishes that we ordered were lamb, trout, assorted charcoal fired vegetables, and charcoal fired chicken marinated in yoghurt sauce. These were all unbelievably delicious. The lamb had a medium cook on the inside, and was a perfect mix of flavor and juices. The chicken was also very tasty, but not as exciting as the others. I was not able to sample the trout because the person who ordered it finished it without being able to share: very delicious, self explanatory. The fired vegetables were surprising. They were all seasoned quite nicely with a beautiful presentation. Some veggies were marinated which really elevated this dish in my eyes. We ordered it as a balanced vegetable variety for all the protein dishes. The eggplant and red peppers were my favorite on this platter. The eggplant was cut thin, and had the texture comparable to thinly cut, chewy steak which I loved, and was seasoned very well. The red peppers were marinated and gave a nice kick to the other parts of the platter. We decided to sample two desserts, a custard dessert wrapped in pastry dough with seasonal sorbet, and the dark chocolate with biscuits and candied hazelnuts and fruits. The custard dessert was a comforting and warm blend of spices, and the soft texture was delicious. We were once again skeptical of the pumpkin spice seasonal flavor sorbet, but it was a fun addition to the custard. I enjoyed the custard dessert more, but for chocolate lovers, the dark chocolate dessert tasted like a rich brownie with crunchy biscuits on the inside, and nuts and fruits to complement. I highly recommend this restaurant for the people who want a unique dining experience. For me, it was the first time going to a Greek restaurant. It was a pleasure to experience a brand-new food that I have never tried before. I especially liked Paidakia, the lamb. The servers and managers were so nice and kept trying to communicate with me when I was struggling with choosing the menu. The vibe was also perfect to take an aesthetic food picture. But one thing I want to mention is that the overall price per person was quite expensive as a college student. It was absolutely higher than I expected. LOVE this new restaurant in Brookline from the same restaurant group as Krasi. They serve Vlach cuisine here and is more of a traditional greek style compared to the more modern restaurants we have in Boston. We started with some cheese which we thought was ok, not amazing. The alevropita which is a crispy thin batter feta pie was delicious although it could be quite heavy, I personally liked it with the kopanisti dip to cut some of the heaviness. The MUST GETS are the crispy fried oyster mushrooms (this is a 10/10 dish), and the chicken which was cooked so beautifully with a crispy skin but super tender meat. Lamb chops was also really good although it could use a little more salt/ flavor. I would personally skip dessert as neither the greek yogurt or milk pie was that good imo. Service was excellent and our server was super friendly with explaining everything. Will definitely be back to try a bunch of other dishes. Overall, a really great experience. read more

None of the food wowed or delighted. The highlights: The butter that came with the bread was phenomenal. (Bread was mediocre). The Smokey eggplant dip was flavorful and spicy. It was our first time at Bar Vlaha. Our server, Maria, was wonderful as she was warm, confident and knowledgeable. We started with drinks and had the Freaky Greeky Tiki, White Wine Estate Sauvignon Blanc and a Rose and they were all delicious. We had four spreads and some were better than others. We really liked the Tzatziki, Gaylotiri, but the charred eggplant was too smokey and the Tamarosalaka was not great. Maria recommended the mushrooms which were outstanding! For main dishes we had the Melitzana (eggplant and potatoes) and the Prestigania (pork shoulder) and they were both good but enjoyed the former more. For dessert we had the homemade yogurt with toasted caramelized walnuts and cherries which was a perfect ending to our meal. Lastly, I found the photographs really interesting.
