Cute little place in a prime spot on the beach with amazing food. Their spicy garlic shrimp plate is a must try. My son had a burger and it wasn't your average burger. I had a bite and the meat was very seasoned, tender and tasty. The staff were friendly and the dole pineapple whip was super refreshing. All in all a must try if you are in the area read more

Came here during sunset which they have live music from 5:30-8:30 pm daily. Its busy and there was a constant stream of people. It's right next to the beach and the views are gorgeous! Sunset was beautiful as well. They were sold out of various foods which they had listed on the chalk board. Food was reasonable and were decent sized portions considering its in Waikiki and on the beach. We tried the fish and chips and fresh fish sandwich. The fish was cooked well and everything was made fresh. We came on a Monday. The live Hawaiian music and hula dancing was awesome as well. I loved that random people requested songs and danced. It was fun to watch people of various ages dance. There was even an 87 yo who danced! We would definitely return. read more

Super easy to miss, Barefoot Beach is tucked away beyond Waikiki Beach with a great ocean front view. It's a casual quick-service place which is great for those seeking an ocean view eatery without the formality of a sit-down. We got the Hawaiian BBQ Chicken plate and the Garlic Shrimp. The BBQ chicken was cooked well and had good flavor. But the real star was the garlic shrimp. I got it spicy and you can get either 6 or 9 pieces. The sauces was soooo good and addicting. It was creamy and buttery with a slight kick. And with the extra sauce you can add it to your rice and enjoy that amazing sauce. We went on a Friday late afternoon/early evening and they had live music too. The band+the beautiful ocean views make this place a great gem of a spot! read more

We were walking along the beach walkway and discovered this super cute cafe. Then we decided to come and have an early dinner here. The food and drinks on the menu was super reasonable for it being in waikiki. That already was a big plus for me. We ordered fish and chips, the cheese burgers, and 2 Loco mocos. Fish and chips were crispy and big. The Loco moco was alright, we thought the gravy tasted weird. It had a heavy taste of soyu sauce. It kinda threw us off. I love how the restaurant sit right infront of the beach. Beautiful view! Definitely coming back for the smoothie menu. It looked good. read more

While this place may have the ambiance you are seeking, casual, beachfront, it TRULY lacked in customer service. I was super excited to dine here based on recommendations from locals. We got there at 7:40 pm. The line was long. However, I was sure we'd order before 'last call'... Well..... that did not happen. Finally got to the window AT 8:29 and could not order. The staff was extremely dismissive about the whole thing. They even claimed they were all new, had one day training AND there was no manager there. They could have easily made an announcement well before 8:30 when they saw there amount of people in the line and the rate of speed the line was moving. There was no accountability nor apologies. read more

Heard lots of good reviews. But was shocked at how horrible the customer service was. The older lady that took our order was extremely disrespectful and just overall rude. The really set the tone for our evening. The food was good would definitely recommend the steak plate. Good price for the Waikiki area, coming from a local. I went back for dessert and She gave me attitude when asking what flavors of ice cream sandwiches they had she groaned and rolled her eyes at me. I'll definitely come back a different day hoping for a different cashier. read more

There is no way to wash your hands here (no hand sanitizer, no soap; I asked about both) so I didn't get food. Closest bathrooms are ran by the city and also have no soap. Not providing soap for customers is seemingly a health code violation, so I figured they would be fine ignoring other health codes too. Also, I have good hygiene so I wash my hands before I eat. I was disappointed because this place was highly recommended. My partner did eat. Service was quick and friendly and my partner really enjoyed their food. Nice location and view. read more

Food was OK. We had a vegan loco moco, breakfast sandwich, and breakfast burrito with a smoothie and it was delicious. Loco moco was generously portioned and very savory. Burrito and sandwich were fine. Construction next door so half the ocean view was blocked off but the half that wasn't was absolutely stunning. We ate as a family of 3 - 2 adults 1 child and our total was $78 we felt it was a bit pricey each plate was $17 and only came with either pancakes or French toast no sides. The pineapple drink was $15 and mainly for cute pics lol the drink inside was good but it was warm would've preferred a cold pineapple drink. We also got bottled waters which were $4 each. Now you can't leave Hawaii without eating at a place that's actually on the beach, can you? This is the kind of laid back beachcomber spot you'd expect to find a few decades back when Gidget was forced by her parents to go to Hawaii and leave her true love, Moondoggie. It's just east of Waikiki Beach between the zoo and the aquarium, so expect a lot of hyperactive kids. Jamie W. and I came here on our last evening in Honolulu because it was really close to our hotel at Kaimana Beach. We were exhausted at this point in our vacation, and this simple operation made it easy for us - just an order window and a decent size terrace of tables. Had the best smoothie I've ever had (the Lava Flow)! Food was great. Live music was great. It's right on the beach so we enjoyed the view while we ate and listened to music. There is also a small breakwater just a few feet from the cafe that you can walk out into the bay. We came here around afternoon time for a few different things to try, food was good but the wait was unbelievable, we waited about an hour just to order and as that hour went by the line continued to get longer we noticed that people would arrive wait in line for at least 15 to 20 minutes and then leave because the line did not move. Yes we could've left but really wanted to try this place, they need to figure out a better system for order taking due to the worker that was at the register that day would take orders and then continuously walk off and do other things like refilling items or other things along those lines. Which is a continuous delay to customers and I believe they should have someone else doing that work so then the cashier can strictly focus on taking customer orders and making the line go by quicker it should not take an hour just to take a customer's order! read more

We ate there twice. Once for breakfast and again for dinner. My husband had an omelette and I had pancakes. We both were very happy with our meal and thought the price was reasonable. We came back for an early dinner. My husband had the catch of the day which was Swordfish and I had Kalua Pig. We both loved our meal and thought the price was reasonable. The atmosphere is super casual, ocean view. I read that someone complained about the young staff, but overall the service was good. They maybe young but they were nice and friendly. read more

Very tourist-geared, complete with pineapple beverages. BUT, not bad for locals either. A really nice spot to sit with a good meal and a decent beverage to watch the sunset and listen to their live music in the evenings. Go see Pokii Vaughn of the famous Vaughn family performing on Mondays with his group. You will be transported back in time to old Hawaii, circa 1920-1960. They might even have a hula lesson during their performance! Check them out! The food is decent portion sizes and freshly prepared. They have fresh fish. Beautiful and convenient location just off the beach. I was at Queens beach and decided to walk over to grab lunch. Order at the counter; there can be a line. I noticed locals eat here, which is always a good sign. I ordered the fish of the day (swordfish) and a passion fruit yogurt smoothie. Fish was cooked perfect and not over done. Plate comes with a side of white rice, pineapple slice, and small salad. Fresh ingredients. Smoothie was worth it. I liked it! read more

Friendly staff and yummy food. Cool location close to the beach. But dang, the birds are no joke. There are signs saying not to leave food unattended but that's putting it lightly. We were batting birds away and kicking our legs the WHOLE time. It was traumatizing for our toddler who squealed and barely ate because the birds were too much. I think they should either communicate more clearly about what a nuisance the birds are and do something to try and regulate them - fencing or fans or something. Idk but honestly the bird issue would keep me from eating here again. We had the vegan loco moco which was yummy and had a bit of a curry kick to it. The fish and chips were good but a bit overdone. read more

Suite café overlooking Waikiki. Outdoor seating all around, there are some covered seating and some with umbrellas. Do you have the lineup and order your food. They'll call you when your food is ready and then you can pick your seat. I went on a Sunday where there was live music. I went during breakfast time so I had a breakfast burrito and my friend had an açai bowl. We both had a cappuccino, very good. The ambience was beautiful, servers were super friendly. And customers were super friendly. During my time there someone fell out of their seat having a seizure and everyone came to help thankfully there was a nurse and a doctor having breakfast that day. Beach front. It's a little area, that if you're not looking for it, you'll easily miss it. They have a pretty big seating area, eith a window to order food and another window to pick up your order. They have a pretty extensive menu. I ordered their 3 tacos with different proteins. It comes with some salsa and chips, all for about $15. Considering that it's right off Waikiki, it's not that expensive. Food comes out quite quickly. They overhead page your name when your food is ready. The food overall was really good. Each taco had its own unique flavor. Considering the price point, you don't get that much protein, but it's sufficient to keep you satiated. Flavors are on point. Just enough chips to curb your chip craving. Overall the food was good. Price is fair. They have a large enough menu to cover must cravings. They also have live music after 5pm. read more

Every city should have a place like this! It's exactly what you'd want and expect from an outdoor beach cafe. Simple, good, fresh, decently priced local food. Went the other night and it was really good. They had live music which is always nice. The shrimp garlic plate was excellent! I ordered It medium which had a small kick to it but next time I will get it spicy. Loved the garlic sauce and I just wanted more of it. The loco moco was a large portion. The big complaint here why my review didn't score 5 stars was the middle of the burger was completely raw. Stopped eating it because of that and didn't want to get sick. We didn't say anything Because he had ate everything else and there was now a huge line. When we ordered there was only 3 people ahead of us. The large tables were pretty dirty. We saw raving reviews for their vegan burger and decided to check this place out. They were sold out of their vegan burger, but from reading other reviews it seems this is pretty common for them to be out of their vegan dishes pretty early in the day. We did not have a pleasant experience at this place. We ended up ordering an acai bowl, cheese quesadillas with bell peppers and onions and garlic fries. Almost everything was disgusting! Garlic fries were a huge mess and I don't know how can someone mess up fries. They were soggy and almost black. They forgot our bell peppers in the quesadillas, it tasted bland. Acai bowl was the worst, it wasn't even a bowl. It came in a small glass and so just returned it back to them and the guy told us that their manager Randy would give us the refund the next day. He never returned us our money and we had to deal with our credit card company. They have outdoor seating with a nice view, probably the only good thing about the place. read more

The location itself is pretty cute and small, and appears to be operated solo by the lady we assumed to be the owner and eponymous "Blondie." She was really friendly and helpful while we were trying to decide what we all wanted (we can be a slightly indecisive bunch). I thought the wall of little index cards illustrated by various patrons showing where they were from was a really nice touch! We chose to sit indoors, since outdoor tables that would take four were occupied, but it might be noisy out there with the proximity to the main road. Inside the music can be a little loud, too, but the lady behind the counter turned it down some for us, which was kind of her to offer. Overall a decent little vegan sandwich shop with a great smoothie and drink selection! I think if my husband and I are about town on our own on our next visit to the islands, we might stop by again, but my parents will probably opt for other things given that my mother never gets beyond a first impression. Definitely worth trying if you're looking for a nice vegan meal and beverages!

Hits & Misses: They're definitely doing some innovative things, like the pickled mango sushi. Via Instagram, customers sign-up for the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. They will message you for pickup time if you're selected. You may takeout or dine-in. The menu for 9-22-24 was a Bento and the dessert was a matcha flight - a scoop of ice cream, warabi mochi, and a regular mochi. Everything looked too beautiful to eat! We watched the workers assemble the bentos and matcha dessert flights. So much concentration and effort is put into each item! I was able to order one of the limited Kahi drinks. It's made with amazake, Yuzu purée, unsweetened yuzu soda, and matcha from Japan. The combination sounds odd, but tasted great! There were bits of yuzu with rind on the bottom of the cup. The citrus flavor was refreshing! This experience makes me want to sign up for the next event - October 13! I wonder what the menu will be...

This month of November they are serving a very satisfying HONOKEEMA curry set using HONOBONO original gluten-free koji curry paste made with five kinds of spices, fruits, vegetables, and koji; simmered with mushrooms, onions, tomato, konbuk kelp, and shiitake mushrooms. Amazingly the curry is topped with a very believable HONOBONO vegan egg yolk. The curry set is paired with a mini soup and salad of the day and a small bite of mochi. We also got the Imo Frappe - a plant-based version of Starbucks sweet potato Frappuccino and the Aki- amazake with raspberry purée, unsweetened strawberry, sparkling soda with premium uji matcha from Japan. The kouign amann seems like a popular item as we bought the last of them (we had wanted four, but there were only three) and it was still early afternoon. There is a parking garage nearby that allowed for long enough free parking for us to go order and grab our goodies to go. The location itself doesn't have a lot of seating space, so it seems best set up for takeout, but it is a pleasantly bright space and the outdoor seating seems like it would be nice as they're not on a main throughfare. It's far from where my family lives on the island that we stay with when we're visiting, but next time we're near Ala Moana around lunchtime, we'll definitely stop by for some vegan goodies!

We got there before 8pm and they were sold out on a lot of the items, but still liked what we got! We ordered the Brooklyn Pizza (perfect for two!), which was made with fresh ingredients and was made to order. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate chip cannoli which has the right amount of sweetness and texture, a perfect ending to our meal. They have outdoor and indoor seating, and the service was warm and pleasant. I love the vibe on both areas, and we could see the wood-fire oven even in the indoor seat that we got. Good to know too that they're a vegan pizzeria, we'll definitely come back to try more of their pizza and salads. We found street parking but overheard that it's ok to park at the Hawaii Gas assigned parking on weekends only.

The crust was beautifully done, crisp around the edges, chewy in the center, and full of flavor. The White pizza was probably my favorite, with creamy vegan cheeses and a richness that felt indulgent without being heavy. The vegan cheese pizza was simple in the best way and disappeared quickly. Our kids loved both pizzas, and there wasn't a slice left by the end of dinner. After a long day in the sun, it was the perfect meal to bring home and share together. We'll definitely be ordering again.

Dinner was amazing, the drinks were great, but what truly made the night special was our server, Alex. He was absolutely incredible -- kind, friendly, and so knowledgeable. He walked us through the menu, gave spot‑on recommendations, and handled our group effortlessly. We had two tables (one for kids and one for adults) and three different families, and he made ordering and paying feel easy and organized. We'll definitely be returning on our next trip back. Dear Ms. Sakara Blackwell, A few words to describe our August 7th 2013, experience at your property known as 'Barefoot Beach Café. 1. naïve - "haole" 2. filthy 3. unsanitary Additional comments on your morning staff: 1. stupid 2. rude 3. cheats Our intent that morning was to walk Waikiki, take in the morning scene, view the Diamond Head Shoreline Fisheries Area and get a meal from your concession stand. The time was 7:15 am when we ordered two meals: eggs over easy bacon with two scoops of rice & illy coffee We paid the ticket and were told by the stupid counter clerk our # was 8. At 7:45 am order #9 was called. I observed an Asian male pick up 4 orders 2 containing two scoops of rice. The next order called was ours. My wife remained seated and I picked up both orders and two cups of soya sauce. So began a disturbing, filthy event. My wife notices my order had two scoops of rice - her meal had no rice or any substitute. She returned to the counter asking for an explanation. The rude, stupid clerk said "we're out of rice" and made no offer to provide anything else or refund the difference. "I left the food on the cement table only to witness seconds later a dozen pigeons fly from the rafters beginning an unhealthy, unsanitary event. Birds picked at everything. Food, feathers, poop & soya went everywhere." An observation - "out of rice" in 30 minutes and only nine orders taken and served! Ms. Blackwell, "out of rice" @ 8:45 am on an August morning. One might wonder if to maintain a profit margin, senior management told the cooks at your Barefoot Beach Café to keep the old rice from yesterday in the five gallon rice streamer only to make more when the old stuff is sold. If that is the case, Ms. Blackwell, can your early morning customers be guaranteed that the streamer lid was tightly closed during the night to keep the cockroaches from eating away at your profits and contaminating the morning meals? Ms. Blackwell was faxed and mailed a copy of this letter. To date 08/31/2013 no response from Blackwell or Optimum Marketing & Management, LLC. read more

I would recommend the business owner of this place to come on a Friday evening and get a dinner here as a normal person would. Perhaps, during the 20+ minute wait in the line they would come up with a few ideas that could improve the dining experience here. If their creativity doesn't get stimulated, they could, at least, analyze why some people would take 3-5 minutes to place their order, and how much business they are loosing. More people could be served or come back to get another drink or a desert, but not the case with such punishing wait. I have lived in the Waikiki area about a year and half and I'd like to admit that I eat here about every other week. The prices are good for the Waikiki location right next to the ocean, live music on evenings, good spirit and atmosphere, and the grilled pupus are well crafted. Super delicious beyond expectations at a kiosk like this. Salad buffet on Fridays and Saturdays. Friday fireworks are an icing on the cake. Business-wise, this place seems to be doing better than a year ago. This might be the problem. During my last few visits, I got irritated that I feel I'd get some break from coming back. I think, the menu might have become too complicated or could be printed more legibly or displayed better. The person behind the register doesn't seem to care to connect with customers or might be just overworked. At the end of this ordering ordeal, I'm asked to leave a tip... Hmm... Don't get me wrong, you'll get a decent meal for your $$, but bring plenty of patience. read more

We love Barefoot Beach Cafe at Kapiolani Park! The atmosphere is absolutely amazing and one of the best parts of the experience. You can enjoy beautiful ocean views, breathtaking sunsets, and during the summer, even watch the Friday night fireworks from Waikiki around 7:45 PM. The food is delicious and offers something for everyone. We especially enjoy the poke bowls, burgers, fresh salads, and local fruit smoothies. Service was fast...you are called by name to pick up your dish;) What makes this place truly special is the Hawaiian experience. While you dine, you can listen to local musicians and sometimes enjoy hula performances, making it a perfect spot for both visitors and locals. ok all I got a say is WOW.so my family and I went swimming and I got so tired.but as we walk past this lovely place.my husband told me we should stop and see what they have,but I was so tired but still stop by.we order ono and opa plate..oh man my face was not tired anymore turn to a smily face.anyways good food friendly people and also beautiful place.. the cashier on that day ,it was mon the 6th around 4pm .the cashier was super nice wich I belive her name was kenyah.i think that's how she spelled her name,,everyone belive me when I say this..good food fast service and very very friendly cashiers..i don't regret spending my monet there.so please if your looking for a friendly fast service and a beautiful place to eat go to barefoot café..its the best place ive ever been to in Hawaii..love it and will be back tomorrow read more

Anytime I want to get a good meal at the beach this is my go to. I love that their dine in area has tables inside the pavilion and also umbrella tables near the beach. Their live music on certain days is also an excellent touch! Now on to what's important -- the food! The quality and ingredients are fresh and ono. Hubby and I shared the salad and also had a side of fries. The chicken was cooked to a tender juiciness that complimented well with the pineapple relish. The flavors blended well and the fresh greens were crunchy and vibrant! Definitely will be going back and taking the friend and family. Parking is easy too as you can park at Kapiolani park or right on the side of the street parking next to their location. Ordered malasadas and a smoothie. After waiting for 10 min for the smoothie and watching other people who ordered after me get their smoothies, reminded them about it. Finally got their mediocre smoothie which is just ice and some juice from concentrate and continued waiting for the malasadas while watching a couple of people come back to the window with the food they just received (obvious sign of this places mediocrity). After a few more minutes the girl at the register comes back and tells me she was not informed that they do not have malasadas and offered me ice cream or cheesecake. Epic fail. So friday night is the bbq.my husband and i called the cafe try to make reservation for13 of us but the girl that answer said she just keep on eye on the tables at 5:30. My friend took me to Queen's Surf Cafe & Lanai. It is near Waikiki Beach so The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere! ( but there were many pigeons...) I ordered Eggs Benedict(you can choose bacon, ahi and tomato. I chose ahi.) I have never eaten eggs Benedict. It was so delicious!!! I like hollandaise sauce!! it was delicious that I could not stop eating!! Between us, though Eggs Benedicts my friends ordered were decorated with flower and a pineapple, mine were not... -.- so it looked worse than others...less color Its locations and taste are also good! Location, location, location, we were seated literally a few steps from the beach. You couldn't ask for a better place to sit and eat a good meal. We went on a Friday evening around 6:30 and the atmosphere was amazing. There was a live band playing the sun was setting. The food was good and reasonably priced. You order at the window and they call you up to the window when your order is ready. I would have given a five star rating but the table was very sticky. This is the second disgustingly sticky table I've encountered. Maybe disgusting sticky tables are a "thing" in restaurants on Waikiki Beach. ‍ read more

Barefoot Beach Cafe was such a great find! We stopped by for breakfast and were really impressed. The smoothie was fresh, refreshing, and absolutely delicious. I ordered the breakfast burrito loaded with all the meats and avocado, and honestly, it surprised me in the best way. It was packed with flavor, filling, and much better than I expected. The best part is the location. It's right on the beach with a beautiful ocean view, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. Great food, great atmosphere, and a beautiful setting. Very nice restaurant with a super chill vibe. I ordered the chicken and chips. Chicken was very juicy and cones with a crap ton of fries. Fiancé ordered the Furikake fish sandwich. Also very good. This dish does NOT come with fries. The sales girl at the counter ask if we wanted fries, but failed to mention the $3.00 up charge for adding fries. Fiancé could've easily shared my fries. Compared to the prices at nearby eateries, this place is very reasonable. Great location, great environment, incredible view, and good cooked food. Can't really go wrong here. read more

I routinely visit Oahu about once a year. Waikiki, specifically Kaimana Beach, is my favorite local beach to dip my feet into. While visiting again this year, I discovered an awesome little restaurant called Barefoot Beach Cafe. This place is perfectly located right on the beach about a block away from Kaimana. Huge menu that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don't miss the ice cold coconut water served right from the coconut that they cut fresh for you. We ate here the last morning of our trip. I wish we had found it sooner! Everything is super fresh tasting. Definitely the best pancakes I've had in quite a long time. The view is great. You can watch people surfing while you eat. They're working on the sidewalk so there's kind of a fence there right now but hopefully that won't be there long. We waited about 25 minutes to order but the food came out very quickly. 4/5 only because it wasn't mouth dropping amazing. But definitely worth checking out on your trip read more
