Tried this beachside breakfast spot and it did not disappoint. Service was fast. The food was solid across the board--we had a breakfast burrito and an omelet, both fresh and really well made, and they definitely weren't stingy with the ham in the omelet. The highlight though was the smoothie served inside a pineapple, which was just as good as it looked. The vibe is hard to beat with the ocean right there, making it a perfect place to start the day. Total came out to about $50 with tip, which felt fair for the quality, portions, and location. Definitely worth checking out if you want a relaxed breakfast by the beach.
A local favorite I was told by my cousin who lives in HI. We met for dinner and everything we ordered was yummy! I was only able to take pic of my burger but we also had steak, grilled fish, fish and chips, and chicken. Super yummy! The view of the ocean (ocean front restaurant) I was amazing especially at sunset. Service was fast. You have to pay for water. And there was live musics and some dancing.
Breakfast with a view... Something that I always take for granted is the stunning new we have here in Hawai'i the blue ocean and clear skies...well not on this particular rainy day but along with that it was still such a beautiful place to take it all in. Many seem to do so as the line never seem to end though the pace of the service counter and kitchen seems to be at a decent pace which does give me time to scan over their massive menu with not just breakfast but some all day items available in the day as well is a great choice that I seem to have gravitated to and it was the fish and chips for me. Yes we're blessed to have fresh fish here on the islands and it was swordfish which I do love and decided to have that as it came with fries (regular or sweet potato) and tartar sauce though I do prefer ketchup on mine it came with two huge pieces that was very crispy and crunchy and with such generous portions I could only finish just a piece which is no problem as they have takeout boxes readily for you use is very nice and convenient along with condiment area for whatever you need. This very informal spot is nice since there are covered seating even the outdoor space has an umbrella so that you're not totally in the element and are able to enjoy this early morning view that the world comes here to take in as well along with fresh breakfast was the perfect pairing and see why many flock over to relax and enjoy like I did as well. Breakfast in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawai'i... When I told my sister that I was going to dine at Barefoot Beach Cafe - on the beach, she said, "Uhg... birds and flies"... and she's correct. That's why I don't really like outdoor dining. There are also feral cats and chickens in the 50th State. (Just a fact.) Air-conditioning is much appreciated in this humid environment. An enclosed space seems to have more cleanliness in general... and napkins won't fly away with the tradewinds... Plus, it was a drizzly day. We're lucky it didn't turn into a downpour. Well... the Aloha State is located in the Tropics... Anyway, Barefoot Beach Cafe does have a nice view... maybe it would be better on a sunnier day? This Cafe is an "order at the window, seat yourself, and help yourself to utensils" type of establishment. Service at the window was okay. Nothing extra nor memorable. We picked up our meals at the window on the left of the cashier's window and started taking photos. I got the Pineapple Smoothie because it was Instagram-worthy! Drinking a beverage out of a hollowed-out fruit seems so exotic! LOL! The Avocado Toast wasn't really toasted, and tasted "normal". Meh... I was starving, so I'm grateful for anything that I don't have to cook! I'm glad that we had a chance to visit this tourist spot. I don't think residents of Oahu would like it as much as a tourist... haha! Thanks to Irene and BunBun for being adventurous with Cony, Brown, and me!
We were in town to hang with our son and his girlfriend in Honolulu. He's a Junior at University of Hawai'i at Mānoa and as most students never have enough food and always welcoming their parent(s) are in town to treat them to a meal beyond Poke, burritos or cup of soup! Today we were enjoying the beautiful Waikiki Beach sun and had plans to have lunch at a relatively "expensive" resturant over looking the beach a d surf. In fact, the hostess shared we could order from bar food a d therefore order drinks. However, when we started to place a food order we were told the kitchen was closed until 3:30 pm. Frustrated, we walked down the street to the Barefoot Cafe which was open at 2 pm when we arrived until 9 pm. I hopped in the order line while my wife, son and his girlfriend searched for a menu (they had a QR menu too). The setting is verr inviting beach seating, bright umbrellas and grand views of Waikiki iconic beach. The only "ding" I would share with future visitors is the line wait. There were about 18-20 people in line and it took 45 minutes before I reached the front of the line to make our order. Our cashier was Angel M. and server was Laiani. They and the other staff were very friendly, helpful and great sense of humor. We placed our orders (they listed items that were no longer on the beach menu which is a nice touch!) My wife ordered a BBQ chicken sandwich with sweet potatoes fries; our son ordered the grilled Ahi sandwich, sweet potato fries and a whole pineapple smoothie was a special dramatic treat for him!; his girlfriend ordered the garlic shrimp plate and a mangolada; i ordered the fish plate of the day which was an extremely fresh and delicious swordfish! Excellent! We were able to get a picnic table and umbrella to enjoy choices. We did have to "fight off" the very aggressive pigeons who attacked our son's fish sandwich while he got napkins and condiments for the table. Hearing about our unprovoked "pigeons poachers" attack, Laiani, our server graciously and kindly offer a replacement. Overall, our later February dining experience at the Barefoot Cafe was fun, yummy and full of Aloha! Thanks Angel, Laiani and the entire grill team!
Casual lunch spot but with a lot of options. Our group had some of their smoothies, pulled pork burger, breakfast burrito, quesadilla, fries, hot dog and sticky pudding. Everything that we tried was delicious. No complaints here. Menu will have something for everyone. Beautiful beach views on a clear day.
Our hotel was at the east end of Waikiki Beach, and searching for nearby restaurants, I found one a short walk, on the ocean. The next morning, we walked along the Waikiki shore to Barefoot Beach Cafe, where we ordered breakfast. There was a line, but it moved smoothly. They have a lot of choices on the breakfast menu (served from 8 a.m.--2 p.m.). We both ordered the omelet and went for the omelet. I had Portuguese sausage and cheese, while my wife ordered the green pepper and ham. We found a seat right near the promenade, where we could look out and see the ocean (over a short planter-box/fence). After a few minutes, our order was ready at the pickup window. Both our omelettes were full of the add-ons, not skimpy like some we've had elsewhere. They were also served with red potato hash (more like thinly sliced potatoes, kind of like very skinny fries that were not deep-fried but pan-fried). We both also enjoyed fresh pineapple smoothies. We enjoyed the meal so much that we came back for lunch the following day. I enjoyed their Kalua pork quesadilla, while my wife had their (daily special) fish tacos. And... we came back one evening for a smoothie while listening to Hawaiian music after sunset (they have live music every night!). So, if you're seeking a tasty meal with fresh ingredients at reasonable prices without all the busy-ness of the Waikiki tourist spots, this is the place. We'll be back!
Delicious Hidden Breakfast spot on Queens beach. Located between Walls and the waikiki aquarium. Parking is street parking or at the Honolulu zoo parking. We went here after the Petwalk at kapiolani park perfect breakfast spot and Dog Friendly eating on the outdoor tables. Gorgeous view of the beach and great beach vibes. We shared an Acai bowl, eggs Benedict and taco trio. They even serve Illy coffee delicious! Order and pay for your food then grab a spot to sit and wait for them to call your name. Service is so friendly and they do a great job at getting the food out efficiently. Perfect place for breakfast and lunch.
Aloha! Very delicious food here. I went to grab togo lunch for me and my husband. The line is long at lunch time, but worth it! Their spicy poke is delicious. When they are in a rush, make sure you are loud and clear because it can get loud and noisy fast. The view of the water right beside you is beautiful as well. Mahalo
Amazing location! It's in walking distance from Waikiki and Kapiolani Regional Park, so you really can walk right up from the beach. The acai bowl was really good, and my boyfriend said he really enjoyed the burger and bread pudding. They have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options if you are into that sort of thing. The granola for the acai bowl has a gluten-free option which can be hard to find! The views are great, that alone is reason enough to stop by. I look forward to coming back for their breakfast menu sometime.
Great spot to stop in and recharge with a little lunch. Not too busy around 1 in the afternoon on a cloudy weekday. Lots of tables occupied, but the line wasn't too long and moved quickly. We shared an ahi poke bowl and a mangolada. Both were very pretty and tasty. Really appreciate that they have a whole vegan section to their menu. Lots to choose from all around with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and in between. Glad we stumbled upon them.
Waiks staycay. Didn't want hotel food and wanted to just try some little place. 3 stars cuz hubs had a pretty gorgeous acai bowl. All kine stuff on top. My food was a huge disappointment. I wanted fried rice. Supposedly had spam, pocho sausage, bell peppers, oyster sauce, and whatevs else. NO TASTE...but I guess that wasn't an ingredient. Got a side of shoyu and it was like when grams would add water to our Aloha Shoyu to make it "less sodium" and to stretch it. I found about 6 tiny diced pieces of spam/sausage. Spam was still the color it is in the can, so it was not cooked either. Yes, you can eat it out of the can, but that's not what you typically pay for. What a waste. And those birds. Oh damn those birds... they are more aggressive than our football team. read more

When we were planning our Hawaii trip, I had read a lot of online reviews about our hotel, The Lotus, which was in the Diamondhead area of Honolulu, close to Waikiki Beach. A reviewer had mentioned that she had eaten most of her meals at the Barefoot Beach Cafe. After reading that, we had to try it, since it was within a 10 minute walk from our hotel. The first night, we had dinner at the hotel next door, the Kaimana, which was very good but ended up being well over $100 for two entrees for two people. We decided we needed to find something a little less pricey in the area. We walked over to Barefoot Beach Cafe the next day for breakfast. Per the Yelp reviews, you sometimes have to stand in line for quite a while. We took turns standing in line while the other grabbed a table. There are covered tables near the counter as well as tables overlooking the beach, many in the shade. You can grab a laminated menu at the front of the line or scan your phone's QR code to look at the menu while in line. We both ordered the breakfast burrito, which was very large and filling. Their prices are almost what I would consider "mainland prices," which was awesome. You order at the window and the friendly cashier will answer your questions. Everyone who worked there was so nice. There's such an "aloha" spirit at this place. We loved everything we ordered and ended up eating 90% of our meals at Barefoot Beach Cafe. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have live entertainment every night of the week and they even host wedding receptions as well. There were wedding receptions two of the nights that we were there. We got to watch the couples dance their first dance. They have amazing pineapple smoothies, which are served in a hollowed out pineapple. I highly recommend trying them. They are a bit expensive, but it was a fun treat to try in Hawaii. We tried many different menu items and loved them all. Their portions are generous. No free refills on iced tea, however, which is normal for most restaurants we tried in Hawaii. read more

I'd definitely recommend the Barefoot Beach Cafe, if you are staying in the area. If you're going to breakfast, I'd recommend arriving a little before they open to get in line -- the line gets pretty long. The quality of the food and price was great! I especially liked the acai bowl. read more

Right on the beach with the waters of Waikiki and a beautiful sunset view as its backdrop, this place has an ideal location! Separate from all the hotels concentrated in the center of Waikiki Beach, this outdoor eatery at the end of Waikiki stands alone. Casual and informal, it's a great place to hang and listen to live music for locals and tourists alike. The old school local musicians were great inserting their talk story humor in between their beautiful mostly Hawaiian music. Food is ordered at the counter after standing in a long and very slow moving line at dinner time. I would give it 5 stars for the ambiance and chill experience of eating on the beach with live music and without having to pay resort prices. But having to wait in line 1 hour just to order food was a 1 star experience. Luckily there was music to listen to and my phone to catch up on my YELP reviews and social media or I might have left! The food is made to order which is probably part of the reason for the long ass wait. My fresh fish (swordfish) plate $15 was decent. I liked that the fish was not overcooked and I really liked the house made salad dressing on the greens. My friend had the loco moco which was big, soft and smothered in gravy! Yum! I noticed there is a vegan section on the menu which includes a vegan moco as well. I wish this place could make their system more efficient, but then maybe it would be too crowded and hard to get a table. read more

Location: Highly recommend if you are staying in the area since it is a short walk away and the path is along side the beach/park. Food: We stopped in twice while on vacation since we enjoyed our smoothies and the view so much the first time. We returned for breakfast and tried the Egg sandwich, fried rice with egg and the avocado toast with egg. Everything we ordered was good, no complaints at all. Everything was fresh. Service: You get in line to order then seat yourself. We had no issues when we visited on weekdays and food was ready quickly. Overall: I would highly recommend for the smoothies and breakfast! You can sit in the patio and have a lovely view with breakfast. read more

What's not to love about this place?! Simple, delicious, reasonably-priced food -- served up literally steps away from iconic Waikiki beach. Seating is entirely outdoors, but there are plenty of options both in the sun and the shade. Their signature smoothie is served inside a whole pineapple, but they have other flavors to choose from. We opted for a tropical blend of passion fruit and guava. Pancakes were extra fluffy and served with lots of fruit. read more

Don't let the line deceive you. We arrived with a line of about 10-12 in front of us. It took 45 minutes to order. Placing our order took about a minute, but apparently, others need 5-10 minutes to place their order. While eating, I'm watching people in line move about 5 feet every 15 minutes. My wife had the loco moco. Huge portion of rice and she said hers was not bad. I had the fish and chips and mine too, was not bad. Very average, but the tartar sauce was very good. It's a "shack," and as long as you keep that in mind, you will be okay. Live entertainment and catching the sunset was nice. read more

Strolled along this spot as we were walking the beach and noticed it was close to sunset so we decided to grab dinner here. My wife ordered the surf and turf and as it came out her first words was that it smelled bomb. The shrimp was really juicy and even though she ordered mild it still had a good kick to it. The steak wasn't anything special. The gourmet fries was Parmesan garlic fries with butter, which I'm a fan of! The staff was very friendly and there was a live music band to help soak in the Hawaiian culture. There were a lot of birds that bothered the other guests and tried to eat their food. So be prepared to shoo some away! read more

Came to this place and wanted to try their garlic shrimp but sadly they don't serve it for brunch. We had an açaí bowl and their Royal loco moco because guess what, we're in Hawaii. Also got a side of spicy poke with that but just in case you want to do the same thing, we got charged with the price almost similar to the full price of the dish. The loco moco was probably the biggest one I've ever had, served with a runny egg on top. Their açaí bowl was refreshing and of course you can't go wrong with that. This place is self-served so be mindful with that when you wait to order. They have a beautiful setup right by Waikiki with some flowers and tables looking over the ocean. read more

Truly beachfront eating! It is a little off the walking path as it's directly along the shoreline of the Waikiki beach. There is plenty of public parking although some is free some is metered parking so pay attention. It always seems to have a crowd throughout the day due to location to Waikiki Beach. There were two of us in our party. One opted for the cheeseburger and added bacon with fries. I opted for the garlic shrimp plate and made it spicy. The food was good but the burger was incredibly messy because they put the sauce on the bottom bun and then placed everything on top. So when you went to grab the burger to take a bite of it it just instantly started falling apart and my husband ended up having to eat it with a knife and Fork. The garlic shrimp was OK. The spicy sauce is really not that spicy and while the presentation was beautiful but the dish itself just seemed to be lacking something that I can't put my finger on. This location is close to the aquarium and KiaMana beach resort (.3 miles). read more

Barefoot Beach Cafe was the perfect lunch spot after being in the water/beach all morning! Although it's mostly outside (under a covered patio), they do require vaccination proof for dine-in. I had left mine at our hotel so we had to take it to go, but thankfully there are plenty of tables in the park... with a VIEW! I ordered the Fresh Caught Fish of the Day Plate which was swordfish, the BF had the Furikake Fresh Fish Sandwich, and we got a Pineapple Smoothie to share. The menu says "check surfboard for prep" but it actually didn't list the prep, just the fish, so I didn't quite know what to expect. Regardless, it was delicious and was the first time I actually enjoyed eating capers! The food took a while, but it was obvious they paid attention to the details. Everything from the fish, rice, to the salad dressing was spot on. read more
After honoring and paying respect to the thousands of brave and courageous military servicemembers who sacrificed their lives in defense of Pearl Harbor, we picked up my daughter's best friend from the airport because she flew from Maui to spend time with my daughter. We were famished from our day trip to Pearl Harbor and we wanted to treat my daughter's bestie to a nice dinner. Initially, we had planned to grab dinner to go and then eat our dinner at the lagoon at the Hilton Hawaiian Village because we'd be able to see fireworks. After my daughter did some research, we changed our dinner plans to eat at the Barefoot Beach Cafe (BBC) in Waikiki. For the food, location, and vibe, we made a great decision to dine there. BBC is located in Waikiki, Oahu, Hawaii. It is literally on the famous Waikiki beach. Just follow the main road Kalākaua Ave past the Duke Kahanamoku statue and you'll find BBC across from a public park. There is street parking, but that was jammed full on a Friday, so the best place to park would be the public park and just walk a short distance to the restaurant. From a distance it doesn't look like a restaurant, but instead, it looks like where public restrooms would be found and that is the case. When you get to the restaurant, you instantly realize why Barefoot Beach Cafe is a popular restaurant because of its amazing view of Waikiki beach. You order your food at the counter and then wait for your name to be called. It is only umbrella-covered outdoor seating and it's first come, first serve. There was an awesome live band playing popular music. The views of the ocean were unbelievable and fortunately, we had a prime spot to watch the Friday fireworks. Customer service was mediocre especially with them running out of napkins and not filling the container where the napkins were supposed to be. Besides the breathtaking location and stunning ambience, the reason to have lunch or dinner at Barefoot Beach Cafe is for its delicious food. One entree that I definitely wanted to chow down on while we were on vacation here at Oahu was a Loco Moco. Loco Moco is my favorite dish and is the meal that I use to gauge whether a Hawaiian restaurant is any good. Earlier on our trip, I tried my first loco moco in Hawaii, but I wasn't blown away by that first time experience. You will be blown away by BBC's loco moco. Their version is called the Royal Loco Moco, which comes with a barefoot burger, veal demi-glace gravy, sunny side up egg, green onions, and steamed white rice. Highly recommend that you pay extra for the surfer's fried rice to replace the white rice and ask for their creamy spicy ahi poke as a side for an additional charge. Compared to my earlier experience with loco moco on the island, BBC's blew me away with its value for your money, the deliciousness of all of its components, the heartiness of the burger, the finger licking gravy, and that dish was beautiful. The added poke just brought my entree over the top. My family and my daughter's bestie devoured their dishes and couldn't stop raving about their food. For dessert, my daughter and I shared the Uncle Glenn's Bread Pudding and it was divine. Barefoot Beach Cafe is a Must Visit restaurant if you're visiting Oahu. The views are majestic, the food will make you satisfied, and the vibe will make you appreciate that you're in paradise. This was the perfect place to thank my daughter's best friend for taking the time to hang out with our family while we were visiting Hawaii. read more

If it wasn't for the flies that kept coming back every few minutes, I would give them five stars. This place had live music and a great view. My garlic shrimp was soooo good I could eat it everyday. The sunrise smoothie was meh. It tasted more like a slushy with mixed juices instead of fresh fruit. Although everything tastes better when you add a flower to it! The staff was very friendly and my food came out in about 5 min. I would maybe get it to go next time. read more

This spot is hidden from the tourist strip. It's situated at a far end of Waikiki beach. Tables on the outside with a great view of the ocean. If you come in the evening the patio seating has a great view of the sunset and as it gets dark, the city lights slowly comes on. The pictures speak for itself. The food was fantastic. I got to taste each of my family's plate and loved everyone of them. I think that the loco Moco was my favorite. The ambiance of the place was casual and fun as it was right at the beach. To top it off, we had live music as well. If you are looking for a casual place but excellent food, this is a must visit place! read more

The best thing about this place is the beautiful Waikiki beach view you get while you are having your breakfast. The views are stunning!! You order your own food and then sit outside next to the ocean, very beautiful. The food is very good and they have a good variety. We order Fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes and Sweetbread French Toast . Both were delicious. Let's not forget the Delicious pineapple smoothie and the passion fruit guava smoothie!! Staff service was friendly We would definitely recommend. read more

They are. And every Friday when they do fireworks. But they aren't right in front on the beach.

No, they don't serve and it's not formally advertised as byob. It's on the beach and it's patrolled. I've seen people bring their own alcoholic drinks though.
