I've been to Double Trouble three times now and find myself gravitating here every time I get my car washed at Two Brothers Hand Wash. They've got great corn tortilla tacos for breakfast, house tap kombucha, dairy free hot chocolate, gluten-free cookies, and gluten-free cupcakes. If you have children under the age of three, they have an astroturf in the back. My allergies acted up a little inside due to dust. But they had all the front doors open due to plumbing issues accompanied by an unpleasant smell. The smell was so bad that I left. read more

I really like this new place - it's unassuming from the outside but the coffee is great and the prices are reasonable for drinks and vegan food. Went here for brunch last Saturday and it appears that the brunch menu is a new thing, so I thought I'd share an image. I got the French toast and it was fantastic! My friend is vegan and they had vegan options on their regular menu for her. Nothing on their brunch menu is specifically vegan. The mimosas were cheap and delicious. We sat inside because it's too damn hot outside. The tables are very wide which makes it awkward to sit across from each other if you're planning on having a conversation, but we opted to sit at the communal table next to each other instead and that worked just fine. Service was great! The menu and ordering system was a little confusing. It wasn't clear that the regular menu was available during "brunch time" until we asked. Also, just figuring out which door to go through gives you pause when you go for the first time. For these two reasons I'm giving 4/5 stars. I'll definitely be back! read more

Great patio. Good food. But blasting death-punk-metal-screaming banshee music so loud you can't hear yourself think on a lovely Sunday afternoon is begging people to leave. Okay to have musical preferences--but to be so overwhelmingly obnoxiously loud and aggressive with zero thought about how it might affect anyone not into death by noise is weird for a community eatery and hang-out. read more

Really cute bar. Lots of patio space in the backyard with plenty of lights and a stage for live music. They sell food, cocktails, beer and coffee. I've came here to get work done before and it was nice. However, the evening bartender was not helpful at all. We came in and sat at the bar, because that's how other bars generally work. We sat there for about 10 minutes without any acknowledgement and no other customers. Finally he asked how we were doing and we asked for drinks and he said sure. We later learned they service customers through a register at the end of the bar, no thanks to him. After ordering and PAYING for our drinks we only got one. He forgot about the other and we didn't get it for 15 more minutes. Keep in mind this place is pretty dead. Besides our terrible experience with him the bar is spacious and has potential. Looking forward to coming back when there's a different bartender. read more

SO happy to have finally tried out Double Trouble after the owners have been teasing it for months! I've gone twice in the last week. They have so many food and drink options to choose from -- burgers, quesadillas, tacos, and sandwiches. Extensive coffee and cocktail menu. Every time I've come the service has been amazing, food was quick and hearty, and there's tons of seating (outdoor space that is shaded as well). I definitely will be back. 2 small iced coffees with a large side of attitude. Our first time visiting this establishment. Basic interior with built-in bench seating and some freestanding tables and chairs. A community billboard with flyers promoting local shows at various venues around town. Beer selection on blackboard. Order at the counter and experience the superior attitude of your barista/bartender. Even more attitude when you come looking for your order. Was it something we said? The 20% tip not enough? Geez Louise, folks. Lighten the blank up. Regardless, we rather enjoyed ourselves here, or rather, I did. My husband refuses to give them a second chance. They will survive just fine without us old folks ruining the scenery and youthful vibe. Good selection of music, and an inviting looking, dog-friendly outdoor area with picnic tables, Adirondack chairs and misters. Parking here is a challenge. Stopped in to Double Trouble on my weekday cycling route. It made for an excellent cafe-stop offering vegan tacos, pastries, and all the coffee you need. I had a breakfast taco featuring their house breakfast sausage, salsa, black beans, and a corn tortilla. It was made-to-order and took roughly 8 minutes to prepare. It was outstanding. Had I not seen that it was vegan I would not have known. I also grabbed one of their mega cookies to go. It was INSANE. The cookie must've weighed 1.5 pounds and was so good. It was the perfect texture and had the right amount of salt. I would highly recommend grabbing one for the road. read more

I eat out at a lot of restaurants in Austin and when I tell you this is one of my top THREE fav spots I ain't lying. They have everything one needs for joy. A full bar with craft cocktails, frozens. Incredible food, some of the best tacos I have had (and they're vegan-what!?) and they have just expanded their menu to include meat. Their matcha is also delicious, the perfect balance. They have handmade salsas that are self serve-multiple flavors. A huge patio with games and lots of seating. But we really need to get into is the food here. The vegan birria tacos are made from jackfruit and in my opinion a must try in Austin. I am obsessed with fried diablo avocado taco. The texture is amazing. You can bring your pup in too, they have treats and they are welcome to walk in to order and then hang out on the patio. The staff is friendly and chill. It's the perfect spot to work or study from, catch up with a friend, or grab some cocktails on a date! It's also located in a great walkable areas of multiple shops, bars, and restaurants. The new Double Trouble Coffee Shop by the owners of Barrett's Coffee just opened, I went there today to work on my blog jetskishaman, and will give an honest review. I enjoyed how friendly the staff are and the natural light. One thing that is almost always left out of Yelp Reviews, as everyone is so eager to take photos of their drinks, is the seating and electrical outlets. Double Trouble has hard tables with severe angles and hard benches which are a bit uncomfortable and not as comfy as regular chairs and tables or a cushioned bench. I sat at the table closest to the front door and there were plenty of electrical outlets for laptops. It would be amazing if there was an accent chair or loveseat for those of us in grind mode who cowork at coffee shops for hours and spend more over that time period. For OG Austinites, you'll remember this is where Phara's Hookah Lounge used to be where you could eat Mediterranean food, watch belly dancers and smoke hookah. I came here to work since I work remote running my own business, as a blogger and consultant. For those who want to get in tunnel vision, and grind, this coffee shop is mid, not great yet. But it's ok. If you want to come and socialize in more of a bar atmosphere - I think that's a better fit for the crowd and the interior and exterior spaces. Barret's roasts their own coffee - I assume that's what they are using here - and they have good quality roasts. How that will be detracted from, given the strictly vegan Double Trouble, remains to be seen. I think this is a better space to go see live music, or in cooler weather, hang with friends in the outside courtyard in the back with wooden picnic tables, than it is as a coffee shop - at least in these early phases. I use a burr grinder at home, aeropress, and have a wide selection of coffee beans in my freezer (including Barrett's Ethiopian Yirgacheffe) so, I may be a bit particular about having half and half with my coffee. If that's not a biggie, then, you'll probably enjoy Double Trouble! read more

Full disclosure they were pricey. They were $15. For $15 at my favorite vegan place I get a full meal, with sides, not just tacos. read more

I was disappointed in my experience here. The employee who took my order at the register was haughty/unfriendly. The food was overpriced and portion was tiny, meanwhile they couldn't even bring napkins or silverware out to the table despite prompting for a 20% tip. The bathrooms had no paper towel dispenser, paper towels, or hand dryer. Also, they advertised as all vegan, and within a week of me first going had started to put non vegan options on the menu without announcing they were no longer all vegan (Vegan Nom has separated from this establishment). A friend ordered something without being aware of this change and ended up unknowingly eating animal products. Not cool. There are way better options on North Loop for both drinks and food, so I won't come here again. read more

Wanna love this place as I love a good coffee/alcohol combo location. The patio is lovely. But good lord the cashier obvs hates his job. And it's a kid zoo. I came here to enjoy happy hour and a large group of people brought all their kids as if it was a kids play scape and then let them run amuck around everyone's tables, screaming everywhere.
