After several recommendations from family and friends, trying the new airport restaurant on a Saturday night was a last-minute decision. The renovations have turned this place into a bright and comfortable spot with the ongoing entertainment of the airplanes visible through the wall of windows. Perhaps reading the reviews first may have changed my expectations. After being seated by the windows and having our drink orders taken, I realized that every table in that area had at least one toddler and all of them were mobile. Staff was attempting to navigate food/drink trays while little boys zoomed cars along the floor and raced to look out the windows. It was very loud. The beer was really good. The limited menu is easily doable and pairs well with the beer. We ordered a dip which never came and my daughter requested no tomatoes on her sandwich but it had them. When questioned, the server said it was not on the ticket. We decided not to make a big fuss since considering the decibel level, she may not have heard us. The apologetic manager did offer to make us churros for dessert. Other than that, our sandwiches were large and tasty. I have had kids/grandkids and know how hard it is to find family-friendly places. When I looked at reviews, the first thing I noticed was about kid's birthday parties. I realize in these times, a business cannot turn anyone away, but little ones do not stay seated long. There is a secondary room; maybe it could be made even more kid-friendly and safer for other patrons and staff to cater to that particular group of patrons. After all, what child doesn't like airplanes? We will give it another shot but probably during the day. read more

Had a breakfast meeting for about 50 of us at the Barrio Restuarant and Brewing Co. recently. The setting is great and you can watch planes, mostly small, take off and land from the largest privately owned airport in the country. So, being that the setting was good, I cannot say much for the buffet breakfast that we all had. Water, coffee, iced tea or soda was available. The food was fried potatoes, paper thin pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs and sausage. The bacon appeared to have been fried then deposited into serving pans with all the grease and fat included, the bacon was swimming in it, none of it was crispy, it was all coated in grease. The sausages were a bit better, cooked crispy with only a bit of grease. The eggs were standard, just eggs scrambled and cooked. After eating what was offered, your plate was left with a pool of fat and grease, not very appealing. There was no toast, bread, rolls, fruit or anything else that would constitute and reasonable breakfast buffet. I should say, I do not know if this is what was contracted between the folks who put it together and the venue, so that may have been all that was paid for. I must say, looking at what was offered and how it was presented, it was one of the worst, most unappealing spreads of breakfast fool I have seen in quite awhile. I am sure ordering from the menu would be a better option, so I cannot give an opinion on the total menu or quality of food for Barrio, all I can do is comment on what I and we had. I found out that the cost of this was $25 per person....outrageous price for a totally subpar buffet read more

So glad to have the Airport terminal restaurant and bar open again! It's a whole lot better than it used to be. I could make the case to bring the food quality up just a bit, maybe once the volume picks up. Nothing is bad, I just feel like the other locations are more exotic. We need more airport restaurants so give this one a try. read more

We came in for lunch and a beer and stayed for an extra beer. The hamburgers were very good and the service was excellent. It's an airport restaurant and we watched small aircraft takeoff and land as we enjoyed our lunch. Very cool. read more

We saw this on the news last week of opening and looked really good. We made reservations and came out for breakfast from Jackrabbit and Camelback and was worth the drive! Food, service and ambiance outstanding! Please be patient with staff as they are working on getting more help. read more

If you're expecting fancy, stick with the Scottsdale Airpark! The beer was good. The food, we were there for breakfast in a Sunday morning, was tasty! I had the Monte Cristo, browned to perfection, and flaky! The jam, raspberry, they could sell and I would buy it! My husband enjoyed the Rojo Chilaquiles. He would've liked it spicier. He said the coffee wasn't bad. Our waiter/ bartender, Austin. He was on fire! Don't mistake his energy for anything but that. He knew the menu, was attentive, but not irritating. He works long hours. About time this place got filled with a respectful restaurant. I have been to the one at Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport in the east valley. This will be a great place in years to come. Great food, awesome beer and the happy hours are legit. We had breakfast this morning, and the omelettes we had were great. The ambience and being able to look at the airfield is a special treat. Happy to get a Barrio Brewing in the area, love the airport location with the view of airplanes taking off and landing. We went for lunch and enjoyed the experience overall. We finally have a restaurant again inside KDVT, Deer Valley Airport. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast in this newly opened eatery just this week. Service was excellent, the food was tasty and served plenty hot, and the venue itself has a clean, modern, minimalist atmosphere. The old KDVT restaurant was home to hundreds of donated model airplanes suspended from the ceiling. Thankfully the new owners didn't dispose of the cherished memorabilia. They cleaned up the planes and made some attractive new displays with them. Barrio Brewing Co is a great addition to the area, and we look forward to many more enjoyable visits. read more

2nd visit not as impressive as the first but still a good find. Our server was terrific but an appetizer plate was on the table that needed a rewash and a short toothpick was left in my husband's Sonoran dog which could have ended badly had he not sliced it. Not busy for a Sunday after church but it doesn't seem like word is out in the community that they are open. read more

Went to the new Barrio Brewing Company restaurant that just opened at Deer Valley Airport tonight.First off they did a very nice job remodeling the old restaurant that was here,the interior is beautiful. The wait staff was great....BUT they're gonna have to step up the food or they won't last long in my opinion... I got a French dip sandwich that was barely warm,the roll was very hard almost seemed stale... Everybody in our party of four food was on the cold side and the french fries were ice cold on all plates and not crisp at all ...The beer was amazing. The views were amazing if the food can come up to being as good as everything else this little place it's going to be a big hit . I'm sure right now it's just some growing pains and I'm not giving up on them yet...They have a great happy hour and do a reverse happy hour as well so that's a big plus read more

The flyest restaurant in North Phoenix goes to... Barrio Brewing Co tucked in the Deer Valley Airport! Awesome vibes, fly views and good food! This restaurant faces the runway and puts on a show without even trying. It's GREAT for everyone from after work happy hour crowd, craft beer connoisseurs or families! We went with our littles and they were in awe. Small planes & helicopters galore! What's even better is the observation deck on top of the restaurant. Nice casual yet upscale neighborhood brew pup and good grub with an aero view. Our first time here having the Rueben and raspberry ale. Very good classic Rueben and unusually good pint. We were excited to check the Phoenix location out since we loved the one in Tucson. We were very disappointed; the service was slow and took forever for us to get our beers. Once we got our 1st round of beers and ordered our food now that is a whole other story. Beers yes were good; food maybe could have been good. We ordered some wings assuming they would come as an appetizer, well we were wrong they came with our meal, which everything but one sandwich was cold. The Sonoran Dog was soggy and cold from sitting in the kitchen too long, the fish n' chips were lukewarm, the Southwest Chicken Panini was actually hot, but extremely dry. We ordered a Southwestern Burger, but it never came out. Instead one of our party members was given the wings and no burger. The sad part is that the server asked what kind of fries he wanted with his burger and then told us we never ordered a burger and thought it was just fries as a side which was not the case but even if it was they never came either. So while we were all eating our cold food waiting for the burger that they cooked well done. (they never asked us how we wanted the burger cooked) We did order another round of beers, after 20min we had to flag someone down to see if they were coming. Yet again no one knew anything about it. Needless to say the burger was not eaten. They did take it off our bill, but when the manager asked us how things were we told her not great. The sad thing is she did not seem to care at all but instead had an attitude towards us. read more

So excited to have a brewery and more beer options in the neighborhood. My husband got a brat with sauerkraut and I got a California burger and paid the up charge for beer battered fries. It all tasted great! However the portion of fries was very small. The brat was also on the small side and my husband said the sauerkraut was dry. I tried the Hipsterville and Citrizona IPAs. Good, although the Hipsterville wasn't very cold. I'd like to see another IPA option in the 7-8% ABV range. I'll definitely come back and try it again! read more

A friend's birthday party was held here in a separate room. The Barrio team were fantastic! The person getting drinks was engaged and attentive. She was wonderful. When it comes to food the Manager went above and beyond. I , unfortunately, was allergic to most of the food selected by the host. The Manager had a special plate made so I could join the group that was included in the quoted cost. I was willing to not eat, I am used to it, but the Manager wasn't going to have it. The food was horrible!! Corn Beef and Hash not good, Biscuits and gravy not good! Smoothies not good! We use to love going there for brunch before it was Barrios's. I've enjoyed their beers, and it's a big open location, fine for kids. I like that they have a shuffleboard table, though it's warped as heck. They just don't have great food. I tried a monte cristo and chiliqueles today for breakfast, not very good, but I've also tried their burger and fries, and they didn't do that well either. Servers have been friendly, but don't come around a ton. I hope it stays open and does well, but they need some new kitchen staff. read more

Terrible food and horrendously slow service. I'm a pilot who flies out of this airport so I had high hopes and a strong bias in favor of Barrio. The quesadillas I ordered had barely any effort into making them edible. Gross. Also, it appears to me that the management knows nothing or cares not a bit about customer wait times. It took a long time just to get my menu, and that was after I had to grab someone to ask for it. The wait after ordering was agonizing. After my friend and I finished eating, another agonizing wait just to get someone to get our plates and grab our check. It was not busy. This experience was nothing in comparison to the original Barrio location in Tucson. Come here if you want tasteless and soggy $15 quesadillas that will take you 2 hours to eat and pay for. read more

Terrible and will not be returning. I knew they might be busy since it's Father's Day, so I called ahead and made a reservation. When we got there, it wasn't very busy at all, I definitely didn't need the reservation. Our food took over an hour to come out, with one of the meals arriving a solid 15 minutes later than the others. Two meals were completely inedible: an Althea sandwich with bread so soggy it was falling apart and a hot dog that came on a dirty plate. I wish we had left before getting the food and just gone somewhere else. All the other tables in our section had the same problems and I saw one of them speaking with the manager. Our waitress was great and did the best she could, I really felt for her, her whole section was just tables waiting an hour or more for food. This was a huge disappointment because we loved the place that was here in the past. read more

I really wanted to like this place as I love the Tucson location, but our experience today was completely unacceptable. Father's Day is a BIG day for breweries, anyone can tell you that. So, I was shocked when it took over an hour to get our food. The restaurant wasn't even full, but clearly the kitchen and bar were both backed up. No reason given, just to expect a ten minute wait for a beer (at a brewery!). Matt, one of three managers on duty supposedly, thought his top priority was bussing tables (there was no wait). Rather than taking a few minutes to talk to each table and explain the delay he chose to hide behind a broom and let his staff, all new, take the brunt of customer complaints. And I must say that I have never seen so much patience from a restaurant crowd where it was obvious everyone had the same experience or worse than what we had. I commend everyone who suffered through this experience as they did so with minimal complaints. I spoke with Matt and told him that I was very invested in the location succeeding because I like the Tucson location, and there's not much up in North Phoenix. He had no explanation for the delay, no plan for next steps, no idea of what to do or how to fix the issues, no apologies, nothing, despite claiming he's been in the industry for 30 years. * Stunned silence from me * You know things are bad at any business when front line staff tell you that management won't do anything if you bring issues to their attention. Our waitress, Katie, bless her, was doing what she could. She was there since open and was clearly stressed out. To hear her say that her GM, who was in the kitchen, wouldn't be of any more assistance than Matt truly broke my heart. It's shameful to leave front line staff exposed like that while you cower in the back. I truly hope that Matt can learn how to be a manager after 30 years. I further hope that Barrio take this review in the spirit intended, one of support. We won't be going back, obviously, and won't encourage others to go either, which is disappointing. read more

My friend George and I had lunch today at Barrio Brewing. Unfortunately the experience left a lot to be desired. My buddy ordered the Althea, a sourdough bread, Smoked Turkey sandwich that was piled high with lettuce, tomato and red onion. It came with fries that were a bit soggy. The sandwich was just "ok" and the sourdough bread tasted like plain white bread. I, on the otherhand, was a bit more adventurous with my Reuben. There wasn't a lot of corned beef on the sandwich and it definitely wasn't as advertised as "Sliced thin and piled high on grilled rye bread". See pics below. My side was the onion rings and they weren't bad but it also lacked flavor, or perhaps just a little salt would have really helped. I will say the Rueben was tasty, even though it lacked the "piled high" corned beef. I seriously wanted to like this place since I live close by, but it may be a while until I give it another shot. Couple disclaimers... 1) I love the original Barrio in Tucson and go any time I can. 2) I was super excited to hear they were opening in Phoenix with the same menu. The location is great and the interior of the restaurant are nice and very spacious. The Beer is brewed in Tucson so it's as good as down there. That's where the positives end. Unfortunately Phoenix Barrio is not even close to Tucson Barrio. It's a name/menu licensed by the original Barrio in Tucson and not actually owned/operated by that group. The service was ok but we got the impression that a significant portion of the staff was highly under the influence of various substances as they were very erratic with pinpoint pupils and our server would disappear for long periods of time and forget things frequently. The food is a disaster. The pretzel appetizers don't look or taste anything like Tucson and came cold and stale. The paninis aren't pressed like a panini and were dry with stale bread. The sliders came drenched in grease with no flavor at all. The sauce they call Buffalo sauce is definitely not buffalo sauce. I'm so wanted to like this place but unless things change significantly we won't be back. read more

Went for lunch, lots of choices. I had the chicken panini with onion rings. My husband had the carnitas pretzel bread sliders and fries. My sandwich was supposed to have the chipotle Mayo on the sandwich, they served it on the side, which turned out great since I prefer to dip into sauces. Chicken was tender. Slider rolls fresh. We wished we could have sampled the avocado tomatillo sauce. Gives us a reason to return! By the way we sat at the bar, great view of all the refrigerator full of domestic beers and canned versions of Barrio beers. We did sample the porter, which was tasty. All around they are working out the kinks on their newest location! Nikki, our server was friendly and attentive. She even quizzed us on the menu, we had fun! We will be back. read more

Waiting for this place to reopen in Deer Valley and excited to try the food and drinks but, horribly disappointed. Ordered fish n chips, claims fresh but it was obviously from a box and burnt, fries was bland, coleslaw was served raw dried veges w out any dressing. Brought it to our waiters attention and was told, that's pretty normal here. Ordered a cocktail as well and was charged extra drinks because I ordered a cocktail not on the menu but told they can make something similar but charged for each individual alcohol used to make mine. Friends ordered nachos and that came late and sloppy so it was sitting in the back soaking. No apologies, whatsoever and gave me the check. Definitely not returning or recommending. 1 star is for the great views only! read more
