    Famous French Dip Au Jus*
    Amanda R.

Wao! This is my new favorite restaurant in Austin. Not only the food was amazing but the service was out of this world as well. Is it a bit overprice, specially, for the sandwich? Yes, but honestly the quality justifies every penny. They are not kidding when they say that this is the best French dip in Austin and it is big one. The artichoke dip is to die for, I don't event normally like that kind of dip and I could not stop eating. The steak was on point, when you hear what they use to marinate it you wonder if it would go well together, but trust me, it does. Last but not least, the apple crumble was very good, I would probably try another dessert next time but this was fun for our celebration.

My coworkers and I had dinner at Bartlett's, which is located in the West Anderson Plaza. The plaza is large and parking was not an issue. Nice spacious waiting area outside. The interior was classical steakhouse and the waitstaff was dressed in a white dress shirt and dark slacks. Dark mood lighting with mostly booth seats and a full bar. Two separate multi-user men and women restrooms. The service was outstanding! We were promptly welcomed and seated by the hostess. Claire E. was our server and took great care in serving us. She was pleasant, friendly, and very accommodating! She recommended some of the specials for the evening. She had a great personality. Again, outstanding and the others helping were were great (5/5). Steak Tartare: 5 oz of hand chopped raw ribeye and strip steak, tossed with red onions and capers, dressed with lemon, egg yolk, and herbs. Served with toast points, fresh arugula, and spicy sambal on the side (5/5). This was chef's kiss outstanding. Spinach and Artichoke Dip with Salsa and Tortilla Chips: Reggiano, artichoke hearts, tortilla chips (4/5). 12oz Prime Rib Au Jus: Rosemary salt crust, served au jus. We recommend Mashed Potatoes for your side (4/5). A great cut of prime rib. It was flavorful and delicious. Bartlett's Pear Martini: St. Germain, Grey Goose Poire vodka, Candied pear (5/5). Wow, this was very tasty and sweet. The Candied pear was fire! Come check them out! Support your local business.

If you know, you know. ;) Bartlett's has always been one of my favorite places to dine in Austin- the food is top notch and the service is perfect. I took myself to lunch the other day. I ordered "one" artichoke. Yum! I also went for the French Dip Sandwich. It's one of the best I've ever had! :) *I did the only responsible thing to do when I was up north...and that's go to lunch at Bartlett's. I got one artichoke and the Asian Noodle salad with steak! Yum!

Growing up in California going to Houston's, Hillstone and Gulf Stream - exact replica. Such a sense of home, Todd our server was fantastic and don't skip out on the candied pear martini, steak tartare or the ribs it will forever Be the best! Exactly like home with the dim lighting and open kitchen concept! Will be back

The inside is beautiful. Our servicer was awesome. I enjoyed my glass of wine. My dad love his Kansas City strip. My salad was good. The steak was cooked well, but it had a sweet glaze that I wasn't crazy about. Don't get me wrong I still finished it all! I would absolutely come again!

I've been here a few times over the years. My friends like to come here. It hasn't really been a place for me as a vegetarian, but that's changed! We came here for a birthday specifically for the 100 Hour Marinated ribeye for my friend. She had been talking about it for weeks. Unfortunately, the night we came to celebrate, it was not available. She was crushed. I jokingly said "we can go somewhere else". I'm guessing the server thought I was serious because later the chef came to our table and offered her a special treat. It was very nice of them. She ended up with the Redfish special and she liked it. But it was a huge disappointment anticipating this dinner for weeks. My dinner on the other hand exceeded expectations. I had not been here for many years. I don't recall the House-made veggie burger being on the menu previously. I tried it. It was excellent. Brown rice, mushrooms, beets, jack cheese, and other goodies. The avocado basil slather was perfection. It's not easy to find a really good veggie burger these days. So many places try to make them taste like meat. This was a true old school Veggie Burger - such a treat. Our server was attentive and was really great. Drinks were good. Margarita was very tasty.

We used to come here back in the 90's when it was Houston's and I was in college. Had so many great memories here and were delighted to know that the place was still here! We came to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary. Drove in from New Braunfels. We actually celebrated our engagement there in '97. Anyways, the place did not disappoint. Our server was Jordan who was most precious!! We started out with the Manhattan and an old fashioned. Split their traditional salad with buttermilk garlic dressing and their cheesy ciabatta. We shared their amazing 100 hour marinated ribeye cooked to medium rare perfection with mashed potatoes. Finished with the key lime pie. The restaurant is so warm and inviting. All the staff encountered were exceptional. We are visiting ATX in November and will be back!! Restrooms were beautiful and so clean too.

Bartlett's used to be Houston's, and from what I understand the franchisee bought the restaurant and renamed it after himself. Even now as it's been Bartlett's for many years, you can still feel some of that Houston's DNA in the atmosphere and menu. The vibe lands somewhere between upscale casual and classic steakhouse. It reminded me a bit of those old-school Steak and Ale-type places. It's a step above casual dining chains like Applebee's or TGI Fridays, but I wouldn't put it in the same category as Austin's highest-end spots like Uchi. It's more of a polished, comfortable place that still feels approachable. The dining room has a warm, almost wine-cellar feel, with exposed brick and fairly low lighting. When we visited on a weeknight it was packed, so I highty recommend making a reservation. The crowd seemed to be a mix of business dinners, client meetings, and people celebrating occasions. We were there for my mom's birthday, which felt like a perfect reason to go. It's the kind of place that works well for a special dinner, a date night, or entertaining clients. Everything we ordered was excellent. The Hickory Smoked Salmon appetizer was a great start, and the French Dip and the Chimichurri Steak Sandwich were worth getting again. They also brought out a dessert for my mom's birthday that everyone at the table enjoyed. Service was friendly and professional throughout the meal.

Barlett's continues to earn its spot on the "ATX's iconic" list for consistently providing first-class service and fare ... service is always impeccable, attentive but not overbearing. Water glasses stay full, advice about the menu on point, pace of the meal appropriate. A separate staff hustles food out of the kitchen, so it comes out piping hot (or cold as needed). Steaks and seafood ruled the table this visit, all cooked to perfection, astutely seasoned. Nice wine accompanied dinner, and dessert, key lime pie, was the perfect ending to a delightful meal. Highly recommend you stop by Bartlett's!

    Grilled artichokes

Bartlett's is one of those places that reminds you why it's a classic. From the moment you walk in, the staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, setting the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. The prime rib is the star for a reason--perfectly cooked, tender, and full of rich flavor. The smoked salmon is smooth and savory and makes a great start to the meal. The cocktails are well-crafted and balanced, perfect for sipping and unwinding. Do not miss the grilled artichokes--they're smoky, flavorful, and addictive. And the salads are impressively sized, fresh, and generous enough to share. With excellent food, thoughtful service, and a comfortable, upscale atmosphere, Bartlett's continues to be a go-to spot that never disappoints. Brilliant Dining

Best steak house on Burnet road by far! Service is always upscale and food is so delicious. Highly recommend for any occasion! Make sure to dress nice and would definitely recommend making a reservation before hand. Place can get a little loud but I've found 1:30pm is the perfect time to go if you plan on being chatty.

We live less than a mile from Barletts and have never been...and so glad we finally did! It's such a nice, fancy interior that you would never guess from the outside. Service is extremely prompt, helpful, and attentive. We had a reservation on a Saturday night and this would definitely be needed-it was packed! I felt a bit self conscious visiting vegan, but the waiter was very accommodating and assured me the veggie burger without cheese and bun replaced was vegan, along with the side of quinoa. It was a huge portion and really good! My husband got the regular burger and shoestring fries and enjoyed it as well. I ordered a mocktail (only one on menu) but didn't see the asterisk/notation that it is made with sweet and sour with raw egg maybe they add a second mocktail without raw egg for pregnant women?? We had a very nice time and I would absolutely recommend!

    Ask the Community - Bartlett's

    Is there a happy hour?

I'd give them a call. Great staff!

Is there a happy hour menu? Nothing is listed on their website or social media.

No, Bartlett's does not and has never had a happy hour menu for food or drinks.

What hours are considered lunch at Bartlett's?

I lunch menu runs to at least 3PM.

I called to order a salad ($16.00) and spinach dip ($12.00) and was told the total was $40.00 due to take out fees (I was picking up)That is a lot, especially during a pandemic and that is before tip! Not sure why there is such a fee?

I've never ordered carry out from Barlett's. That said, $12.00 "take out fee" is outrageous, especially since you're picking up! I would order from someplace else.

Do you have a dress code?

No I mean I've seen guys with shorts Usually not tank tops and gym apparel. Most of the customers are dressed fairly nice

    When is happy hour?

    4 -7 weekdays $2 off wine/beer

I'm writing this while we're still here because the service has been that amazing. Now onto the food... My wife ordered the sausage, and she's absolutely obsessed with it. It's technically on the starters menu, but she always gets it as her main course because it's just that good. My son and I both ordered the 20-ounce Koji Coffee-Crusted Cowboy Ribeye, cooked medium-rare. When I say it melts in your mouth, I mean it. The coffee crust adds the perfect amount of texture and crunch without overpowering the steak. I highly recommend it. For sides, we shared the mac and cheese and the corn crème brûlée, and both paired perfectly with our steaks. We also started with the pork chop bites, which continue to be an absolute home run. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the applesauce takes the flavor to another level. The only minor critique I have is that the bread wasn't quite as soft and warm as it usually is. But honestly, that's such a small detail in what was otherwise an outstanding meal. To finish, we had the Vanilla Orange Cheesecake and the Lemon Bar. The Lemon Bar was delicious, although I wish the center hadn't been quite so cold. The toasted marshmallow on top, however, was absolutely perfect. The Orange Cheesecake? Incredible. Total Dreamsicle vibes, and I would order it again in a heartbeat. What really made this evening unforgettable, though, was Alex. He has officially set the standard for what exceptional service looks like. Every server I have from here on out has some big shoes to fill. Perry's, if I can't have Alex next time, I hope the service is held to the same incredibly high standard because he truly made this experience special. Overall, Perry's came out swinging tonight. I can't honestly call it a perfect 10 because of a couple of tiny details, but it was absolutely a perfect 5-star experience. Thank you for an unforgettable evening and for making my son's birthday one to remember!

The complimentary bread and butter were also mouthwatering--I honestly wanted another roll. For drinks, we asked for something refreshing, and Delina delivered. My husband had a cocktail that reminded him of an Aperol Spritz with a mojito twist, while the watermelon hibiscus margarita was absolutely perfect for the weather. We shared a Caesar salad and ordered the Dean's Style steak with the sauce on the side. This was the one dish that left me a little disappointed. The steak wasn't as juicy as I expected when cutting into the center, but thankfully, having the sauce on the side helped elevate the flavor. I highly recommend the truffle béarnaise sauce--it was delicious. The atmosphere and service were excellent, and Delina truly made our evening enjoyable. While I think we've had better steaks at a lower price point, the ambiance and overall experience still made for a memorable birthday dinner.

BEST BITES: - Pastrami sandwich (one of the BEST pastrami sandwiches I've ever had... packed with meat, bread is toasted well, and the fries are super crispy) - Biscuits (crispy outside, soft inside, and lots of layers... the molasses chili butter is sweet and melts into the biscuits) THE VERDICT: I had visited Salty Sow 4 years ago but hadn't been back just because there are SO many great places to eat in Austin. After coming back, I think Salty Sow is incredibly underrated and slept on... I already can't wait to visit again and will definitely recommend it to others!

My wife got the filet and it was very good. The mushrooms were a highlight. We shared the strawberry shortcake. Adam was the sommelier. I went with friends for a birthday, and they brought out a huge complimentary slice of cake for my friend, which was such a nice touch. For my drink, I had the Golden Pop Martini, which came with caramel popcorn. It was definitely on the sweeter side, so if you love caramel, you'll probably love this one. For food, we tried a little bit of everything, including the crab cake, grilled lollipop lamb chops, prime tacos, truffle mac and cheese, crab fried rice, seafood pasta, and the loaded JP creamy potato. We also got fried Oreos. Everything tasted really good, and there wasn't anything we ordered that I wouldn't recommend. Service was great throughout the evening, and the overall atmosphere made the experience even better. I'll definitely be back again!

Red Snapper Crudo ($21): It was alright but not worth it. I wasn't sure all the ingredients worked together. Bone Marrow With Mushroom Risotto ($42): A huge entree that's enough for two people. Came with two large bone marrow and a delicious but very heavy mushroom risotto. I'm used to mushroom risotto in a white creamy base but this one was red, buttery, and cheesy. It was incredible but I wouldn't recommend it if you're on a date or watching what you eat. I was very bloated and felt heavy afterwards so save it for your cheat meal days. It was too much to finish in one sitting anyway so I got to enjoy it again for lunch the next day. Wood Grilled Octopus ($19): My friend ordered this and I tried a piece. The octopus was a bit overcooked. 10 Oz Beef Filet With Fresh Blue Crab Fonduta ($72): My husband and friend both loved the blue crab fonduta which had a strong blue crab flavor. The beef filet was nicely cooked but lacked flavor and the slice was cut a bit too thick for my taste. I'm assuming they keep it on the blander side so it doesn't compete with the fonduta but I would have liked a little more salt.

There's usually something on the menu for everyone, which makes it such an easy choice for almost any occasion. Their happy hour is one of my favourites in Austin. The mini martinis are served on a martini tree, which makes the experience especially fun, and they also make an excellent dirty martini--perfectly ice cold and well balanced. The beef tartare is another standout and easily one of the best in town. It's always topped with an impressively large egg yolk, which I love. Murray's is an easy recommendation for anyone in East Austin looking for a relaxed, lively atmosphere and a satisfying meal.
