Heard this place has the best prices for sushi so we came to check it out. Strongly recommend ordering online. We came in person and ordered. The food came out in 15-20 minutes as it was super busy inside around 5-5:30pm (we didn't realize online ordering was an option). We ordered the Hawaiian roll (salmon and hamachi topped with tuna, avocado, and fish roll) and the Sunset Blvd roll (tuna, salmon, hamachi, and imitation crab, topped with avocado and fish roe). We thought it was very neat there were so many different types of fish inside/on each roll. The fish to rice ratio was nice too. In the box for the rolls, they provided some wasabi and ginger (so don't need to pay unless you want more). We also ordered the salmon poke, which had a little spice to it. I believe our total cost was about $35. For awareness: if you want sashimi cut, it'll be an extra 10% charge. We took public transportation here, so can't comment on parking.
I was craving poke and after some disappointment the night before I went looking for recommended. That's how I landed here. Did not disappoint! Food was all delicious. We got the garlic shrimp plate, a few sushi rolls, fish and chips, clam chowder and the poke combo. All of it was great though I would probably skip the shrimp next time. The sushi and poke were very fresh tasting and great cuts! Fish and chips were also great, cooked perfect and again, tasted fresh! Definitely will be back here again.
Looks a mess because it was moving around in the bag but it was really good! It's priced fairly and the service was super fast. Found this hole in the wall gem years back and finally came back again because I was in the area. Parking is really hard to find so good luck!
My husband & i love this spot. The poke is so fresh and flavorful. The area is not the best and finding parking sucks. This place sells out pretty fast so just be aware of that if you go later in the day!
Thanks for the recommendations, @Dominic. Came here to grab some seafood for lunch. There was a short line. I ordered basa seafood combo with fried fish, shrimp and. Oyster with fries. I also got a spicy salmos poke and shoyu tuna poke. The fried fish was a bit dry but crispy. The pokes were delicious and I didn't get the combo because I had rice and seaweed at home. They give you a number beeper which rings when your order is ready. There are not seating at this place. It is all to go or take out orders. Parking can be difficult but I circled once and found a spot in front of the place on a Friday afternoon.
Visiting here in SF and this place is well known popular. I came here Tuesday right during opening and there was no line at all. This place is a take out only. I ordered the spicy salmon poke and fish ceviche, both were absolutely delicious. Well priced and some of the freshest and tastiest seafood. I would definitely be coming back to try all the other food on the menu!
Fresh delicious affordable seafood. Fried shrimps, oysters, & fish over fries. The Basa special roll has imitation crab inside with scallops and is topped with salmon, for only $10.50! They're known for their fresh tuna and salmon poke. Service was quick and ambiance is a local take-out only spot.
Came by on a Friday night for dinner after seeing this place show up on my feed and I have to say that it did not disappoint. I wish we had the chance to come earlier in the day during lunch because they probably would have still had the ceviche, but they ran out by the time we arrived. We ordered the fried calamari special, shoyu salmon poke, shoyu tuna poke. We waited around 15 minutes for our order, which I assume was mainly due to the fried calamari. Fried Calamari - 5/5 - the texture was great and the tartar sauce was great Shoyu salmon poke - 5/5 Shoyu tuna poke - 5/5 Small steamed rice - lol nothing else to say about this but it was necessary for the poke-for me at least. ~~Service: Great. The cashier lady was super patient with us and didn't greet us until we went up to the payment counter. I prefer this because it feels like there's less pressure to decide what you want to get. ~~Best Part: Stress free ordering. ~~Worst Part: There's no place to eat within the restaurant so we took our food and walked over to a nearby park but there wasn't really any seating not in the direct sunlight so we ate on a patch of grass, but it was still enjoyable. I probably should have done the research before hand to know to bring a picnic blanket or something ~~Return: Yes.
Always consistent, delicious an fresh. I've been coming to this spot for a couple years now and I have been sure to pass it on to all my friends because of how reasonably priced it is. The shoyu salmon poke with some rice is a perfect lunch. The spicy salmon is a great contender. The service is quick and you can order ahead for pickup. No in-dining options but there is a park nearby to enjoy!
Food The salmon and tuna were incredibly fresh, and the sauce they were mixed with was perfectly balanced and tasted amazing. I usually prefer tuna over salmon, but the sauce was so good that I couldn't stop eating both. The poke comes in a container without rice by default, but they offer an option to add rice, which also includes seaweed salad. Overall, the food was super fresh and delicious! I'd definitely want to visit again and try more of what they offer. Service The service was quick and very friendly. Ambiance This is a fish-market-style spot with no seating available, making it strictly a takeout place.
I've been going to Basa Seafood for years while living in the Mission District, and it's always been one of my go to spots. My favorites are their salmon sashimi, which they slice fresh for you at the counter, and their spicy salmon poke, which never disappoints. I usually pick up in person, but lately I've been ordering delivery. This time I ordered the Sunset BLVD Roll, which had tuna, hamachi, and salmon inside, topped with avocado, roe, and a mix of sauces. I also got two California rolls (6PC) at $7 each, plus two spicy salmon poke rolls. I made rice at home, though in hindsight it probably would have been easier to just order their $2 rice and save myself the extra effort. I placed the order during lunch hour, so delivery did take quite a while, a little over an hour. That said, the quality was still great and everything tasted fresh and satisfying. Basa Seafood remains a really solid spot, and I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area.
Super quick service and cheap prices!! For 13 dollars with tax got a poke combo. The lady at the front is super nice and there seem to be loads to choose from. I waited about 5 minutes and they got it to me quick. It seems like they have a bunch of these premade bowls/fish plates ready to serve. Cheap and good for SF. The ambiance was clean and not much of a sit down place. The poke combo came with a water, seaweed salad, rice and a bunch of salmon. You can choose either spicy or shoyu sauce (I got shoyu). It tasted very fresh and I really enjoyed it however I would recommend buying something else because it didn't quite fill me up. However overall really good.
LOVE & OBSESSED WITH THIS PLACE!! I get basa seafood all the time because it's so affordable and such great quality!! Everytime i come, I always get a poke (usually the spicy salmon poke or shoyu salmon) and a roll (spicy tuna or salmon roll). I always recommend this place to friends and it's perfect to eat by mission dolores park on a picnic when the weather is good!

I saw a recommendation for this place advertising its affordable costs for good quality fish so as someone who wants a lot of quality food for cheap, we had to check this out. We decided to go in the middle of the afternoon an hour or so before closing so it wasn't very busy. This small little place is in the culturally diverse Mission district, which is worth a visit in and of itself. Once we went inside we ordered the Spicy Salmon Poke, Shoyu Salmon Poke, a side order of rice, and garlic fries (just because I was craving some). The food came out super fast despite having to wait for our fries. The poke were both flavorful but we prefer the Spicy one over the Shoyu, which was a little simple but still nice. We only got one rice because we wanted a bigger fish to rice ratio. However, we do regret this because the serving of fish was way smaller than we thought and the one side of rice and 2 servings of poke did not fill us up. It was still inexpensive quality, but we felt like this was only the case because the servings were small, which was disappointing. I've attached a photo with my hand so you can see to scale. The garlic fries had a lot of garlic, but not much seasoning so they were a bit bland. This is a convenient place to get a quick bite, but don't expect a feast unless you're ordering a lot. read more

Great price for the portion! The food was ready quickly and everyone was really friendly. We asked for some recommendations and they gave multiple options. We ordered the Spicy Salmon Poke with a side of rice, Fish and Chips, and Basa Special Roll. Everything was delicious. The Fish and Chips were seasoned well. Normally, I expect Fish and Chips to be oily and heavy. To my surprise, the Fish and Chips were not overly oily and heavy. Great tartar sauce as well. The poke was also really delicious. I was surprised about how fresh it was for the cheap price. The salmon in the sushi was also very fresh. I'll definitely be back and can't wait to try more items on the menu. read more

Delicious sushi at amazing prices! The spicy salmon poke ($7.50) was creamy and spicy, with fatty cubes of salmon. Rice needs to be ordered separately. The hamachi roll ($5) had a great fish to rice ratio and tasted fresh. My friend enjoyed her salmon sashimi, which I want to try next time. Service is quick, and the store is no frills. Great prices for take-out sushi! Located in the Mission, this is a very affordable sushi spot with a variety of options including sashimi, poke, rolls, and burgers. My friend and I ordered online and it was ready for pickup in 20 minutes. We got Spicy Salmon Poke (5/5 - small pieces for sure but for $7.50 it was very worth and taste was great), Double Hamachi Roll & Hawaiian Roll (3/5 - fish was very mid like it just didn't taste like anything but portions were nice), and Basa Special Roll (4/5 salmon was yummy and fresh). The quality is definitely what you pay for and I'd come back for the poke. read more

Read reviews saying its overhyped but after a round of golf and not eating anything for the whole day this hit the spot. The spicy salmon poke was soo good. Hard to describe the taste but its good quality fish with a really smooth spicy marinade (not too spicy) that has onions that go really well with the flavor. I ordered it w/ a large rice and the total was about 11 dollars which is a complete steal compared to the poke we get in the south bay. Rivals Santo Market for sure. Parking was a bit tough and I didnt want to pay so I ended up saving it till I reached Palo Alto. Tasted better around room temp than when it was fresh at the market! Brought out the flavor of the marinade a lot more. Orders come out pretty fast which is nice. Very quick stop. read more

Bit mixed about this spot! It definitely is your no frills place to pick up some cheap sashimi and poke but some of the quality is better than others. The spicy salmon lived up to the hype, with lots of meaty chunks and really good sauce. The salmon by itself was good but the tuna one tasted kind of suspect and not the freshest. read more

Highly recommend- I understand what the hype is about. Seafood is fresh, space is clean, prices are quite reasonable and service is friendly. What more can one ask for? Parking can sometimes be a little hard to find and I wish they had dine in, as the spot is take out only. But beyond those two minor gripes I his spot is worth the detour. We ordered the spicy salmon and the fish burger with fries both were great. Excited to come back and try something else. read more
Breakfast for champions ;) Visited on Tuesday right when they opened and not eating breakfast prior to save space for my favorite poke. Every time I come here, I order at least 3 spicy salmon poke boxes.. that's how good it is. Lost count how many times I've been here. My other go to is their garlic fries. Just when you thought garlic couldn't get any garlicy-er than the garlics in Gilroy (hope this makes sense) ... just give this bad boi a try. Finally got to try this place out and can't believe how much I've been missing out! I live across the bridge so not something I can just order often. Both the salmon and tuna poke were fresh and packed with flavor. The marinade isn't overwhelming and you still get that distinct seafood taste. The poke portions look bigger to me in the photos so if you're sharing you can order maybe a little bit more protein but even two boxes are enough but if you have an appetite you can order more. Service is fast and quick. Unfortunately, no indoor or outdoor seating available so you can either decide to eat this at home or even better a park near by on a good day! read more

We were looking for sushi on a Monday afternoon, and a lot of places were closed. But luckily we stumbled upon this spot tucked away in the Mission district. It's a very humble storefront, and there's no seating, just a few benches while you wait. The sushi is so fresh here, and they have a huge variety of classic and creative rolls. Their rolls are fresh made, and packaged nicely. We took our meal down to the wharf and enjoyed it on the waterfront. read more

Absolutely delicious and accommodating of our 25 unit order along with a party tray a few days before we hosted an event. My friends loved the fresh poke!!! And many of them consider themselves sushi snobs too. A poke with a small rice is $9. Pretty good deal! It was a light, yummy lunch! The teriyaki beef and chicken platter was beautifully presented in the party tray and went empty in a matter of minutes for our group lol. We should order two next time. 1 $70 party tray was enough for each person to grab maybe 3 pieces. We paid over the phone and were able to pick it up seamlessly the day of and on time! read more

Came up to the city to give this place a try. I've seen lots of videos that recommend it for its good price and good quality fish. I got the shoyu salmon which was pretty good. The fish was nice and soft, and it was a relatively good price. I do have other places I prefer but this is a good pick up for when you're in this city and need to grab and go. The rolls were pretty good too. The california rolls were simple but good and cheap. There was one man working the counter, and he helped us out quickly. We were in there for 5 minutes or less as we ordered mainly premade items. Inside, you can see the fish, rolls, and poke behind the counter. You can also buy whole slabs of sashimi. It's small and there's no seating, but it's more of a grab and go anyways. read more

I've only gotten Basa via UberEats/Grubhub, but it has always been a hit! This time around, I got the spicy salmon poke & shoyu salmon poke. I paid $7.50 for each container of poke. It is such great value for the amount of fish you get. I personally like the spicy salmon better as it comes with red and black roe, black sesame, green onions, all covered in this rich creamy sauce. Delicious. Shoyu salmon is also good -- tastes like soy sauce with a little spicy kick. My tip is to just buy the poke and make your own rice at home, so you don't have to buy a side of rice! Will have to try Basa out in person some time. read more

I highly reccomend going to Basa Seafood Express. Prices are S T E L L A R. With this crazy inflation, its so nice to see an affordable and budget place with fresh poke and salmon with rice. Its very bare bones and legitimate. Rice, Fish of choice, chopped (salmon/tuna), and sauce. Do pick the combo for some seaweed salad and a drink of choice. LOVE. would totally come back, and often, if I lived nearby. read more
I can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for affordable, quality sushi. They sell a variety of rolls and poke for very affordable prices. I got two rolls for $12, 1 spicy poke for $7.5 and steamed rice for $2. The fish was super fresh and they had great filling to rice ratio which I always look for. You can also buy sashimi grade cuts if you'd like to make your own at home. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that there isn't any seating so you'll have to take your order to go. It seems more of an in and out kind of place - not a sit down restaurant. The service is quite fast and they seem to make a lot of the rolls fresh! read more

I had this place booked marked for ages and had decided to try it out. They were really buying when I came by. They have a nice menu and a very simple way to navigate thru. I noticed a lot of poke pictured, and d decided to order that and the lion king roll. They also have burgers. Fish and chips. Ceviche, sushi rolls and special rolls, and sashimi. When you enter, it looks like those asian markets in Chinatown the the windows where you can see all the pre made items like the ceviche, poke, and tempura chips. They have the seating in the back blocked off. It nice to know they make all the sushi to order. But keep in mind the California rolls are pre made. I did notice a lot of people order the burgers, fish, and chips. I am assuming everything is really fresh. The spicy salmon poke was amazing and flavorful. The lion king roll was also delicious. Full of crab mea and the salmon on top was really fresh and smooth. Not fishy taste and had a good portion of rice, carb meat and salmon on top. They give a good amount of ginger and Wasabi. They definitely topped the roll with a good amount of roe. Which is amazing. I will definitely have to come back yo try the fish and chips and burgers. read more

The poke from Basa has been all over my feed for cheap SF eats, and it's definitely worth a try! Each order of salmon poke was around $7.50, which is pretty cheap. The salmon quality is amazing and melts in your mouth! I'm sure the sashimi/sushi with salmon would taste just as good as the poke. However, the plate of poke isn't deep so I wouldn't say you're getting all that much, and it's not filling on its own unless you buy another portion or buy some rice (I made some rice at home to save money). SHOYU SALMON POKE: 4.5/5 The shoyu salmon appeared more bland than the spicy salmon, but I enjoyed it a lot more. The shoyu sauce almost had some spice or chili oil infused, and it was so delicious! I couldn't get enough of it. SPICY SALMON POKE: 4.25/5 I really liked the spicy salmon poke! I'm not the hugest fan of masago, so I'm glad they didn't put too much in the plate. This was a little creamier for my liking and not all that spicy, but it was definitely savory and tasty. I balanced this out by eating some of the shoyu salmon poke. read more

No. Not until dinning is allowed.
When are they open to deliver on Ubereats/doordash? It says they're closed on the apps when they're actually open
I've ordered twice from UberEats, only to have the order cancelled at the end of the window it was supposed to be delivered. Not sure if it's a Basa or an UberEats issue.
