Although the coffee quality is very good, the preparation needs a little more care. The temperature of the latte and pour over coffee was warm and detracted from its full potential. Nevertheless I would definitely return to Basecamp when I'm lost for other options. I see a strong local following so be confident that you will be fine trying this cool little place. Basecamp is a favorite of locals and tourists alike. My parents always ask to visit here when they're in town. It's delicious, comfy, and the staff is very kind. My favorite dish is and always will be the Breakfast Burrito. It isn't huge but it's executed well and I leave with a full belly. We're also big fans of the Biscuit with Jam, Avocado Toast, and the Croissant Breakfast Sandwich. Our oat milk lattes are made perfectly by the baristas, too. All around a wonderful place. read more

The low rating is primarily a matter of really crappy customer service. We went for a late brunch on a Sunday, super excited to have found a new place with character. When we parked, we noticed what looked like two separate restaurants with the same name- One that looked like a garden and one that looked like a diner. We weren't sure which to enter or if we could sit at either. So we entered the diner space, and approached what looked like the coffee counter. We didn't see any menus for food so we thought maybe we should be at the other seating area. I told the girl behind the counter that it was our first time and asked if we could order food there, and she said yes but that we needed to not be standing at the coffee counter, we needed to stand by the door. I was confused, she seemed annoyed. So we stood by the door and then approached the register. There was a different staff member there, she asked what we wanted to order. We said we hadn't seen a menu posted anywhere. She too seemed annoyed, and directed us to the door where menus were stored. We returned to the counter and ordered food, a black coffee, and a fancy latte drink. She quickly poured the black coffee and gave it to me, then handed me a number and called the next person up. I told her it was our first time there and just confirmed that we could sit anywhere and the food would be brought to us, and she said yes. We waited 20 minutes for our food, which was cold when it arrived. I noticed the latte drink wasn't there, so I went in to ask, and I saw a latte on the coffee counter. I told a man behind the counter that our food was brought out but not the latte, and I wondered if that was it. He sighed, looked at the name on the receipt, and confirmed it was me. I apologized and noted that we had never been there before and we weren't told to wait at the counter for the latte (in fact we were told to move away from that counter). Visibly annoyed, he walked away to the latte machine. I grabbed the latte but realized it had been sitting there for 20 minutes and was cold. I turned to inquire about it and before I could even say anything he, seemingly irritated, said "I'm making you another one." I appreciated that, but there was no need to be rude. He also could have told me that instead of just walking over to the machine to make it. Seriously y'all, what sense of customer service to you have at this place? The only person who was friendly at all was the guy who brought the food out to us. Everyone else seemed to visibly hate their job, or hate all the customers, or just hate life. The food was great and the atmosphere lovely, but we won't be back simply because of the staff. We both work in customer service positions so we know how hard it can be. Longtime customer trying to come back and support the business post-pandemic, and was not pleased with the reception I got from your employee today. I arrived 40 minutes before stated closing hours (also seeing people still sitting outside) and was blocked from even entering and told they were closed. I politely tried to explain to her the hours on Yelp were different, and she had a weird major attitude with me and wouldn't even listen or look at me. Perhaps she was having a bad day, but it was pretty off-putting. It peeves me as a fellow business owner. I ordered the protein scramble and I had absolutely no sweet potatoes, no squash, and barely any almonds. What's up with that?! Very rarely do I walk into a place and immediately fall in love...and stay in love throughout the entire time I'm there, and leave feeling like I've lost a piece of me because I'm rarely in Burbank. I have to start by saying the minute I walked in I was greeted by the warmest welcome ever, lather on found out the gentleman was the owner of the place, name John. Not only he was extremely pleasant but as I told him I was the new owner of what use to be the Silver Spur stables he welcomed me to the neighborhood and offered his help if I ever needed anything. Solid cute cafe in Burbank. Haven't been to this area since high school when I used to ice skate here. There's a small parking lot. The inside is not not planned out well because there's literally no place for a line to form without standing above other customers' tables. How awkward. On top of that, the ordering takes a while. My friend and I decided to check out this place for brunch around noon on a Saturday and while there were a lot of people there, there was a good amount of seating available. I ordered the avocado toast with coffee and my friend ordered a breakfast sandwich on a biscuit. The patio had a cute, colorful decor with colored liights which kept our little guy occupied. The coffee was hot and delicious. It had a unique taste. I was surprised at the size of our meals. I've had avocado toast at many places and this one out did them all in terms of portion size. It looked like one huge piece of sourdough piled high with the mashed avocado, fried egg to order, tomato , sprouts and arugula. Once I started digging in I discovered a 2nd piece of toast covered with avocado as well. I couldn't touch the 2nd slice as the first was so filling. I thought the price was high, but I got two meals out of it, so it's very reasonable. My friend couldn't finish hers either. The only disappointment was that no one came around to check if I needed more coffee, even though the hostess told us I could get a free refill. I'd come here again and I know my friend does. Well. We were excited to try this place because they have a pretty solid gluten-free menu. Aaaaand we were disappointed. Atmosphere gets 5 stars. Very cute outdoor seating. The coffee was fine but they didn't fill up the cup and they charge $1 for a refill ($2.50 for the initial cup). They also have drink items (kombucha) on the menu that they don't actually have yet. They are new so I can understand that but I was interested in getting some. Generally the prices for certain things seems high. It definitely has a hipster vibe so prices are expected to be more. (Almost $8 for a cold brew is steep) I had the gluten-free waffle with bananas and pecans ($8.50 waffle +$1 for extras). I cannot express how excited I was to have this as I haven't had a waffle in a long time. I cannot express how disappointed I was but I will try. It smelled like bread mix and tasted like nothing. Good effort, I guess, but really needs improvement. Also it's small especially for $8.50. My partner had the breakfast burrito with chorizo ($8.75 +$1 avocado). The egg-chorizo inside was tasty. It was good but an option to add potatoes to make it hardier would have been nice. Felt like it was overpriced. I had told the cashier to make my waffle gluten-free but she didn't (as the time went on it seemed like they were training her so I can understand the mishaps). They were really nice about fixing the mistake. My last gripe- they use a lot of single use plastic. They have dishes and real silverware so why not use small reusable cups for the butter and syrup? I try not to create unnecessary waste but it's hard to do that when a place takes environmental short cuts like that. Also, our coffee came in to-go cups which proved unnecessary as we ended up finishing it during our meal. In summation, nice staff, overpriced food, don't order the gluten free options for pancake/waffle- stick to the other things like eggs and Benedicts. I get SO excited for new places opening in Burbank and then quickly disappointed when the decor is lame and the food is nothing special. Now it's a little confusing because there is High Horse Dinette and Basecamp. Basecamp is technically a coffee shop and set up as such. Mostly bar seating with very chill music, ideal for working or taking meetings. Their kitchen is in High Horse Dinette. So you can order at Basecamp and they bring it over. All the things I want to say would make this review obnoxiously long so: Ample Parking. Healthy food options (AND SO TASTY). Coffee was good, but a tad weak. They could up their game here. Atmosphere is awesome. Staff is friendly (THANK YOU). Their bar stools are too high for their bar though. Right near the horse stable just before you get to Mariposa Street there is the HighHorse Dinette and Basecamp. Drove by last week and was intrigued on the look alone. I stumbled into Basecamp on a Sunday and was pleasantly surprised with the relaxed ambience and quality of food. Felt like I was at a friends house for brunch. Sat in a very comfortable chair with calming music and art surrounding me and it all had he wanting to come back. To drink I has a flavorful cold brew with a veggie omelette. Mozzarella cheese, avocado and mushrooms in the omelette with hash browns that were made from scratch and very thinly sliced. I went with a spinach tortilla for my bread option which were also made from scratch. Staff was very friendly and for only being open a month they seem to be off to a great start. My only small complaint is the beeping sound of the door every time someone enters or exits. Outside of that it is a total win for an awesome new spot in Burbank. The people behind the counter were welcoming and helpful with our questions (be sure to ask about Christopher Walken - you'll see it when you're there) and our food was served quickly. We both had typical breakfast choices - eggs, fruit, toast - nothing unusual. It's immediately apparent that the food is fresh and made with care, not just slopped onto a greasy grill then tossed onto a plate. My only beef (just one) is that the croissant was sinfully undercooked!! The top and bottom few layers were flakey, but the centre of the bread was densely packed and far too doughy. While it did not take away from the flavours of the sandwich contents, a croissant should be flakey! Otherwise, it's just a "crescent roll"! Definitely would go again!
