What a precious little hidden gem! This place is little hole in the wall that delivers big flavors. We wnt in around 1pm on a Friday to have Lily's famous clam chowder and wowww I see why my friend was raving about it. It was so fresh and so comforting to eat this soup and mind you the bowl was a very generous portion. We ordered the half soup half sandwhich combo and I got the grilled veggie sandwhich with clam chowder and my friend got the tuna sandwhich with clam chowder. When I got mt sandwhich I thought maybe it'll be a little dry. I have never misjudged a dish so much in my life. I thought the clam chowder was the star of the show, and it partially was, but this grilled veggie sandwhich stole the show, just WOW! Go try it yourself and tell me what an explosion of flavor and juices exist in this humble looking sandwhich that packs a huge flavor punch. My friend also got the Lily's house tea and I noticed most everyone else did too so I'll have to come back and try it as they gave rave reviews about it. I think we got lucky with the last portions of the soup, so come earlier to ensure you secure your bowl of chowder. The place is tiny, I couldn't take a photo because it was sooo packed and I didnt want to take photos of othe people. I mention this as you may not be able to find a spot to sit though service is pretty quick and courteous, it almost like going to your relatives house for a quick lunch type of vibe. My favorite weekday lunch spot! Food is simple and fresh. I love the roasted turkey on ciabatta (toasted), pasta salad, vegetarian sandwich, and sweet iced tea. My fav dessert is the carrot cake, and my dad loves her pecan bar. Lily herself is always behind the counter and becomes quickly acquainted with her regulars. Many people I personally know, love this place and recommends their beet salad, and turkey sandwich. However, I'm not a big soup, salad, sandwich person, but thought heck, why not. Let's give it a try. I opted to order the pastrami on ciabatta bread. It was good, however, the ratio of pastrami to bread was lacking. A lot of bread and not a lot of pastrami. This was my first time trying Lily's Cafe. The owner, Lily, and her helper were both very friendly and welcoming. The inside is small with around four tables, very clean, and has cute decor. After looking over the menu, I decided to order their turkey chili and a PB&J with banana sandwich. The turkey chili was good and came with fresh bread. The PB&J was packed nicely and actually pretty filling. The only surprise was seeing my sandwich made with JIF peanut butter. I was kinda expecting Justin's or something, lol. What a total let-down. Yelp sent an email suggesting soup places near me. I guess I won't be reading those type of emails anymore. And, I cannot understand why the reviews here are so strong. It's a cute LITTLE place and the woman at the register was quite nice and was very nicely handling a ton of orders both on phone and in-person. They have a lot of choices on the menu with soups, salads and sandwiches. We ordered 2 sandwiches, 2 soups and two drinks and it came in a a whopping $52 before a tip! I wouldn't have felt so fleeced if the food wasn't so mediocre to bad. My wife got a ham sandwich that was fine. Pretty basic and not extremely appealing to look at but it was okay. She also got a turkey meatball soup that was fine. I got a pastrami sandwich and hated myself for ordering it from anywhere other than a good deli. There wasn't much to it and it was pretty basic. Then there was the chicken noodle soup that I ordered. It was more of a salt soup with other ingredients. It was impossible to eat and after three spoonsful, I had to stop. The woman at the counter offered something else, but why would I trust any other soup was better after the two we got? No refund offered, which was tacky. I'd never go back and cannot recommend it at all. What a cute little gem this place is! I stopped by here for the first time because I was craving soup and Lily's showed up on my radar. I ordered two 1/2 sandwich combos that came with a bowl of soup. For the sandwiches I got the smoked turkey, and for soups I got the split pea and turkey meatball. I also ordered an unsweetened iced tea. Everything tasted very fresh and homemade! I love that they use organic ingredients as well. I wouldn't expect amazing flavor or anything unique because the food they make here is healthy and not loaded with fats like the soups/sandwiches at other places. Stumbled upon this little cafe craving coffee and a sweet treat. Turns out the sweet treat was meeting the amazing Lily. She treated all of her guests with such care and it made me want to be her friend. We ordered an iced americano, a turkey sandwich, and a chewy pie. When I bit into my Turkey sandwich, I was surprised with so many flavors. And fresh basil was a great touch. Served on hot and fresh ciabatta bread. Sensational. The chewy pie was so delicious. A true hidden gem in Burbank. I recently visited Lilys Cafe and I have been hooked. I am here several times a week now. Whether it's for one of their home made soups or delicious sandwiches, Lily always has something super fresh and delicious. What a sweet, little cafe! We stopped at the Tesla charger and decided to take a walk to get a bite for breakfast. We had a yummy bowl of steel cut oatmeal with raisins, nuts, cinnamon along with a yummy plate of fresh fruit. Looking at the menu they have a good assortment of soups and sandwiches. Our office ordered here for lunch as it is a rainy day and we were craving soups. We ordered it for pick up and the portions are big. We each got the 1/2 sandwich 1/2 soup combos and none of us could finish the whole entrees. The pastrami sandwich was delicious and I did not dislike my turkey sandwich on ciabatta but it was also nothing special. The soups were mediocre according to my coworkers.
