When we first walked it it took awhile for someone to notice us and seat us. However, the staff was friendly and professional. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place itself is welcome and nice to sit and enjoy with who ever you are there with.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It doesn't have its own parking lot atleast from what I noticed. There was parking right next to the building that was $6. We pretty much all ordered the same thing. They give you a menu and a dry erase marker and you can build your burger or salad. We ordered a double smash burger with American cheese and tots. It was good, however I do like mine cooked medium and it was more like on the well cooked side. I definitely recommend eating here if you're ever in Detroit.

We took 2 seats at the bar before a Tigers game this past weekend. Amanda took care of us and she was great! Very helpful and attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant seemed clean and the bathrooms were as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the BYO Wagyu Burger with sunny egg, crumbled blue cheese, blue cheese dressing, red onion, spring mix, pickled jalapeño, side of Frank's. I was disappointed they didn't have fresh jalapeño, but that's a personal preference. Burger came with iceberg lettuce, not spring mix. Not a big deal. It was good and cooked to order (medium rare). My Husband ordered the BYO Double Smash Burger and fries. He added pepper-jack cheese, chili, and queso to his burger. It looked really good and he said he enjoyed it. He ordered his medium and that's how it was served. The fries were great! We also tried their "Faygo Bomb". Fun and delicious! We've never been let down here. Thank you!!!

Looking for some bites and beer upon arriving in Detroit, we found this place a block from our hotel. How convenient! We were seated at the bar and had fantastic service by Aubrey. We weren't expecting much from bar food but were pleasantly surprised with the Chicken Caesar Salad. It was huge and fresh and tasty. The beer battered fries were also delicious and cheap ($4). Ordered two build your own burgers; one large order of fries; Mountain Dew; mango lemonade to drink. One order came out as ordered; the second burger came to table with an additional topping not requested. Burger was sent back only to return with another additional topping not requested. This was the downside of the service. The burger all in all was pretty good. The Mac and cheese bites contain absolutely no Mac; just liquid cheese. The order process in regard to receiving what was actually ordered, which was where the service faulted. Also, be aware of the 9% gratuity automatically included. Which was another downside to this location. The server was not very attentive after placing the order. She disappeared for approximately 15 to 20 minutes. After receiving the order, she would then again disappear for approximately 15 to 20 minutes. If the service is not up to par, you should not automatically be responsible for paying a 9% gratuity. The amount of tip at that point should be strictly up to the customer; based on the service they received. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience was that of a bustling restaurant; maybe at a medium Noise level.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The aforementioned is the reason for two stars. This location was not deserving of anything more. Not because of the taste of the food. But, the lack of Attentiveness to service. No goodwill gesture in response to the multiple mistakes with the unrequested toppings on the hamburger. I am a stickler for good service and this location did not provide that.

Wow . This is a place for burgers I made my own. Simple two patties mustard cheese I ate the entire thing.. I don't know how they get their burgers so tender but they were just delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a bright and fun atmosphere for the whole family[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Love coming here. They even have my favorite drink right now the Long Drink. Place was super busy when we showed up said it would be a 50 minute wait, was seated about 25 minutes after so not too bad. Food was absolutely delicious. Tator tots were amazing . We were greeted at sat promptly. Our server came over a few minutes after we were seated. She told us about the standard menu and then about the custom Burger menu. We both opted for the custom burgers and split a full side of the Sweet Potato Fries. The dip served with the fries was a cinnamon butter sauce - it was soooo good! The burgers were cooked perfectly - the brioche buns were nicely toasted - so much flavor with these burgers. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was pretty loud inside. This was to be expected as it's the Saturday before St. Patrick's Day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The lighting was nice in the dining area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restrooms were clean, but they were out of soap.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They do add a service charge to the bill, no matter the party size.

Great service from Katelyn and really good food. I had the Waygu burger with sweet potato fries and cinnamon butter - wow where has that been all my life? Definitely worth coming by here!

I'm so happy I stopped here! Cause I'm definitely coming back for another round of burger I ate it so fast! It came out the kitchen fast as well! Nice and hot and full of flavor! I built my own burger through the menu and the brought it to life! Also not to mention the whole decor going on in there! Have been a few times with the hubs while staying across the street for the Lions games. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice place to grab something to eat when getting into town![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Sat in the bar - service was good, staff were sweet and beer selection is nice. Love the choices to build your own burger - the fried pickle/mac and cheese bite combo on wagyu was a winner for me with onion rings! When ordering the tots, load those things up!! We'll always be back!

First time here. Happened to come across Basement Burger while driving around downtown Detroit. Amazing food. Drinks were awesome. Our waitress was very entertaining. Definitely recommend checking this place out even just for drinks. Warning the infused pineapple will have you sleeping like a baby

A good friend of mine and I came here to play catch up a few days after my surgery. I'd heard great things about the food here but hadn't been here before. We each built our burgers using Waygu Kobe beef and shared an appetizer sampler consisting of wings, pretzels and mozzarella cheese sticks. It was great to get out into the fresh air with great company and food! read more

Sign in foyer says masks are optional for vaccinated. Given a laminated menu. Price of drinks is not included. A coctail & can of beer were $9 each. Can build your own burger/ salad or choose from optioned menu. Can of beer was given with no glass. Food arrived fairly fast. read more

A local fan (Red Wing) favorite to dine at. I like the unique menu where you use a dry erase marker to decide how you want the burger cooked, toppings to add and the type of bun. The burger was delicious and perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed the sweet potato fries with a complimentary brown sugar sauce to dip in. The onion rings weren't anything special and will do without next time. Great burger spot & will be back again. read more

Arrived at 6pm and parked on the street right by the door. Greeted as we walked in and sat immediately. Our server was friendly enough but tended to talk as she walked by our table so we weren't sure if she was talking to us or not. We both ordered burgers and they were good and prepared the way we wanted them. Tots and onion rings were definitely frozen from a bag. They are still adding an 18% gratuity to the bill which is a shame because I normally give 20%. The hours are not the same as what we're listed online, they close at 8pm. The servers were collecting salt and pepper shakers at 7:15 so I was feeling rushed even though they were still seating people. read more

Absolutely love the concept of this place!!!! Build your own salad, burger, and shake.... FEED ME NOW!!! I love that on the burger you can pick everything from the bun to the paddy to the cheese and condiments!!! Being indecisive, it took me a little time to figure out what direction I wanted to go in and how much I wanted to spend on my toppings (I was drawn to the more expensive ones like Mac & cheese bites) but once I made my selections I wasn't disappointed (I even ate my leftovers cold)! I ended up picking the brioche bun (classic), medium well ground beef (cooked perfectly), smoked Gouda cheese (should have picked a stronger cheese like blue cheese but still good), bbq pulled pork (hearty & delicious), sweet bbq sauce, caramelized onions (I can't do bbq without these), and bacon!!! And of course when I see tots, I have to get them! I even saved room to split an Oreo cheesecake shake! Yes, you can mix & match shake flavors too!! Food was good overall. They messed my simple burger up twice! The bartender was overwhelmed with the bar and the tables near the bar. It started to show early on. She kept disappearing into the kitchen for long periods. Long wait times for her to return to ask if we needed anything. We asked for a box for our leftovers. She brings the box then disappeared again! Like girl we are ready to go! Anyone asking for a box is clearly finished eating It had been 5 years since I had been and now I remember why. Too short of staff or somebody there and not working! Either way go somewhere else unless you feel like sitting for 25 mins after your meal is done. Had to end up flagging another waitress down for our bill. She got the manager key and cashed us out. Any compensation for the two times the burger was wrong?! NOPE just thanks see ya later. Well no u won't ....ever! read more

The burgers are pretty tall but we're really good. Mine was slightly overcooked, but not a huge deal. The one memorable thing from this visit are the chairs. They are INCREDIBLY LOUD when slid or moved at all across the floor. The sound echos through the entire restaurant. I couldn't hear my conversation so I had to stop talking every time one moved. We got 2 burgers and a full order of fries with no drinks and our bill was just under $30. read more

So, this burger bar was just "ok" for me. I like various aspects of the business, but not enough to return. The burger and tots were both good, but I expected "great". The restaurant/bar has a cool feel to it. I also like the ordering format and choices. read more

The best start to a Jonas Brothers pregame is a delicious meal. Even though it was a 10 minute walk from our hotel I would've walked 20. This little restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, and first glance of the inside doesn't impress you right away. However, once you try the food it does all the talking. The menu reminds me of Barrio (shoutout Cleveland) style of ordering but for burgers. There are a lot of different options to choose from. I kept my burger pretty simples, but the garlic mayo is really what I couldn't stop thinking about. There were plenty of other normal and funky options to top off too. A great place to a delicious and reasonably priced meal! read more

I loved this place and am mad at myself for waiting so long to there. It's definitely going to be in my regular rotation for a good burger from now on! You get a menu that's a dry erase...and you fill it out for your own specific burger and sides!!! You can do the same with a salad or pizza. There are plenty of things for the veggie eaters! Service was great....the food was very good!! I was there at Christmas time so I had a peppermint White Russian! They have a full bar and a decent selection of beer and wine. read more

Well, we had already had a full day of drinking and he never got his breakfast. So we decided that we had better eat or risk being too drunk to enjoy ourselves. This was a very convenient spot located right across from where we were parked. I ordered the amazing fries with Feta. That is all I need in life. Feta cheese makes me happy. We devoured them. This spot is a fairly typical burger joint but the food was quite good. And just what we needed. Dinner was not until after 8 so this snack worked. I wouldn't come out of my way to come here but I do think people should give it a try if they are in the area. read more

If you like burgers, I don't think this place will disappoint you. They told us it would be a 20-30 minute wait but we were seated sooner than that. We got to play jumbo connect 4 while we waited for our food. The waitress was friendly but not really knowledgeable about the different beers. She did offer to get information from someone who knew a little more than she did. I appreciated that. I ordered a black bean burger and it was awesome. You pretty much tell them how you want it (unless you order a signature burger). I loved picking the toppings myself. However, I asked for pickles and they gave me tomato instead. I ended up with a side of pickles. Also, my husband had to ask for his water twice. But, these are small things. I would come here again and recommend it to my burger loving friends. It's also ok for kids. We had a 9 & 2 year old with us. read more

Cool little spot on Brush in Detroit. Sat quickly and attended to almost immediately. Shake was delicious they use Hudsonville Ice Cream..so good! The turkey burger was all white meat yet flavorful and juicy, my daughter had a beef burger that looked delicious as well. The BBQ pulled pork Tachos were on point . Be aware that this is an ala carte build your burger place so it cans add up quickly $$$. But it's so worth it. Also gratuity is automatically added to your bill. Enjoy. read more

MUST TRY Ended up coming here with my brother while he was in town. And let me tell you the burger was delicious didnt take long to grab a seat or the food. Run, don't walk, this place is phenomenal. I did the build your own salad and it was the best salad I've ever had. The chicken was seasoned and cooked to perfection. I was absolutely stuffed and still had a ton of it leftover. The bartender was so friendly and attentive. Highly recommend! read more

BBB is a one-of-a-kind burger joint with an EXTENSIVE menu! They offer TWO vegan burgers, a vegetarian burger, and a large number of patties that meat eaters would enjoy. You can even get toppings like frickles (fried pickles), onion rings, and mozzarella sticks on your burger! You definitely won't leave hungry! BBB is conveniently located downtown, and if you're lucky you might be able to find street parking. Definitely a go to if you're in the area. read more

Came here after a night out on Friday evening and I was overall not too impressed with my burger, although the service was great. The burger was build your own burger-type, kind of fun, but also LOTS of options and with all the potential up-charges, things can get complicated quick. I went for a basic non-themed lettuce, tomato, onion, beef burger with tots. Overall, the burger was OK. The fail was that the meat was not cooked to order and the overall burger turned out kinda bland and not super juicy. I had burger envy with my friends who chose the themed burgers that looked absolutely amazing. Perhaps I chose wrong, but despite that - the burger not being cooked medium rare was a big disappointment. All in all, I would come here again for another try - but hopefully just order a bit better next time! read more

Basement Burger Bar is a must try!! So if you are not an omnivore don't worry. The Basement Burger Bar has veggie friendly burgers or one can make their own salad. So the concept is simple and brilliant, create your own salad or burger by making check marks on the menu then handing that off to the wait staff. Basement Burger Bar has a plethora of options and you can also select side item(s) to enjoy. The burgers come out hot,fresh and the portions are generous. Basement Burger Bar service staff were quick and friendly. It seems there is street parking and garages nearby, but no private lot. This location has several TVs so one may watch various games. If you enjoy a good burger or salad, I would recommend the Basement Burger Bar. read more

Ample street parking available during the slower hours. They have a great menu of burgers however you can build your own which is what we did. The 1/2 order of the sides is more than enough for 1 person; get a full order only when sharing. Burgers were made exactly how we requested and they were delicious. It's a good place for a good burger and beer read more

Another solid burger joint in downtown Detroit! Located just outside of Greektown on Brush Street, BBB is a great place to stop in before or after a Tigers/Lions game. I'm a fan of the concept here -- build your own burger with various toppings. The menu is a dry erase board of sorts so you can check off what you'd like to build. You can build your own burgers, salads, and chicken sandwiches. The possibilities are endless! You're also able to choose what kind of bun and cheese you'd like. My go-to has been the grilled chicken sandwich on wheat, with parmesan cheese and chipotle mayo. The mayo is spicy but nothing too overpowering. It adds a nice kick to the chicken sandwich. The veggies taste like they're straight from a bag, which is a tad disappointing, but it doesn't ruin the sandwich. The downfall here is the service. We recently stopped in on a Friday night. The place wasn't slammed, but it definitely wasn't slow either. However, our waitress had too many tables or was overworked. She never stopped over to see if we needed refills and she handed us our bill right away. even though we told her when we ordered that we wanted to order a milkshake for dessert. My biggest pet peeve at a restaurant is when I'm given the bill without asking if I'm done / if I'd like to order dessert. We honestly felt rushed, even though no groups were waiting for a table. A most enjoyable experience! There are plenty of other reviews for this place, so I'll keep this short and simple. There are 20 items on tap, and not just the usual stuff. Lots of local brews, lots of interesting choices. I went with the PB&J Ale from Elk Brewing. Definitely not something I've heard before, and it was terrific. The usual items are there on their "BYO Burger" menu. The use of a dry erase marker and menu is a nice touch. I was able to take my time and build a custom sandwich but was truly delicious. The cook seems to have his act together in terms of what "medium" really means when it comes to a burger. So many other places either bring it out bloody or burned to a crisp when you order medium, this place did neither and got it perfect! Service was attentive and friendly throughout, I really felt relaxed from the moment I stepped in. Lots of tvs on sports and a pretty good music playlist don't hurt either. Hope to return! read more

I enjoyed the concept of building your own burger and was excited that they had alternatives to red meat including black beans, Impossible and mushrooms. But the black bean burger was really bland and dry. It definitely needed a sauce of some kind. The sweet potato fries were good, crispy and evenly cooked. It was okay. Build your own burger and enjoy craft beer or cocktails while you do it. Vegan options are here and they were kind enough to bring out an ingredients book so we knew what was in everything. I built a big ole bacon cheese burger and had a side of frickles. Gf had an impossible burger and had some frickles too. The frickles are long style not chip style so that was fun and tasty. I also had a few cocktails made with local spirits but they were pricy drinks. The main issue we had is that before we ordered the bartender ran down a rather long list of things they were out of and so we had to try and order around shortages which was a hassle but of course not her fault. Overall the experience was fairly good and we both enjoyed our food. read more

The staff was friendly but took an hour and a half to seat our party. The tables were ended up being sat at were open the whole time we waited. We did have a larger party with us so we understood not wanting to overwhelm the kitchen, but they still could have seated us instead of making us wait so long. There's an automatic 18% gratuity that isn't openly shared. Food was decent but my husband's smash burger was clearly not a smash burger, they forgot our shake, and the chicken to someone's salad. On the plus side, they did have good drinks. read more

I was so excited about the options to place on my burger that I didn't really even look at the menu for whatever else they had! Burger - Juicy and cooked to perfection. Asked for Medium Well and received just that! Flavor was a freshly grilled taste with the smokehouse classic seasonings. I added Pulled BBQ, Coleslaw, and Pickles to top the whole thing off. Also, I had a pretzel bun! The bun was a little thick and I would say that I wish it had been toasted or steamed for a better experience. Drinks - I ordered the Smokey Old Fashion. It was smooth and tasted like a classic. They do have options of other specialty drinks as well as a decent rotation of beers "on tap". These were the only things I looked at while I was there. Ambiance - It was a Saturday night around 5:00-5:30 pm. Expected noise since there would be sports on and this was a place to be to watch. We were seated on the bar side. It was loud, REALLY loud. The vibe feels intimate and tucked away--perfect for catching up with a friend, having a private conversation, or even a little "secret rendezvous" . I ordered the Croque Monsieur and an espresso, and both were absolutely delicious. The Croque Monsieur was rich, flavorful, and satisfying, while the espresso was smooth and perfectly prepared. If you're looking for a place to work, it's great for solo productivity, reading, writing, or answering emails. However, it can get a bit lively and loud, so I wouldn't recommend it for virtual meetings or calls. For focused work without meetings, though, it's a perfect spot. Overall, Cafe Sous Terre offers great food, excellent coffee, and one of the most charming atmospheres in Detroit. I'll definitely be back! Oh and the service epic -

didn't even get to try it was in town from a 13 hour drive for two days for worked heard amazing things didn't know they close at a crazy 5pm on the first day of the week why is beyond me but if that not enough i tried order at 4:05 and couldn't because they stop taking orders at 4 and wouldn't answer phone when i tried to call horrible customer service and just terrible hours in general to bad that could be changed by the food i didn't get to try. maybe now i'll never get to read more

Food was good. Service was good. However - very slow. Place was fairly empty and crazy slow. I did a build your burger - wife did a premade off menu. They were just good, nothing we'd crave or rave about. We LOVED the sweet potato fries. Come with a dip that's not listed on menu. Butter. Cinnamon. Brown sugar. So good. That made the stop worthwhile. We went for convenient location. We did not try any beers or drinks. read more

The cinnamon dipping sauce and sweet potato fries alone make it worth coming here! I highly recommend trying them; they're life-changing. The burgers are also good, and you can completely customize them. It's a "build your burger" kind of place, with options for the meat, bread, cooking style, toppings, sauces, sides, and more. I grew up eating my fathers backyard burgers, so my standards are high. I've been to the Basement Burger Bar on several occasions and most of the time they are fantastic! Once the burger was pretty dry, but it was way more crowded that time than the others so I'll just chalk it up as a fluke. I really don't think you can go wrong, here. read more

Great food, alright mood/atmosphere. You can build your burger and they had a juicy meat. It is absolutely good, better than most burger places. I came here because of the good reviews, and it was definitely worth it. From the outside it looks pretty basic, but it's definitely a place I recommend you to visit. Had some time before the Monster Jam at Ford Field. For being a busy day the wait was really short. The burgers were phenomenal and the Fries and Shine was outstanding. Kristin C and the staff were awesome. Highly recommended. read more
