I cannot rave enough about this place! I came twice in a week so I could try a couple of different things. The first visit I got the Cluck & Gaufre (Goof)- 10/10. I haven't had a waffle that good in my LIFE. The texture and flavor are what dreams are made of. The chicken was fried perfectly and the hot sauce was just the right amount of heat. The sweetness from the maple butter was just enough for me, all of the flavors were very balanced with the dish served as is. But they do offer syrup if you'd like to add a little more. The next visit I tried the French toast super flight and sweet potato & sage hash. Both were delicious. All of the French toasts were really good- I see why it's famous. The lemon was my favorite I think. Because I could actually taste the lemon and not just sugar. But I would have liked a little more zing. The Carmel was my 2nd favorite. Everything was perfectly seasoned each time. The service was so friendly and welcoming. From start to finish. It's a small space, and very homey. I love the LaColumbe brisket hash, a rich, tender smoked brisket with potatoes, eggs of your choice, and a savory COFFEE sauce. The food and service are good. Last time I was there I got the French Toast Flight. The different flavors put a nice twist on a typical French toast. The atmosphere had a nice crowd but if it's busy it can get a little loud. It's more of a spot for adults more so than a family restaurant. One thing I must mention is however good the food the portions are pretty underwhelming for the price so it's definitely not a big value place. The French toast flight comes in 4 cut pieces and doesn't come with a meal just the french toast by itself. Wow! The service and atmosphere at Batter & Berries made me feel like I was at home (Houston, TX). We started our meal with the French Top Flight. It was so delicious we forgot to take a picture. For our entrees we had catfish, beef short ribs, and creole crab cake. These were top notch specials and you won't find them on the menu. You must try their in house hot sauce. Always a plus to dine at BOB's! A family member suggested this place for brunch while visiting Chicago. It would have been a plus to if we were able to add ourselves to the waitlist from Yelp. Bring a bottle of champagne to add to your orange, cranberry or whatever juice you prefer! Our waiter Tusuime (spell check) was phenomenal! Very animated and made our experience enjoyable. Now here's the thing, we're from New Orleans so seafood hits different for us so with that being said...the food was good. My egg was fried way too hard so I pushed it to the side. The wait was ridiculous but the food was amazing! We were visiting from out of town and this was the only restaurant in our time in Chicago that met our expectations! The restaurant was small and loud. I ordered the lamb chop breakfast with eggs, B&B hash-browns, and a short stack of pancakes. Each chop was cooked differently, even though I requested that all of them were medium well. The one that was cooked to my liking was delicious and the scrambled eggs, perfect! My husband ordered the caramel French toast, which I expected to be a sugary mess, was light, crispy and amazing. My niece, the breakfast sandwich and strawberry French toast and all were equally amazing. The only disappointment was my pancakes that I was charged for that never made it to the table in time. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and the place was at capacity. We tried to join the waitlist via Yelp but it had been disabled. We ended up having to go in person to get on the list at the restaurant. Initially we were told it would be a 2 hour wait. I think in reality it was about an hour wait. Our server was great and made sure we were aware of all of the specials that were not on the menu. And also worth mentioning, our water glasses were always full! The young man responsible for water kept our refills coming. It was great. I couldn't decide between French toast or waffles so I got both. As fast as he can talk, he listens to WHO you are and makes amazing suggestions accordingly. Great Service is icing on the cake, the cake is the phenomal food. It is simple with a twist. They always have super specials that include savory surf and seafoods: lobster, shrimp, short ribs, etc. We chose the standards, that flavor wise are anything but standard, they're superb: Large pillowy Buckwheat pancakes. They have that nutty deliciousness without the heaviness that can sometimes accompany. They were topped with Blueberries and Strawberries and delicious Maple Butter, which I believe is also in the batter. The Flight of French Toast is a RICH medley of goodness, topped with fruits, nuts, zest a luxuriously whipped scoop of cloudlike butter. The bacon is thick cut and crisp. The Chicken Sausage is homemade. The eggs are fluffy and can have a bevy of cheeses if desired. We also requested the super flavor packed Garlic Hot Sauce, which they should bottle (with real chunks of minced garlic.) It is a BYOB but plenty of juices. We had straight Cranberry & a thick mix of Cranberry and Pineapple. Parking is street parking. Join the waiting list immediately. Bathrooms are CLEAN! We went here for breakfast on Christmas day. The place was very busy but amazingly under control. Uber eats were flying out the door! This place is very authentic. The decor is very basic. The food was amazing! We've been to ten different restaurants in this area and I love this one the best. Not pretentious and the diversity of the menu is perfect! The staff is very friendly and attentive! The only problem was i never got my toast but completely forgivable considering it was Christmas day and they were among the very few restaurants open.
