The service was excellent, our waiter patient and attentive to us. The ambiance of the place was also a very nice, warm surprise. However, we left feeling underwhelmed and disappointed, especially for the price we paid. I ordered the steak tips and mac, but unfortunately the flavor of the steak was just too overbearing. I brushed it off as being well-seasoned, but the last few bites I managed tasted just too salty. My boyfriend's french dip was nothing special, especially for being priced at $25. On a separate note, the bread pudding we had at the end of our dinner was amazing. So I came here with a friend on a Friday night! I was super excited because I've been wanting to try this place for awhile. The good news is, the food is good! The bad news is, the service left much to be desired. We made reservations and were promptly seated. However, after that our waiter pretty much disappeared for almost 15 minutes. After patiently waiting and seeing other patrons who arrived after us, get served before us, we anxiously started looking around in the hopes that someone would notice us and come to our table. Thankfully, I locked eyes with a man who appeared to be the manager and he sent someone random to our table at least get our drink and appetizer orders. While I appreciated that, it was kind of a bummer that we were pretty much forgotten about for such a long time. Anyway, after that minor hiccup, the rest of the night went pretty smoothly! Our waiter came back into the equation and was pretty attentive for the rest of the night. Now onto the brighter side of things, the food was fabulous! Thankfully, we arrived during happy hour (which is from 4-7 by the way), so we got to try some appetizers from that menu! We ordered the bacon wrapped stuffed jalapeños and the beer battered fish tacos, to start. Both appetizers were delicious. The fish tacos were super light and fresh and the jalapeños had the perfect amount of savory cream and spice! For my entrée I ordered the butcher burger and bacon because, what's a burger without bacon?! Anyway, it was great! Juicy and cooked to perfection. Also, the fries came with a side of ketchup that they made in house! According to the waiter, all of the sauces are made in house, from scratch, and you can taste the difference! So delicious! The fries were also on point, skinny, crispy, and so good! My friend and I also shared a side of mac and cheese and it was FANTASTIC!! So cheesy, and so creamy!! One thing I have to mention is the portion sizes here are pretty small. They're obviously going with the quality over quantity approach, which is always appreciated! So yeah, just wanted to give you guys the heads up on that because if you're looking for Texas sized plates, this is NOT the place for that. Another thing I have to note is the aesthetic! I absolutely loved it. So chic and so modern! Everything was so well done. So yeah, overall it was a decent experience. Covered outside patio has lounge area as well - tables typically 2 or 4 persons... overall very clean - so ambiance scores. We split the Bavette steak and subbed an arugula salad for the french fries. They do not specify the cut of steak, but my guess would be tri-tip. Steak was perfectly grilled and very flavorful. The salad was an excellent compliment. Just enough for both of us without feeling we overate. Good service is always appreciated, and the service was good but a little too attentive. When you keep talking and we are not looking at you maybe that's a queue to stop talking. An experienced waiter can pickup on these queues. Loved it, and we'll be sure to be back! read more

Hubby and I went to Bavette Grill today for lunch and were in love. He had been there before, but I had not. Everything from the start was delightful. The manager greeted us and escorted us to our table and our server was so sweet and on top of it. The "fried" chicken is breaded in tapioca flour; making it inherently GF. It was delicious. Hubby got the 50 day flat iron steak, not pictured, and it was so tender! We also got the short rib croquettes and they just fell apart. To die for! You can always tell a place is top-notch when a restaurant's espresso martini is delicious. The manager was informing us that the owner also owns EG Steakhouse. My friend and I were driving and starving, and we were driving down the Sam Rayburn looking for restaurants to try that we haven't yet, and came across this lovely little restaurant alley with a bunch of places we haven't tried, so obviously we had to try the fanciest looking one in the pictures, The Bavette. And it was probably the best decision we made that week. We went into The Bavette with some what of expectations simply because of the way the decor set them out to look. They tried to come off as this fancy, fine dining feel. It worked, most of the time. However it was a little confusing because a lot of the waiters were wearing jeans and sneakers or something of the sort, so it quickly broke us out of the fine-dining illusion. Not that that deducts from points or anything, just something I thought I'd point out. The staff were all super friendly and always were accommodating. But now onto the most important part, the food... The food was unbelievably fantastic for what we were expecting. I wanted it to be good, but didn't have a clue it would be that good. We got the Deviled Eggs, Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Jalapeños, Butcher Burger, French Dip, and some desserts that I can't remember the name of, but they were delicious. The Deviled Eggs were amazing because not only did they taste like good deviled eggs, but they had a candied bacon sliver in the middle that made it that much better. The Back Wrapped Stuffed Jalapeños were also phenomenal. The Jalapeños themselves were fantastic, but what really elevated it was the delicious sauce they had going on at the bottom. That was really the star of our appetizers. As for the entrees, the Butcher Burger was one of my favorite burgers in the DFW area, easily top 10. Simple in its design, but executed perfectly. The French Dip was the star of the whole dinner, though. I love French Dip since it comes with a variety of textures and tastes that meld so well together with the au jus, and this place didn't drop the ball on any of it. French Dip can be rough since the meat could be overcooked, the bread could be wrong, and the au jus could taste terrible or have the wrong consistency, but this place got it all right. Definitely worth the try, and definitely will be back for more! read more

Our first time at this restaurant, we were celebrating our anniversary and I just wanted a quite nice place. It really didn't disappoint. You can make reservation through its website and they asked you if you are celebrating anything. Soo many restaurants ask, but they don't really do anything, which makes you wonder why do they bother to ask in the first place. But Bavette Grill was different, after we were greeted, the host wished us happy anniversary, and left a card on our table, towards the end of the meal the waiter just offered to compliment our dessert even before we said anything, and through out dinner everyone was very attentive and courteous. The place is cozy and tastefully decorated, not very busy for a Saturday night so I really hope they can stay around. Food was great and prices are what you would expect from a place like this. We wanted someplace different; preferably French, quiet, and relaxing, to celebrate our anniversary. We had just moved to the area and had a few favorite places, most of which were quite loud and sometimes chaotic. We even went to the top-rated French restaurant previously, but found it ear-splittingly loud, with extremely slow service, high prices, and only adequate food. This place, however, was perfect! It was tastefully decorated, low-key ambiance, with pleasing background music, dim lighting, comfortable seating (even a throw pillow in the booths for extra comfort!), attentive wait staff, and truly excellent food. To start, we shared the indescribably delicious short rib croquettes. There were three on a platter, and had a unique blend of flavors. They were generously sized, but we finished them quickly. I had looked at the menu on their website prior, and thought I wanted a Croque Monsieur, but wasn't too disappointed that it wasn't on the menu. Instead, I got the French Dip. Rather than the stringy, gristly slices of beef I've had in other places, this was a fresh French roll stuffed with large nuggets of tender, juicy, , perfectly done beef, with just the right amount of tangy horseradish sauce. Additionally, the sandwich was bias cut, to make it easier to dip the corner into the accompanying au jus. It came with their wonderful, skinny, crisp, and perfectly seasoned fries. My partner had the Butcher Burger, and said it was thick, tasty, and delicious. I had iced tea, and rather than serving it in small juice glasses ;as did the "top-rated" French restaurant, this was in a proper tall iced tea glass, which was refilled constantly, without my having to ask. My partner had a lemonade, which was also good, and also replaced with a new glass when empty; but, there is a per-drink charge for the lemonade, unlike the tea. For dessert we chose the dark chocolate cheesecake, which was unique, smooth, and delicious, sprinkled with candied toffee pieces. I would highly recommend this place for a definitely upscale experience, excellent food, great ambiance, excellent food, and reasonable prices. read more

There was a little confusion about who our server was upon arrival and we waited a bit, but after that was sorted out the service was really outstanding. Each person was magnificent - the hostess, Eric our server, and the bar staff. We started with the steak crostini appetizer which was really delicious. Then each had the Butcher Burger which is a unique blend of 3 meats. The burger was tender and quite flavorful; a must try! The shoestring garlic herb fries were hot and so good. I tried the "Kiss from a Rose" drink, it was unique and enjoyable without being too sweet. To top off the meal our server recommended the Coquito (shot). A traditional drink made in Puerto Rico. However, our bartender had said that it was really tender and since they don't offer the filet, we reluctantly ordered the Bavette Steak. We were blown away on how tender it was. To describe, it's a 50 day wet-aged USDA Prime cut with sweet pineapple ginger marinade. To be sure, I did not get my fill sharing it with the hubby. We both wished they had more menu items.
