Bawarchi Biryanis is a three star experience for me -- and honestly, the food alone could push it higher, but there are too many other factors holding it back. Let's start with the good: the food is genuinely amazing. Bold flavors, solid portions, and worth seeking out. However, I'd strongly recommend ordering to go rather than dining in, and come prepared for some hurdles along the way. The customer service is rough -- and that's putting it mildly. It doesn't seem like anyone here has ever been introduced to customer service training, basic hospitality, or even common courtesy. What makes it bittersweet is that you can look some of the staff in the eyes and tell they're genuinely trying -- they just haven't been given the tools or guidance to pull it off. That falls on management. The restaurant itself also needs some serious love. The ambiance is on the rough side and the space could benefit from reinvestment -- remodeling, fresh decor, some TLC. The bar area in particular has a lot of untapped potential that isn't being utilized. The restaurant is a decent size, but it's clear that management and financial reinvestment haven't been prioritized. I've smelled yummy smells from this restaurant many times when I stopped to get juice next door. It's been very alluring and a friend and I finally got there. Every dish we tried was absolutely fantastic, the staff was beyond kind and helpful, and the kitchen staff even all came out to say hello for my birthday. I have been to Bawarchi Biryanis a few times with co-workers and each time the food has been good. I'm no expert on Indian food but luckily my co-workers are and they like the food here. It is a chain and there's lots of locations around the US and other countries While the food is good, the service has been a little hit-or-miss. I have only been here for lunch and I've only seen maybe three other tables so not super packed. The bar area also appears to be just a storage area for some random equipment. I've been to Bawarchi's a couple of times now and their biryani has always been pretty good. I normally get their Chicken dum biryani and I'll occasionally get their goat biryani as well but they're always flavorful and taste pretty good. I think their meat to rice ratio is also solid, there's only been once or twice where I wished they put in a little bit more meat. The biryani is very heavy and has a lot of calories/fat but at the same time it fills you up. I can't really speak to the other food because I don't go to Barwachi's for anything except the biryani. The inside of the restaurant is like a typical Indian restaurant. Nothing super flashy but still feels like an Indian restaurant. Staff is average. Feels like they're understaffed a lot of the time and are constantly strained to be able to help everyone. Overall biryani is pretty good (don't know about the other food) but hospitality is lacking. read more

I was excited to see so many 5 star reviews about this place, so I came in with very high expectations. Honestly was not as impressed as I had hoped. Food came out pretty fast, amount of servers seemed to be limited though. The garlic naan was good, but you were hit pretty hard with an overpowering amount of garlic. Butter chicken was the best dish we ordered, but definitely not the best butter chicken I've ever had. This was my first time having biryani and it was more dry than I was expecting. Incredibly horrid smell hits you as soon as entering the restaurant. Smell a combination of wet laundry clothes, sewage, and dirty mats.

Only reason I gave this place a second star is the food is great. Customer service and time to wait for to go orders is horrendous. We have been ordering take out from here for 5 years, but the last three times have been so bad, it's time to move on. Tonight was the last straw, the photo shows how many people were waiting for to go orders that were promised minimum 20min earlier which is not the norm, or hasn't been. Last time I was here I left my name and number and asked for a manager to call me. No call, but I decided to give it a chance. Hate to move on, but my money can be spent better elsewhere. Also, they don't give onions and lime, an integral part of tandoori chicken unless you ask for it. Only people from different ethnicities were dining there, didn't look like anyone was from India. Ordered takeout from Bawarchi Biryanis on our way home from the airport. I called the order in and the lady on the phone was pleasant and helpful. Our order was ready when we arrived 20 minutes later. I sent my husband inside to pick up the food and he said everything went smoothly. We ordered the following: Garlic naan Paneer tikka masala Chicken tikka masala Chicken biryani The food was packaged well and still warm when we arrived home. Everything was flavorful. The naan was soft and had plenty of garlic. Love dipping it in the tikka masala. The tikka masala had great consistency; it was rich and creamy. My guys also enjoyed their entrees. Best Indian food I've had in AZ. Chicken and goat were both cooked perfectly without that overcooked chewy meat I get just about everywhere else. People giving it 1 star because of a customer service experience shouldnt be allowed to write reviews. It's a sub $15/dish casual dining restaurant, not a fancy steakhouse. If the food is good, it should be rated accordingly. They dont let you choose spice levels. Good, as it should be. You order and eat it as they designed the dish. If you dont like spices and curry, why are you even here? Dont get me started with people saying they are weirdly getting acid reflux after eating spicy food. I pieced mild and this time it was actually mild but still had a small kick of spice but was perfect!!! The rice was perfectly steamed. I'll be getting it again! This time, the staff were great!!! Foods great but last couple of times Iv gone it's been pretty disappointing not in the food but their customer service when trying to order I was asking little questions and actually asking for recommendations because It was still the second/3rd time going so I wanted to try something new and when asking on the phone they were just being aggressive and disrespectful to where I let them know I no longer wanted to order because of how they made me feel and hung up not even a minute later they called back apologizing but it didn't seem sincere I had gotten a goat/lamb dish but it had bones in it which they never mentioned to me when ordering in person and there was more bones than there was meat other than that food and spices is great just wish their customer service would improve read more

I also threw in an Indian grocery store for good measure, Patel Brothers. It is in the same complex. Atmosphere - I can not put my finger on it, just is a little awkward. The employ service area could be a little more hidden. Floors were a little slick, if you worked fast food, it felt as if you were in the kitchen area after a long shift. Food Drink - Just water, they have a bar but no liquor on the menu. I was hoping for a beer. Appetizer - My wife I shared the app and a meal for our lunch. We started with Guntur Chicken. Our waiter actually came back and asked what heat level we wanted. We agreed Medium. I like heat and that was pushing the level for me, the heat was all on the back end which allowed you to enjoy that tasty chicken. I learned afterwards the Guntur is a type of pepper. I did not notice this until writing my review, the picture online of the dish had cashews, none were in our dish. Lunch - My wife loves Biryanis and we asked our waiter for a recommendation on the vegetarian menu as they have six choices. He recommend the Ulavacharu Veg Dum Biryani, I asked him how to say the first, forget it, I will not be able to say it. All I know is that it was good. Some of the vegetables in it was sparse. I only had one piece of cauliflower. But two of us eating it, and we took half home with us. The biryanis came with two sauces, a peanut and the other was yogurt based. The peanut was too thin, while the yogurt was our favorite. Service - It was fine, they only had one waiter working the room. So there was some delays. Thankfully we were not in a rush. The naan was excellent. The service was also very good and they were nice and accommodating for us to sit on the outdoor patio. The daal was good. The Chinese type chicken on the platter was weird. The biryani was good, solid 4 stars. The other chicken dish was good also. I deducted a full point for service, service was poor and rude. I was never asked about ordering a beverage or anything. The lady was rude from the moment I walked in and I almost thought she wanted me to leave. I had planned to order tea or beer or a lassi with lunch but since she never asked me I was not going to spend more than what I'd already ordered which was the non-veg lunch platter. I was also going to order a to go dinner ad I often like to try many dishes my first time at a restaurant. I find poor service at an Indian restaurant to be unusual, but it definitely left an impression. The food was just ok and not worth trying again. Wanted to try this place for awhile and it's super close to our house which was a plus...I ordered two garlic naan and gongura chicken... it wasn't bad but it was great either... the garlic naan was more buttery then what I am use too... I wish the dish came with some veggies like carrots and potatoes inside but it didn't.. it did have enough chicken though was nice... My husband and I got chicken 65, butter chicken masala, curry leaf gobi, kadai paneer, and garlic naan! Chicken 65 was over cooked and very dry, it was like my husband was eating rocks! Kadai paneer had no salt and not at all edible, overly spicy! The curry leaf gobi surprisingly had no curry leaves. It was supposed to be fried but looks like the chef forgot to fry them. We came across a huge banner in front of Patel brothers grocery store and had to take a look. They are new and I checked their website, looked pretty promising. I went ahead with grub hub and ordered their famous biryanis. We went with Tempura, vijyawada and chicken biryani. With so many Indian restaurants in chandler they had quite a shoe to fill. The food arrived on time and was warm. Out of all the biryanis we tried Tempura was the best, the taste was delicious and everything worked perfectly. The least liked was vijaywada, it lacked the spice and taste. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, they have quite a lot of options to pick from and they have set the right foot.
