Zero stars bartender named Renee who's claims to have been there for 8 years has one of the worst customer service I've ever encountered. My friend accidentally dropped her water at the bar and she starts to throw the water all over her instead of wiping it down in the other direction. Despite being mainly a poker place, they still can't get it right. The dealer screwed up. Calling the floorman, he just backed up the dealer's lies. Careful. Some dealers and players collude here and angle you. They threatened to call security and invalidate my chips and ban me because I complained about it. I was forced to pay into the pot or else be banned. They wouldn't let me just leave and cash my chips. I was compelled to add chips to the pot that I had not committed either by putting chips in nor verbally in any manner. The dealer got it wrong and no one took my side even though the players near me who saw what happened agreed with my version of the story. Other people, selfish as they are, just sided with management so they could keep playing even though they had no vantage point to see or hear. That's such bs that they would take a side just to move the game along faster. Yeah, I get it, you want to play. But seriously, those regulars all support each other and don't care about newbies. Management could have just acknowledged the mistake, but they kept the table held up to compel me to pay $100 into the pot while I tried to explain my version of events. I asked them to check the tape which they didnt. I guess they only do that if things go their way. But they can and will use their power over you. Just know when you sit at their table you are subject to their rules. And if they want $100 from you, they will take it with force and threat of security and banning you. My only recourse is to relay this story to anyone who will hear it. Terrible customer service and too much insider tit for tat. They are not objective towards their customers. So unless you're a regular, don't count on any fair rulings for you at all. Just awful and blatantly biased towards their regulars. Sure I get it. By the time we got our order it was already pass 1:30AM and was super sleepy. Food was alright. Fried Rice: It was alright nothing out of the ordinary Steak: It's more of a lean cut, no fats, so it was a bit dry. But steak is steak and it definitely sorta satisfied our steak cravings. I have been playing here on and off since 2004 and I have a love/hate relationship with this place. The food is always very well priced and the pho noodle soup here is OUTSTANDING. It's almost a sure bet to get a quick, inexpensive meal here during anytime of the day or night and you don't have to gamble to eat (although they have early bird player specials for 3.50 from 6:00am to 9:00am M-F that you can get a big breakfast at if your sitting at a card table. I have never played on the California side and really have no wish to. All my experience here has been with the poker side of the casino. Bay 101 offers Limit hold em 2-4 3-6 6-12 8-16 20-40 40-80 and 100-200. They also offer a spread limit 5-200 game max buy in 200 and a 10-200 game max buy in 1000. The spread limit cash game is the closest you'll get to NL here but the blinds are killer. 5 for BB 3 for SB and 2 for the button. Every time the button goes around the table it costs you 10 bucks. As far as I am concerned, 2-4 and 3-6 limit hold em are losing games here. Anybody who tells you otherwise is a liar. There is no bluffing here. The motto for these games is "Any 2 cards to the river" and that's truly what I mean. People will play ANY 2 cards to the river and you can NEVER count on the hand you flopped to hold up. People will catch runner runner straights and flushes ALL DAY. The way you win money with these games is by getting lucky. Now here is my speech for players in these low limit games. Your best bet is to bring an ipod so you don't have to listen to any of these idiots at the table but if your forced to hear peoples comments then here is what I gotta say about this: If you don't like getting sucked out on the river then DON'T PLAY LOW LIMIT HOLD EM! They call it a spread limit tourney but they make the limits so high it's basically no limit. If you DON'T WANT TO GET SUCKED OUT PLAYING LIMIT QUIT BITCHING ABOUT IT AND PLAY ONE OF THESE TOURNEYS. Sorry for all the yelling here but wow it can sure get frustrating at this casino when you got the same a-holes in the same predicaments every day of the year. The majority of folks who play here have a gambling problem and won't admit it. You can see the look on peoples faces here that have a problem. They reach into there pocket over and over again to re buy with another 40 or 60 dollars. Over and over and over again. They'll play EVERY single hand to the river and do all of the aforementioned things that I hate. Don't expect warm friendly chat at any of these tables most of these players are putting themselves in debt and that's never something to smile about. And my last bit business here has to do with dealers. Tip your dealers. Tip them well. If you can afford to gamble then you can afford to tip. A lot of dealers play cards here when they are not on the clock. Do not be intimidated by a dealer rubbing elbows with you at a table. A lot of the dealers who work here and play here are degenerate gamblers themselves and will try to bluff their way to the top. If you asked all the dealers here if they were up or down in winnings for the year 99% of them are down and the ones telling you they are not are probably lying unless you see them at the 100-200 table and even then they are probably still lying. Supposed "sharks" that make a living off of there poker winnings are far and few between and certainly don't play at casinos like this when theres are so many better options in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The food here is 4 stars. The tournament play is 3 stars. The limit play is 2 stars. The dealers are 4 stars. The service people are 4 stars. What's in a name? Bay 101 is NOT an introductory college course in Marine Biology. Bay 101 is NOT a secret agent with cat-like reflexes. Bay 101 is NOT even a soft rock radio station. Bay 101 is a California-style Casino with California card games on the left and a poker room on the right. The place also has a restaurant and a deli, but any reasonable person knows that the only reason to visit this establishment is to play some poker. As far as California card rooms go, Bay 101 is probably the best one. The room is spacious and well-lit. There's a station with free tea and coffee. The waiters can bring inexpensive food right to your table, so you can eat while you play. Bay 101 even has an electronic queue; i.e., the software that eliminates the need for an antiquated waiting list. However, if you dug a little deeper, you'd notice that things are not as rosy as they seem. The room feels spacious because they have smaller, 9-person tables. I prefer 10-person tables, like the ones they have in Vegas. When I came in, they only had $3/$6, $6/$12 and $8/$16 with half kill Limit Texas Hold'Em. They also had two spread limit tables, California's answer to the more popular No Limit Hold'Em. Finally, their poker chips are very shiny and slippery, which makes them difficult to stack and impossible to shuffle. I know you think I am just picking on the good people at Bay 101, but the quality of the chips is important! I am also one-for-four in my last four visits to Bay 101. Three of my last four visits ended with me storming out of the casino, angry, frustrated and "on tilt," if you will. The wait times and the lines can be absolutely ridiculous. It's not uncommon to have to wait 2-3 hours for a table. I guess I had good luck on Sunday, because for some reason there was no wait at 5 pm. It doesn't help that Bay 101 shamelessly favors their regular customers. Regulars can easily bribe their way and bypass the line. I was sent to the table, but the floor man asked me to switch tables just as I was about to post my blind. "But the gentleman sent me here," I said. "Yes, but he [obviously a regular] had asked for a table change." That's it. Management's decision is final. It was so . . . "Mr. Cohen always here!" (* see below). I had no choice but to switch tables. The crowd is mostly middle aged to old people huddled around card tables for hours often smelling like they just got back from a gym. The staff is rude and favors locals who are allowed to cut to the front of poker table lines. A group of friends and I came here on a Friday night to check the place out. It was surprisingly crowded and the parking lot was quite full. Our intention was to play some blackjack, paigow poker, and three-card poker. From the outside, Bay 101 looks like a great establishment with the exception of the strange yellow lighting. Once we entered the casino, it's definitely a different type of atmosphere.. sadly to say, the atmosphere is a bit depressing. Compared to other "casinos" that you would find either up north or in Nevada, Bay 101 is definitely a different experience. If you are looking to play cards, this is definitely the place to go.. however, there is a $1 commission charge on each hand you play. The main focus of this establishment is to PLAY CARDS. There are also no slot machines and definitely no free beverages. Giving Bay 101 two stars.. staff was friendly and if your focus is to play cards, you get to play cards. Aside from that, the $1 commission charge and the atmosphere is the main reason for the low rating. My preference would be drive further to other "casinos" such as Graton since you have much more options there and the vibe/atmosphere is definitely more "casino-like". read more

I'll start off with the positives, the floor people/runners were nice and accommodating. I played at my little hometown racetrack card room a bit. I had seen some crazy shit and was planning on seeing more. I'd sit a bit at the cheap NL tables when I was in Vegas. No big deal. I thought that I would come for some Saturday morning action and see what this place was about. I ended up getting felted. I blew most of it on one hand. I was getting zero read from him and he was a maniac, so I wasn't very respectful and wanted to get my bets into the limit game. Top two pair on the flop was okay with me. Blah blah. I notice after the turn that he's blasted drunk and I hadn't noticed until he slurred "got a lot of kings, yehhh?" and I was like. Oh. Well that's not good. Sure enough, he had the only two cards left in the deck that would take me. So that morning, I learned to take better assessment of players. I wouldn't have thought that I would have missed someone being powerhaused at 10am, but I did. Still cheap considering. Its a fkn dump, can I be any more clearer? The poker tables are wedged in, the dealers have no customer service/interaction skills. The players are annoying and several "businessmen" are overly aggresive and over bet almost every hand and they of course play almost every hand. The BJ area is no better. They have only a handful of tables, which are crowded and do not have auto shufflers. The cards are delivered to the table in a preshuffled case. Similar to the M8trix, the BJ tables allow for multiple bets and at any point some a-hole will drop chips on your hand and overtake the action. I am not sure what idiot decided to make this rule in the area. I have never seen it anywhere else and it absolutely discourages me from playing at either casino. If you like playing poker where there is always hot action, you need to get your ass to Bay 101. The action is crazy every day filled with people who love to game and what's the best game to play to exploit this little fact? The 5-200 spread limit game of Texas Hold'em. It's not a true no limit game in that you can only bet/raise the max of $200, but it's the closest thing you'll find in the main Bay Area Cali. They also have a $10-200 game in which the buy in range is from $400-1000, but once again with the $200 max raise cap.
