This review is way overdue. I have to say that Sean and associates are amazing at what they can do for HVAC systems. I've had Sean help with my Furnace on multiple occasions and install an AC unit and both are exceptionally solid! 1. Sean installed my AC unit in 2006 and it is still running like a champion. I've never had one issue running it from 2006- present. 2. I've had Sean examine my furnace and he does a serious evaluation of making sure everything is good to go. 3. One time my furnace igniter broke and my furnace was making this weird clicking sound on the coldest day of the year. I called Sean and he promptly told me he would send an associate out the following day. Once on-site, they got the issue solved and replaced the igniter. I'd suggest taking your business elsewhere if you're at all concerned about how the service technicians treat your neighbors. The service truck was parked behind the parking space that was assigned to me by the woman I am renting my apartment from - I did not choose the space myself and I can't park elsewhere because other spots in my garage are also assigned. That's important for the rest of the story. I called the phone number on the truck to calmly ask for the truck to be moved. After 5 minutes, the service tech showed up and begrudgingly moved his truck, asking angrily "where am I supposed to park?!" When I suggested he park on the street at a meter, like all of my guests do, he responded "phhht I'm not doing that!" I was able to return my car back to my assigned parking space before his job at my building was complete (he had relocated to a street parking spot, after all!). The next time I went to my vehicle, however, he had left a note suggesting I am an asshole because I park in a handicap space but have no handicap. Would it have been better if I actually had a handicap?! I don't know how they conduct or complete the actual service, but this particular service technician was extremely confrontational and rude. read more

On a cold night and the furnace is only blowing lukewarm air, I need help!! Call pretty much every HVAC places on yelp near me, this is the only place that picked up the phone, and I was able to speak with a live person. Danica took my information and told me she will text her boss and get back with me in about 15 to 20 minutes. I was thinking "15 to 20 minutes... we shall see!" I wasn't hold any high hope but surely she called me back in less than 15 minutes and said her boss Sean will be coming TODAY!!! WHAT?!?! Really?? I told her I'll be home after 1pm and since this is a Condo please have Sean call me so I will go downstairs to open the door for him rather than fumbling with the entry phone system. Sean called me at 1:30pm, he is here!! Within 25 minutes he diagnosed the problem, fixed it and my furnace works again in less than an hour!! Zack and Chris showed up on time. They had masks. They asked what the problem was and got to work diagnosing it. They found the issue and fixed it. They explained what was wrong and gave recommendations on keeping our system functional because it's old. They were nice and easy to talk to and didn't seem to rush the fix. We had a pretty dangerous venting issue with our heater and Sean came out right away to employ a short-term fix that made it safe until he could come back a few days later to install the permanent solution. Our 17 year old air conditioner stopped cooling the house. I called Bay Area Service and the next day Zack arrived promptly at 9:30 am. Zack quickly assessed the problem and had the air conditioner working again! Later that same day the compressor quit working altogether due to an unrelated problem. One call and Zack returned to the house. He did a through inspection of the compressor and found an old loose connection which he repaired at no further cost to me. It amazes me how knowledgeable they are with all of our equipment that is restaurant related . They basically fix everything from A to Z when it comes to electrical and gas operated equipment . Sean came in and inspected my unit and he said I can simply use my exiting duct and furnace (my furnace was only a couple of years old) and add on the AC system! Bay Area Service was brought in by our contractor to do work on our AC unit. The guy showed up late, didn't have the parts needed to do the work and then had to come back later. After nagging him to complete the job, he finally got it done. Unfortunately, he never billed us (and we didn't realize it at the time since we thought we had paid our general contractor for the work.) A year later, we received a bill in the mail. They were unresponsive when we attempted to discuss the bill. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Last August 2016, I was in the Hickory Pit restaurant in Walnut Creek complaining to a manager acquaintance about my AC woes and how nice it was to be someplace where the AC was working. The manager said, "Why don't you try the company that handles our AC," and he gave me the name Sean Mergy, owner of the Bay Area Service Company. The AC company that I used the prior month to figure out why my AC wasn't working charged me over $600 to put refrigerant in, then when it leaked, told me there was a bad valve and it was near impossible to replace, so that's when the pitch for the pricey new AC system began. I was wary of a valve that couldn't be fixed. So, I had Sean come over. He was so easy to deal with, and didn't mind if I stuck by his side, and he explained what he was doing. There was no mystery here, and that was refreshing! In short order, he showed me that the leak was due simply to the prior technician failing to tighten several valves that were easily accessible outside the AC unit!!! What? I thought there was a leak inside the unit in a valve that was virtually impossible to repair. Not so, just a big fat lie. I watched Sean tighten the valves, then adjust them a bit, then put in 2 pounds of refrigerant. While we waited, I told him how the other company replaced the capacitor with something other than the OEM capacitor. Sean said it was ok but cheap and not as good as the OEM capacitor. At that point, I pulled out the OEM capacitor that I had ordered from Amazon, and he installed it. After all the refrigerant was installed, Sean used a sniffer tool to check the entire line from our furnace to the AC unit, and inside the furnace coils. Very thorough!!! ALL OF THIS, including the refrigerant, for a total of $241.74. I'm writing at this time because my unit failed to come on yesterday and I called Sean to make an appointment. He mentioned it sounded like it could be a power issue. So, I checked the power panel, then the fuse box by the AC unit. I took the fuses to Ace Hardware and one of them was bad. I replaced the fuses and everything is working just fine. I called Sean to offer some payment for guiding me but he refused. I can't say enough good things about Sean Mergy and his Bay Area Service Company. I'm so used to being ripped off by my former AC company that I'm speechless. read more
