I came here a couple of years ago and just had soup - the Portuguese Kale - and thought it was delicious. Also tried the clam chowder and it was very thick and quite good. Was here for dinner earlier this week with 3 others and only had shrimp cocktail (since I wasn't terribly hungry due to a larger lunch). Others at the table had salad with grilled salmon, salad with grilled chicken and the strip steak dinner . Oh - and a couple of different soups - french onion and clam chowder. I had a spoonful of the clam chowder and it was as good as I remembered from a couple of years ago. Very thick with lots of clams and potatoes. French onion soup got good reviews. According to the others: salads were good, steak wasn't great and the salmon was a bit overcooked. Server was very nice - a young man that was attentive and kept my water glass filled. We had a few adult beverages as well but nothing crazy. So, a decent experience...not off the charts amazing but OK. read more

We have been coming to Bayside Betsy's for years and years. It was always very good with great service, until last night. We were unaware that there are new owners and management at Bayside Besty's. Let's start with the friendly but incredibly slow and obviously still in training staff. We were very patient and polite even commenting on how tough placing orders on tablets must be to learn. The food took a long time for a slow night with only a few tables being occupied. I had asked for no onions on my salad, but they were there in a giant pile, and neither of us received any salad dressing on our salads. They never came back to ask if we needed anything, which we did, and also never refilled our water glasses, which were empty within a few minutes of our being seated. We asked for the check after they cleared out plates, and that took another 15 minutes to receive it. Very disappointed, and I sure hope they get trained fast, the season is almost here and summer folks are not that patient. read more

Started coming here in 2008. Was always just amazing food and service. Well, the food is still great but service has tanked bad! I fully understand that Provincetown in general is having a hard time finding help, but DAMN! Don't seat guests if they are going to wait just to even get a water and coffee. Breakfast was good. My husband and I recently ate lunch here. I had the fish sandwich. Remember that commercial - "Were's the Beef?" Well, I say "Where's the Fish?" This is without a doubt the smallest fish sandwich I have ever gotten. I could barely see the fish in the lettuce and tomato. It took a long time to be noticed by someone to get seating, a long time for ordering, and a long time for the check, which I had to get up and ask for. All the servers seemed to think someone else was going to help us. I didn't get a coffee I ordered and they still tried to charge me for it. Skip this place. We asked for a table outside and was told it was for 6. We were 4. We sat inside at a small table. 5 minutes later they sat four at the table we asked for. Vegan option on the menu but no soy or almond milk for your coffee. Service was terrible. Food was very bland. So many great places to eat in PTown sadly this certainly isn't one of them. read more

The business plan and customer service structure needs work. While I understand a team effort, one server should be primarily responsible for the individual guest experience. I feel you are doing both your business and servers a disservice. This restaurant used to be fairly busy all the time. I'm assuming that your customers find the business model that you're using to be not the most beneficial and productive as a customer standpoint. read more

Rudest hostess I've ever encountered. I've been here before and was hoping to get breakfast. However the hostess was too preoccupied sitting down and looking at a phone to even greet us. I asked for a seat outside and she said it would take 25 minutes. So I asked to be put on the list and she got very irritated and inaudibly mumbled "we don't take reservations". When I pointed out the very obvious list of names in front of her she said that was for dinner (this was before 11 am). Also it's very obvious to most people that reservations and a wait list are two different things. I understand these are difficult times but the restaurant was empty inside. There was no one else trying to get a table. Will not be going back here if this is how the business thinks it's ok to treat you at the door. read more

Every year we go to Provincetown. Always looking forward to a fantastic meal at Bayside Betsy's. Such a disappointment this year. Service was horrible. Food was mediocre. Portions were much smaller than the last time we were there. Waited a good 15 mins just to order drinks. Ordered food and had to ask for our drinks when food came. I do realize that there is a staffing problem, but, this was just a horrible experience. We'll have to find another go to place when we head out to PTown next time. read more

I did takeout from Bayside Betsy's but was not thrilled about my experience. My husband ordered the Portuguese omelet and it came with 2 bun slices, a fried egg, and a slice of the meat. It looked just like a breakfast sandwich. In short, it didn't appear like an omelet and didn't have some of the ingredients mentioned on the description (i.e. caramelized onions). They also forgot the potatoes with the order. I brought it back to the restaurant to show, and was told that this was in fact the Portuguese omelet. Although they then provided me the potatoes, the service was brusque and didn't make for a great start to my morning. I was also told that they don't do coffee for takeout and I should instead go to a nearby coffee shop. I just got the impression they didn't care much at least for my experience there. It looks like others have had a good experience here though so I wouldn't discount it here but I was not thrilled. read more

The second we walked in we were greeted with a huge smile and a warm welcome. The restaurant was fairly busy but we were able to snag a window seat overlooking the harbor. Our server Jessica was great. She was attentive and knew the drink menu well. We ordered a bloody and blood orange mimosas and they were delicious. We all ordered lunch sandwiches and Jessica reassured us that our options were good. Jessica was friendly and inviting. Made the kickoff to a birthday weekend celebration great! Burger, pulled pork and swordfish sandwich were all great choices for the incredible affordable price. read more

Overall the view of the bay and the food are good. Outside of that, the wait time is atrocious. My dad and I arrived and were seated around 10am we were served water immediately and it was 30 minutes before we able to get coffee and another 20 minutes to get food that was ordered when coffee was ordered. The food tasted good. My dad wanted a grilled English muffin and got a toasted English muffin. I ordered bacon with my french toast and got that about 15 minutes after I got my food. The only saving grace for this place is the waiter we had who was nice and attentive otherwise I would have given a 1 or 2 star rating. Unfortunately I will not return to this place again. There are other places even when busy that do better than this place. read more

Please do not eat here if you have any pre-existing conditions that make you susceptible with regards to COVID-19. The food is fine, the view is spectacular, and public health guidelines are not being followed. Multiple members of the staff had their mask pulled down. Our server came up to the table with his mask covering his mouth but not his nose. We saw him do the same thing with another table even when we had first asked him to keep his nose covered, and then asked for another server. The host at the front had his mask completely around his chin. Presumably, he would cover up when a guest arrived from the front, but that didn't reduce risk for guests who have to walk by him from behind to exit the establishment. The behaviors were egregious enough that we contacted the Provincetown Department of Public Health. read more

I made a reservation for a party of 10 on a Thursday evening. My family came up from New York for cabaret fest in PTown and we haven't seen each other for a while so I thought it'd be nice to find a spot that would let us all sit together. Upon our arrival, they told us that it is "against" the town regulations to push tables together for this large party. We asked "why didn't you let us know upon making a reservation or give us a call and let us know that you are unable to push the tables together"? They told us they would change and let people know next time. How was that our problem first of all. Secondly, they saw a large reservation coming in two or three days prior, shouldn't they take, perhaps 2 mins of out of their very busy restaurants, and call us and let us know that they couldn't accommodate it? It's rather disappointing as we ended up going to the restaurant next door. One of the lady who helped us told us that they never heard of such rules before and we ended up being accommodated there. Just thought that Bayside Betsy could have had our $1000 tap easily that evening, instead they chose not to. How they spoke to us did not make us feel welcome there at all. I know they probably will not care about this review but I hope people who read this do. read more

*UPDATE* My dining companion that received the practically raw pork chop is still MIA on this vacation (we are sharing the same vacation house) because he is still in bed and unable to move, he is that sick. Coincidence? ________________________________________________ It has taken me a while to write this review... Why? Because I have been trying to digest my experience here with my five dining companions and getting their non-yelping (I am working on that part) input into our visit there. I have also been mulling it over to decide if I am being too harsh and what the rating should be. The verdict? They may talk a good game, but this place is basically a tourist trap that doesn't care if it sees a guest again or not as long as they get their money, and 1 star. Now let me defend my position, although they should, in all reality be defending theirs. We needed a place that we could get into quickly and also minimize travel (partly due to medical issues within the group). We tried many places and Bayside Betsy's said they could take us in immediately. Fast forward slightly more than a half an hour later, we are finally getting seated. The table we were seated at was small and cramped. The service, although friendly was slow and very sub-par. They also charge an $8.00 sharing fee, which I think is rather tacky considering there was only on couple in the group sharing, and they even ordered an additional soup. Some of the food was decent, and some was really good. One major issue was that one of the pork chop entrees was practically raw. when it was sent back, it magically came back extra well done, and this was a very thick pork chop. The even worse problem was that this was accomplished in approximately 2 minutes from removing it from the table to returning it to the table. Can you spell M-I-C-R-O-W-A-V-E? If only the service was that quick... The even crazier thing about this place is the bathroom... good thing I didn't need to sit, the sink is literally is over the toilet... you can was your hands even while tinkling... at least it took less movement. It was hot and humid...85 degrees...and walking along Commercial Street doesn't offer much shade. The breezes were few and far between, so when the host screamed....we are fully air conditioned, we thought, why not? I had the turkey club and the partner had the open face steak sandwich. Both came with fries. The ice tea was strong and freshly brewed. The service was friendly and attentive. But the best part was the AC. We took our time since it was nice and cool inside. Both sands were good. My triple decker was too big for my mouth, I could barely wrap my lips around it. LOL! He: Nice big umbrella. We got an "iffy" start to our breakfast because the place was severely understaffed. We almost left because there was no one to seat us. It seemed like one lone server (very nice man, didn't get his name) was running the floor by himself. He managed to find a way to spend more-than-enough time with us, and he chatted about all kinds of topics. Talk about grace under pressure. That guy was great. The "most unique" thing about the whole experience is when I went to visit the restroom after our meal. It seems they were "space-challenged" during the floor planning phase of the restaurant. The sink was placed directly over the potty, and I'm tall, so I had to duck when I sat down to avoid hitting my head! (see my two photos). Let me preface this review by saying that I will be back to give them a second chance. We had a terrible experience, and I am chocking it up to the fact that they were understaffed, and overcrowded. They were not prepared for the winter rush just before the town shuts down for the season and I guess they're in a high-traffic area, so it's no wonder that they (being one of only 6 restaurants that were open for lunch on NYE) were out of everything. BUT, I wasn't told that they were out of what I had ordered until after we had eaten our appetizer and my boyfriend had his main course. This is unacceptable, as we had ordered almost an hour prior to this. My soup was ice cold and when I finally received my main course (almost an hour later), my boyfriend was finished with his entire meal. I can't blame our server--who seemed extremely stressed out, because it's not his fault, but the entire experience was less than enjoyable. I'll be back when the season picks up and I'll try it again. read more

I have been vacationing in Provincetown since I was a child. Few years ago, found this place...great atsmosphere and food. Sold it to many of my friends of family. However, this past weekend was beyond disappoitning. The "manager" took my name and number, told us we would be seated the moment we got back. My family walked around for an hour (my dad is sick with Cancer by the way). We came back and while the "manager" downed a glass of Rose - another employee sat a group of 4 men before us (they did not have a reservation). I politely asked the "manager" what the problem was (I have worked in hospitality for years and know how this works) and he yelled at me in front of other patrons...which is unbelieveably disturbing. We proceeded to leave and he followed us out. He then decided to call me slurrs and told me I would never be allowed back...then screaming to my Father saying "she's out of line". I can tell you I was absolutely upset with the situation, but I would never curse at anybody in public, ever. Making the decision to go to another restaurant was the best decision I could have ever made. If being out of line when you wait patiently with a sick father for an hour in the hot sun is "out of line"...well then, I guess that was "out of line". I am embarrassed for this restaurant and the way this situation was handled. There are PLENTY of amazing restaraunts in Provincetown with amazing food, views and staff. I would advise to choose dining elsewhere. WILL NEVER GO BACK. read more

After arriving into Ptown, we ventured into town for lunch. We stumbled across this restaurant and decided it would be a good choice for lunch. My friend and partner had the lobster roll, while I had the grilled chicken breast sandwich. When our dishes came out, I asked for Dijon mustard. The server very snotty said ok and brought back the mustard with some sort of attitude. Not very becoming for a server. The chicken breast was dry and even the mustard could not save it from taste. I ate probably 3/4 of it and could not stomach anymore. This was not the introduction to Provincetown that I expected. With a bitchy waiter....come on? It's carnival be merry. read more

Dropped in for lunch while doing the Commercial St. walking tour of P-town. Our Bulgarian host that seated us was suave and accommodating. Our waiter, Matthew in a word was "EFFERVESCENT!!" Unfortunately the food did not match the quality of the service. Lobster roll overpriced and just ok. Drinks were just ok and a bit pricy. Nice view, but there are many restaurants to choose from in Provincetown. I will endeavor to see another next time read more
