Coming from Chicago, I've been to New York several times but never had the pizza. (Always calzones!) Due to the big rivalry, I decided to try this place in the neighborhood where we're staying. The slices are large, triangular, and reminded me of some of our places at home. But that's where it stops. The slices behind the glass didn't look very appealing so I asked if they had any Italian sausage. The guy who waited on me said he could take the slices of cheese and add sausage to them and put them in the oven. So we did that and when my daughter and I saw the slices, we weren't sure what to think. The meat was big chunks, some round and some looked shredded, like gyro meat. It had a funny/different taste too, not at all like the good Italian sausage we're used to. They filled us up for the time being, but i'm glad i didn't buy a whole pizza. It just wasn't very good. See the picture for my 1/2 eaten slice. On a more positive note, they have a good variety of other dishes. Salads, pastas, misc. Italian. I would try something else next time.

Indeed the tastiest slice of cheese pizza in Bay Ridge! In fact, it's my favorite slice in all of NYC because of the deliciousness and the price! I haven't tried anything else here yet but the regular cheese slice is SO GOOD. The cheese were stringy and just the perfect amount of saltiness. They were generous with the amount of tomato sauce. I'm drooling as I'm writing this. It's a thin crust pizza but the crust is not as thin as those in Manhattan pizzerias. The ones in Manhattan are literally a ripe off as their pizzas are paper thin now. But here at Bay Ridge pizza, I'm reminded of the pizzas that I used to have as a kid. They kept the traditional recipe! They also use an oil on their pizza, I'm not sure the name of the oil, but it makes the pizza tastes and smells so good! I have no complaints about the service. It's a pizzeria. They're fast, honest, and clean. One time, the staff there even brought my slice to my table. I've been to several pizzerias throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan, and to me, Bay Ridge pizza lives up to their awards. They are indeed the best pizza in Brooklyn and maybe even Manhattan! They only charge $3.25 a slice!

I've never had bad food from Bay Ridge Pizza and the staff had always been efficient, friendly, and polite. The sauce on the pies I ordered were flavorful and there was plenty of cheese. The serving of pepperoni on the cauliflower pizza was generous. The crusts on both pies were thin and crispy and supported the toppings well.

I ordered the eggplant panini and there was only on slice of eggplant cut in half in there. Another time I ordered a hero which is double the price same issue one slice of eggplant on each side. I have been a customer for 20 years and it was never like this. I called and complained and the girl on the phone just said I will let the cook know. Like put enough food, otherwise it is just eating bread. Not happy anymore and portions suck.

You say you are the best pizza in Brooklyn? I think there are several pizzerias in Brooklyn that would like to have a word or two to say about that one. But by no means is it a bad slice. The slices are big, but they are literally pale slices. Not sure if it is the weather, or the fact the dough is under proofed, but seeing this was not something I appreciated. The sauce and cheese combine for an interesting flavor. It reminded me of pizza I would eat at birthday parties. I feel as a whole this pizzeria is the kind of pizzeria little league baseball teams go to at the conclusion of the season. The interior screams that. For $6, you get what you pay for, mediocrity without too many compromises. However, to say you are the best pizza in Brooklyn (yes, I saw the awards) is not a compromise to the slice, but rather overstating something that I feel needs to be worked on. Ask Luigi's in Park Slope, who has a much more superior slice. Or ask Paulie Gee's in Greenpoint, who also has a more superior slice.

    Happy Thanksgiving

This pizzeria is one of the best and has been the best two years since in a Row !!!! The original Owner has retired and the place still keeps up the higher standards of the original owner.... I am pleased to say it's just as Delicious as once was and the staff is always friendly and the remaining owner who still working without his partner now enjoying retirement ....

We came for dinner today and got lucky because the Sunday only special (Chicken Parm) was available so we ordered that and I decided to switch up my usual to the Spaghetti. My boyfriend loved the Chicken Parm and it comes on top of Vodka Pappardelle which was also delicious and the Spaghetti wasn't too heavy even though it was cream based. I wish they sold the Vodka pasta separately as an entree because I would order that as an entree on my next visit. Another fabulous dinner at Ammazzacaffe!

The sunchokes and apples are tossed in a creamy and slightly herbal dressing. Burrata - really great. The eggplant base is richly spiced and tart to complement the rich and creamy burrata. Gemelli - disappointing, and the only vegetarian option. The goat cheese totally overwhelms the dish, so you can't taste the pesto at all. The texture on the noodles was perfect at least. Passion project - delicious drink with notes of passion fruit, chocolate, and some spices. The others in my group also had the duck (which they found to be a bit overly loaded with duck fat) and the reginette (which they enjoyed). I'd love to see a more balanced vegetarian main course make it on the menu sometime. The bill for 4 people came to nearly $230 after tax and tip.

The room is small and romantic, homemade pasta hangs in the front window, and the whole evening felt less like dining out and more like being invited into someone's family table in Florence. We started with the fritto misto, a well executed mix of fried fish and vegetables, alongside an insalata caprese that let fresh tomatoes, burrata and basil speak for themselves. From there we went family style, which is really the only way to do it here. The bucatini cacio e pepe was as much performance as dish, mixed tableside directly in the cheese wheel. The fusilloni di Gragnano from Puglia paired scampi with burrata, cherry tomatoes and arugula for a bright, briny plate, while the tagliatelle verdi brought a rich wild boar ragu finished with fresh black truffle. The two standouts, though, were the agnolotti ossobuco with veal sauce and pecorino fondue rounded out with thyme and lemon, and the lasagna Bolognese. That lasagna, layered with meat ragu, tomato and bechamel, may be the best I have ever had. We paired the meal with a bottle of Salvioni 2022 Rosso di Montalcino, aromatic and beautifully matched to the food. The space is cozy and intimate rather than sprawling, so a reservation is a smart call. Everything else, from the food to the atmosphere to the sense that someone's nonna was cooking just for us, made this one of the most memorable meals in NYC. We would return without hesitation.

Note: reservations are not required but definitely suggested!! This place was packed. Every table sat, but a few chairs at the bar. I give this place 5 stars, EVERYTHING was lovely! I ordered the Portia cocktail... if you like Mezcal, you should definitely try this one. We then dove into the rib-eye (for 2) DELICIOUS ! One of the best steaks outside of a steakhouse I have had. The marbling gave it great flavor, salted well and the perfect char on the outside, it was accompanied by French fries and broccolini. All a great addition; The broccolini was surprisingly not too bitter which was nice. To round it off we ordered their version of a Lemon tart! It was the perfect level of sweet and tart! Oh the old school thrill of an old school beauty of an establishment like Bamonte's!…read more I just love this place so much! I can't say enough great things about the decor the ambience and imagining all of the past goings on in this restaurant. It's been watching over Brooklyn for well over 100 years now! That in itself is a Herculean feat! From what I was told it was very popular with the mob as they say... And that's why the kitchen which is at the very back of the restaurant has full glass windows so that you can see exactly what's going on in there. I guess some of these mob guys were paranoid and rightly so consider considering their history. I arrived with my friend on a Wednesday evening about 6 PM and there were some scattered tables but by 7 PM it was mobbed (pun intended ) in there!! our waiter was affable and patient and a quite enjoyable fellow. As a sidenote, you will not find any female servers they are all male which l lends to the old school vibe in my opinion. My friend ordered the lamb chops with broccoli Rabe. He enjoyed them but did mention that though they had great flavor one of them was slightly tough... It happens... My meal was pasta with Bolognese sauce with a dollop of fresh ricotta on top. It was delicious actually the sauce was excellent. I would've liked to have a different pasta shape but they did not have it. No biggie. I could really say the food was very good but it was not excellent but for me that was not an issue as I fell in love with the place itself. The service was excellent and the ambience was fantastic! I would definitely return again and I highly recommend it if you have never been you must at least go one time!!

Rating: 3.5/5 I…read morediscovered this restaurant on Instagram as one of the top Italian restaurants in NYC, so I decided to try it. It appeared to be family-owned in Williamsburg and consistently drew a large crowd throughout the day and night. Upon entering, I noticed the restaurant was keen to maximize seating, with diners placed very close to one another. The restaurant appeared to have a very old-school vibe; maybe that was the theme they were going for? The food ordered was: 1. Calamari - They weren't overly fried or coated with breading. Tender, and not rough. Flavorful enough; no sauce was needed (although it was included). A good appetizer. 2. Rigatoni with vodka sauce - Maybe it's my taste buds, but I thought the sauce lacked seasoning and flavor overall. The pasta was cooked well (al dente), but the lack of flavor from the sauce ruined the dish. I was really excited about this dish! 3. Cavatelli with Bolognese Sauce - I've had bolognese sauce before, & this dish was just weird. It felt like they just did it within 5 minutes of cooking time, & it was something you could've just made at home yourself with a jar of Prego sauce. It also lacked seasoning. 4. Chicken Parmigiana - I'm a huge chicken parmigiana fan, and I feel like it's always a must if you eat at any Italian restaurant. This dish was well seasoned, not overly fried, not heavily covered with cheese, and smothered in a good amount of sauce. The chicken wasn't dry either; it was tender. Weird part was it was served with a side of string beans & potatoes, not pasta. This was one of the best dishes of the night. 5. Chicken Marsala - Just like the chicken parmigiana, the chicken was tender & wasn't dry. It's easy to overcook chicken becoming dry, but the two chicken dishes weren't. Very flavorful & a good amount of mushrooms added for garnish. Same with the chicken parm, string beans & potato's as a side and not pasta. 6. Linguine with White Clam Sauce - I'm allergic to shellfish, so I did not try this dish, but my table said it was good. Overall, I thought the food would've been better. The pricing to food portion ratio did not correlate. It's a little on the pricey side for the amount of food you'd get, but maybe it's because of the rent since it is Williamsburg? Another thing, just like another reviewer mentioned, I felt my table was rushed out the door. We weren't even finished eating and we could feel they were eyeing the table (I was with a large party). The waiter who served my table, whose name I didn't catch, was friendly and polite though. Anyways, this is my take on this restaurant. Maybe this is how old school Italian restaurants are supposed to be & in terms of food too. Tip: Reservation recommended for dining in
