In a word: ABYSMAL Hopefully, I will never have to use them again. The customer service was terrible. I would have to call four and five times to get through to the service department. I never got through. I would have to call sales and ask them to transfer me. The service was equally disappointing. I came there with a faulty DCM. The first time I bought it in, they disconnected the DCM from the satellite. Two weeks later my battery died again. I brought it back and was told by a very rude and impatient customer service person that the problem was fixed. That the problem was a disconnected wire or something and I could pick up the car. When I went to pick up the car, I met a very nice but uninformed (I'm being polite here) customer service representative sho said that they were ordering another DCM for me but she didn't know why I was told that I could pick up the car. I had to take the car to drive to a new job in Chicago. If I was told that the car was not ready I would have made other plans. I had no choice but to take the car which she said was "fine." The car would run. I realized about a half hour later that my backup camera was disconnected and noticed wires hanging from the drivers side. I made it to Chicago somehow and took up to another Subaru dealer who told me that the DCM was indeed bad and that they disconnected a bunch of stuff when disconnecting the bad DCM. They are replacing the DCM and correcting all the problems Bay Ridge Subaru created. (SEE ATTACHED PHOTO) The Subaru mechanic in Chicago said the wiring inside was a "hot mess." A manager at BayRidge texted me a survey. I sent her the above letter and she NEVER RESPONDED to my concerns. She ghosted me after I followed up on email and text. So after you get crappy service don't expect anyone in management to give a damn. You have been warned! STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS! read more

I called them on a Saturday to schedule a test drive for the WRX the next day and even made an appointment. I showed up on Sunday at the scheduled time and still had to wait around 30 minutes for someone to help me. When talking with the sales person, they told me that test drives could not be given without a manager's approval. I understand that because it is a stick shift car. I'd give zero stars, but it's not an option. I had a weird situation where I was leaving town but needed my car worked on. Marc Brown was my liaison and seemed so nice and helpful at first. I made special arrangements for a family member, who was relying on the car while I was away, to pick it up when it was done. I left the country with Marc's quote that the car would be done on a Tuesday, about 4-5 days after I had dropped it off. Sure. Fast forward to when I'm on the other side of the world, I wrote to see how the car was driving and how things went - turns out the car was still in the shop, no call, no nothing. I wrote to Marc Brown to see what was up. Suddenly it will be TWO EXTRA WEEKS until the car is ready. Would I have gotten it serviced there had I known that? obviously not. Someone was relying on the vehicle to get to work. So, almost 3 weeks later (and a bill half the price of the car's value), it's not even done being fixed, still smells like burning ?? and it now makes a new weird noise. Fast forward to when I am back in New York. I called back to see what was up with weird noises and smells, got Marc Brown, asked to speak to someone else because I was so done with him. He told me his manager would call me back because he was in a meeting. That was over a week ago. On their timeline, I guess I'll expect a call in mid summer. I'll head to Jersey next time I want Subaru to service my car. Easier than dealing with Bay Ridge. Bottom line: only go here if you want them to keep your car hostage when people are relying on it, charge you a ton of money, and not even finish the job. read more

Did a good job on the warranty service. But the tech driver could of went easy with the clutch. Their tech stalled the car and revved to 3k and rode the clutch until he got pass the hill. Same thing reversing when he was parking. Have a dash cam proof. Clutch probably burned a bit but i guess they gotta rust out their skill somewhere. Overall one of their tech is not comfortable with manual car after stalling it and riding the clutch. Other than that warranty service was done properly. I really wish I could've been that obnoxious customer, perhaps that would've helped avoid the bitterness I felt this late afternoon. Customer parking entrance blocked by one of their cars. Street parking instead. Walked in through the entrance on the right. No greetings whatsoever. The crosstrek sitting to the left of the showroom immediately caught my eye. An old-middle age man sits at the desk right next to crosstrek on the phone interrupted my line of sight while still holding the phone on one ear. In his thick Brooklyn Italian accent, he began his rampage using his condescending tone of how that's a crosstrek and how this is the used car lot. We politely asked about the trim of the specific, but he continued rambling about the model, I finally asked with the simplest form of question I know to car salesmanship: is this the limited? At the new cars showroom things weren't much better. The 2017 crosstrek was stunning and I really would like to have a chat to find out more. There were about 3 groups of clients in the room but two salesperson in total, both of which exchanged eye contact with us but refuse to even acknowledge us and continued their business with their customers at hand. We walked back to the other showroom to find the older gentleman finally off the phone now. I inquired about a test drive, and he was nice enough to reply: "you can call 1121 to see if they can put you in". He clarified that it's the extension to reach the scheduling for test drives. Asked about other used cars on premise and he directed us to the back parking lot but in his exact words, he doesn't even know what's back there. I am baffled by this whole experience as a whole. 1. Customers are requested to call their extension to schedule a test drive, while salespersons kick back in their seats. Think again. I ain't paying for your kids college tuition with that kind of service 2. No greetings whatsoever. The audacity of them to exchange eye contacts with me and stare blankly at me waiting for me to approach. Wtf. 3. The building is just not pleasant to be in as a whole. Everything appears antiquated in what my fiancé considers to look like a rundown auto repair shop. 4. How are you, the used car salesman not aware of your own inventory of cars. Bought my 2011 Forester from here in November of 2015. Purchasing process was a breeze. SERVICING IS A COMPLETE RIP OFF. I had loyally gone to them to service my car, since purchasing it from them. This June, I was emailed I was up for an 18 month servicing. OK, I scheduled it almost immediately. Brought my car in, was charged 250 dollars for a tire rotation and pretty much nothing else. They mentioned some things would need to be addressed in a few months but nothing major. BARELY A MONTH LATER... I realized my car was making weird noises. I brought it to an outside mechanic, someone my family has used for years!, who told me I need $700 worth of service because my rotors were rusted, my break pads needed to be replaced and essential engine belt needed to be replaced as well. WTF. I get it 250 is their "standard" price for whatever bullshit inspection they do at 18 months but they should have been able to tell me these MAJOR problems with my car, especially considering brake inspection is apparently included according to the Subaru Service Menu. To say the least I am PISSED. Subaru of Bay Ridge does not care about their client, clearly. Such a split on the review.... Leased my Subaru on 5/27/11... The sales experience was excellent and would definitely go back just so I could work with the low pressure sales of Peter Marconi. If this review was just based on the sales experience, I would give a 4 star review as they refused to haggle on the price of the lease. Now for the service...all I can say is Uffa!! I initially went for a first oil change and was in and out in about two hours which is perfectly acceptable to me considering they do not take appointments for maintenance. I received two letters in the mail from Subaru about recalls a couple months later; one was for the moonroof and the second was for the windshield wiper motor. Made the appointment for a few few weeks later as that was when I had off on a Saturday and I know the dealer isn't in the best location. We had the freak snow storm in October 2011 and my wipers quit working. I called the dealer and they said sorry we close at so and so time; make it if you can. I somehow drove home from Staten Island to Brooklyn (where I lived at the time) and a usual 20 minute drive took me two hours. I go to the dealer on Monday morning bright and early and I tell the initial person who is doing the inspection of my car what was wrong and he laughed at me. They have me wait 45 minutes before calling me from the waiting room. I speak to the advisor (short guy with glasses; don't remember his name) and next thing I know they accuse me of breaking the wipers. I explained their was a recall and showed them the letter; they didn't seem to care. I asked to speak to the supervisor (Steve) and show him the letter and he goes we'll fix it for you this one time since you got the car from this dealer. I agreed but demanded a loaner vehicle as my car would have to sit there over night until the part arrived on the next day. Livid, aggravated, and frustrated for the way I was spoken to, I called Subaru Corporate when I got home and lodged a complaint against the dealership. Corporate told me there was an open recall and it should have been fixed regardless where I got the car. I go back Monday evening to pick up my car and barely say two words to the dealership and my car wasn't even washed. A week later I get my "courtesy call" from some girl and I explain what happened. She is in disbelief and says a manager will contact me by the end of the day. Steve, the service supervisor, calls me saying I should have explained how I was spoken and how upset I was. I told him it was inexcusable and I filed a complaint with Corporate. I could tell he was upset from the tone in his voice and kept reiterating that I shouldn't have called Corporate. I told him too little too late. We hung up and I have never returned to the dealership. If you want to get a Subaru serviced, take it to Staten Island Subaru. They were excellent, didn't give the hard sell for the "dealer maintenance plan" and my car was washed free of charge when it was returned to me after 2.5 hours. This is my third Subaru and I was very disappointed in this specific dealer and unfortunately, it has left a sour taste in my mouth in regards to the company. read more

Don't know what to make of my visit here. Was scheduled for a test drive of a vehicle. On reaching, gentleman named Joseph Teti let me know that they don't let customers test drive manual transmission WRX's and let it slip that 'they don't let joy rides'. He said he would let me test drive the automatic if I'm seriously interested in it. I wasn't but was quite upset that after taking a subway to get to he place, all I got was a snarky' 'it's a Subaru, they drive great, but no test drives'. I've been looking for a Subaru Outback for a little over 1 year. I've been to several dealerships. I lost out on 2 good deals due to timing with work. Found this Outback on Cargurus. My sales rep was Joseph Teti. The entire experience was wonderful. Stress free, no garbage sales techniques, no hidden fees...Quick background on me... I was ready. I've done lots of sales in the past in different industries. I also sold cars for about 1 year. Plus the journey dealing with all the car sales guys from the past year. I was ready. So I went to this dealership, Saw the vehicle. It was packed in about 7 cars deep. Joe was kind enough to move all the cars so I can test drive it. I loved it. Pulled the trigger. Said I can pick it up anytime during the week. A few days later I came back and sat with their Manager Roy. He was easy to work with too. Offered me a warranty and a few options but I didn't need any of that. It was all hassle free. I gave a check and boom they gave me the keys. We leased a Subaru with Patricia @ Bay Ridge Subaru back in March-- this letter is certainly long overdue but we just wanted everyone to know how impressed we were with the customer relations aspect of our relationship. Patricia could not do enough for us. Specifically, she was diligent in keeping us informed of the progress, and ALWAYS returned our telephone calls. Patricia was funny, courteous, respectful, and VERY - VERY understanding (we were worried that we might not get the new Subaru in time as Patricia promised-- at the time our current leased Honda had to be returned around the same time the new Subaru would be delivered). However, Patricia made it happen, and as promised, it was on time and she even took our old Honda and had it returned to the dealer. The day we went to pick it up, she spent over an hour going over every feature in our new car including setting up both our Bluetooth. If we didn't have to return to work she would have spent more time with us, she would not let us leave until she was certain we were satisfied and even followed up with phone calls weeks and months later, to make sure we were still satisfied. Patricia is rare as they come and a true professional. I will always refer others to her and will definitely be back ourselves-- can't imagine doing business with anyone else. read more

How ya doing? Senior Management is lackadaisical to say the least, and ambivalent. My car was held ( DELAYED ) up from being picked up due to a faulty dot matrix printer. I was told the printer was down, and without a new d.matrix my vehicle would be tied to the lot. This incompetent action resulted loss of vacation time with my loved ones. No form of compensation or sincere apologies were offered regarding my 6 day delay of receiving my leased vehicle. You lost a long term customer. Their service department has cracked lead paint in the front drive through the service entrance. Just a bit of a health hazard. Additionally my car was not prepped properly. The exterior was not thoroughly cleaned. The drivers side floor mat was dirty. And now the best part. When picking up my vehicle. They parked it across the street underneath a tree allowing bird dropping's to adorn my new car. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! How in the heck can I trust this dealership??? I'm not out here to get "revenge" upon my poor relationship with this dealership. I only wish to warn potential customers to stay away from this specific dealership. Buyer beware. I feel weird giving a car dealer a 5-star rating. It makes me feel like I must be missing something. Surely they're trying to screw me and I just haven't noticed yet - right? Maybe, or maybe I'm just lucky. Or maybe they're actually decent folk. Whatever the case may be, my experience with Bay Ridge Subaru has been pretty much delightful so far, so they've earned it from this customer. I ordered my STi from Patricia last February. The pricing was uneventful and lined up almost too easily with what my research suggested a good price would be. The STis have a habit of being on back order and Patricia was more than willing to humour me calling all to often to see if she'd heard anything. I financed it through them because they gave me a good enough rate. Working with her was always pleasant and she seemed to genuinely share my excitement about my car. If I were to choose to get another Subaru, I'd definitely seek to work with Patricia again. I've been back their for my oil changes, when I managed to almost knock the rear bumper off, 7500 mile service, and getting winter wheels/tires put on the car. Every time my experience with the service center has been straightforward. They've answered my questions, been clear about the costs of things, let me know pretty plainly what's been up with the car. I'll admit, nothing has gone really wrong with the car (thankfully) so it's not like there's been much of a chance for service shenanigans, but my experiences this far leave me more than comfortable enough to go back there in the event of more serious work. We bought a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle from salesman Anthony Grippo in early 2017. When we got home we realized that the car lacked floor mats (which we overlooked while at the dealership). I called Anthony about two or three times to request the floor mats, thinking this is small potatoes to a dealership. Each time, Anthony promised to get them to me. It never happened. Worse yet, about a month later, during a rainy day, I realized that the car's rear window wiper was not working, and confirmed with an independent mechanic that it would cost a few hundred to replace the parts. I wrote to Michael Chiusano (General Sales Manager) and Anthony Grippo, noting that something like this should not have happened on a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle that is supposed to pass through a series of multi-point tests. What happened? I never heard back. Now I'm getting calls from the dealership asking me to bring the vehicle in for periodic service. Guess what? They'll never hear back. read more

After about 10 minutes of looking around alone, we asked an employee if someone could help us. He said someone will be with us, but after an additional 15 minutes of waiting, we walked out. Again, we were set on buying a car and after trying to get help for 25 minutes, we left with the promise to never ever go there again. Maybe every single employee was waiting for a customer with an appointment (although most were just sitting at their desks with no customers) or maybe we look too young to make an actual car purchase, I don't know. Absolutely terrible experience. What a joke. Parts have to be ordered ahead of time and phone payments are not accepted. Fine, I'll take an extra 2 hours of my own time to prepay for parts. Took the car to get a door fixed so the mirror could sit flush after an incident. The work is not done in house its sub contracted to a sub par body shop. They charge double what Geico quoted me for the damage, because of this discrepancy I had to wait for an an adjuster to come out who denied my supplement for additional costs. I was not informed by Bay Ridge Subaru who okayed the work. After checking in myself two or three days after the adjuster had come out I was told everything was fine and I was to pick my car the following week. One of the service reps tells me my car will be ready Tuesday morning. I show up Tuesday morning and my car is not finished. I wait around for an hour and a half just to find out my paper work with the insurance company isn't squared away despite what I had been told in previous conversations on the phone. After some arguing on the phone with Geico and Bay Ridge Subaru I find out I have to pay an extra 266.00 outside of my deductible of 500.00. Get the car back just to find out the $1,100 gap between the mirror and door is still there. Fantastic way to run a business Bay Ridge Subaru. read more

On the same day we scheduled test drive appointments with BR Toyota and BR Subaru. At Toyota we had a case of a bad salesman had to walk out. We expected the same thing at Subaru. At Subaru we test drove a Forester and an Outback. Our salesman, Joe Teti, took the time and let us drive the car as long as we needed to get a good idea how the cars feel on the road. He answered all our questions, and we had a ton of them, about the car and financing options. There was no pressure or disrespect at any point. He was upfront with everything, so we put a deposit on a Forester. Mike C. from the financial office went over the numbers so everything was clear. There were no surprises at the signing. Everything was exactly as it was explained by Joe. I, honestly have to say that we got Subaru because of Joe Teti. He was able to break that bad car salesman stereotype that we had in our mind before coming here. If you need a car, I would highly recommend to visit BR Subaru. They will treat you well.
