Not bad. My husband was craving Cajun, not something our boys and I really care for, but we decided to give it a shot for his sake. Youngsters ordered chicken tenders and shrimp baskets which they really enjoyed. I ordered BBQ and potato salad. The potato salad wasn't very good but the BBQ had a good flavor. Chelsea was awesome! She is the only reason we might come back. It is a great place if you want to have some beers, hang out and don't have any time limits. We came in with about an hour and a half for dinner before we had to leave. We ordered a beer and an appetizer which was delicious. We had to wait an hour before finally giving up on our actual dinner order and asking for our check so we could leave to make it on time to our scheduled event. It was not overly crowded and we observed the interactions of the other staff with the customers. We were not impressed with their lackadaisical attitudes. Chelsea, again, was great! They need to clone her and hire all her clones and then this place would get 5 stars. read more

I ordered a Reuben. It was delicious they made it a triple stack where literally it was like Reuben three Reuben's of what you typically get in a "normal" Restaurant. It was a decent price too as I only paid 7.99 and I got sandwich and fries, not bad for a restaurant that is in a heavy tourist area and could charge whatever they want. My wife and I were drawn in by the sounds of classic rock-n-roll coming off the porch. Entered in and the band was blasting away some Stephen Stills tunes. The beer was cold, and even though the place was packed and noisy, the service was fast and friendly. Great atmosphere, fun waitstaff, amazing food. We had a wonderful time for my friends birthday. The food was prompt, the waitress was very attentive, had a great attitude and the bartender was a hoot! It's a little compacted on the inside, as it is a smaller restaurant but it didn't seem to be an issue. I read some of the reviews and just realize you can't please everyone all of the time. I went there with my teenage twins and you know how hard it is to please teenagers. But we really enjoyed our meals. The burgers were huge and my son actually had to take half of it home. The crab cake was delicious and the bartender/waiter was very pleasant and efficient. We will continue to go there. In fact My birthday is Wednesday and that is where my girlfriends and I are going to celebrate. If you are visiting you have to go to The Bayou Café!!! read more

We were vacationing in the Savannah area and had a taste for a good shrimp po-boy sandwich. Yelp provided the menu. So we stopped in for lunch on April 1st. We sat in the bar area. We ordered a shrimp po-boy and a bowl of crab corn chowder. Both menu items were excellent choices. The server, Jordan, made sure our order was complete. Ok, so this has a dive bar look and feel to it...but DO NOT let that deter you from entering this place. The service was great and the food was excellent!! I ordered the flounder & fries (fish & chips) - great price point and amazingly delicious!! The fish was seasoned to perfection and the house made hot sauce paired well with it - but so did the tartar sauce! I didn't order a drink with my meal, but my mom did and she was definitely pleased with what she ordered. Overall, I would say DEFINITELY give this place a try because the food as well as the service was really great! After searching for some Cajun/seafood we decided to come to Bayou Cafe. We came in about 6:30 before the bar crowd. Me and my wife shared the alligator for an app and she got the chicken salad and I got the shrimp P.O.- boy. Everything was good until my wife started to put on her salad dressing. There was some kind of bug/fly smushed in her lettuce. After we showed the waitress she did make another salad but didn't offer to take it off of the check or anything. Ate dinner here on a summer weeknight. Approx 8 tables inside and 3 outside. Only one waitress, one bartender and one cook. Food was fine, atmosphere was amusing but wait was LOOOOONG!!! We were about to walk out without food when our order finally showed up 1 hour after ordering. At 45 minutes I asked the waitress, she checked and said 5 more minutes, at 10 minutes I went to the kitchen and offered to help if it would get us something to eat. Best food and drink prices I found anywhere along the water front. Kinda funky, but decent food and a full bar. It's on the second floor of an old building, and has an "upstairs" 3rd floor place to hang out as well. Pretty good seafood chowder and jambalaya. Totally cool and hot waitress! Good live music! I've been to many restaurants thoughout savannah and I've never had anything quite like the Bayou. Although it's a small place the food is absolutely amazing. The first time I went, I had the Entree Sampler which included the Etoufee, Jambalaya and Gumbo and it was amazing! I thought I wouldn't like it, but it was great. I've gone there multiple times and my favorites are: the Jamabalaya, Crab chowder and BBQ sandwhich. If you go there you MUST at least try a cup of the Jambalaya I cannot tell you how good it is! They also have this special where you can buy a pitcher of beer and a pound of peel and eat shrimp for like 17 bucks. It's GREATT! The shrimp is THE best I've had down south. The food is cheap and the service is great. They also are equipped with their own signature hot sauce (which you can buy) and it's fantastic! If you want flavorful food go here! read more

Our family made a special trip to Savanna GA to experience all that Savanna has to offer. After an interesting Trolley tour of the city we decided to experience the local fare. We landed at the Bayou Cafe. The menu looked great! That's all that was great our experience quickly regressed to what was the worst restaurant experience of my life. after waiting 55 minutes for our soup it was delivered cold YUK. My bro. In law never received his order after asking our server several times our party of 4 Waited 65 minutes and we still never got our Entree what we did get was cold. The atmosphere is awful the bathrooms are dirty the soap dispensers were made up of old ketchup bottles with pink dish detergent. This place should be closed down it's disgusting. The waitress was rude and not attentive at all she should be fired. She was the only server we saw waiting on 7 or 8 tables. She said they only had one cook. Don't go here. My family ate there yesterday. My daughter had the jambalaya and was terribly sick within the hour, and my son who had a taste of it had a stomachache. The rest of the food seemed okay. Bathrooms are very dirty so no wonder the staff may have contaminated the food somehow, either that or poor food storage. Who knows.
