Guys, ladies.... If you find yourself in Savannah. I can't recommend any place more than here. It is cozy, quiet and the staff is super friendly and attentive. I'm here now celebrating my 33rd birthday. I got in town early. I came here two days ago and I got a taste of the gator tails (more to follow on those) and the low country broil. The experience was so good that I decided to bring 16 friends and family with me. I'm here right now and Mr. Rick is taking care of everyone flawlessly. Not one complaint from anyone. This is authentic Cajun food. The seafood has a fresh taste but it is well seasoned. They also have s custom hot sauce. Last thing: I've traveled to Florida and Louisiana. The atmosphere of this place is really great. They also have a great music choice which isn't to bad when you're having a meal. The Cajun & Creole selection is great and me being born and raised in Louisiana I always look for places like this. The only down side I have is the red beans & the pound crawfish. I didn't really enjoy how hard and non seasoned the red beans were. They tasted as if they were made in a hurry not really boiled long enough. MUST GO PLACE. BEST SERVICE EVER IN LIFE!! SWEETEST SERVER (don't know if she is the owner as well, her name was Kimberly). My friend and I were visiting Savannah when we were looking for vegetarian options for my friend. We went to check if this place would be willing to customize a dish to make it vegetarian and I wanted the chicken shrimp burrito without the shrimp. Not only they customized our dishes, Kimberly suggested some veggie additions in my friend's dish tgat made it even more delicious AND... without us even asking for it, Kimberly cut down the price of my dish by half!!! (because shrimp was removed). Coming to the food.. it was THE MOST FLAVORFUL SOUTHERN FOOD we both have had in the longest time. THIS IS MY MUST GO TO PLACE EVERY TIME I VISIT SAVANNAH NOW! We went here as per a suggestion from the desk clerk at our hotel. The food was amazing!!! It's like they kidnapped a true new Orleans resident and put them in the kitchen. My friends and I visited this cafe in the middle of the afternoon and found it very understaffed, overpriced, and unsatisfactory. I would love to say I had an amazing authentic "Savannah" dining experience but alas I cannot. The restaurant was dirty, like cobwebs and dust bunny dirty. The waiter was super sweet but when I asked for a salad to go with my crab roll and I was met with a flat out "no". I was expecting a "yes" or "sure for an additional cost"...but a flat out "no"? Rude. Anyway, the crab roll had shells in it and everyone else ordered shrimp and grits and said they were nothing to write home about. The food here is okay but bar service is by far the worst I've ever had. There were only five people in the place when we came in and it still took the bartender 15 minutes to acknowledge us, since he was too busy trying to impress the two skanks that came in right after we did. Getting refills was ridiculous- 30 frickin' minutes for some water?! Are you kidding me? We had a large group of friends join us and they fared even worse as far as having to sit for 20 minutes before their orders were taken. The staff here doesn't even try. The staff didn't really seem to care about anyone having a great experience they take being laid back to a whole other level. Wow. Where to start. In town for conference, came in to a friendly waitress in this cozy place. She was nice enough but we are party of 6 waited over an hour.for.our food and one person's veggies were ice cold. So shall we start with a drunk customer who ate out of our plate or the crazy guy with the cat on a leash who not only was allowed to enter the restaurant but lept on our table browsing for food. Last debacle was waitress was auctioning off receipts which were incorrect. You would think we were drunk and imagining all this. Nope. Never again! read more

Well, the stuff here is pretty nice, but to be honest, they have really bad memory. We ordered a dozon raw oysters, then she totally forgot this. Otherwise, the food is not so fresh as i expected. Came out for my birthday this past weekend and was looking for somewhere to grab a bite to eat. We stopped in one bar that recommended this place. My boyfriend sat at the bar while I went to use the restroom, when I came back I asked if he had ordered yet and he said no. There were 2 people behind the bar and it was not busy. Someone came and sat next to us and the bartender looked at me, then my boyfriend, then asked the other guy who just sat down what he wanted. Very rude, I will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone. read more

I'm not sure what a country boil is supposed to be but I always thought it was a giant mix of everything, boiled together in one pot. This was not. This was separated, crab, shrimp, potatoes and sausage all organized which makes me think, were these cooked separate throughout the day and reheated for me? Not what I was expecting but maybe I was misled as to what I was ordering but it was not great. Very bland, no real flavor. I gave this 2 stars because the beer was somewhat cheap. After leaving Spanky's disappointed and still hungry, we ventured back to this place that caught my eye on our walk up and down Bay St. It was nearly 10pm, but the bartender upstairs assured us the kitchen was still open. We ordered shrimp scampi, and a mahi mahi sandwich with fries. The portion sizes were great. The shrimp scampi was super garlicky and YUMMY. We ordered it with pasta, but got rice. That was the only bad thing about it. The sauce was delish, the cornbread was so good - my sister didn't even let me try it. The mahi mahi sandwich was a little overcooked, but the fries had great seasoning, as did the sandwich. While we waited for our food there was fabulous live music in the bar downstairs. Ended up in this little spot on a food tour we did in the city. Not some place I would have just walked in, but I'll be back. We had a small sampling and tried the owners homemade hot sauce and it was incredible. I'm not a hot sauce person but we bought 2 bottles. The sangria was fresh and delish. read more

This review is for the live music and the bourbon. We heard a fine rock band at this music venue/dive bar. The bourbon was fine (as it always is, to me). We had a nice table close to the stage. This venue is on the 2nd floor of an OLD historic building on the corner of River Street and is reached by climbing a somewhat steep outdoor staircase alongside the building. The staircase is right along the steep cobblestone hill that descends from Bay Street down to River Street. One can either drive down the hill (and park inexpensively in the lot right across the street) or descend by foot down a steep historic staircase. Or one can take the elevator at the Hyatt Regency and walk a few blocks down River Street. I chuckled when I noticed the slick flat-screen TV mounted on what looked like the 200-year-old brick wall of the building interior. I ignored the fact that some of the other patrons looked like rednecks; we were all there to have fun and enjoy the wonderful live music. read more

Cool atmosphere from a pub perspective, not a huge selection but good beers on tap. The real find was the Cajun Entree Sampler Platter......best ever. Unique spices and flavors...hands down the alligator gumbo was amazing! Seafood gumbo and etoufee was a close second. If you want authentic bayou fare this should be a requirement in Savannah. Huge bonus.....they have a full kitchen well after everyone else has closed you can get a phenomenal meal and drinks! Great live music too! read more

I had the Cajun buritto, my boyfriend had seafood gumbo, and my mother had red beans and rice. We were all happy with our choices. My boyfriend grew up in the south and having a good gumbo was on his list of things to do during our trip. My buritto was a combo of red beans and rice on the inside, and covered in gumbo, different, but tasty. The building was extemly old and needed some updating (I don't want to know what the kitchen looked like) but the staff was friendly. Our drinks were good and the price was right for the touristy river walk. If I lived closer I would return, but next time I'll try something with a better ambiance. read more

Our last night in Savannah we had made some friends and wanting to grab a bite and some drinks we happened upon this magical little place with views of the water, live classic rock and blues, great service and even better food. I had jambalaya and the Mrs. had a seafood platter. The atmosphere was awesome! A solid two!!! Food was ok but nothing to return for. I was expecting Cajun because it was "in the south" but they did not even try well. Cajun food in New York might be better because they would try harder. Service was like a two and a half. It was Ok but a little to casual for treating a paying customer.
