When I arrived, there was nobody at the maitre'd stand so I just got in line like the other two parties ahead of me. I quickly figured things out and made my order of the fried Fish and Shrimp platter with cajun fries. I just came from the gym so I was pretty hungry. The food came out piping hot and it was simply delicious. The food was fried/cooked perfectly with no excess oil. Portion wise, I feel that I got good value for my money. There were so many things on the menu that I wanted to try but I guess I'll have to visit again!

With regard to food, I think they have a decent (not expansive) selection of food, which I think lends itself to quality. They do most things really well. This said, I do think there is inconsistency based on staff at the restaurant. On one occasion they have accommodated a request, and on another I was denied the exact same request. I found this frustrating. On one occasion I've also seen management talk down to staff here, which is a big no no for me. All people (especially staff) are due respect and this rubbed me the wrong way. This was an isolated incident but it definitely made my dining experience uncomfortable. Especially because I was getting excellent service from the server!!! I've always had quality service from servers here. In the future, I would come to Rhett for convenience as a hotel guest (the hotel is lovely), but would likely not spend my money if I wasn't staying at the hotel. Overall- it's good food, decent ambiance... but there are soooo many good options in Savannah. You have to be exceptional to stand out in that city.

It was so, so good. Every part of the plate worked beautifully together, and it was exactly the kind of Southern meal I was hoping to have while in Savannah. The service was fantastic, and throughout the evening we heard beautiful live music from some amazing singers. Paired with the Reisling Kabinett, while the Pinot Noir Argyle went well with the Ravioli. For dessert I had the Pecan Basket. The vanilla with fruit in a pecan weave held the whole dessert together. The raspberry peach sorbet was delicate and sweet. Both desserts hit the spot along with the coffee to finish up the night. The light, tables, paintings and decorations were perfect for a romantic evening with your special someone or dinner with the family to celebrate a special occasion. Whatever the case, this visit capped a great weekend in Savannah and Tybee.

I finally stopped in after dinner hours around 7pm on Friday. Since it was date night we ordered the raw tower, which comes stacked with everything under the sun: oysters, shrimp, snow crab, lobster and mussels. I also ordered scallops and asked if it could be prepared without butter because of my dairy allergy. The kitchen has no problem making them with olive oil instead. Super delicious! I enjoyed it so much that I came back the following weekend with friends. I made reservations online during happy hour (4-6pm) and we were lucky enough to be seated in the small back dining room tucked away behind the bar. Our server was wonderful and very attentive, and I especially appreciated that she actually paid attention to the allergy notes I included with my reservations. Of course we all ordered a dozen oysters each because they're $1 during happy hour and who can beat that? I ordered the scallops again because I liked them so much the first time, and around the table we had a mixture of lobster, mussels, dressed oysters, turtle cheesecake, finishing everything off with espresso martinis. Hands down delicious. The service was top-tier too. Our server never hovered, but somehow always checked on us at just the right time and made sure we had everything we needed. Two great visits so far and I'll absolutely be back to try more of the menu.

A dive is rite, but not the dive your thinking of. More like a dive into a garbage of crap for food wise. Entertainment come in. Thomas Claxton is one of the best performers in the Savannah area. As far as food & service the food I rather buy something frozen from the grocery store because that's what your going to get when you eat here. The food is premade & frozen so you mite be getting something from a month ago. Yes nothing is fresh all seafood is previously frozen. If you do eat here, well ask for Doug. The best cook they have. Carlson is just as good even though he did get fired for drinking & smoking weed on the job (not wearing a hat, no gloves & bad hygiene at times & leaving the kitchen like a pig sty.) now he's back. Watch out for cross contamination(salmonella) That's because there isn't a kitchen manager.(lack of management)Jordan thinks he is but doesn't have any management responsibility.(doesn't do the food order, schedule or even have his serve safe certificate.) Doug, he's the best cook at the Bayou. Also note to self if it's busy don't bother ordering food. It is a ONE man kitchen. Yes ONE person is cooks ,preps, wash dishes for the entire dinning area & bar per shift. There is a new cook there now Aubrey. Hopefully he'll put back the dive in this landfill of crap of a restaurant. They do have a 93 on there inspection, but don't let that fool you. Bottom line if your desperate & starving than eat with caution. Look in the kitchen even before you think about eating here. Service. WHAT SERVICE. The only service there is the Bar or Kelly if she working. Don't waste your time. Go to McDonalds & eat. Bottom line- a bunch of minimum wage pot heads & alcoholics cook in the kitchen I did get food sick eating there. If your not trying the food, your missing out! Lots of flavor and a variety of selections to choose from. The Low Country Boil is my favorite. All food is freshly made to order.. The Bayou hot sauce is also a great addition to any entree. I am a local and visit the bayou often for a great tasting meal with a friendly staff. Don't believe every bad comment you hear... Lived in Savannah for over 25years ....have passed this place walking down River Street several times even actually walked in one late evening to listen to the live band. Only tasted their good food for the first time from the Food Truck in our neighborhood due to the pandemic. Decided this evening to go try the restaurant for food in person the husband and I. Don't go to this place unless you want to be treated rudely or basically just want to get sloppy drunk. Wouldn't know what the food is like. 21 and up at 8 pm so we had to leave with our daughter. The waitperson was terribly rude in the process. All I can guess is the food sucks if all you do is drink there. They must be on probation for something, or they must be struggling to stay in business. read more
