I'm so happy that there's a BB.Q chicken here in Houston now! I've tried this franchise in New York and absolutely loved it. They're currently only doing take out and they do offer hand sanitizer when you walk in. Their to go boxes are so innovate and helps keep the chicken crispy and not soggy because there's so many little holes for the steam to escape through. Their garlic soy flavor is so good. Crispy, lots of flavor, and juicy. My boyfriend got the BB wings and regretted because it's kind of plain compared to saucy wings. It's also not as crispy either for some reason. Waffle fries were alright, I probably wouldn't order again. They also had tteokbokki and sausage on a stick which was on the special menu. I didn't see it online, but there was a sign for it when I walked in. I decided to add that to my order as well since I made the order via phone call. This dish exceeded my expectation and dare I say probably the best tteokbokki I've had so far. I do wish this place wasn't all the way up in Katy but in Chinatown or someplace closer to where I live, but it was worth the trip to treat myself to some good korean fried chicken. P.S. make sure to call ahead! Takes about 20 minutes to make. Also, if you're wanting to eat your food right away you can go to Kim's Tea house next door and bring outside food in. Ordered soy garlic and honey garlic wings here for pickup. Each order was about $14 for nine wings. We ordered via the phone and were told it would be about 30 mins so we took our time coming. There was a long line for pickup upon arrival but they quickly processed everyone and we were out quickly. The food was still super crispy by the time we arrive home about 20 mins after pickup. We couldn't tell the flavors apart though, but liked them both. They menus online did not tell is how many wings were in the medium packs and we didn't research it to find out. (Also forgot to ask when ordering.) I would suggest ordering more for hungrier people. Some wings were big but most were standard-to-smaller sized wings. The cost-per-wing for size makes this food more of a pricier night out for fried chicken, but the crisp is real, so if that's your main picks, this is pretty good. read more

I ordered 2 medium size wings in 2 different flavors. The prices are on the higher side. 18 wings were $26 and a side of sweet potato fries was $6. The wings come with a side of pickled radish which was great! Galbi (4.5/5)- This is a new flavor that's not on the actual menu. I would definitely recommend trying this out! This was a unique flavor to have on wings. It's on the sweet/tangy side. The chicken was crunchy and moist. Soy Garlic (2/5)- The waitress recommended this flavor to us, so I was excited to try it. Today I decided to take a drive around the city for lunch. I was a little undecided until I looked through my Yelp app of places I have booked marked. Looking through I saw BB.Q Chicken. I remember distinctly why I bookmarked them. They actually were one of the food vendors participating at the Filipino festival in Sugar Land. I never got a chance to try it but I kept them as a reference for later. I decided to take the drive out to Katy to finally try the food. The food was really good. I decided to order two things: cheese tteok bokki and soy garlic boneless wings lunch special. When the tteok bokki came out it was a good sized portion covered with cheese. My first bite of it and was addicted. The amount of rice and fish cake were even and chewy, the sauce is that nice orange color, and on top of that the cheese really complimented the spiciness. The chicken was great too. The amount for the lunch special is enough to be filling, the chicken has that nice double fry crunch, the size of the pieces are nice, and the soy garlic sauce was not overpowering the chicken. The girl who was working the register and serving the food was very nice. As well as the manager too, he checked up on me every once in a while back and forth from the kitchen. My overall experience for the visit: I might have to say BB.Q Chicken might be tied with another Korean fried chicken place I like as well. Not much of a downside, but for me: I am not local to the Katy area so it is a little trip to go here. But I can overlook that factor because I would drive for good food. I would like to come back to try other items on the menu in the future. *Not about my experience but what I saw while I was eating* I see a lady and her small daughter come into the restaurant to use the restroom. I thought to myself, "Ok so she's going to buy something after." No, she walks past my table, the register, and out the door. That stuff gets on my nerve since I used to work in restaurants before. The spot is incredible!!! I fell in love with chicken again thanks to bbq chicken Katy ! The chickens are made with fresh ingredients and 100% extra virgin oil creating a unique fresh flavor and a clean after taste like no other chicken ! As I walked in, I noticed how clean the restaurant was and the unique decoration on each side of the wall . On one side was pictures of chicken and the other side a black wall on the preparation of the chickens . Pretty cool . The lovely waiter welcomed me in . The two owners were also very welcoming! Chatted about the restaurant and meals . How crispy the chicken were ! They did not fail me ! The chicken came out fresh, hot and crispy ! One of the best I have ever had ! This is hard for a foodie like me to say. Hands down delicious I tried both the boneless chicken and wings - almost all the items on the menu ! I've tried a few BBQ chicken places and didn't know what to expect. I called myself having low expectations but I'll be damned... This exceeded everything. The service and the taste were excellent! I brought a friend with me as we enjoy trying new restaurants on Sunday Funday. We didn't know exactly what to order so our server(i forget her name but she's a doll) recommended a little bit of everything. We started with the Tteok Bokki. It was a bit spicy for me and I didn't care for the texture, but my friend tore it up! I used the sauce from this dish on my Original Chicken. We don't waste food :-) Next cane the Original Olive Chicken and Secret Spicy which we got as boneless wings. Out of these two the Secret Spicy was our favorite! I'm a huge fan of sweet spicy sauces. It had the perfect balance if both and not too saucy. It coated the wing perfectly! Our waiter also suggested trying it with radishes which added a little tang and helped balance the acidity of our food. Then came the Cheesling and Gang-Jeong boneless wings. I have to admit that I'm not a fan of Cheese and chicken but wow! I'm low key embarrassed at how I scarfed them down. I almost had to fight my friend over the last Gang-Jeong wing, but since I'm a lady, he finally gave in. Lastly, we're the Soy and Honey wings. My favorite of these were the Soy. Winner winner chicken dinner! We were craving some Korean fried chicken and my friend drove all the way out here to pick up and deliver some chicken into downtown Houston. Considering that the drive was at least 30 minutes, the chicken was still pretty hot and fresh by the time we started eating it. We got the original golden olive, the secret spicy, honey garlic, gangnam, and cheesling wings. My two favorites flavors were the honey garlic and the cheesling wings. (No particulars on why they're my favorites. They're just preferred flavors.) All the wings were honestly really good. The batter on the outside was still really crispy and you could hear the crunch as you take a bite into it. The wings had just enough sauce so that you could get some flavor into each bite, but not too much where the wings are just drowning. The cost of the chicken may seem pricey, but it has the same price range as other Korean fried chicken places. I'm not sure if I have been in quarantine for too long, but hands down one of the best places I have had in a while. When you're indecisive or cannot figure out what you have a taste for, their chicken wings will hit the spot. We havent tried everything on the menu, but we've been happy with everything we have. We prefer take-out & this place never fails us: but its always packed full of dine-in eaters. Unlike other takeout options, the chicken stays crispy while you get it home (the vented box prevents sweating) From the very first bite, you get the crunchy, glazed flavor of the saucy chicken and you just cant stop eating the waffle fries. Yum. The cost is higher than most, so it's a treat yourself kind of place, but if you have a little cash to spare, try it. I avoid reviewing my favorite places, because I hate when they get so packed, I have to wait on my order. And, I really wanted to keep it to myself, but this small franchise deserves your business. Warning: it can be addicting My in-laws told me their fried chicken is the closest texture like in Korea. I came here for lunch to eat with a friend. The next day I was craving for more. If you love eating hoodak, it's going to be a tough one for you to decide, but it seems the big hoodak fans prefer their flavors not bbq chicken. Sizing: Medium: good for 1-2 ppl (plenty for one person to me) Large: food for 2-3 ppl If you want to try multiple flavors, I recommend ordering medium size. BEST WAFFLES FRIES!! Flavors: For the wings: Honey garlic (my favorite, got my family hooked) Soy garlic (it was eh to me, I think Honey garlic still wins for me, but my family liked it too) Gangnam: This does not come out crispy, the texture is different because of the sauce. This one is good to eat with rice. Not sure how to explain the flavor but it's reminds me of a home cooked braised meat dish. BB.Q Chicken is one of my favorite Korean fried chicken places! We ordered several different items from the menu - soy garlic and gong-jeong boneless, gangnam style wings, fries, and corn salad. The chicken was super juicy and the outside was nice and crispy. The breading on the outside was not super thick so the ratio of breading to chicken was lovely. The soy garlic was probably my favorite but I also enjoyed the gang-jeong because it was pretty sweet. In between flavors, we would have some of the radish since it was a great palate cleanser. The fries were crispy and had a sprinkling of parmesan on top which we really enjoyed. And the corn salad tasted just like potato salad but with corn so it was nice and refreshing. The only downside to this place in my opinion is that it can be a bit pricey, but taking into account the quality of the food and great service, it is well worth it. read more

This steaming, freshly deep fried chicken with extra crispy skin, perfect seasoning, and juices gushing from the meat scored a full 5 out of 5 with me until I bit deeper into the meat at the bone. For some odd reason, there was a funny taste and odor that immediately made me stop chewing. It almost reminds me of bathroom cleaning chemicals, mixed with a metallic kind of taste - hard to describe it in words. And this wasn't just me as the gf also picked up on this odor after a few bites. At first we thought maybe the chicken was still a bit raw, but the meat was white to the bone when we stripped it all the way down. Then, to double check that we didn't both have some sort of disease with our taste buds, we spotted one or two other Yelp reviews complaining about the same odd taste, both of which claimed the source as old olive oil. After some quick Google research, sure enough, musty and metallic tastes are characteristics of bad/old olive oil. We couldn't even work our way through the half chicken we ordered. If they ever get rid of this weird taste that soaked its way into the meat (maybe change their oil more often??), then I would probably find myself making the drive out to Katy every week. #227 read more

This franchise location of the popular BB.Q Chicken does very well in combining customer experience (as my orders have never been wrong) and overall taste of their chicken and chicken wings are tops. Flavors like the Gangham Style and Soy/Garlic are two of my favorites. Some opportunities include having better sides. Favorite sides like the waffle fries almost always come out soggy. I simply avoid the sides and stick with the chicken as they carry the menu. To this point I know skip wing places like Wing Stop and Buffalo Wild Wings to partake in these Korean style fried chicken which does not disappoint. read more

My family and I have dined in a few times before, and I ordered from here as takeout this evening so I feel I can give a complete review. These are probably my favorite wings in the area. When dining in, the wings come to your table hot and crispy. Hot as in wait a few minutes before you take a bite, hot. We have had a few of the flavors like Gangnam, cheese, and my husband has had a few of the spicy ones. They really deliver as far as flavor. Their service is also excellent when dining in. Very patient when we order and always smiling and pleasant. This evening I ordered the Gangnam wings to pickup. My order was packed nicely and they provided plenty of napkins, a fork and chopsticks. The box was vented, I'm assuming to keep the crispness. Unfortunately my wings got a little soggy on my 15 minute drive home. Nonetheless the flavor was still great. So I do recommend dining in. I came here to eat with my family and we each had a different order. My mother went with one of the mild spice chicken flavors it was just the right amount of spice for any newbies to the spice game. My father went with a 3 chile spice chicken flavor, which was just about my peak level for comfortable spiciness. My brother went with the original chicken flavor and it was a good standard for any battered chicken. I, myself, tried the soy garlic chicken and was delighted to taste such good flavoring. This location has a smaller interior than the other location I visited, but nonetheless, the food quality remains high. I feel that the Katy branch, which started out as the first in Houston, have dropped the ball when it comes to keeping up with the BB.Q franchise quality. $100 worth of chicken was ordered over the weekend. All of which were bone dry, sorry little pieces of chicken with more breading than the meat. Sauce was tossed with very little care, barely coating the surfaces. For what BB.Q charge for a Large Chicken ($23~$24), it no where close to how it was made when the Katy branch first opened.
