Definitely worth the 40 minute drive. It was Sunday and BB's closes at 2 and we got there about 12:30ish. There was a line which I expected but it moved quickly. It didn't hurt that great old school music (NY classic old school) was playing while we waited. It was hot as Hades that day and we could have sat outside but opted to wait for a table inside (while still jamming to the beats). Our waitress that sat us was lovely, personable and just a joy. Now there was the nephew of the owner that we reminisced with about the BX and that did it for us. We were in love with this spot and the people. We didn't even have a glass of water yet. Then the bagel came. Perfectly toasted sesame bagel with butter...heaven! I had the corned beef (house made) that was perfectly seasoned and delish, scrambled eggs and home fries. Forget Einstein bagels, this is the bagel place to go. Their bagels are fat and tasty. They look so fat, one can fill you up. Also, they look and taste like they're bad for you. I'm sure they are. The bagels here are the best I've had outside of New York City! I'm sorry every other bagel place I ever left positive reviews about, you have all been dethroned. They don't have the crazy wild flavors, like spinach and artichoke with unicorn tears, but that doesn't matter, their plain bagels make all the other places fancy bagels look bad. Yes, it's busy as F, yes the rest of the food is just ok, yes there are quaisai political statements everywhere which a liberal northerner may be a bit put off by, but who cares. Good bagels. WORST service I have experienced in Atlanta EVER! Was literally yelled at while attempting to place my order, which almost led to my leaving right then. Then, while getting even more attitude at the cash register, I asked to purchase a can of Diet Coke rather than buy a fountain drink and was told, "No, buy a fountain drink." When I walked to the fridge and pointed to the cans, I was told, "No, we don't have cans," when the cans were clearly visible in the fridge. Several staff rudely got involved in the "discussion" and one of them said, "Let me tell you something. These are only for backups." Regardless of whether they wanted to sell us a can or a fountain drink, the extreme lack of customer service, and the fact they got our order wrong on top of it all, guarantees we will never be back. I would eat here all the time if my family wasn't pissed off every single time we wait for 30-40 minutes for a table only to find out they are out of grits. And before you judge me, I have a family of 5, we go here for the variety that pleases all pallets. I know it's a NY bagel place but they are still in the Deep South. Grits cost like $4 a bag, which is about how much I spend on 2 bagels in this place. Unfortunately, I'm the only one who likes bagels like that in my house. Definitely a 5 star bagel! I got the toasted sesame bagel with lox spread, and it was delicious. I would've gone for the lox and bagel platter, but didn't feel like spending the $11.50, so this was the next best thing. The bagel flavor and texture is what you'd expect of a great bagel. My favorite spot for bagels in Atlanta. To me nothing quite compares. They used to have a location in Johns Creek off State Bridge Road but it is long gone. For some reason it didn't do well despite constantly being packed (to my memory). Also, wouldn't call the address Alpharetta- I guess it *technically* is, but I absolutely consider the location to be in Cumming. Anyway, these are the best bagels- huge, kettle boiled, and with the best texture ever. They also sell great schmears to accompany, and have sandwiches and other things you can order as well, although I only care about the bagels. The restaurant is housed in an old-school shiny chrome building. They have a takeout window so that you don't need to go in if you're just ordering some bagels to go home with. The line is looooong. You can also dine in. Parking is a bit cramped, and I've definitely parked at the adjacent industrial building next door before. They do tend to run out of bagel flavors on weekends the later it gets in the day. For instance, I would not expect them to have the full selection at noon on a Saturday. As opposed to some other bagel shops around Atlanta, I would /not/ call this one kosher/Jewish style. Nonetheless, if the bagels are your main attraction, I believe this is the winner of the city. read more

I am and have been a big fan of BB's Bagels for about a year now. I have been to both locations, but living in Cumming, I have now been going only to the location on McFarland. Being from NJ/NY area, its hard to find good bread products in the south, especially bagels. Their bagels are easily the best in the Atlanta area, and I am ashamed to say, they may be better than many of the joints left in my hometown in NJ. Many of the places in NJ are going to the dunkin donuts, pre-made style. At BB's they make them by hand the right way, the way it should be. The bagels are huge, and they use good quality cream cheese. I also love the fact that I can get Pork Roll (Taylor Ham), which is near impossible to find down here in the south. Food is good. The service was terrible, slow and inattentive. 3 of 4 of us had meals with coffee, the 4th had sweet tea and a bagel sandwich. I asked for coffee, and the waitress filled only 1 of our 3 empty cups. Tomatoes were forgotten from one of the orders. And finally to top it off, the waitress comes to our table and ask verbatim, "Are you guys going to be longer? Because there is a line out the door." A food service should be able to gage what kind of meal a person is having. This was a business lunch. Jersey Shore (Exit 98 if you want to be a dick about it). I still have family up there, so I am up there a few times a year. One thing I miss about NJ are good bagels, and decent diners. BB's covers both! These are by far the best bagels I have had in the 10 years that I have been in Atlanta. They have your standard bagels (plain, pumpernickel, cinnamon raisin, egg, sesame, salt, onion, everything) and all of your standard cream cheese flavors. In addition, they have some specialty bagels (French Toast, vegetable, cheddar, etc) for the more adventurous. The vegetable cream cheese is excellent! It's not Temp Tee with Knor vegetable soup mix. Diner fare is damn swell as well! I had a ham & cheese omelet with rye toast for lunch today. They even have Taylor ham, egg, and cheese sandwiches! If you want breakfast on a weekend, get there early or be prepared to wait. I drove by on Sunday afternoon and cars were parked on the grass and a lot of people were waiting out front. Finally authentic boiled bagels in Atlanta! My first visit to this place took me back to my childhood, where I was raised on authentic NY fare. Anna and her folks are absolutely awesome. Keep in mind this place is truly an authentic NY diner, so dont expect to be babied with the service. Read the rules of the diner! Food was exceptional and authentic. The bagels and OMG the macaroni salad. FIrst time Ive had real NY al dente macaroni salad in the south. Yum! They also make bialys on the weekends even though its not on the menu. Love the selection of spreads, fish, and entrees that round out this breakfast / lunch diner. If you're missing a taste of your NYC home, make this a regular stop. I've heard these are the best bagels in the Atlanta "area". This place is actually in Alpharetta which took me over 2 years to actually get myself to drive OTP. But I had to meet a business associate in the area anyway so coming here worked out. I'm from NY/NJ, I expected a regular bagel shop. You know the kind that just has bagels, maybe some breakfast sandwiches and maybe 3 or 4 tables. Well this place is actually a restaurant. It reminded me actually of a NJ/NY diner. I ordered Smoked salmon platter which came with choice of bagel which I choose everything. There bagels are really big, much bigger than Einstein bagel which is not really a good comparison. I also feel the bagels were bigger than the typical NY bagel. The smoke salmon was on top of the bagel and a good amount, they are heavy with the cream cheese which is typical in NY. I had to remove some cream cheese off because it was too much for me. They also serve it with sliced onion, tomato, and a ramikin filled with capers...love capers! I liked that they put it on the side opposed to on top of the salmon how other places usually do it, because capers usually roll off when you try to eat them. If you have them on the side, you can just move over the salmon and lay the capers on cream cheese then put the salmon back on top of the cream cheese and capers. Yes the bagels are really good! However I don't know if I'd drive 40 minutes to get there anytime soon. I did buy a dozen bagels to bring back home. However it was already 11:30 am by the time I got to the counter and most of the bagels were sold out. The flavors left were not what I usually get but I bought some anyway. If and when I go back, I'll make sure to go early to make sure I get the flavors I really want. read more

Great teeth- are needed when you bite into one of their bagels.. The bagel I received was a bit burnt. I ordered 2 French toast and a cranberry. If you are ready to give your mouth an amazing workout, grab one of these bagels! As far as service- I give it 3 star, because I was not offered the option to have my bagel heated. I didn't even know that was a possibility until, my eye caught the toaster oven with someone's bagel rolling out. By then, I was pretty much on my way out the door.
