I stumbled across this spot on Yelp, and let me just say I wish I hadn't. This is by far the worst place and should be avoided. We walked in, and there were only two other people eating. There were no workers in sight, so we seated ourselves. After about 5-7 minutes, still no one came, and at this point, we were about to leave, which I wish we had. But a young girl probably the daughter of the owner eventually came out to help and seemed annoyed when she handed us the menu. As a Vietnamese person, I was looking forward to the bun bo hue until it arrived, looking sad with not even a hint of the bbh color, and it tasted horrible. The bun rieu looked decent but also tasted terrible. The pho was probably the only decent dish, but it wasn't good. This was the worst experience we've had, and I felt like we got robbed paying to eat (taste since we didn't even touch our bowls) garbage food. It's a disgrace to Vietnamese cuisine. A total of $67 wasted on bad food, bad service, and definitely no ambiance at that place! Just to add, typically for bad food and service I still leave a tip but they got the $67 that they didn't deserve! Harsh to say that but it's the truth.

I tried BBH Noodle awhile ago and thought it was pretty pricey for Pho. Good, but pricey. Nowadays, that's the standard pricing at other restaurants. Today, I revisited them while waiting for my mom's takeout from next door to be ready. The service was bad. I walked in and a lone lady was sitting at the back table talking on the phone. After seating myself done and waited a few minutes with nobody to greet me or bring me a menu. I proceeded to go to the kitchen to see if somebody would help me. As I saw somebody, she spoke in Vietnamese, and a man came out to help me but was surprised that he had to come out as he saw the woman just sitting there. I understand not to expect good service at these types of restaurants, but at least seat your customers and give them a menu and water. I only got the water after she somewhat took my order. Bun Bo Hue (Spicy): Beef and pork slices, ham, tendon, pork blood (4/5). I was surprised that they did not include the usual shrimp paste and chili oil. But, for me it was already a good heat level for me. Best of luck to them.

We were in the area and were thinking about revisiting a noodle place in Milpitas we had tried years ago, but couldn't remember the name nor the location so we saw this little as we drove by and decided to give it a try. We got there around 2pm on Saturday and it was pretty empty. We ordered Bun Bo Hue and an appetizer. We couldn't decide if we want Goi Cuon or the papaya salad so we asked the server (I think he is the owner?) which one was better. One would expect he would suggest the more expensive salad but he actual recommended the cheaper rolls. Extra point there! Happy to see they offer Bun Bo Hue as we love the spicy noodles. We have tried many bun no hue places in the Bay Area, including the famous Bun Bo Hue A nam in San Jose. Some places tend to make it too sweet. The Bun Bo Hue here was HUGE and flavorful. It was spicy but we like it hot so we fully used the toasted pepper chili sauce on the table. The lemongrass flavor was intense and we love it. The Goi Cuon was the biggest I have seen. They are very thoughtful that they didn't put the crushed peanuts in the dipping sauce like other places, but offer it on the side... for people with allergies I think-very considerate . There wasn't anything to write home about regarding the taste of the rolls. They were fresh and crunchy as expected for goi Cuon. Part of the skin was a little hard but overall they were good for the price. The place was clean and tables arranged neatly. The service was good and the boss (I think) was very friendly. The menu offerings were limited but I don't mind. Overall it was a 3.65 star experience (so round it up to 4). I wouldn't mind coming back if I am in the area...

Another week, another time to try a pho place. I appeared at what seemed to be a small family hosted joint? I ordered a usual beef pho, and taste wise it's okay, I just have some issues. Some of the beef is rubbery to the point where it's not possible to chew it. The service needs some work, even with a handful of people, a lot of other customers were waiting longer than expected. You don't need to come here, you aren't missing anything

Friendly staff. Family owned. The bun bo hue is definitely proper. Nice chili oil (sate) accompanying the bun bo hue. Plenty of side herbs which is a plus. The portion is also huge for $18.5. If you want to satisfy your spicy noodle soup need you gotta come here

This is a solid Vietnamese restaurant in Milpitas if you're craving Bun Bo Hue or Hu Tieu Nam Vang. The portions and quality is very good. They have a variety of other dishes too like pho and rice plates, but I haven't tried it personally. Food comes out quickly. Would recommend.

The service is absolutely fantastic, and the food is a delightful treat! You get a generous serving of noodles and meat that really hits the spot. However, be warned--the Vietnamese coffee packs a powerful punch!

It's been YEARS since I've stopped by and had some BBH Noodle. The menu sure has chopped down in size but the simplicity is just enough to keep the customers coming back for more. The menu includes a few appetizers, 3 types of noodle soup, vermicelli bowls, rice offerings, & a long list of drinks. The seating capacity is a little over 40 patrons which is a bit hard to believe but I guess they make magic happen if/when it's needed. Lunch consisted of: *BUN BO HUE- spicy beef noodle soup *PHO BO VIEN- pho w/ beef balls *HU TIEU DAI THAP CAM- combination noodle soup with chewy clear noodles *SODA CHANH- Vietnamese soda lemonade Food: For starters, just like the numerous pho/noodle houses located in the Bay Area, the sriracha shortage is REAL!! You won't find the infamous red sauce with it's green twisty cap here. They do have fish sauce, hoisin, chili, & a generic form of sriracha placed table side. I liked how the plates of veggies provided are the traditional herbs and veggies typically found with each dish- the employees didn't just pile on a bunch of generic veggies for everyone to share. The noodles were good. Pho was good and the nephew like the oversized beef balls provided. BBH noodles definitely had the iconic spicy factor required in its broth, unfortunately there wasn't much else beyond that. Mam rouc [fermented shrimp paste] is most definitely needed to offset the spicy but bland flavors of the soup. Combination chewy noodles was surprisingly a lot more enjoyed that I anticipated. The toppings and protein provided in each bowl was plentiful but I would have liked a bit more when it came down to noodle amounts. 3.5 stars overall. I wouldn't mind coming back but it wouldn't be something I'd go outta my way for.

I haven't visited this spot in more than 8 years until today. There's always new ownership and restaurant name changes on this block. Nothing fancy and not huge, but they definitely have enough tables and chairs inside. Same old. Senior folks work here and there's always people chatting inside lounging around. Grab a menu at the front display shelf area at entrance doors. It's kind of hard to notice they stack menus there, in case you're wondering where the menu is. Not many dine-in customers during lunchtime (Thursday). TV is on with Vietnamese programs. Place is a bit outdated compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in Milpitas. More quiet these days than usual. Credit cards accepted. Pay at front counter after dining inside. I sat at corner table 1 and had the Bun Rieu Crab Cake Meat Pate Tomato Paste Noodle Soup with a glass of water. True, selections are a bit pricier compared to other similar places. Still delicious, especially the unique meat pate. They're actually different in taste compared to others. Good tasting flavorful meat pate is probably handmade. Very good. Huge portion sizes inside bowl. Service is slow, but ok. Mixed vibes inside. 1-2 staffs (males) are working. Don't expect excitement. Not too bright interior lighting. Low key casual dining mood. They can get very busy taking orders over the phone. The place was much better with more servers in past years. They are definitely trying to survive. Staffs are growing older. Menu is simple. Old places still have potential. This is one of those places that should get repainted or upgraded to compete with others. Sticky wet tables? Utensils looked old. Times have changed, so the dining mood needs to catch up with modern businesses. It felt like business is slower and customer base is shrinking, but you can still find delicious selections here. Very mixed interior vibes here. Food is good.

This place has been in this plaza for a few years now and this was the first time I tried it. I tend to stay loyal to my favorite pho place. I should have tried this sooner! The beef broth is so good. It is clearly not heavy on the MSG just the slow cooked flavor of beef broth. The soup was really lovely. There was also a lot of meat. The only thing I was disappointed with was the lack of tripe and tendon which is what I love in my pho. I will definitely try this place again, I like that the menu is small meaning they stick to a few specialty items.

Came here on a weeknight for dinner because I really wanted soup. I tried the BBH and it was mid for me since I'm huge on savory and super spicy for BBH. If you don't like too much heat, then this is probably a good broth-spice level for you. Otherwise, it was not spicy for me and the chili oil they had wasn't spicy for me either. I did try their eggrolls, which was great but I forgot to snap a picture of it. Glad there's a Vietnamese joint in Milpitas.

Three words: Bun Bo Hue, #5, and the brooOOoOoooOoth. So delicious and flavorful, with lots of meat! This place has been my boyfriend's new and recent Pho find, and we've already come back for 2 consecutive weeks (I think 3 for him). A new favorite for me! If you're feeling adventurous, I'd definitely try this place out! read more

Finally able to try BBH Noodle and their Bun Bo Hue. The noodles were thick as I like, almost like udon. The variety of meats: beef, pork, gio, pork blood was tasty and not overcooked. It came with veggies to add for texture or even to cool the broth and a bit of lime. It was the kind of hot spice that gets in the back of your throat but it didn't coat your entire tongue that you lose your taste buds at the end of a meal. My brother ordered a bun (dry noodle with pork and egg roll), he was impressed with the size and flavors. We could add this to our rotation and try different items on their menu. read more

I love it when I go to a place and the blood, or "huyet" is cooked well--not undercooked and obviously disgusting or over cooked and dry/crumbly. The BBH itself, or "bun bo hue," is pretty good--just spicy enough for me, though not spicy enough for some but they do give you extra spice on the side to add yourself. read more

Ordered #4 and #10 Both entree are delicious, meats are tender, well seasoned easy to chew. Restaurant is clean and tidy. Location is easy to find, right off 680 calaveras exit. I would recommend to friends & family. read more

Found my favorite BBH home! I love bbh and when I found out there was a new place open I had to give it a try, and boy did they deliver! Flavor is on point! Not too salty and I don't go home feeling like they put a load of msg! Even though I like mine with extra color and spice those can be easily added. Service are friendly and food comes out quick! Love this place!!! read more

Bbh was ok. The beef meat was tender compared to an nam. The soup needs a little more spice. Oj was definitely fresh squeezed. The waitress needs to learn to take order. She was taking my order and walk away in the middle of me ordering. Didn't even apologized and then said what did I want to order? If your not ready to get my order then don't go to my table and take order. Then when I went over to the cashier to pay they gave me a lot of pennies in stead of dimes and nickels...WTH. Overall, the place was ok just needs better service. read more

This is the worst service I've seen. I wish I could give them Zero star. I just order Bun bo hue and I have to wait over 30 mins and remind them many times but they still ignore me. Then the guys just come and said he lost my bill so I have to wait more, the most terrible restaurant and disappointed feeling. Never come to this restaurant again, otherwise they treat you so bad. read more

Love coming here. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. Food is always on point, my boyfriend loves their wonton noodles. My personal favorite is their specialty which is spicy beef noodle soup aka bun no hue. Can't get enough! read more

If you're a big fan of Bún Bò Hu. Looks no where than this restaurant. I guarrantee you that uou wont be dissappointed. I love Bún Bò Hu. I tried almost evevery restaurant in town and any city that I've been visiting including those cities with biggest Bietnamese population like Orange county, Houston and San Jose and I even try those restaurant is claimed to be the best Bún Bò Hu turn out they dont match what they advertise. I also came to try the original birth place of Bún Bò Hu in the central Vietnam. I found most mistaken by most restaurants are that they have way too much oil in their soup and too much lemongrass that make you dont want to eat because those lemongrass make your mouth want to spit out and the oily is nasty. This BBH restaurant by far is the best in term of the balance of taste and no oily and no chop lemongrass. The soup is clear and smell good. Lots of meats. read more

This would be new my place to go for BBH without heading down to San Jose. The BBH is good, but slightly on the lighter side in term of the spicy, at least the presentation-wise is not spicy hot like other places. The bowl is consider the smaller than average BBH I had before. The biggest flaw would be their service. Even the place is not fully packed yet, the guys already seem like being overwhelmed. The restaurant is not big at all, but with 3 guys still can't handle it?! Anyway, I would give this 4.5 star. The service could be even better. read more

service 3 average service you would expect from pho restaurant. they seat you down and immediately try to take your order and walk away when order is placed and do not follow up to see if you need anything else. food 5 I have tried two different noodle dishes here. bun bo hue and hu tieu. loved both! food here is pretty clean. no dirt on the veggies served with noodle soups and utensils do not have any left over food stuck to it. read more

This is me and my bf's go-to for BBH because it's so close to our home! The first time we came here was during their grand opening. They were packed and super busy so the food came out a little slow and the servers were not as well trained. I worked in the restaurant industry before so I totally understand. They definitely improved ever since then which made us come back again and again. Tonight, me and the bf came for dinner around 6:20pm because he was craving BBH. We ordered the seafood and chicken pan fried noodle, BBH, and the chicken wings appetizer. About 15 minutes passed by and still no food. I look around and it seemed like everyone got their food already and hoped we would get ours next. Another 15 minutes passed by until we got our first dish (pan fried noodles). I noticed the chicken had a weird bitter/sour taste to it and asked my bf to try it and he agreed it was a bit off so we stopped eating it. About half way done with the dish, we asked the server if our other dishes were coming out soon. He said the BBH would be coming soon. And when we mentioned the wings, he said he would go and make it real quick. I guess they forgot about the wings. It was 7:15 and nothing. We got to the front to pay and told the cashier we only received our pan fried noodles. For some reason, she ignored us and helped the lady standing behind us..... I could tell the bf was getting real pissed off now. Our server came up and we told him we only received one of our dishes while being there for an hour. He said there was a mix up in the kitchen or something. At that point we just wanted to pay and go. He said our total was $11. And then 10 seconds later he said "oh yeah you had a Thai ice tea too. Your total is $15.26." Like really? You're gonna ask for that after you screwed up our order? Ok whatever. To make matters worse, within minutes of getting home, both of us had to run to the bathroom. Guess now we know the chicken was spoiled. It really upsets me that I have to write a bad review but tonight was disappointing and unforgivable. read more

Definitely a return to this restaurant!! This is my favorite soup (Bun Bo Hue) and I'm so happy that it is in Milpitas. Everything about the soup was delicious. The broth was perfect and the portion was filling. If you get their for lunch or dinner, call to make a reservation or else it will be a 20 mins wait, which is still not bad. read more

Fast, spicy, and fresh. Friendly patrons. Lots of Vietnamese people eating here and great flavors. Definitely a good sign! A little hard to see in this strip of restaurants along Calavaras. Some people told us they eat here 3 days a week! It's worth coming back. Favorites are the 'tossed' beef and fresh lemon soda! read more

Um. So. This place is incredible. First thing: it's very small. We were there on a Saturday just after noon and it was pretty full, even so our wait was 5 minutes for 2 people. A larger group may not work well here. BUT!! The menu! Very simple, 2-sided with maybe 20 total dishes, and judging by what we got, they are very very good at preparing them. The pork vermicelli salad and seafood baked noodles were both so good that we inhaled them without hardly speaking. So amazingly delicious. OH! And the SPRING ROLLS! At last somebody made spring rolls where you can taste the herbs. So fresh. Everything in this place was fresh and delicious. And cheap! 100% worth your time. read more

I came here twice. The first time I ordered Bun Bo Hue: Delicious !!! Generous portion & good a mount of shredded water spinach & banana flower compare to other restaurants, which provides very little. The broth is piping hot and tasted just right. This place the broth is perfect for my taste. It's not too overwhelming by the aroma of the lemongrass or shrimp paste flavor like other places in San Jose such as Ca Mau restaurant. If you want more flavors you can ask for extra shrimp paste to take your flavor up another notch. 5 stars. The second time I ordered Pho: Standard !!! Over price !!! Nothing special about the broth that I could comment. The portion is very small. Enough meat but the amount of noodle on my bowl is less than size of the kid meal from other restaurant. But I have to say the hoisin sauce & the Sriracha is good. 3 stars The place: Nice and clean. 5 stars The service: Up and above great. Polite waiter & waitresses. 5 stars. The order: Too a long time for food to come out. 2 stars. The price. Over price. The location is Milpitas not downtown San Jose. The price of all entrees should reduce by 1 dollar. Will come back for BBH but not Pho. read more

- Cha Gio Tom Sot Mayonnaise (2 pieces) / Mayonnaise Shrimp Egg roll is neither vietnamese or chinese or american, but it's pretty good fusion appetizer; pretty heavy to eat a full order by yourself, so share, 1/2 or 1 piece is just the right amount of indulgence - Pho Đăç Biê (Combo Beef Noodle Soup) - quite tender beef, tendon, & especially the tripes; yummy beef meatball; very good soup base (unlike most other pho places that use msg, this soup will not make you feel thirsty afterwards) - Hu Tiêu / Mì Đăç Biê (Combo Rice / Egg Noodle Soup) - this noodle soup is okay, but chili sauce that came with it is made in house with what tasted like dried shrimp minced in, very nicely made, i would buy a whole bottle of this chili sauce if it was available for sale - Com Ga Nuong (BBQ Chicken Rice Plate) - tender juicy chicken, pretty good read more

Good BBH except it's not spicy at all. But that can easily be fixed by adding your own hot sauce. Portions are out of control and it's a nice price. Service is kinda slow (maybe the workers are still trying to get a feel on how to run things). Overall, have definitely recommended to friends. Glad it's in the neighborhood. read more

My noodle is $10, adds spring rolls (shrimp & pork eggs) $6.50, so the total will be $17.985 included 9% tax. However, I got changed $20.05. I ordered to go, so tips should be optional for me to choose. $2 is not a huge amount, but I feel unhappy when you add tips without letting me know even though I order to go. read more

My go to restaurant for when I have Vietnamese food cravings. I always tend to get the grilled pork vermicelli when I go here. I've tried to BBH and some other dishes but I always gravitate back to grilled pork vermicelli. You can taste the freshness in the ingredients and I'll keep coming back for more! read more

This used to be my favorite place to go to for BBH. Despite all other locations closer to me we'd still make the long drive. The service now SUCKS!! Food takes long and to top it off they got my order wrong. After waiting nearly 30 minutes to get my order and they got it wrong, We got up and left. I've been so hesitant to go back. read more

I ate here for lunch with my coworker and we have to admit this is the best bun bo hue spot ever!!!!! the second time i came here with my fiance because i told him how good it was and since our old spot changed owners we never found a good new place to eat. My server was Uyen on my second visit! she was soooooo sweet. I told her that i posted the picture of the BBH on my instagram and facebook and i got alot of my friends interested and alot of them came here to eat it also! She then gave me a free drink and free dessert. She would have to be the best server i had ever had... n i go out to eat alot.... Therefore this is my new spot for Bun bo hue for life!!!!!!!! read more

The service is really bad. Not sure if because of the owner or because of the server but their respond is so bad. We ordered 2 bun bo hue for my husband and I, we asked for sate sauce for the Bun Bo and the server he brought out the small place with less then 1/2 teaspoon of the sate and we asked for a bit more since we are a spicy eater. The server just replied, it is the sample and that is it no more. It is so rude. All restaurant will have the sate or hot sauce at the table. What is wrong with this restaurant? Bun bo Hue without sate. Will never come back again. I would rather go down to An Nam at least to have the good service and better bun bo. read more

With a lot of pho places in the area, it's not hard to figure out which ones become some of your go-to places. BBH has become one of them for my family. I am a big fan of of their ox-tail soup and their strawberry milk tea. My boys love their fried rice. Nothing beats a big hot bowl of noodles. BBH is yummy. read more

Not a fan. I tried the BBH after seeing its great reviews, but it didn't seem to live up to the hype. The broth of the was too salty, and all I could taste was the shrimp paste. I've also ordered a thai iced tea, which tasted a bit weird and didn't come until I was almost done with my meal... The waiter also didn't provide any water. I had to walk up to the server hiding behind the cashiers to ask for it. All in all, the customer service was poor, and the food wasn't that great. Maybe their other selections may be better, but I don't think I'll be going back. read more

Great bun bo hue place. They give decent amount of meats. I deduct 1 star because the past 2 times that I ordered, the broth wasn't as rich and flavorful as I remember it. Also, they should have better ventilation system. The bun bo hue smell empower the whole restaurant. My hair and clothes smell like bun bo hue after eating there. read more

I usually tip between $2-5, but this extra fee made me reconsider. I ordered their specialty, the BBH, and picked it up just 5 minutes after placing my order. Unfortunately, the soup was already cold by the time I got it. The portion was underwhelming, with only two slices of pork belly, and the noodles were hard and unappetizing. The xíu mại was just okay, and the nước mắm was also pretty average. Overall, 3/5. The cháo lòng had good flavor, and the offal was cleaned and prepared well. The presentation was also very nice. However, the dipping sauce could have been better. The biggest issue was that the cháo came out lukewarm/cold, which really took away from the dish. Cháo lòng is one of those dishes that really needs to be served piping hot to be enjoyable. A few of my friends who have tried other soups here have mentioned the same issue--that their soups were also served lukewarm. Hopefully this is something they can improve. 3/5. The highlight of the meal was definitely the xôi mặn. 4/5. The sticky rice was soft, moist, and cooked really well--not dry or hard at all. It came with pâté and a generous amount of toppings. Everything worked well together, and each bite was flavorful and well-balanced. This was easily my favorite dish of the three. I like that they offer is a selection of prepared foods to-go, including pickled vegetables and pickled pig ear. I bought the pickled pig ear, which was tasty, though the large jar was priced around $30. Unfortunately, it didn't sit particularly well with my stomach afterward. I might consider giving Mama House another try in the future and exploring other menu items, though I would probably order takeout so I could enjoy the food from the comfort of home.
