I just happened to passed by this place and there were no customers around thinking it was still closed, but the middle aged man I assume the manager/owner came up to me very politely that they are still opened for business and I was seated right away and he brought over the menu and the first thing I've noticed is the price difference from the one shown in December 2017 and they have gone up. I decided to order the House Special fried rice Vietnamese style for $12.50 and for drink Thai tea around $4 bucks, the server the young lady brought over my meals and they were very generous. During that time there were no other customers could been the holiday or that it's still early in the day. I wouldn't mind coming back and try out their noodles and appetizers. As for parking won't be a problem though I would avoid coming down here during lunch time since there are so many businesses wrapped around this tiny strip mall. As a fan of this noodle soup, thought I check it out. After a few tries, I can say their Bun Bo Hue is okay, so-so, do-able, but not as good as they say. Bun Bo Hue An Nam has been my long-time favorite but I'm happy to have discovered BBH Noodle which is comparable in flavor and is a little more reasonable in price. I don't expect much from the quality of meats served at Vietnamese restaurants but it's a different case here. The bo luc lac was surprisingly tender as well as the meats in the BBH-- even the meats that I'm not fond of, I found it to be very good here. Since moving to the South Bay, I have exponentially increased my intake of Vietnamese food! Haha. Parking: Not a problem at all since it is in a plaza! Ambience: The space is small but has the a couple tables that fit a party of 6 or more. Nothing about the space stands out; it is clean compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. Service: I have been here multiple times, and I find their service to be great! The employees are friendly and prompt. The girl who was serving us kept checking in on us (not in an annoying way by any means) - if we needed water, etc. Order: My friends and I ordered Bun Bo Hue. If you have not had Bun Bo Hue, it is a noodle soup with beef shank, Vietnamese ham, tendon, pork blood, and various other vegetables. The flavors are deeper with lemongrass, beef bones, fish sauce, etc. The noodles are similar to a thicker version of spaghetti noodles. The restaurant allowed for replacing meats - since I didn't like pork blood and tendon, I got extra beef shank and Vietnamese ham. Verdict: 4 because the soup is delicious (I believe it's comparable to Bun Bo Hue An Nam), there is no wait like the other restaurant, and the service has been consistently great. Came for an early dinner and it was empty with the wait staff sitting around gossiping. Probably because of how early it is, because towards the end of our meal, a few people did come. However, it doesn't appear to be busy at all as we left. Service-wise, despite it not be very busy, there wasn't much service provided. However, it is an Asian establishment so what can one expect? In total, two of us had the Bun Bo Hue, a regular Pho, and an order of spring rolls. The spring rolls contains both pork and shrimp. Nice combination for those that prefer them to be more savory. It does have a hint of lemongrass in them and the peanut sauce isn't overly thick or thin. The wrap's texture is very firm and not as soft, but when bitten, it was fine. The regular Pho looks nice and my friend whom had it said it was good. For the Bun Bo Hue, it came with a condiment dish with half stir-fry chili paste and half shrimp paste. The shrimp paste is nice, but the stir-fry chili paste wasn't fresh as it wasn't crispy and was soggy from sitting too long. The Bun Bo Hue is visually appealing and to my taste, I felt the broth and soup was a bit weaker than another one I've had earlier in the week. The broth's taste is more mellow in comparison and the spiciness and heat were weaker. For a lighter tasting person, it would suit their tastebuds, but not for a person who wants full or bold flavors in their Bun Bo Hue. Taste-wise overall, it was weaker in regards to savory, spiciness, and heat. In terms of ingredient quantity and quality, the Cha Lua came with 2 slices and were ok in regards to thickness. There were 2 slices of beef shank slices and they were average; more chunks of shank instead of slices. There were 2 slices of pork that were average quality as well. Two chunks of pig's blood, which were sub-par average. Not very fresh and they were more firm than soft. The noodles were interesting where it was soft, but at the same time al dente. Perhaps they were not cooked evenly? Lastly, the broth's temperature is warm-hot and not necessarily hot when they served it. Overall, it is an acceptable bowl of BBH, but I don't consider it to be amazing or spectacularly for me to drive over to have them each time. Especially when I know other places that can offer a better BBH for me. Side-notes: I believe they suffer immensely from a lack of quick circulation. The chunks of pig's blood and their ingredients would probably be fresher and of higher quality if they had a steady flow of customers to constantly empty their supply. The store I am comparing it to is San Jose's Bun Bo Hue An Nam. Supposedly, BBHAN's chef came to here after leaving the San Jose store. One of my favorite restaurants to get some good ol' BBH. The owner and son are so sweet and make sure you're well taken care of. They offer other menu items like Hu Tieu, Pho, and rice plates but I'm the type of person that orders what the restaurant is known for. The flavor of the broth is really good! Not too oily and has the perfect balance of beefy-ness and spice. You can add more of their house made chili if you please. Don't forget to ask for the shrimp paste either! It puts it all together nicely. They don't skimp on the amount of toppings either. There's only 1 size and that size is more than enough to feed 2 skinny girls or 1 big buff dude. I like Bún Bò Hu (BBH), but the heavy shrimp paste in the soup prevent me from eating it. My friend ordered that and I tried the "Seafood Pho Áp Chao". My friend didn't think BBH was up to par with his taste, too much MSG he said, no flavor of real meat and spices. The meat was still very hard, not tender, he left some on the bowl. Everything these days they throw in the Ox tail as an option. I never had any BBH with Ox tail, I'm not interested in parts of the butt. The Ox tail wasn't special, there is NO pig feet. I like BBH because of the pig feet but I think not many people eat them these days. My dish was fine, the sauce was just right for me, but some may find it under seasoned or not salty enough. One thing about most VN restaurants is very deceiving is that when they throw in some shrimp, squid and the dish became "SEAFOOD". No, it's not, mostly chicken strips with a few tiny shrimps and tiny pieces of cut out squid. The veggies were cooked perfectly, the rice noodles were crispy and I was actually satisfied with my dish. In Milpitas, I've had pretty crappy bbh when I'm too lazy to go to San Jose for it. Finally, a place worth going to in Milpitas for bbh! Food: The bbh is pretty flavorful, however I did add more chili flakes. There's only one size, which is okay with me. You don't have to pay extra for pizzle and blood cubes! We also got mayonnaise egg rolls. We ordered it because we had no idea what it was. We were half expecting egg rolls stuffed with mayo. They're basically honey walnut shrimp with egg roll wrapping. I was very surprised that the roll was jam packed with while shrimps (maybe 6-8) because restaurants generally skimp on the meat portion. I got strawberry milk tea and was expecting the mixed-powdered type you get from a boba place. Instead, I got milk tea with fresh strawberries: way better. Service: The majority of the restaurant was full, but the servers were still so attentive. I'm super stoked that this one opened and is only 5-10 minutes away!! The bun bo hue broth was super flavorful, super bigger than most on Tully, and they really hook you up with meats and such. The place was a little smaller than I had imagined. It probably seats 30-40 people. Since it is my first visit, I wanted to try their Bun Bo Hue, which is their specialty, and the shrimp/mayo eggroll, which looked intriguing! The first to arrive were the eggrolls. They were disappointing! Each of the 2 eggrolls were filled with maybe 2 shrimps at the most. The flavor was bland! My favorite place to get a good bowl of bun bo hue. I crave this so often it's a little scary. Their bowl of bbh is so rich in flavor and has the perfect amount of meat and noodles. You can tell from the taste of their broth that they really take the time to stew it and keep the broth cooking. There doesn't seem to be a lot of MSG in the broth because I'm not crazy thirsty after eating it! I've had bbh where the noodles were soggy but the noodles in the bbh here were definitely not! It had the perfect chew to it. Not too soft but also not too firm. My mom and I typically share a bowl of bbh because we both can't finish a bowl individually. The bun bo hue here is comparable to Bun Bo Hue An Nam. Broth is delicious and I loved all the toppings. Lots of bean sprouts, banana blossom, and cabbage. There's enough meats inside the bowl for me. The bbq pork chop dish was tender. I will be back when I'm craving for BBH and don't want to drive to San Jose to Bun Bo Hue An Nam. Decided to finally try this place out after passing by it so many times on the way home. Walked in here around dinner time and got seated right away, menus and utensils placed on the table. I value fast service more than anything. Got the bun bo hue and egg rolls. I was under the impression that a $10 noodle bowl wouldn't fill me up but wow I was wrong! This bowl has a huge and generous variety of meats, and also the pig blood was a huge plus for me. I kept on working on my bowl until I had a mini food baby, thus being one of the most cost efficient and delicious meal I've had in a while My only complaint is that the egg rolls should've came before the noodles, being an appetizer after all, I was about half-way through with my main order before they arrived. Regardless, they were great and the inside basically tasted like walnut shrimp. Bun bo hue broth was flavorful and hearty; probably one of the better bun bo hue I've had in the east bay. Nevertheless, the more flavorful something is, the more worried you should be. I drank at least two cups of water whilst finishing my bowl. One of my distant relatives did work here for a little while before he quit and told me that they DO use ACTUAL bones for their broth (lol, what a relief am i right?), but then add a little something magical to the bowl before they serve it. *hinthint* Other than bun bo hue, I once ordered their "Baked Seafood Rice" thinking that it was going to be really unique, but to my utter disappointment.. it was just basically fried rice with carrot pieces, calamari, and shrimp. GG. Their "shrimp and mayonnaise eggroll" was good but SUPER oily and needed a little bit more mayonnaise because it was sort of...dry. It was okay, but a little disappointed. Since it was my first visit, I asked the waiter who seated me if there was anything spicy on the menu because I didn't want a sweet and sour sauce. He recommended a tasty sounding vermicelli with filet mignon & grilled shrimp w/a vegetable mix. Then I looked at my bowl and I only had 2 shrimp when the picture on menu showed 4, so I asked for the other 2 shrimp. The young waitress looked at me kind of puzzled and asked, "Do you want more shrimp?) I said, "Yes, I want what the picture shows." She tried to tell me that was "just a picture," so I said again, "Well, that's what I want!" My meal was served to me with a cup of something I was unfamiliar with, so asked what it was for. I was told it was a fish sauce to put on top of it. Unfortunately, when I did the rest of my food was got cold, because it was cold. It was A LOT of vermicelli and not much vegetables, unfortunately. I did ask for more carrots but it only came 3 more strings mixed with some white string vegetables in a little cup. I didn't argue I added it to my mail mix it in and continue to eat. It took a while, but finally I was brought 2 more hot grilled shrimp that were very very good! The filet mignon was perfectly cooked and very flavorful! However, once the shrimp were brought to me the rest of my food was pretty cold, and the hot shrimp or a stark contrast against the rest of the food in my bowl. Therefore, I asked if they could please warm it up for me. The young waitress came and took my bowl. the problem is, I don't know what they did back there but my bowl of food was the same temperature as when it left my table! BBH noodle just recently opened and usually BBH spots aren't around this area often. So I'm glad the family who owns this restaurant decided to switch things up and plop one of the tastiest BBH noodle houses in the Bay Area! After visiting this place I could say their broth is one of the tastiest that I've tried around San Jose. They give a great portion of meat in the noodle dish, along with a heaping side of veggies (which I totally looooove!!) and the broth isn't too spicy either! I also had a chance to try two of the eye catching appetizers on the menu: the fish sauce glazed fried chicken wings, and the ship+mayonnaise stuffed egg rolls. The eggs rolls reminded me of honey walnut shrimp dish stuffed inside an egg roll shell, without the sweetness of the walnut. (2 for $5 though...) the eggs rolls were good but I probably wouldn't order it again.... As for the fish sauce glazed wings, they were delicious! These I would definitely order again, but I wish a piece or 2 more wings would be provided in the appetizer for that price. Service was great!! One the of employees (I'm guessing one of the owners or someone related to the owners of this family restaurant) was taking a lunch break but still was paying attention to the floor to help out and calling his co workers to come help us out! Of course we had to get the Bun Bo Hue and then we couldn't help but order the Bo Luc Lac. The broth of the Bun Bo Hue was unlike any that we've tasted before, in a good way. Bun bo hue: A spicy bowl of flavors. The broth is beef and lemongrass based. It is served with thick long and slippery rice noodles with pig blood squares, slices of beef, vietnamese luncheon ham. I could be topped off with onions, cabbage, and bean sprouts. All of this for $9.50 a bowl. This is definitely the best place to get bun bo hue if it isn't at your mom or aunt's house. Other than the great food, the employees here are great as well. They here are hardworking and enthusiastic and makes sure you leave with a satisfying experience. It is located at a plaza and you could already smell the deliciousness from the parking lot. The ambiance inside is clean and modern. I am for sure coming back! read more

I thought there would possibly be better ones out there. I wasn't ready to be fully committed to one, so I decided to explore my options. However, after visiting this new BBH spot, I realize that Bun Bo Hue An Nam, in San Jose on Story Rd, will always be the one to hold my heart. When it comes to BBH, I'm all about a distinctively rich, beefy broth. The broth from here had a sweetness that took precedence over all the other flavors and it seemed to be lacking the beefier taste I prefer, that BBH An Nam provides. The BBH here just wasn't as comforting and delicious as the bowls of BBH I've had at An Nam. If you don't mind a sweeter, less beefy broth, then you may like the BBH from here. Bear in mind that I am NOT saying that the BBH from here is horrible at all--it is in fact good. + They offer BBH dac biet style (with oxtail) while supplies last! read more
