I came here for lunch on a weekend with a few friends. There was plenty of parking around. When we entered, the decor was modern and was very picturesque with light classic music playing in the background (from a Youtube video). We ordered off a tablet the staff gave us, which allowed us to see the full menu, add items to cart and checkout. They provided water cups, a jug, and some tea. Once we submitted our order on the tablet. The food arrived around 5-15 minutes after our order. I got one of the spicy beef noodle soups on the menu, and it was tasteful and filling. Korean version is sweet, this one is salty. I think the sauce is good, a bit tad too salty for my taste. The noodles are cooked well. The fresh cucumber goes well with the sauce. Maybe more cucumber would have been better to also balance out the saltiness. The mala pot ( I chose medium spicy level) barely has the mala taste in it. Would not recommend this. I'm not sure why this place has low ratings but I love this place so much and I bring my friends here all the time!! It's located within a plaza so it's not hard to find parking and when we came we got seated right away! I always get the beef skewers ($2.95) and the A-cai "Lettuce Leaf" ($1.99). These are absolute must trys!! I'm not sure what they season it with (a combination of cumin and some other spices), but it's SOO DELICIOUS! Their other items are good as well. The chicken skin is pretty worth it since they give you a lot and it's super crispy and a tad bit sweet! The quail eggs and chicken wings were also good. I also got the dry mushroom pot ($17), which was really spicy and had a strong mala spice to it. It was also cooked so many different chinese spices, making it super flavorful. It was good but it was really spicy for me and my friends didn't really like the mala flavor, but overall it was still really yummy! Spicy enough but does not burn your taste buds. Milder cumin like flavor than most BBQ Skewers I've tried before. Also a little sweet. I liked the Pork Belly Skewers. One of the better pork belly skewers; soft with good fat to meat ratio. Didn't have to fight off the stick to get the meat off. The bbq beef was more tender than the lamb. It also has some fatty portions which made it more tasty. Lamb was leaner. The chicken heart was the best I've had. They actually slice it thin which made it more tasty because the seasonings coated more of the meat surfaces. It was also pretty tender in texture and not chewy. The Chicken Wings were crispy and not dry at all. Very good. The Chicken Skins were very thin and reminds me of chicharon. It's not as good as the rest of the BBQ meats. It didn't have the buttery chicken flavor. It's more dry. The buns were good and toasty but a bit smaller than other places. Reasonably priced. Food came out 10-15 mins after ordering. To order you have to use the restaurant's one tablet that the staff use when taking other table's orders. Small dining room but clean and pretty relaxed ambiance. They also serve non BBQ dishes. Food was better than last time we came since it was less spicy but you have to mention less spicy otherwise it'll be spicy. There's a couple of tables for sit in and no outdoor seating with lots of parking. Staff were friendly but you order from a tablet and pay at the counter. Interior is somewhat small, not too many big tables so probably better for smaller parties. I always order the skewers here! This place is a hidden gem in Fremont for Chinese street food! My boyfriend and I always order the lamb, chicken, mushroom skewers because they are grilled, charred, seasoned with the perfect balance of spicy/ sweet Sichuan flavor. He introduced me to the Sichuan wide noodle dish and it is an entire experience! This dish is packed with flavor - we're talking whole potatoes, braised chicken, mushrooms, bell peppers, and lots of red pepper. Be careful though because I accidentally ate a small Sichuan pepper and the numbing effect lasted a while that it impacted my whole appetite afterwards LOL. I love the skewers from this place! There is another place in Cupertino that's better than this, but this place is pretty good too. So, there are two types of skewers, BBQ skewer or skewer in a hot pot. Personally I always go for bbq skewers. This time, I remember to take pictures and remember what I like and didn't like about each skewer: - Lamb: Personally, don't think their lamb skewers were that great. It was a bit dry. It seems like it's all lean meat. I like the combination of lean and fatty meat on a skewer, which has a much better texture. The other place in Cupertino does it better. - Chicken skin: It's great, very fatty and very satisfying - Quail eggs: they seasoned the quail egg very well. I will always order quail eggs - fishball with Roe: I like this one, it's very interesting, but I like it. -Enoki Mushroom: LOVED IT. They wrapped the enoki mushroom with tofu skin. The texture and the flavor just work. -Frog leg: it's literally just a frog leg, not even on a stick lol. I love frog legs, but I don't know if it's worth it. - Eggplant: I love eggplant and they put garlic on top to grill. I love the flavor, but it was way too brunt. You can taste the brunt flavor in the eggplant. - Fried Bun: ALWAYS, A MUST. As a side, we also did pig ears. With Chinese restaurants, don't expect really good service. The flavors from this restaurant are really really good! I absolutely adore their Dan Dan noodles, it has the right amount of spicy kick and numbing to it. The texture of the noodles are also always perfect! They have that "Jing Dou" texture that you're always looking for in Chinese style noodles. Their hotpot is also quite good. You can order from a variety of meats, seafood, and veggie and they'll put all of it into a pot and boil it together before bringing it to the table. You can choose the spice level, but I find that their medium spice is a comfortable burn! Haha The food here can be a bit on the salty side though, I feel like I drank 3 glasses of water during it due to the salt and spice. One thing that can be inconsistent at times is the service. Depending on who's working, they will either be really attentive, or you may be ignored for quite a bit. I take my friends here all the time and it's a crowd favorite. The owner is super sweet, she's from northern China and her husband is from the south, where this cuisine is from. The food is super spicy, and the steamed buns are a must-have. I usually skip steamed buns but they're seasoned so well here. The skewers are also really affordable compared to other skewer places. It's also one of the only placed locally open late, and people often stay a while to slowly eat and chat with friends . Overall, my favorite restaurant in Fremont (and possibly ever). read more
