Best Texas BBQ in the state of Washington.. review coming soon (now) 4 days later.. my appetite, stomach n my Tip hasn't changed (so..) here in Washington, we have very few places in my opinion that can do real Barbeque, yes real Barbeque n not BBQ nor places that have BBQ as a part of their name where u don't even smell or c smoke coming out the chimney i.e. microwave bbq places this place is real! I haven't been 2 TX, but have loved 1s that lived there n they tell me this is solid.. the cafeteria setting, sheet pan trays r wat u would find in a TX Barbeque joint.. although the meat there in TX, they claim is a little more saltier I love this place.. I love the service.. the ribs r definitely fall off the bone perfect n more tender than my other fav. place called, Brank's in Sumner/Auburn area, where Brank's has a perfect smoky flavor in their meats n they have perfect handcut fries; but, BBQ2U has perfect tenderness n fall off the bone.. oh yeah!.. ribs r meatier than Brank's I'm not a big Barbeque brisket person, but it is the best I had here in state minus chain, Famous Dave's their pulled pork fries were really good.. pork was nice n tender on top of CrisP fries their Barbeque sauce is the best here.. squeeze, squeeze.. squeeze only thing was chicken was ok.. a little dry n not much flavor.. I don't really care 4 that anyways nor the sides we chose (mac & cheese, fried okra n potato salad) were ok.. I didn't really care 4 them.. I'll grab more ribs next time as it is my fav. read more

The brisket is spectacular. I was just there to try the brisket and was pleased I got to enjoy it without smoking my own for 10 hours. For some quick and excellent brisket, this is an excellent choice and conveniently located right off highway 16 in Gig Harbor. I even enjoyed their homemade BBQ sauce too both the regular and spicy. This is just my opinion and I do not intend to evoke any negative emotions or outcomes for anybody. My opinion does not matter. I choose cooking meat with fire over any other cooking methods. Sides Okra - The raving reviews for this frozen "from the bag breaded vegetable " (its really fruit) is mind numbing. I have ate frozen breaded okra since 1982 from lubys.com/menu and churchs.com/menu/side/. Its readily available at Old Country Buffet, Shoney's, Sizzlers and many other restaurants that probably purchases this product from sysco.com/. I've been to restaurants that fry freshly breaded okra cut lengthwise. So, many awesome delicious ways this could easily be prepared from scratch. Mac & Cheese - Eating nachos with this kind of cheese ricos.com/products/ or any other cheese like similar product isn't good. It's worse eating mac & cheese that taste like this. Beans - The best tasting and freshest side. Over the years sometimes bits of brisket/pork, bacon, onions, bell peppers, and/or sugar are added to the "straight" from the can side. This side pairs best with the available proteins, based on how I like strong, bold, and rich foods. Potato Salad - The addition of boiled eggs gives it a less container feel. Cole Slaw - The slaw I tried eating tonight, had the liquid from the wilted red and white cabbage settled at the bottom of the styrofoam container. I could barely taste components of mayonnaise. French Fries - I haven't had the fries here. I don't like most frozen french fries. Fried Pickles - Appears to be made in house and I've not had them here. I prefer pickles cold and not fried. Banana Pudding - Is my favorite southern dessert. It can be found anywhere in Texas, even in bluebell.com/product/banana-pudding/ form. The suppressed layers of cookie, pudding, leaves my tongue and upper palate searching for some semblance of banana pudding. Meats This is what possibly hurts me the most and propelled me to write after all these years. A barbecue restaurant in a state that isn't barbecue centric is very risky, hard, and expensive. I love meat and I love meat kissed by fire and smoke! "Que" made in commercial smokers isn't what I'm used to. I prefer the artistry of a fire pit/smoker. The turkey breast and beef dino ribs, are what I've ordered the most over the years. Followed by the marbled brisket, sausage, and pork ribs. At times I've forgotten to request viewing the meats before being plated. The "que" being in warming boxes for excessive periods of time, dismantles the art of barbecue to the techniques of confit/braising. The equivalency of taking a well executed product and then simmering/steaming it. Most times I've spent a grip of money on beef ribs that are dry & tough around the edge/exterior or wet & limp all around. The bark is intoxicatingly beautiful, but deceptive in savoriness and toothsomeness. All the unctuousness gone from the beef and pork ribs. Same with the brisket. The meats are left to confit in its own rendered fat and/or braised in its own natural juices or possible "added" liquid, simultaneously. It ruins the meat and isn't barbecue any longer. I order Texas style, by the pound with sides of pickles, onions, and sauce. The "que" is elevated to satisfying with the addition of either more seasoning, sauce, and/or pickles or onions. Real "que" should stand on its own. At times the sausage looks like a handcrafted German style sausage. Sometimes not, from being over saturated in a liquid, yielding a tin can Vienna-esque muted sausage. I've never had the chicken. A perfectly balanced barbecue sauce! read more

Here in Tacoma for a very short business trip and bumped into this place. Excited after reading great reviews. I got the Texas plate (2 meats and 2 sides).so I got a 1/2 lb brisket and 3 back rib bones plus fried okra and fried pickles. Here's my review: 1. Service was great. So easy to order. You just come up the counter look at the menu and your on your way to some gastronomic experience 2. Both the brisket and ribs were DA BOMB. Smokiness was just right. Love the peppery Texas bbq flavor. Both were so moist and I got some parts of the fatty brisket which I like. The ribs was so tender fall off the bone. LOVED. BOTH MEAT. They don't have a spicy sauce but just mix it with the Tabasco Sriracha sauce and your are on your way to some deliciousness! 3. The fried okra and pickles as huge portions. And both were very tasty. If you are going on a date and your date doesn't bother to eat the ribs with their hands and get dirty, this place will not disappoint read more

Worst bbq. Brisket was sooooo dry. The 1/2 pound was cut into two chunks instead of sliced. Ribs were so over peppered it's all we could taste. Coleslaw tasted like it was left in the walk in uncovered for three days. Canned beans are just that, canned beans. Only good thing we got were the fries. Fried frozen French fries served hot and crispy. Hard to mess those up. French fries were the only thing that got eaten. Everything else went in the trash. read more

Finally made it here. Smaller than I expected. Smelled fabulous walking into the place. Guys at the counter are prompt and friendly. We went with the family plate...choosing pulled pork, brisket and jalapeño cheese sausage for our meats and potato salad, coleslaw, mac n cheese and fried pickles for sides along with some banana pudding. Meats were good. Tender, not too much of a smoke flavor. Sauce was yummy. Mac and cheese was decent as well as the coleslaw. Potato Salad was okay, but just not the type I like. Fried pickles were good. Banana pudding was okay--would be better if it was made and served fresh daily. Shiner bock was cold and they had sweet tea. Portions were good as three of us did share this...we all left full. Prices were fair. Would love to come back and try more menu items. read more

Like Johnny Cash sang, I've been everywhere and this is hands down, the BEST bbq I've ever tasted. Staff is super welcoming, just like the people in Texas. Connor brought me out some pork belly and burnt ends to try in addition to the Texas Trinity with brisket and sausage that I ordered. The BBQ food is excellent. The meat tastes like BBQ with or without the sauce! You can smell it cooking from outside the restaurant. The ambiance is "country" and not fussy. There is only counter service, and they are efficient and friendly. We usually take our food home because we like our beer and wine better than they have available. The food is just as good, or better than we have had at SaltLick or Hutchins, outside of Austin. The potato salad and coleslaw is also very good. read more

I was very impressed with my first visit (of MANY to come...) here at BBQ2U!! A place "back home" has always been my go-to spot for ribs for the last 15 years or so...and after trying ribs from many places I was convinced that I had found the best ribs I could possibly find...I was proven wrong after coming here after Church yesterday and hands down were the BEST ribs I have ever eaten. I am a huge fan of smoked ribs and im not even going to try to explain how amazing they were but if you enjoy PERFECTLY cooked smoked pork ribs that you can taste the love that went into making them then search no longer... absolutely amazing and I can't wait to try some different cuts they have!! 10/10 read more

On our long drive today we decided to stop by here and grab takeout for dinner. When we got home to eat it, we were blown away by how delicious it was! Now we are sad that we live far away, because it was so amazing. Please give this place a try, you won't regret it! We ordered the family platter which came with 3 meats and 4 sides. It seems like a good size for 3 people. The ribs, sausage, and the brisket were all excellent. They had such good flavor that we barely used any of the bbq sauce. The brisket was especially tender and had a yummy rub. The sides were also lovely. The fried okra and fried pickles had great flavor. I recommend mixing the mac & cheese with the baked beans for maximum deliciousness. I should also mention that the staff were especially friendly to us and got us our food in under 10 minutes. My wife and I both agree this is the best bbq we have had in the greater Seattle area. read more

We've been supporting different restaurants each weekend during the stay-at-home order, trying to help them remain profitable during difficult times. We wanted to do that for bbq2u as well, and today drove across the bridge and spent $160 in that effort. When you enter the restaurant there is tape, and signs, reminding customers to socially distance. So imagine our surprise and confusion to find no one behind the counter doing likewise, wearing masks, or keeping 6' apart. Why not? I do believe individuals have choices, but you are serving food. I'm working hard to help you stay in business. Would you be willing to help safeguard my health? This is the only restaurant we have visited for take out, in months, that did not respect their customers enough to require their staff to mask up. When I put my bag into the car, I noticed one of my to-go boxes did not even have a lid. The food smells great and I'm sure it will taste delicious. This is an update review from my visit this afternoon. I happened to be in Gig Harbor and I was going to go through a drive-through fast food place when I thought I would give this place another try. I really do like the ambience of this restaurant. It definitely looks, feels, and smells, like a barbecue joint. Wet wipes and all. They've got that nailed down like a BOSS. The customer service that you receive from the guys and gals who serve, clean, and generally work in the restaurant, is outstanding. They seem to really know how to make their customers feel at home. I love the onion, pickle, bread, soda, etc., bar. And while their barbecue sauce is pretty weak and mild, they have a sriracha sauce and mixed together is banging good! Heck, I even dip the raw onions in that mix of sauce and it makes them taste mighty good. I simply struggle with the main food items in terms of quality. I mean honestly, what really matters is the barbecue itself. And it is unfortunately so off the mark. It's super disappointing. Again, just to be clear, this is just me sharing my opinion. There are plenty of people that walked out with bags full of barbecue saying how wonderful it is and how much they love the barbeque there. Anyway, I ordered the 2 meat plate. It consisted of 3 ribs, a small thinly sliced piece of brisket, a very tiny basket of okra, and some baked beans. Again, the food was dry. The ribs this time were not burnt to a crisp like the ribs I add the first the I visited. These were actually prepared well with a nice seasoning rub on them. However, they were extremely dry and chewy...to the point of being rubbery. The brisket was a total bust. It was so overcooked and dry that it should have never been served. The okra was fine. The biggest miss for me was the beans. There was so much sugar and the portion of beans that I got, that I literally went up and asked them to trade it from more okra. I cannot understand why someone would have such a heavy hand with sugar in baked beans. All sweet no savory or other flavor. I do think that this place has potential, even though I am complaining very loudly about my personal experiences the two times that I've visited. He has to figure out how to keep the meat from drying out before serving customers. Folks like me want barbecue that tastes fresh and unfortunately his does not. read more

I'm giving this place a solid 4 because the sides weren't the best. I would definitely come back and order the potato salad. Now what really makes this place is the meat. Brisket 10/10. I've been meaning to stop by for quite some time as I heard they had vegan options. I ordered their Jackfruit BBQ, fried okra and baked beans for my family. *The baked beans are NOT vegan, there is bacon in those, just an FYI. The Jackfruit was very flavorful, but the batch I got was very salty unfortunately, almost too salty to eat (and I like salt). I was able to make it work by using less, wrapping it in tortilla and adding more vegetables. The fried okra was perfect. Great place for BBQ food with good service and staff. They offer a good menu variety and meals seem to be in a range of $8-$10 for an average meal. In addition, they don't "over smoke" the meats either, to the point that some BBQ places have left my mouth tasting liken I sucked the top of a chimney. In addition, they go easy on the salting so you can actually appreciate the quality of the meats. I have tried the pulled pork sandwiches which are great but my "go to" meal is the BBQ Boat! If you want to get a good sample of their meats, this is a good choice! It comes with pulled pork, a sausage, potato salad and beans. I think of it as a meaty banana split. In addition, it's not drenched in any sauces so you can apply what you prefer at the tables where condiments are. In addition, they also provide complimentary pickles, onions and sliced white bread. Overall, two thumbs up for great food and service. The restaurant is always clean and plenty or seating. Definitely will be a regular! read more

What a treat nerve been so sad to not find many bbq places up here, but were very excited when we happened upon BBQ2U! Offering Texas style bbq we expected options heavier on the beef side and your basic side dishes. Upon ordering the other day though, we were pleasantly surprised but the unique options they had available! Oftentimes bbq places will only do platters or sandwiches, but BBQ2U has so much more. We were looking for a late lunch option that wasn't super heavy and would be easy to eat on the go since dine-in isn't an option here. We walked in and were greeted by their super friendly and jovial staff, given excellent recommendations and customer service. I ordered the 16oz Mac and Meat with brisket. My husband the bbq boat. Total wins. The Mac was creamy, fresh and accompanied by some of the best brisket I've had in a long time. And we're from the South. The bbq bowl was the perfect sampler of their proteins and sides offered. Don't even get me started on their sauce! For one, the amount of sauce given is huge! And what flavor! This place is incredibly good. As a native Texan I was searching for good BBQ in this area and this is it. The smells and BBQ sauce are top notch. And the people are great. The brisket is really moist and flavorful. If you are in Tacoma make sure to get it from Edison's Ale House on Friday nights so you don't have to pay the Narrows toll. Only downside to that is they don't have Blue Bell at that location. read more

I had a pick up order, had their Texas Tray with brisket, pork spare ribs, and for side dish, fried pickles and banana pudding. Unfortunately the whole meal was mediocre at best. It was bland, the top layer of the brisket was the only flavor, and the meats was pretty fatty. Both brisket and spare rib was very soft and tender, that's all the pros about this food. Banana pudding, taste like something I can get from Safeway across the street. Fried pickles wasn't so bad, crispy and vinegary. Also ordered their corn bread, was dry and bland. Tasted like... bread. With my pick up order, napkins nor utensils was not provided tho that could be my fault for not selecting the option to have utensils. I was in the area looking for a quick late lunch and found BBQ2U. I ordered the brisket sandwich and fried pickles to go. Oh my Lord... the brisket was heavenly. It was smoky, tender, and falling apart... SO good! It came between sesame burger buns. The fried pickles had a heavier batter than I like but I was too full from the sandwich to eat the pickles. I saved them for later and heated them up in the air fryer for a late night snack. Will definitely be back to try the other sides, and for the brisket! read more
