The teriyaki sauce is really sweet and salty... overall it might be a good option for lunch when you're around U-District but I would not go out of my way to come here. It's worth trying at least once though, since they serve their food chipotle-style in comparison to other teriyaki places. The decor is nice too. BB's gives a lot of food for your buck, but I really wish there was an option to get half the amount of food for like $7 or something. I stopped by this place after work based on a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint. You can tell right when you walk in that it's different from the average teriyaki place in Seattle. All the food is prepared in an open kitchen right in front of your eyes. The chicken is fresh and locally sourced and it makes a huge difference. It is incredibly tender and flavorful. The spicy sauce has just the right amount of kick. I went with broccoli and cabbage salad as my side and both were delicious. On top of that, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful which made for an overall pleasant experience. My boyfriend and I were on the Ave recently and saw that BB'S had opened and decided to try it for lunch. We saw that it was fast casual style, which was cool. But there were no options, only 6 for sides and a choice between chicken or tofu for your protein. I got the regular chicken with broccoli and yakisoba, while my boyfriend got just chicken and yakisoba. The yakisoba was dry and boring, and the broccoli was just that, steamed broccoli. The chicken was overly sweet and seemed a tad under done, pieces were still slightly pink along the edges. There are better options on the Ave for teriyaki or for fast causal. I would not recommend BB'S and don't plan on returning. read more

My roommate and I are touring the restaurants on University Ave. This is the 30th place on our tour. The concept of this restaurant is pretty neat - a fully customizable teriyaki plate. It is like Chipotle for teriyaki, even the decor. We got the teriyaki plates, one with mild sauce, broccoli, soba noodles and chicken. The second was spicy sauce, broccoli, chicken, stir fry vegetables, and brown rice. The first thing that comes to mind is that the portions were enormous. Between us we had enough for 4 meals. This is totally different, you watch the cooks in action on the grill and the antibiotic free chicken is incredibly tender. BB's is an absolutely fresh take on teriyaki. The decor, with concrete, metal and wood, is clean, contemporary and inviting. The employees are very pleasant and helpful and the line moves quickly. Since I eat a low-carb diet, I often have a problem with teriyaki restaurants being too sweet. BB's offers the perfect solution for me. I ordered the regular chicken over the cabbage with a double side of broccoli. Instead of the traditional teriyaki sauce, I opted for the sambal oelek chili sauce that is offered. The chicken was tender and perfectly cooked and the broccoli was crisp just the way I like it. My husband went the more traditional route with spicy chicken and rice with the spicy sauce and a side salad. The spicy sauce is not too hot, so he achieved the perfect heat by adding some sambal oelek sauce. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I really wanted to like this place. Teriyaki with a Chipotle style pick and choose line. My largest complaint was the chicken was more fat than chicken. I wouldn't have minded paying more if they trimmed the chicken before cooking and serving it to me. I ordered the spicy chicken with regular sauce, which was perfect for my palate (not overly spicy). If you want to crank up the spice-o-meter, go for spicy chicken and spicy sauce. At the owners recommendation, I ended up mixing all of my food together- veggie stir fry and cabbage salad mixed in with the chicken and rice. Incredible! The chicken is moist, tender and perfectly flavored. None of the low grade, fatty pieces of chicken that occasionally pop up in other teriyaki places' bowls. All in all it might be the best teriyaki I've had in Seattle, and it's cheap and quick! Can't ask for much more. Definitely a new go-to place on the Ave. read more
