I like a lil Cajun spice, but am allergic to shellfish and lactose intolerant. I wanted to order the order the fish tacos, but the server couldn't tell me if the remoulade had it, and was not willing to ask. Embarrassing to try to find something that way, when you are out with your significant other. The space is what you would expect from like a Joe's Crab Shack. I lived in Louisiana, so I am very familiar with cajun food. The chicken-andoullie sausage gumbo was on point...very tasty. I took my oyster plate and had them turn it into a po'boy which was delicious...I thought it was a little pricey, but I will pay for good food. My friend had the cajun burrito which I tried and like. Awesome Cajun - Tex Mex fusion. It had all the makings for the perfect Cajun craving chow down. It's a small hole in the wall- type joint, cheap food, and "hurricanes" made with wine. I LOVED the shrimp po-boy but although it was tasty, I would not go back due to horribly slow service. The waiters all seemed like "space cadets" and we asked for several items, multiple times and STILL didn't get what we needed. More remoulade? Forget it. Drink refills? Forget it. Hot sauce? Forget it. By the time they came around with these things, my boyfriend and I were almost done with our meal. I just don't get it- this place is small so it seems like it would not be too difficult attending to the patrons' needs. 3 stars because I enjoyed the shrimp poboy and the remoulade sauce was delicious. read more

Oh! My! God! I try to eat here bi-weekly. I have tried a bunch of there stuff. Bedtime at the bayou is a win. You might not think it with being a cajun food place but the mac and cheese is the sex! I am never dissatified with this place. Yeah parking sucks and its pretty small but it gives it so much character. Just take it to go if its too full for you. I've wanted to try BB's for a year now, but I kept putting it off because from the street it looks smaller than those hole in the wall restaurants we all love. And it was so dark inside. I finally bit the bullet when craving some seafood the other day, and I'm glad I did. I loved the half and half po-boy with shrimp and fried oysters. The sandwich was huge and the cajun flavors were all there. My date had the chicken gumbo and for such a little cup, it was packed full of flavor. I also had a frozen margarita. It was decent, but all I can really say is that I didn't finish it - and that says a lot for me. The service wasn't overly impressive, but since the establishment is small, we were able to waive down our waitress whenever we needed something. Great place! First time I tried crawfish and I loved it!!! We also tried the happy hour and the margaritas were fantastic with fresh lime and agave. Just moved to Houston and we've been at BB's cafe twice and we love it! We will be going back to try other things on the menu. read more

I love this little cajun cafe! I'll admit, its a little hard to get to during rush hour, and parking could be a challenge, but the food is AMAZING!! I've only had a couple of things on the menu, but it all tastes homemade. The gumbo is amazing and so is their mac and cheese with beef. Come with a BIG appetite, because portions are big. I was excited to finally try this place but it was wayyyy over rated. I didnt think the gumbo, shrimp and grits or even the catfish po'boy was any good. They go a bit overboard with the spice. Happened to stumble upon this little place while looking for a bite to eat, glad we made the stop. We had the gumbo, red beans and rice, fried catfish platter and boudin balls. All were very good. The chicken and sausage gumbo had a really good flavor to it and the red beans and rice actually had sausage in it (which is rare)! Went there around 4 pm. The space is small, parking is limited. Seat yourself spot, was surprised they had crawfish. Even though they were 7.25 a pound which was kinda pricey i got two and 1 pound of shrimp and some Baudouin balls.The Baudouin balls were "meh" they were very chewy in texture and had no crunch. Would not order again. Then came the real dissapointment. I asked for extra spicy crawfish and shrimp. The crawfsh had the seasoning on top (ugh!) and it tastes like that Asian spice Tajin instead of cajun .Then they were luke warm and not spicy!!! and the shrimp looked and tasted like they got them from the freezer at HEB. Def waste of 40$. Might be back for the rest of the menu (since they are open 24 hr) but wont be back for the crawfish and shrimp. read more

I ordered the Bedtime in the Bayou and added catfish. The poboy was ok. The bread was soggy and extra bland. However the shrimp was very flavorful. I ended up just eating the shrimp and throwing away the rest of the poboy. I also ordered the shrimp gumbo which is spicy and delicious. I am mixed on my feelings about BB's after my second visit. Each time we had service that was subpar. The place is small and hard to get parking at (that's what she said), as well as the attention of any server. I did enjoy the food, even though I can only attest for a few items which include the Tex Virgin Fries, Bedtime Po-Boy, and Breakfast Po-Boy. I really only see myself going back to satisfy a Po-Boy craving. The service and restaurant lack any attraction that would make me return and order something else on the menu. read more

This place is da bomb. The cajun food is terrific, and maybe the best I have had on this side of the TX / LA border. Abita Turbodog in bottles - check! Crawfish etoufee, chicken & andouille gumbo, big ol' messy po-boys on crusty French bread - check, check, check!!! The restaurant itself is super cozy, with maybe 10 tables inside, and a few more outside. For being right at ground zero in Montrose (near the Westheimer & Montrose intersection), we have never had a problem parking or getting a table, though we usually come late night, since they serve food until at least midnight every night of the week. read more

M.Y. SERVICE: I have been to this location a couple times, but today 5/23/12 was the better of my experiences. A friend suggested we eat here so we drove into Montrose for a late lunch. The server, Alex, has raised the standards on what personable service is. He is friendly, knowledgeable and very engaging. My friend wanted to try the sweet tea to make sure it was not "TOO SWEET" and he readily got him a glass. If you want to come here and want good service ask for Alex and you cant go wrong. High Five to who ever hired this dude. He rocks! M.Y. FOOD: If you are a spicy food eater like I am, get the Pollo Bullets. Although they are an appetizer, they are pretty filling. The red beans and rice will light you on fire... but in a good way... Spicy but super good. Oh and the best part is they have "2 Geaux" (to go) adult beverages... WIN! M.Y. I really hope something just went wrong here. But this is my second time, so I'm thinking not. Okay so I dropped in because it was kind of late but I was more than kind of hungry. I asked about oysters, but they don't have any for serving raw. Blah. They had a special on beer and a poboy, so I got that. Well they were out of the first couple of beers I asked for (both Abita). Well after we got that worked out, I took some time to pick a poboy. The Royal St sounded good (ham, turkey, swiss, cheddar, sautéed shrimp and mushrooms with sauce, yeah!). It came... and it even looked floppy and sad. It was a flat little sandwich hiding in a short flattened baguette. I looked closer, and the meat was obviously cut off a pressed loaf. The chesse, not even melted, wasn't real cheese, it was pasteurized process cheese food product, American and swiss flavored. There was an overwhelming velveeta flavor, but when I pulled bits off, the ham and turkey were pretty flavorless on their own. The shrimp were at least tolerable, the mushrooms apparently forgot to show up, and the sauce was thin and runny. The fries were the best part of the meal. And that's not saying much. They were thin, undercooked, and lacking in flavor and crunch. This location apparently has an abbreviated menu in addition to the abbreviated quality. No beer on tap either. I know you might some time need to expand into a storefront with limited space, but do you really want to keep the same name as the full service restaurant a couple of miles away?
