Went on a hike today in Auburn, and stopped at Beach Hut Deli for lunch with my daughter. We both had the delicious Shark Bite sandwiches. They were amazing! Got to enjoy the sunshine on the patio with a cold blueberry cider. The staff were friendly and kind. I highly recommend stopping here if you are in Auburn on the 80 side, well worth it. read more

I was up in Tahoe and I stopped by this restaurant to eat, big mistake . I left my jacket there and they didn't give it back. It was just before closing and I called the next morning . I have posted on here before about how the new owners have really turned this place around. It helps as a new mom to feel so welcome with your baby. It's a space where me and my friends, who happen to be new moms feel not judged for our children. They are noisy and obnoxious. We know first hand but! Mike, Sonia and Baylee always go the extra mile to make sure we don't feel like a burden with babies. The rest of the staff is always nice. I'm now a regular thanks to this new crew. read more

Well, a Beach Hut Deli is a Beach Hut Deli. You get the same sandwich, no matter which one you go to. So, the sandwiches were as expected. What is unexpected is a restaurant refusing a $50 bill for a $48.00 order, using tbe excuse "we've had problems before". But you're under new ownership. So...spend the $4.00 & buy a counterfeit bill detector pen. They're cheap. Ill never visit this particular establishment again simply for this reason. Every single dollar denomination can be counterfeited....so the excuse is poor. I could understand not accepting a 50 for a small order under $20, but when it's $2.00 in change??!! read more

Went to restaurant off of 80 in Auburn, and my daughter ordered a gluten-free wrap because she has celiac disease. She has been horribly ill since she ate the wrap. If they can't be careful, they should not say they have gluten-free options! read more

This place is absolutely delightful. They have many excellent sandwich choices. Everything we ordered was really delicious! The customer service is top-notch, and the place is decorated to give you that total beach vibe. Absolutely worth the stop and conveniently located with EV chargers. Stopped by on a Saturday around 1:30pm and they were quite busy. We waited about 25 minutes for the 4 sandwiches we ordered for our crew. We moved to the outside seating when a table opened up and enjoyed the sunshine on a beautiful spring day. We had a Malibu, Reuben, turkey sandwich and sunrise. All were very good but the Reuben had way to much mustard on it. Next time we will request it without. Much improved food from the last time we ate here. We will be back. read more

Ordered online when I got there, they had not even started the order yet and proceeded to just chitchat with other customers instead of getting ready the salads. We also ordered two dressings and both salads did not come with these. It is just very frustrating when you see a sign out front that says new ownership, you hope that the service would be better, and you order online in hopes that they would have it ready because you have groceries melting in your car. This was our first visit to a Beach hut and we were very impressed! Such friendly service, great menu and the owner greeted us immediately. He offered to make us something that wasn't in the menu and even invited us in with our dog, who was offered a treat and water! Quick service and very clean. Will definitely visit again when we're in the area. read more

Maybe visited in a bad day but the woman who took our order was passive aggressive. Asked for the 1/2 size sandwich which is on their menu as "1/2 size" and she responded confused "you mean a 3 inch?" We replied "whatever the 1/2 size is on your menu." And showed her the menu that says "ask for 1/2 size!" She came back with a snarky "so a 3 inch". Ok. We then asked if they had Dutch crunch. She "educated" is that Dutch crunch is Mr. Pickles. Wtf? Still a good sandwich, but they definitely seemed to have started to give you a lot less for your money. Still love them. Consistently tasty sandwiches. The specials are always great. Try the Chicken Pesto or the Jammer=Holy Hell Happy Taste Buds. I've always experienced good service at this location and they seem to keep a decent pace and get the food out in a timely manner. My ONLY complaint (and it's ALL Beach Hut Deli's that I have found this to be true), is that many of the girls who work there make sandwiches with their long hair not in a ponytail. I just don't see how this is a good practice. On a couple occasions I've found a hair in my food that I believe is avoidable if they'd simply wear their hair back. Just like previous reviewers I did not eat here because of lack of masks. I visited on 8/6/2020. As I walked in I saw 2 employees behind the counter, 1 had his mask down, saw that i was looking, SCRATCHED his face and put it back on. At this point I decided not to eat here, but my friend wanted to anyway. I decided to sit and wait for her at their outdoor tables. At one point I came back in and saw that his mask was nowhere in sight, still standing around where the sandwiches were being made. I went back out, they had a group of people sitting at the other outdoor table and it seemed like they knew the employees, they were sitting there smoking (!) and with their own giant box of white claws. The "covered up" employee then came out, he was wearing a bandana over his face which is the worst type of cloth covering, especially as he's leaning over ingredients. A restaurant employee, especially at a chain should have been provided with something better. But that didn't matter, because he came outside to do something with the outdoor furniture and the bandana promptly fell off. As I was sitting in a cloud of tobacco smoke waiting for my friend to finally finish her questionable food, the unmasked guy game out and started smoking 2 feet away from the front door (I know the manager reads these based on the previous replies-- Caucasian guy with dreads and the sides and the back of his head shaved). Overall, this place seemed super trashy. SKip, and go somewhere better. In response to the manager's comment: I do not discuss the legality of the mask, however in a pandemic this is disgusting and if my reviewer helps people make an educated decision about this business, I'm glad to help. While I am sympathetic to the employee's personal issues, but pandemic or not he should not be scratching his face in a food area or smoking right outside the door. read more

We've been here many times before on the drive from Tahoe to the Bay Area. Today's sandwiches were particularly delicious. We got the California (avocado, cheese, spinach, tomatoes...). Stopped in for a quick bite to eat. We found this place on our way back from Tahoe. Reggae music was playing and TV's we're on. I ordered the Ruben and my husband ordered the Shark Bite. The Ruben was good but not outstanding. The sauerkraut was not as strong flavored as I like. The pickles were nicely chopped in the sandwich. The board on the wall is outdated. I've eaten at a lot of Beach Hut's and this one is by far the best. Every other BHD has that loud, college kid feel and is usually staffed by all bubbly annoying teen chicks. It's annoying but I love the sandwiches so no big deal. THIS Beach Hut is the real deal. They play reggae and have the Golf channel on mute all day. The owner is chill laid back dude and the staff are also just as chill. I highly recommend this location... ESPECIALLY over the other BHD in Auburn (so rude over there). The reason for the 4 star instead of a 5 is because Boss Man is the only reliable sandwich maker. When he has the day off the sandwiches are sub par at best and usually drowning in mayo. Gross. I appreciate the hardworking owner having the day off (Father's Day) but please please instill the same pride in sandwich making in the rest of the staff. read more

Terrible customer service salad was premade they claimed it was fresh. We ordered a salad with spring mic no onions and ranch dressing. It came out on a prepackaged box with onions no ranch dressing and when we asked them to fix it she opened the container and took out the onions and gave it back ask fixed. I've been to 4 or 5 different Beach But Deli's around Sacramento and have always been happy with the food. Unfortunately this Auburn location is the exception. I've been there 3 times and have been disappointed each time. Today was the worst. It took just over 30 minutes to receive our two sandwiches. My sandwich did not have the extra cream cheese I paid for so I went in to ask them to ad the cream cheese. They were nice and put the cream cheese on my sandwich as I had ordered it. Once I sat down I realized there was dust, fuzz and a couple small hairs all over both pieces of cream cheese. Rather than take it back again I decided to just throw away the cream cheese eat the sandwich. Unfortunately once I bit into the sandwich I found the roll was very dry and chewy. I guess $12 doesn't buy you a good sandwich at this place. I don't plan on going back to this Beach But location. read more
