Friends took us here for "Taco Tuesday." Nice location in historic downtown Auburn. We had no difficulty finding parking for dinner since most neighboring merchants closed at 5. The restaurant's atmosphere lives up to it's name. Decent bar area on one side with tables in front. Dining room was clean and comfortable. The entrees on the menu sounded delicious, but we came for the tacos today. I went with one pork and one fish taco. The pork was definitely my favorite but both were good. These are what I would describe as small soft street tacos with enough meat to easily fill a larger tortilla. Sides like sour cream, guacamole, and shredded cheese are 50-cents for each portion cup. Had a business lunch at The Club Car today. It was the usual ho-hum business lunch here: great service (friendly but professional), good food that can be configured as you go, the usual made-to-order chips (one of our team had crisp, one had chewy, both were delighted). After 50 years of dining all over the world, I can honestly say that, for good, honest, friendly service and good, basic bar food, the Club Car is top tier. Yesterday afternoon, I called and made reservations and I was talking to a live person. When I showed up on time at 6 PM, the door was locked and a county health department notice was posted that it had failed a number of health issues. therefore, the restaurant is temporarily permanently closed. The Club Car is a happening place to be in Auburn. They offer a large bar, a stage, and plenty of seating with friendly service all around. We split the chicken marsala and for just a small split plate up-charge you actually get quite a bit of food. There was lots of sauce on the plate and the chicken was tender and juicy. The Club Car turns out to be a great place to eat off the Main Street of cute and adorable Auburn. A friend who lives there told me about it and I was excited to try it. I've not explored Auburn much more than the obvious main stream haunts. This turns out to be more of a locals destination and my new go to when Im in Auburn. We sat at the bar which always entertaining and ordered some small plates and drinks. I regretted not ordering the home made potato chips but my waist said thank you. Lunch yesterday after golf was good. I had the Bacon, avocado burger with a green salad & per usual blue cheese dressing. About noon when we arrived & the hostess had a couple tables reserved but sat us in front section closest to the sidewalk. Service was quick and I had a frosty Knee Deep Breaking Bud draft delivered stat! Extensive food and drink menu. Burgers were cooked med as requested quality meat,so tall with all the fixings a fork was required & probably half a ripe avo made this a full meal. Salad was a good starter with arugula & a mixture of course cut veggies with extra blue cheese dressing brought pronto. Fourth visit & only suggestion would be to upgrade the heavy worm, somewhat greasy floor (especially in the entrance). My girlfriend ordered avocado bacon burger with sweet potato fries I got the western burger with a turkey patty and small size fries and oh my everything was delicious, best burger both of us have had, fries are fresh the sweet potato fries were huge pieces of sweet potato cooked to perfect. Everyone in the reviews for this place is saying it, and it is absolutely true. The food is very good. It's easy to overlook those words: "very good", But do not gloss over them. Everything that my friends and I ordered was VERY GOOD. We all ordered a different type of fry on the side and they were all VERY GOOD. This is the kind of place where every thing on the menu is VERY GOOD. It is definitely not the healthiest place you could eat at because their focus is on the food being VERY GOOD. Nevertheless, even the healthy options like the mushroom ciabatta sandwich and the zucchini fries were VERY GOOD. Toasted to a perfect crisp, buttery, freaking delicious. The restaurant itself has a local charm. The ambiance is dictated by what the locals need, not the city people coming in to rent a lake house for the weekend (myself, my boyfriend, and his tech friends). It's refreshing to be somewhere that feels more like a genuine small town tavern than a flashy restaurant that covers itself in flowers and sculptures to be a photoshoot op for you and your girlfriends. I stopped in here with some friends. The wait wasn't too bad, and we were seated right away and placed our orders. I will say the portions are very generous, and I wasn't even sad that they didn't have a gluten-free bun for their burgers. I didn't even need it. I got the regular fries, which I could not finish, but they were really good. The only issue was that it was a bit hard to get service when we wanted drink refills. It took about 10 minutes. The Club Car is a nice spot to grab a bite or a drink in upper old town in Auburn CA. If I lived in Auburn, I could see myself making this my go to hangout spot. Asian sweet wings and Asian chicken salad were both very good. I would definitely get those wings again for sure. Loved the sweet heat on them. Service was good. I would recommend the 4 seat table to the left of the stage, I would put a small table for 2 people there. They have live music as well. Unfortunately we were only able to hear 2-3 songs as we had to keep on schedule. Ordered the miso salmon which was delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked - tender and flakey, the miso dressing/sauce was flavorful, not overpowering and the sauteed veggies hit the spot to round out the entree. Brenda is incredible! She always gives the best suggestions, she basically choose our whole dinner last time (based on our cravings and appetite) and her recommendations were perfect! Their "fat" fries are the best french fries anywhere! Pillowy soft inside, crisp outside and salted just the right amount. The Arugula salad with Burrata cheese, prosciutto and walnuts with added steak is the PERFECT entree-sized dinner salad. The coconut shrimp with mango sauce is an incredible starter! I typically come to this place during the day. The last three times I have came here I have had the worst experience. I've had the same waitress every time who gives absolutely horrible service. I went in with my 80 year old mother and we waited about 15 minutes for her to greet us and take our drink order. Then another 15 minutes for her to take our food order. Her attitude was snarky and horrible the whole time and heard her raise her voice at the hostess who was busy doing her job unlike this lady. We ended up with two soggy steak salads and an overly expensive bill. The waitress's name is Brenda and I heard that she is the manager. If I could give this place zero stars I would.. If you eat here avoid sitting up front unless you want god awful service. read more

Their Asian wings are to die for the best anywhere in Placer or Nevada county. Everything on their menu is made fresh and is great. Their cocktails are wonderful and their house wines are even fabulous. I've been going here for at least 20 years. They used to have lasagna Mondays and they used to have such great happy hours with burgers and stuff. That's all changed now. I certainly wish they could just bring back one of them happy hour burgers or Monday night lasagna make it 10 bucks! That would make the place incredibly as good as it used to be.! read more

I loved this place and customer service was outstanding and wanted to give a shout-out to Shauna. She was very polite and took our order and the food was good. She checked on us and was very friendly. I ordered the warm Goat Cheese Sandwich. The warm goat cheese was served with sliced Roma tomatoes with garlic and olive oil served open face on ciabatta bread topped with caper-basil blend and fresh basil. The bread was very soft and fresh. I think however, I would of preferred a crunchy bread, but it was very good. My husband ordered the Bacon Avocado cheeseburger and a salad with blue cheese. He said it was very delicious and the meat was cooked just like he liked it. This Is a must stop in when you're in the Auburn area for good food, great bar and the IPA was delicious. The Club Car is an American and Italian restaurant and bar, located in downtown Auburn, CA, that not only offers delicious lunch and dinner, but craft beer on tap, a full service bar and... live music nearly every day of the week. Over the years, The Club Car has become a go-to entertainment and dining venue for Auburn locals, and all those who appreciate amazing food and great entertainment. As you enter the restaurant, there's dining on each side of you, and the bar, and main dining room at the center. There are several television monitors which were tuned to sports, reflection on NFL football, and the Chiefs vs. Eagles football game the previous evening. It was great to sit at the bar and enjoy the recap of last night's football game, as I was especially happy about the Eagle's win. The sign at the bar listed the current beers on tap, which are dynamic, as the tap choices constantly change. I started at the top, and went for the Societe Brewing Company "The Pupil" IPA, which made a delicious choice to enjoy with my burger. From the "Burgers" section of the menu, I went with a "Classic Burger," along with an order of fries. The menu lists "skinny" or "fat" fries, but my hostess didn't ask me about my choice of fries, so I assume the fries were on the skinny side. The menu describes this amazing burger as, "House-seasoned and hand-crafted char-broiled 8 oz choice beef patties served on a grilled bun. You choice of soup, salad or fries - skinny or fat - potato chips or coleslaw." What a choice! As I placed my order, my friendly hostess, Christina asked how I wanted my meat patty cooked, and I went with medium, which is my de facto standard for a hamburger patty. It is truly a pleasure to be asked how you prefer your meat to be cooked! All hamburgers, along with the "Classic Burger" from Club Car are based on the bun, and the bun was large, fresh, and offered the perfect bun-to-meat ratio, which is crucial for a good cheeseburger. No worries on this part, as the talented chef at Club Car "nailed" the meat-to-bun ratio on the "Classic Cheeseburger." As per my request, my 8-oz patty of house-seasoned, char-broiled beef arrived, cooked perfectly medium, as per my request. Oh my! ... the meat patty was flavorful, juicy and amazingly delicious, and held together as I enjoyed my delicious burger. The red onion, sliced tomato and lettuce were fresh, and simply delicious. I opted for a slice of cheese - Cheddar - and it topped the meat patty, was melted perfectly and added just the right touch to this delicious "Classic Burger." As an aside, the burger was simply delicious as served, and didn't need any enhancement from the mustard, which was served on the side, or anything else, as it was "standalone delicious" and was truly one of the best burgers I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy during my countless dining adventures in Placer County. The fries - "skinny" or "fat?" - I wasn't asked by my hostess, whatever they were named... as the fries were simply delicious and made for an amazing side dish to my meal. They were cut like "old school drive-in fries," fried to a crispy golden brown on the outside, but tender, white and juicy on the inside. "Fat" or "Skinny..." whatever their name, as whey were simply delicious fries and made for the perfect side.! The "kid" inside of me had me dip my fries in ketchup, which I admit is a childish transgression on my part, but I simply can't help it. Add this all up: Delicious meat patty, fresh bun, fresh, crispy vegetables, along with a small mountain of delicious fries, and you have a "Classic Burger," which rates as one of the finest burgers served in Placer County. Burger lovers... you'll love the "Classic Burger," served at Club Car, in downtown Auburn. Alright... I arrived at "opening time," so I didn't get to enjoy the live, sometimes loud music. However, I enjoyed one of the best burgers in Placer County, so I rate The Club Car as 5-star dining in every way. read more

Nice little spot in old town Auburn. The hubby and I were craving steak after having lots of sandwiches and fast food on our road trip. We saw that The Club Car was not far away and the menu looked good. Service was great. I had the New York. It was perfectly cooked and very tasty.
