Very cute cafe in Nob Hill/Financial District area. Perfect for grabbing a coffee or meal and catching up with a friend. It's a small cafe but it's super cozy and gets a lot of light! I was really excited to try the bulgogi sandwich but they were out of bread. So I got a salmon bagel instead. I would love to come back and try the bulgogi one one day. read more

This place makes great coffee. Ordered an iced latte, and it was good. However, we ordered 2 bacon egg and cheeses on bagels, and they came out with a sausage egg and cheese. The employee actually gave us a new one for free to correct it. It was good customer service. read more

Upon walking in, I saw sticky notes saying that they were out of bagels - big bummer :(. Luckily, they have plenty of sandwich options (including vegetarian options!). I ordered the "Mina's Veggies" sandwich. First of all, the sandwich is huge considering the price; it could easily be split between two people as a light breakfast or lunch. The sandwich was full of fresh veggies and fruits (I was initially thrown off about apple slices being in the sandwich, but it ended up delicious). The bread was a tad stale, but it was still delicious. The service was excellent. I informed the cashier that I needed half of the sandwich to-go, and he happily wrapped my sandwich! They also have self-serve water / water cups, so you can easily refill your own water bottle. read more

This super cute cafe is 100% worth a stop for a quick, casual brunch before going out exploring! It was already busy when we stopped in so we knew it was going to be good. You order at the counter and are given a number, we were lucky enough to find a table. They have a good amount of seating, but it took a bit of waiting since it was pretty busy around 11am. My brother and I split the bul go gi beef sandwich and one of the daily special breakfast sandwiches. Both were amazing, super flavorful on the best crunchy bread! Our coffees were delicious as well, this place is definitely staying on my list for next time I'm in the area! read more

Got the bulgogi sandwich for lunch and was very impressed. It was the perfect fusion sandwich - bulgogi and sandwiches are such a great combo! The sandwich had a good amount of juicy bulgogi and I particularly loved the pickled cucumbers, which I thought was the perfect complement. Theres ~2 tables outside which is where I prefer to sit when the weather is nice / to people watch :) read more

Have I been living under a rock? Feel free to call me Patrick star, because I had no idea there was such a thing as a Kraegel!?? & boy have I been missing out. PSA: the Kragel will sell out so run, don't walk! Hot or not? Bacon kraegel: 10/10 bites bacon, egg, no cheese, added Mayo and avocado. Bagel bread with fluffy buttery croissant shell. Very tasty. Delicious and not at all what I expected when told about the kraegel by my local sister. Sausage Kragel: 9/10 bites this one kind of fell apart because the sausage patty was sliced up and bits kept falling out. But tasty. Side of bacon: 9/10 bites thick crisp well cooked not to crispy. Just right. Iced Matcha: 4/10 sips chunky, kept stirring and it was not a nice consistency powdery and chunks. Caramel cappuccino: 8/10 sips very sweet. Parked up the street. We arrived at a good time there wasn't a line but shortly after we sat the line was out the door. The Kragel sold out a few orders after us but it was a very popular item. Cragel with bacon egg cheese $10.75 - just good, not great. Expected bigger for the price. Cragel was good but nothing to really write home about. I preferred my $6 croissant breakfast sandwich at fresh brew coffee down the street from the day before. Lox bagel $9.50 - bfs first time having a lox bagel. He said it was refreshing. I didn't see much salmon or cream cheese, as I'm used to seeing them loaded with that instead of with lettuce and tomatoes. Iced latte $5 - your typical latte, not too sweet or bitter. I did appreciate that there wasn't too much ice in it and actually more coffee. Got busy in the morning. Fast service. There are some seats, but we snagged the last one. I needed some coffee and decided to visit Beanstalk Cafe as it was near my hotel in Nob Hill. My husband isn't a breakfast person so I went solo. I made the trek down to Bush street via Powell and found it next to Sons & Daughters. I walked in, took a quick look at the menu and decided on a Cragel (croissant/ bagel hybrid) breakfast sandwich with bacon. I also ordered a latte. I didn't want anything super fancy but on other days I would have liked to have tried their cold brew. Their cold brew appliance looked awesome. I asked for it to go but I ended up eating it in its entirety. I was famished I guess. The cragel had eggs, cheese, and bacon inside and it was served warm. It was really good. The latte was standard so I added my raw sugar to it and took a big sip. Instant pick-me-up, which was what I needed. Good service and a solid menu. Great little cafe with a good matcha latte and bulgolgi sandwich, but nothing out of the ordinary. There's only a few tables so it fills up quickly. Ambiance is a bit dingy with dim lighting and really really low music. I would come again and get the food and drinks to go. read more

Delicious and fresh sandwiches here and there's so many to choose from! This place was walking distance from our hotel so we decided to check it out and I am glad that we did! The interior is a bit small, but it truly adds to the "home-y" feel of the place. It's not fast since there are only two people working, but you do get a fresh and delicious sandwich that will fill you up! read more

Climbed up the hill for this cute little sandwich shop. My friends and I ordered the different sandwiches, and I gotta say, the sandwiches were absolutely delicious. The server advised us to get any of the pesto, and the turkey pesto on their made bread was absolutely delicious. I could've eaten fifty more sandwiches. The inside felt cozy, but we were able to find a place to sit on Friday noonish, would definitely come back! read more

Headed to the neighborhood to try out a famous bakery nearby--- the line was obscene so we found this place instead! And what a treat! We had a delicious bagel and breakfast sandwich. Stopped in this cafe to grab a quick breakfast while on a weekend trip to San Francisco. I had read reviews on Yelp and had to try the cragel sandwich. I arrived around 10am and the place was pretty busy. To my surprise the sandwich came out rather quickly. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese cragel. It was very tasty, but my only complaint is that I wish they had jelly or some type of sauce to put on the sandwich because it was sort of dry. Outside of that it was an excellent sandwich and a good experience at the cafe. I would definitely return and try more items next time I'm in town. read more

Small but busy cafe in Union Square! Loved the interiors and coffee. One of the few good breakfast places that shows up when I search for "tofu". I expected to find a brunch menu but they had a limited menu. The dishes seem to have a Korean influence and that shows in the amazing flavors. Got the spicy chicken sandwich and skinny tofu sandwich, both had the protein marinated in kimchi flavor - for the skinny tofu sandwich the taste got monotonous very quickly. The sandwiches also were huge, both the bread and stuffing as well - bread was hard to bite into and chew. Would love to try going there again to check out other non-tofu menu items. read more

This cafe will always have my heart. I used to live here on bush st and would come here frequently to work. There's decent amount of seating, good breakfast sandwiches (bagels!), and pretty good coffee. The staff is super nice and they will answer all your questions. It's definitely a good working cafe as they have wifi, but there are no outlets. The ambiance does give very studious/hard working vibe. Today, I got the iced matcha which wasn't sweet (but I didn't ask for it to be either) but the matcha also wasn't that strong of a flavor. I would recommend their chai lattes or any other lattes over the iced matcha. Additionally, the sandwiches are super good as well as the bagels but note that there are no cream cheese flavors, just plain. Overall love this place, it's super good and reliable. Definitely worth checking out! read more

Beanstalk Cafe near Union Square blew me away. I got the Iced Espresso Cola, and it was probably one of the best iced coffees I've ever had, and I do not even usually like coffee that much. The balance of flavor and refreshing kick was just perfect. I also appreciated the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that made it easy to get some work done on my laptop. Great vibes, friendly staff, and a cozy spot in the middle of SF. Definitely a coffee spot worth checking out. read more

They had amazing service !! Came to town and just stopped by and I was serviced by 2 lovely men. my mom ( only Spanish speaking ) adored that they also spoke Spanish and she felt even more welcome . we both got food and a coffee and both were 5/5 stars ! also witnessed a needy & ignorant client and they handled the altercation so calmly and in my eyes did exactly what should have been done. they remained calm and found a solution to the matter. This was the one place I keep going back to... the coffee was good! And I'm picky about coffee (prefer the small shops and not large burnt overly sweet drinks). I had the cappuccino and macchiato. Each time - it was consistent and oh so good. Ordered food each time - tried a variety of the breakfast sandwiches. Each one was fracking amazing. Seriously regretted not going here every day as the other near by places paled in comparison. It's a cozy place that fills up on the weekends. Great energy and people were mainly accommodating of one another. The folks working there were fantastic. There were long lines - newbies like who had lots of questions which were patiently answered. I was really curious what a "Cragle" is? After having tried one; it's the solution for when a bagel is too dense, but a croissant is too flaky. In conclusion Cragles are the superior breakfast sandwich choice. In addition they have a decent coffee selection from espressos to pour overs to slow dripped cold brews; passes the vibe check for a demi coffee snob like me. Besides that this is a cute and cozy spot for casual breakfast or brunch, and I can see myself being a regular here. read more

Cute little coffee shop that was very popular this morning. Easy enough to get in and order to-go if there aren't any tables available. I thought they ran very efficiently for the volume of people coming through and their space. We ordered the veggie bagel and crando sando with no meat. It all came out delicious and the veggies were fresh. I enjoyed the drip coffee and thought it had a good flavor - definitely on the medium to strong side of coffee roasts - but it still hit the spot. read more

This is a nice little coffee shop that is great for a fast bite and a drink. They offer a number of breakfast bagels and sandwiches and will get it out to you relatively quickly. I had the standard breakfast bagel with bacon egg and cheese which was pretty good but I wish I had gotten their special sandwich of the day that my friend got which looked fantastic. Our party of 2 arrived at opening on a Friday and ordered 2 lattes ($4.95 each) and 2 crogel sandos ($10.75 each). Everything was delicious. This was our first time having a croissant-bagel sandwich and it was exactly what we imagined it would be. It was softer than a bagel with the delicious buttery-ness of a croissant. We were about half an hour into our breakfast when we noticed the shop beginning to fill up. There are about 5 or so tables inside and a couple outside. By the time we left it was a full house so get there early! read more

I was surprised there was no explanation provided with the coffee- I figured it's all Honduran but an overview of some sort would have helped. I enjoyed all the coffees in there except the latte. Will visit again, earlier in the day so they are not out of their best sellers and try a different order.

I have gone to Blackbird a handful of times and have enjoyed the experience each time. Blackbird is primarily a bookstore, but they do have an outdoor window where you can order drinks ranging from matcha (Rocky's Matcha, if you're curious about which brand they use), lattes, and tea. They also carry a good amount of pastries (even mid-day, they have a lot of goodies), which I really appreciated. When you order your drink, you have to enter inside the bookstore to wait for your drink to be called, but you can take the time to stroll around and look at their book selection and trinkets. Heads up: the seating here is limited but very lovely. Inside, there are a couple of community tables, but their outdoor area is absolutely magical, with lush greenery and benches for you to enjoy your drinks. This time around, I got one of their seasonal drinks, a honey lavender vanilla latte, and I paired it with an Earl Grey olive oil loaf. The portion of the pastry was generous and moist, while the icing was not too sweet. Overall, a great pick for a cafe if you're in the area.

I've…read moreheard this place has one of the best katsu sando around and as a lover of Katsu, I couldn't skip it. There's some good places in SF like Cafe Okawari. But Katsu is really becoming the new hype of the day for Japanese food, following the Sushi, Ramen, Japanese Curry, Katsu trend. So I came in with a critical view. I feel like Yoshoku in general may be next but I yet again digress. The box sandwich came in a cute little box. The inside was packed so I couldn't get a chance to fully appreciate the cafe, but the service was nice though the pay line may have moved slower than hoped. I'll say this. This is "the" best katsu sando in the bay. The katsu is crispy, but little on the softer side. But this hardness matches perfectly with the absolutely tender, soft, juicy pork wrapped inside. I'm looking at the menu again and it all makes sense. The pork has been in shio koji, making the meat ever so tender while adding the subtle but complicated marinated flavor. The cabbage is plenty, but not over packed to take away from the main Katsu flavor. What really perfects it for me, was not only the sweet and savory katsu sauce, but the mayo with dash of I think a karashi mustard. That slight tingle, the perfect kick gives a powerful awakening of flavor that really sets the it apart. This is art, an artisan. Culinary art is the refuge no raging rampant AI slop "art" can ever hope to touch. Until the day we get some cyborg implant to our brain into gustatory, olfactory functions. Even then, I don't think any tasteless tech bro are hopeless to create anything unique or beautiful.

Overall, a nice little tea shop to pick out a good quality matcha beverage, light Japanese style breakfast / brunch, or a sweet treat. Clean and quiet ambience inside with friendly staff.

They used a strawberry cream top instead of a puree, which I actually enjoyed. It added a nice creaminess to the drink, and the matcha was very smooth and strong. It worked well together. I also tried their double hojicha, and while I enjoyed how nutty and strong the hojicha was, I did find it a little bit grainy. I wish it was a little smoother like the matcha was. I usually don't drink/like coffee, but the guava cold brew sounded so interesting I couldn't resist. The fruity jasmine tea somehow paired so well with the coffee and made it a nice refreshing drink. I was also lucky enough to try the matcha crepe cake, which I believe they get from Lady M. It had really nice layers and was light, but unfortunately it was a little too sweet for me. Overall a very solid matcha/coffee option in SF. They have a beautiful interior too, perfect for catching up with friends. Servers were sweet as well!

The pastries are all flaky and crispy, and you can tell they were crafted by a true craftsman. I think what makes Juniper so special is the selection of unique flavors they have. My favorite being their award-winning Cubano croissant, their black sesame kouign amann, and their choux pastries. I do want to call out how much I appreciate the amount of savory pastries they have since I don't always want a sweet treat the moment I wake up. To note, Juniper is typically busy, but I have never waited in line for more than 10 minutes, even on weekends. They also have a lot of tables for seating, but because of the flow of people, it might be difficult to find a spot. Stop by here if you're around the area! They are also a sister shop of Saint Frank, so you can get some coffee while you're here as well.

The workers are quick and efficient and it's clear that despite having a robust menu and being quite busy they've got an excellent system going to make sure fresh pastries are coming out reasonably fast. The interior is more industrial and small and definitely more of a grab and go, or sit down for a quick few bites type of vibe. My friend and i got a few things to try, but the standouts were the mulberry danish, and the kimchi bacon Danish. All the pastries were crisp, with many buttery layers and were clearly well made but these two had the most flavor and stood out as offerings that are a bit more unique compared to other bakeries in the city. We also tried the black sesame kouign amann, which was more reminiscent of a morning bun type pastry, and the cubano and the ham and cheese croissants, which were good but just lacking a little in flavor. Overall, Juniper has excellent pastries, and I'll definitely be sure to grab a plain croissant next time to try it out as well - some pastries pack a bit more flavor than others but given how quickly the like moves I'll definitely be back again to try some of their othering offerings soon!
