Usually order sandwich but for some reason it always takes forever and I do mean always take forever to get my sandwich. For example, there was only one other person who ordered a sandwich and again it took forever for a simple grilled sandwich. The sandwich taste great by the way. You just have to have plenty of time to wait for your order. I frequent this place in support of our local family run eateries. So make sure you've got time. Probably one of the best donuts of my life. Worth driving to and discovering yourself. Most other donuts have a clingy, chemical aftertaste from your big donut stores. Ok this was my first time coming to this place, the staff was courteous answered my questions all was good with the staff. Now for the food, I had a breakfast sandwich, I think the hibernator and it was fantastic. I could only eat half of the sandwich, very yummy, worth the price. I would not have wanted the black pepper on my eggs since I am not a fan of black pepper but other than that it was super. I would suggest staff to ask the customer if they want black pepper on their eggs. But it was very tasty just got a little too spicy for me because I don't eat spicy stuff but I'm sure for everyone else it's perfect. I will totally come back. My son plays baseball down the street at the park. My husband said a guy at my son's baseball practice told him this place has the best maple bacon donuts. Sooooooo we went this morning before my son's game. We waited for the maple bacon donut to be fried to perfection. O M G! This is the best donut I have ever had! For real! I ordered certain donuts for my daughters birthday and when I picked them up they didn't have them ready so I waited, then they were squishing them (2 dozen) into one box so I asked if they could please not squash them and use more than one box..... when I was ready to set them out for her birthday 9 donuts were not what I ordered ! Really solid cafe! Came here the other day with my girlfriend around 7am before the start of our day to try this place out and it didn't disappoint. We ordered a cinnamon bread (not sure the name) a vanilla latte and a breakfast sandwich (it had sausage, egg, cheese and was on sourdough bread. The staff here was very friendly and the place has a very cozy feel to it all. The latte was great! Made just right and it wasn't too sweet. The pastry my girlfriend got was really good and was light. The sandwich was amazing though! It was so good and packed with so much food. The only gripe was since it was early they got sort of packed as soon as I got there so we had to wait close to 10-15 minutes for the sandwich. One of my favorite family owned businesses. They make the best cupcakes (to order) in the area; better than the local cupcake bakeries. My wedding cake even came from them. (Thanks again, Terri & Mike) The pastries are great, especially the cheese stars and the baby bear claws. They have a will menu of coffee drinks also. It's a great place for lunch too, with deli sandwiches, paninis, daily soups and specials like lasagna and pizza occasionally. Skip Starbucks and Pete's and come here! I've been coming here as far back as my memory allows me to recall (I'm nearly 30) and quality is the one thing that has never changed. Today I came in for the first time in a very long while and was immediately greeted by a sweet young girl, enthusiastic to craft a chai and mocha for me. They only carry half and half, 2%, soy and almond milks - I was disappointed because I love whole milk. This young lady offered to mix the half and half and 2% as a substitute! You don't get that sort of service anymore! I would have been okay with settling for 2% and would have been none the wiser about the creamy compromise that I received instead. My mocha was delicious!!! Not too sweet, and just enough chocolate. If you like whip, make sure to request it because it is an additional 75 cents. Now to the pastries. Oh my! Who knew that heaven could fit into a pastry case? I settled upon sugar, chocolate, and crumb twists, a chocolate bar, a glazed old fashioned, two mini turnovers, and a bacon and egg croissant thing (per recommendation of the other sweet, helpful girl working this morning). If you are a fan of chocolate on your doughnuts, THIS IS THE PLACE! The best I've ever had. The chocolate bars are like bricks of deliciousness. My breakfast croissant thing was pretty tasty, too. It flashed me back to the breakfast sandwiches that my high school cafeteria made. That probably is not the best comparison because I'm sure some people are repulsed by cafeteria food. Just trust me, it's good. Not flaky and buttery like a traditional croissant; more of a pastry/hot pocket type dough. To recap: I bought a small coffee, medium mocha, medium chai latte, breakfast sandwich, three twists, two small turnovers, a chocolate bar and a glazed old fashioned and it cost me $23. I know for a fact that at Starbucks you will spend way more than that as the drinks alone would cost almost $15, and each pastry is at least $2 and the breakfast sandwiches are $3 or so? Do the math on that . . . Plus their service usually leaves me feeling less than human. The Bear Claw is a LOCAL, FAMILY OWNED business! The service here is excellent and the coffee and pastries are delicious. Worth the small detour (5 minutes off the freeway) Exit Pinole Valley Road and check them out!!! read more

We were referred to the owner, Terry, who was out but called us back within a half hour -- from her home. "Hi Terry. We have an extraordinary request, and we hope you can help us. We need a two-tiered white circular cake, with flowers, enough to serve about 30 people ... and we need it by Friday morning." "Not a problem. I'm glad to help. I'll email you shortly -- send some pictures for reference & we'll figure this out." Amazing, right?! Sure enough, after a few more exchanges, we arrived at Bear Claw on Friday with the most gorgeous, perfect cake for my sister-in-law's surprise reception party. It was exactly what we wanted, and the quality exceeded our expectations considering the three day deadline! It was delicious & fresh, with vanilla frosting on the outside & fresh strawberries inside with a light whipped cream. Terry even decorated the cake with fresh orchids, because we told her they were one of the bride's favorite flowers. The price was very fair, coming in under the budget that we had set for ourselves. Our cake was just perfect, and the two tiers made the difference between a surprise party and a surprise wedding reception. We were incredibly pleased with the quality of work done by Terry and her staff. They really went above & beyond to accommodate our difficult request & seemingly impossible deadline.
