Come here a lot for work lunches and it's always good! A bit noisy but to be expected it's always crowded! The service is great, friendly waitstaff and hostesses. Make sure to always have a reservation or be willing to wait (I've seen anywhere from 20-60 min wait). The whipped feta app is delicious. I enjoyed lunch here recently and had a great experience. Of note, Beatrix has a cafe style area with bakery items, coffee, etc, and separate menus for meals. The restaurant was buzzing for lunch when I got there but we experienced attentive service and kind check-ins. Amongst the 4 of us that went, we ordered one starter, a main course each, and coffees at the end of our meal. I tried the hot honey brussel sprouts as the appetizer - these were a great way to start of the meal! For my main course, I ordered the wild mushroom teriyaki bowel and I can't recommend this enough! Especially if you are vegetarian, this is a hearty meal that is very well seasoned and the balance of the teriyaki sauce, rice, varied mushrooms, cashews, etc is incredible! Food, drinks, and pastries are all good! We came in on a Saturday (group of 5) and were seated pretty quickly. We ordered cocktails which were all good. The pisco was a bit sweet for me, but that's the passion fruit in it. The brussel sprouts are a must! The avocado ceviche is also good. Can't miss spot in Streeterville. A nice menu full of fresh options. Their brunch is very nice, the bacon, cheddar and egg sandwich is great, with thick slices of bacon. The Migas scramble is a nice combo of veggies, spices and eggs. The shashouska is also very yummy. The green chili and chicken enchiladas are a nice option for lunch. Love! Had dinner here and it was delicious! I was able to try the brussel sprouts, enchiladas, and rigatoni. The brussel sprouts were my favorite! They had such a good crisp. Service was overall good. I think initially they thought maybe we were just there for drinks and an app, but actually there for dinner as well. I've heard nothing but good things about Beatrix, so I was excited to finally stop in. The ambiance is cute, clean, and modern. Our server was friendly. The food was mediocre. I got the shakshouka, and my boyfriend got the eggs your way. I usually like shakshouka a lot, and our server recommended it--however I felt it was somewhat bland. I needed hot sauce on it to add some flavor, but I would not get this dish again. He had no complaints about the eggs your way, but--it's a simple dish and hard to mess that one up. We did get some of their fresh squeezed juice with our breakfast, which we both appreciated and would get again. I guess they were trying to be artsy by putting the kale underneath but it ruins the whole dish. My friend ordered an egg breakfast but she said the potatoes were undercooked and the eggs tasted funny. They were extremely busy which is a good thing but after receiving the bill the server disappeared so I took the bill up to the front desk to try to pay (and told them we had a plane to catch) but the hostesses said they couldn't help and just sort of stood there. While in the Streeterville area, I passed by Beatrix and decided to stop in. Several friends had spoken highly of it and I wanted to see what made it fascinating to them. I ordered avocado and jalapeño toast, which reminded me of avocado toast I had in Charleston, SC, which was the best I've had since it became a fad. It was definitely worth ordering. The scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, and brown sugar bacon that I also ordered tasted great. Because the eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon came with toast, my server substituted in the avocado toast so I didn't have to pay full price. That made it that better. Table service was outstanding. Getting a seat didn't take long and the restaurant adheres to COVID guidelines. Whenever I am in the Magnificent Mile or Streeterville vicinity, I will definitely go back to Beatrix. read more

Definitely make reservations as I think there's extra foot traffic from being located in Northwestern Memorial. I left my credit card here and needed to come back to pick up. Stopped in shortly before 9 am and it was packed! My only disappointment was they were out of a few of the cocktails I wanted to try. I went with my standby -- the espresso martini. To start, we got the hot honey brussels sprouts. Super yummy and wished there was more :-) for dinner, I got a healthy portion of the lemon and garlic chicken. It came with the kennebec fries with feta (basically Greek fries!). My hubby got the salmon and said it was delicious (the portion seemed a bit small in my opinion). For dinner, we shared the coconut mango chia pudding. That's our standby dessert here--one can never go wrong with this choice!! read more

The atmosphere is nice, staff are friendly and they take Covid precautions by enforcing masks regardless of how busy they are, so that's good that they care for their customers. I had the chicken tinga, it was too greasy for my like. My friend had the burger and fries, the burger was so juicy and the fries tasted fresh, her burger dish was really good. I also tried their matcha with honey and ginger syrup, it's really good, only it's over sweetened even after you ask for it to be easy on the sweetness. In both times I tried it. I also tried their malted hot mocha, which was below average in flavor. So it's a hit or miss, but I would still go back for the items that were a hit. read more

Came here with my immediate and extended family while on a trip to Chicago. The place reminds me a bit of a hotel lobby, but a fancy hotel. The service was a bit pretentious for what this place was, but overall friendly. The food was what I consider "fancy American" and tasted good. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. People got beef burgers, mushroom burgers, Chicken Tenders, and a quinoa bowl. Their menu really does have something for everyone and from what I could tell, it is all made well. The real issue is that in a city full of amazing restaurants, how do you stand out? This was a great place to stop when you really need food right away near by, but it wouldn't be my #1 pick if I had time to choose. read more

Stopped in for lunch here. We didn't have a reservation so we had a small wait. After we were seated our server arrived pretty quickly to ask about drinks. I got an Irish coffee and it was GOOD! Liquor with a splash of coffee. I'm so used to them being watered down, so it was a nice surprise. Hubby got the braised beef pappardelle and I got a chicken sandwich with a gluten free bun. Both were d.e.l.i.ci.o.u.s!!!! Our server seemed to have a large area to tend to, so we had to flag him down for some help. There wasn't any other staff wandering around either, but there were plenty standing around by the check in station. Not sure what that was about but we weren't the only people that noticed. I really really thought about this one a lot. Let me first go into the pros here. The food was delish and plated nice. Really looked and tasted fresh. Staff was friendly and my waiter had great recommendations. Here is why I knocked off 2 stars: 1- The fact that there was a tiny inch worm looking worm actively moving on the cheese on the side dish of the blackened fish tacos. I spotted it pretty fast as it was the only thing actively moving g on my plate. 2-The response. So when this happens, I flag the waiter down and let them know. I don't make any scene or ask to talk to mangers or anything. I want to see what the restaurant does. The waiter takes the side dish bowl. Looks at it. Sees the worm and says "don't fret, I'll get you another one". Doesn't take my whole meal away. Just the bowl. Ok. Waiter then comes back and says that these things happen when fresh cilantro comes in and some worms don't get washed out. Waiter gives me a new side and tells me that they took a microscope to the dish and can confirm no worms. I didn't eat the side dish. At the end of the meal, the waiters stated they removed the dish from the bill. I was left wondering what else had cilantro in dishes. Was that poke bowl made from the same cilantro? Why wasn't the whole fish taco plate removed? Again, great tasting food. But the experience fell short when there was a hicup with the food presented. I think at a baseline, the food should be completely removed from the table. Not the component. I dare say all the food. There was 2 customers here. Either way, it would take a bit to come back. Had this experience not happened, 5 stars for sure. It's a blip meant to be taken with a grain of salt. read more
