They have a full page of $15 wines. We tried a red of the list and it was very decent. All of the food was extremely delicious and fresh. This is a restaurant created by the famed chef Lidia. I didn't watch her shows by my friends love her. They have a pretty good sized menu but they're famous for a three pasta of the day special that comes with a ceasar salad and basically all you can eat pasta. The pastas were good but not exceptional. Yesterday was linguini with clams, farfale and red sauce and spinach ravioli. They were all good but nothing particularly special. We were there for a birthday and the deserts were amazing. They also had a sampler plate that was awesome. I also loved the starters with white bean hummus. The staff was great. read more

This was our favorite meal during our 3 nights in NYC at Christmas. We ate here after seeing a matinee. We walked in and the place was PACKED. There was no where to stand and wait and the tables are really close together, which is why I am giving 4 stars. It's a very loud atmosphere, where you are hearing what all the tables near you are talking about. Thankfully, because we had a reservation we did not have to wait. I feel bad for the tables by the hostess stand because they have someone standing right at their table probably the entire meal... I think they have such a great concept for food- they are known for their 3 pasta special which comes with a caesar salad (a bit over dressed but ok). They have servers bringing each of the 3 pastas out and you can have as many as you would like. I ordered that as my meal. I loved 2/3 and liked the 3rd on the night we were there. My daughter went with Chicken Parm, which does not come with pasta. The piece of chicken is the entire plate- she ate about 1/3 of it (which is a bit of a waste of food). She'd have preferred half the chicken and a small side of pasta with it, but it did not come with any pasta. Not sure if it was because it had been sitting, but the chicken was a little tough and breading soggy- I would rate that dish a 3/5. We would have loved dessert but we were so stuffed and we had been out since before 9AM and we were just ready to go back to the hotel. Surprised at how unremarkable this place was considering its pedigree. We started with the INSALATA CESARE. Way too much Dijon mustard in it. It was all I could taste. Then we had the VONGOLE GRATINATE (Baked Clams with Bread Crumbs and Oregano). Way too much bread, not nicely browned, and way too much oregano. We followed that with SINFONIA DI PASTE: PASTICCIATA alla Bolognese with Bechamel, MEZZI RIGATONI with Tomato & Fresh Basil, PAPPARDELLE with Stinging Nettle Pesto and Green Beans. The only one of the three that I enjoyed was the Mezzi Rigatoni. The Pasticciatta was an overwhelming lump on the plate. I only took one bite and the Pappardelle was flavorless. For dessert we had the Panna Cotta which was delicious although the menu said it came with seasonal fruit. I have no clue what the yellow pieces of fruit in syrup were, but I didn't care for it. All around the food was a big disappointment for all the hype but our waitress was excellent. As for the men who were slopping the paste on our plates, they need work. read more

We ordered the Beef Carpaccio, Cozze alla Triestina (Mussels in white wine) and the Costoletta di Vitello alla Joe (Joe's Veal Chop) which came with Caesar Salad. Overall Ok but probably wouldn't return, especially if trying to catch a train or show. We had a 6:15 reservation- table wasn't ready so we were ushered into the bar area with 15-20 other waiting people. Everyone was on top of each other and I felt awful for the people eating at tables in that section- basically had people inches away from you on all sides. We were sat about 10 minutes late, 6:25, and didn't get menus until 6:30. We all chose to do the "famous" pasta option. Multiple tables who were sat after us received their salad first, and by 7 we finally had to inquire about our pasta as we had 30 minutes to leave to catch our train. The three options were brought out- spaghetti with tomato sauce was very good, but on par with a basic Italian restaurant. The lasagna style dish with the bechemel was amazing, the absolute highlight. Fussili primavera was horrible- couldn't tell if the starchy liquid was supposed to be a sort of sauce or just excess pasta water as it had no flavor. Literally had better food at a hospital cafeteria. We would have loved another helping of the bechemel and requested it, but it took so long for anyone to return that we had to leave. If you have a hard deadline, I'd request leaving more time to account as the restaurant seemed overbooked and service was slow. read more

Decent Italian restaurant a few blocks away from the theater district. The restaurant is pretty big (it's deceiving from the street) and they're really good about timing to make sure you can get to your show. They have an all-you-can-eat pasta option which was a good deal so our group of 4 did that. You just have no say over the 3 pastas they give you that day. We started with some appetizers (Caesar salad and a Mediterranean veggie platter). Both decent. The 3 pastas were a beet ravioli, linguini with bolognese and penne in a tomato basil sauce. All 3 were good, but not wow. I wish I got more bolognese sauce and the penne was flavorless. The beet ravioli was good, really different. For the location and price for what you get it was worth it but I know there are better Italian places in the city. read more

We were really disappointed in Becco as we have been to other Lidia-owned restaurants and were expecting a similar experience. There is only one pasta option on the menu which we thought was really weird. That option is a $40 all-you-can-eat () trio of pasta. The night we visited they had a seafood scampi pasta which was just seafood broth "sauce" with bits of shrimp and lobster in it. The other option was pasta with pesto. This was ok but very one note. The last option was artichoke ravioli. Some pieces of this were good and some weren't. No sauce on this one. They wouldn't let our 5 year old sample from our meals so they charged us $16 for a plate of water, butter and overcooked, flat noodles. read more

He responded very rudely when we asked for an extra menu and when we needed a bit of extra time to decide on our order. The place is slammed, I get it. It's on Broadway restaurant row, so at lunch time before the 2:00 matinee they are packed. I'm sure it's stressful, but that's not a reason to be mean. It put a damper on a dining experience that was supposed to be fun and relaxing. Because service is busy (and slow) it took a while to come over and take our order. I think it would be nice if they printed the rotating daily pasta specials out. That way, you could decide if it was something you wanted while you waited for the server. I went with the daily pasta which is three different pastas that rotate daily. For $30 you get an unlimited amount of pasta and a ceasar salad. They forgot to bring out the third pasta which was frustrating. Two out of three pastas were delicious. The bolognese sauce was so flavorful and tasted like it had been simmering for hours. The beet ravioli was standout and had hints of mint which was refreshing. The third pasta was very basic, just plain penne and sauce. Luckily I enjoyed the other pastas so much that the deal was still worth it. I also loved the chicken parm which was pounded thin and the size of an entire plate. I grew up coming to Becco for a pre-theater meal. I have fond memories of coming, but unfortunately my most recent visit put a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Becco is not your average Italian restaurant. Location in the heart of the theater district and on restaurant row, it's clear it's a local favorite. I'll take this moment to say, I love restaurant week in NYC because it allows me to try places that I probably would not even get a chance to with all the many restaurants out there to try. Becco happens to be such a restaurant. I didn't have the opportunity to truly enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant because I was in the mist of the Broadway dinner crowd; me being one of those as well. I have to mention this because if your going during the early evening you must be prepared to be in a crowd of other diners. Although, I felt as if I was elbow to elbow and sandwiched in with other, the food and service was outstanding. The portions are plentiful and you will leave the restaurant quite satisfied. The sauce is so authentic and the pasta was out of this world. I'm definitely looking forward to returning in the very near future. If you want authentic Italian food, Becco is the place for you, it will forever be for me. read more

I ordered the special veal piccata which came with a delicious and generous ceaser salad The fresh croutons in the salad were amazing. I ordered the midi pasta for $11. The pasta was to die for. The special pasta were a penne in tomato basil sauce, a fettuccine with a short rib ragu and a squash tortellini. I could have just had the pasta and the salad and been delighted. My friend ordered the special fish of the day and upgraded to a green salad. Our only complaint was that her salad was way overdressed. Ask for the dressing on the side. What an amazing dinner experience! Came here with my parents after a day at the auto show for lunch. Had certainly heard of the restaurant from TV and such but boy does it exceed any and all expectations. From the service to the food, everything was absolutely amazing. My parents, who are empty-nesters and get to dine out a little more frequently, had been here before and were immediately recognized by a member of the staff! My parents are regulars!! Haha! Came here for a very large group event and took up the backside of the restaurant and we were quite packed in around the tables, but staff did more than excellent servicing such a large crowd of people Servers: They all worked so hard. We had 3 pasta dishes: pappardelle with tomato, penne with short rib ragu, and beet/ricotta ravioli. OH wow, the pastas were cooked to perfection. I loved each of them. The short rib ragu was my favorite! I love beets so I loved the ravioli! The main dishes, I just don't like their chicken. The salmon was delicious and looked perfectly. The hanger steak was incredible, just not enough of it. The roasted root veggies perfect combination. Dessert I was sad. The bread pudding was dry and not good. The cheesecake tasted frozen. The atmosphere of this place is very nice. My mom and I got a really cozy spot past the bar and away from all the commotion. Our server was very very sweet and friendly. The bread wasn't that good, very tough. The salad, on the other hand, was excellent! It came with both our meals and was definitely the most memorable part of our dinner. For my meal, I ordered all you can eat 3 pastas. I only got 2/3 of the pastas, and that was after they substituted one of them for me (marinara) because I don't eat beef or pesto. The white cheesy pasta was wayyy to rich for my taste, so much so that I could only eat one bite. The marinara was better in my opinion and very tasty. My mom got the chicken parmigiana. I have now been to Becco twice (once in the before times, and once during the pandemic) and it's now my Go To pre- or post-theatre restaurant. I recommend it to anyone looking for a meal after they see or show or if they're in that part of Midtown. They have a deceptively large amount of space, have quick service for a theatre crowd, and the food is always delectable. They have outdoor seating too (a pandemic addition), which is great for people watching when the weather is good. They have Daily Pasta Preparations where you can order that and get unlimited pasta from the three varieties they made that day, it changes daily. If that isn't up your alley, the regular menu is also superb. My most recent time, I got a filet with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The fish was coated with potato flakes and it was so moist and delectable. The asparagus was tender, and the mashed potatoes were perfectly garlicky. I also love getting the panna cotta for dessert. Servers are always friendly and complimentary, have a lot of patience, and are experts on the menu. They'll help you pick an entree or a wine. I heard of Joe Bastianich after watching Masterchef. I've always liked his mother, Lidia Bastianich and her cooking show. This is actually her restaurant. And I'm sorry to say, that I was disappointed. I got there a bit early but was seated because we were scheduled to see a play. When you walk in, the host asks you if you are seeing a play and what time the play is. If you say "Yes", you are taken to a specific seating area with others who are also seeing plays. This area has expedited service to make sure you make your play on time. I got a glass of wine while waiting. When my husband showed up, we were immediately given complimentary bread. The bread tasted stale and dry. I'm not sure if it was supposed to taste like that, but it tasted off. Since my husband doesn't change, he ordered what he usually orders at Italian restaurants that don't serve pizza -- chicken parm. I ordered the Osso bucco, because I haven't had Osso bucco before and I was curious. When the food came, I didn't realize how large the portions were. The chicken parm was the size of his head. The osso bucco was the size of my head. It was also rich and had a lot of fat in it. I am not a fan of fat on meat, so I had to cut out a lot of the fat. And we were also rushing to eat. I couldn't finish my dish so I got it in a togo box. I hope maybe it was an off night. The restaruant is probably more well known for its Sinfonia Di Paste (Symphony of Pasta), which is their signature dish. It's table-side service of three different house pastas. It changes every night. Maybe when we're not in a rush and there are more people with us, I'll consider returning and trying the pasta dish. read more
