The soaring ceilings, stained glass, and original architecture make for one of the coolest brewery spaces I've been to around Indianapolis. We stopped in during the early afternoon, so it was nice and quiet. We were greeted right away, and our server was incredibly friendly. She walked us through the beer flights, made some great recommendations, and never made us feel rushed. The flights were also surprisingly affordable, which made trying a few different brews an easy decision. For lunch, I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries, while my friend went with the Italian sandwich. Both plates were generously portioned, and neither of us left hungry. The pulled pork was tender, flavorful, and piled high on the sandwich, while the fries were perfectly crispy alongside it. Between the quality of the food and the reasonable prices, it felt like an excellent value. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between historic and casual. TVs are scattered throughout if you're catching a game, music plays in the background, and despite the grand setting, it still feels comfortable enough to settle in for a while. Whether you're stopping by for a beer flight, lunch, or just to admire the incredible building, St. Joseph Brewery is well worth adding to your Indianapolis list. I'll definitely be back.

My wife and I split an ale burger and a pork katsu sandwich. The burger was dry and room temp, the cheese formed in place (as thought it was being kept at room temp). Fries were also room temp. Burger didn't have much flavor, and the bun was hard. The pork katsu sandwich lacked flavor. The top toast was soggy, and the bottom piece was hard as a rock. The slaw lacked any taste. Again, theme of the night, was also room temperature. Would have appreciated food being served hot, as all of the food was served lukewarm, though the place wasn't busy. Service wasn't the best, and people acted like they had better places to be. I'm not normally a harsh critic, but too much badness in one meal for me.

The flank steak fajitas were delicious and seasoned really well. The nachos were HUGE! I would've preferred a little more cheese and a little less salt, but could feed a family of four. Some places are just easy to settle into, and Fountain Square Brew Co. is one of them…read more A friend and I stopped in for a couple of craft beers after wandering Fountain Square, and before long we had claimed the dartboard (I lost...badly ), admired the local artwork, and soaked in the laid-back, industrial vibe. One of my favorite parts? They're dog-friendly. My friend's tiny sidekick was perfectly content with her own cup of water while we hung out, and she received plenty of smiles from everyone who walked by. The brewery has a real community feel. Local art covers the walls, live music is a regular thing, and even the bathroom chalkboard became part of the experience. Of course I couldn't resist leaving a message of my own. Good beer, good company, a few laughs, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer. I'd happily spend another afternoon here.

The bartenders are always helpful with sharing their current offerings. Metazoa is famously dog friendly, and 5% of profits go towards benefitting shelter dogs. They allow dogs inside the premises and have a dog park outside. The seating is a mix of high top and low tables with plenty of space for the whole crew.
