The tortilla soup was hearty, and came topped with a sliced half avocado and big dallop of crema to add richness. The food was great. Ordered the chicken tenders and it tasted fresh. The batter was light and crispy and the fries had a good seasoning. While the food was great, it was eclipsed by the extraordinary service that Monica provided. She was attentive to my needs. When there was a sauce that was out, she went to a neighboring restaurant to make sure I got the sauce I wanted. Exemplary customer service. Highly recommend coming back and hoping Monica is able to be my server again whenever I return. read more

I usually come here for a quick pre flight drink in the San Antonio airport. Relatively cheap prices, especially for an airport. Good beer selection. Usually plenty of seats. I've never eaten here, but I've seen the food and it looks pretty good as well. read more

Our family of 4 ordered a couple pizzas at the pizza place and noticed our connecting flight was delayed. My husband and I then decided we would like a beer so we walked down to BeerCode and I asked the hostess if we could bring outside pizzas in. She said yes and sat me. The server PAulo came over and got our drink order. I ordered my beer but my husband wasn't there yet to order his. Paulo dropped off my beer as soon as my husband brought in the outside food and Paulo just shook his head and gave us the dirtiest look. Enough for me to Explain that I asked the hostess and he didn't give me the time of day. Never did he ask my husband what he wanted to drink and he kept walking by us. I had to get his attention to order my husbands beer. He never asked if we wanted something else or anything. Little did he know, we were gonna order a salad and wings but his attitude made us sick and didn't want to cause him anymore disgust. We are good tippers and he didn't even deserve the $.47 we left him. No wonder he works in an airport restaurant. read more

After dealing with rude TSA staff a drink to unwind was very necessary. We stopped at beer code. My husband had a beer, I had a sweet tea, and we shared a Reuben sandwich. Service was great and so fast! The Reuben was so delicious! Perfect proportion of sauerkraut and meat. It was served with fries and a pickle. I would have liked more fries but it wasn't a big deal. I love the San Antonio airport for its ease. It's tiny. Its car rental pickup and drop off is easy. Security lines are short. But it doesn't have a lot in the way of bars and restaurants. There are two or so other small bars, but Beer Code is the largest bar the airport, and the best one to try if you're hoping for a drink and a TV to watch a sporting event. The Masters was on when I was flying home on Sunday, and I was able to get a table and a beer. I didn't try their food, but a lot of people were eating while I sat with my beer. Overall, not a bad place for a meal or a drink if you need a place to sit for a while at the airport. read more

Stopped in on my way to NOLA for a family visit with a sister who had been hospitalized. So I was not at my best. However the waitress was very friendly and helpful and promptly took my order. The restaurant was clean and not very busy. The food was tasty and the right temperature. I will definitely stop here again when traveling. read more

Half the service was good, half was terrible. When I arrived, I tried to sit down, but an older waitress directed me to another seat in the back because someone was supposedly sitting there -- which was confusing, because no one ever came. I ordered the omelet with bacon, jalapeños, tomatoes, cheese, salsa, and avocado -- but it was terrible. The potatoes that came with it tasted greasy, like they'd just been fried in old oil. The only good part of the experience was my mimosa and the waitress -- she was polite, attentive, and offered (Laura T ) . Morrissey hadn't graced San Antonio in over 10 years, with past cancellations and postponements haunting fans along the way. So when he finally returned, San Antonio Moz fans showed up and showed out. Despite multiple after-party options across the city, fans from Brazil, the UK, Canada, Japan, and all across the U.S. chose Bang Bang Bar as the place to be on a cold Saturday night. Hosted by local emcee Ricardo Moz and Apollo DJ, the night turned into one for the history books. Bang Bang Bar is easily one of Texas' best dive-lounge bars...the perfect blend of gritty and cozy. Great cocktail program, solid beer selection, and a vibe that just works. The décor leans heavy into a 1950s-60s lounge aesthetic, with intimate spaces like the Blue Room and Yellow Room, perfect for groups of 7-10. Low lighting, warm atmosphere, and zero pretension exactly what you want for a night like this. Bang Bang Bar consistently supports local and touring acts, spanning punk, alternative, and DJ-driven nights, and this Moz Smiths Disco was no exception. It was wall-to-wall classics all night long. The bar has a stage (we've seen FEA perform there) and they have ample seating (tables, couches, stools, etc). I also enjoy how each couch area is its own living room setup (think of what you see when shopping for couches/coffee tables) and feel/vibe. I make it a point to come and visit this bar any time I'm in San Antonio. We love supporting Phanie and her bands in any way possible. Girl in a Coma and FEA 4ever!

The first night I was greeted by a friendly host and sat at the bar, where Billy took great care of me. He recommended the Cotto e Salsiccia, and I'm so glad he did. It was easily one of the best pizzas I've had. While I was there, the cheesemaker let me try a bite of the fresh mozzarella they were making in-house. It was still warm and absolutely delicious. The next night I was feeling a little homesick after being away for work, and all I could think about was that pizza. I walked back in and the host greeted me by name. I sat at the bar again, where another bartender remembered me from the night before, and Billy came over just to say hi. It seems like such a small thing, but when you're traveling alone, being welcomed back like that can completely change your evening. What really impressed me was seeing that it wasn't just me. The guy next to me ordered two pizzas to go, and when the chef brought them out he smiled and said, "Oh, Jose! I thought this order looked familiar!" You can tell they actually know their regulars and genuinely enjoy what they do. The second night I ordered the Fontina e Salsiccia, and somehow it was just as good as the first pizza. Everything is cooked in the wood-fired oven--even the wings--and you can taste the difference. The crust has that perfect char, the ingredients are fresh, and it's the kind of authentic Neapolitan pizza that keeps you thinking about it long after you've left. I've eaten at a lot of good restaurants while traveling, but very few have made me feel as welcome as Dough did. Great food is one thing. Great people are what made me come back the very next day. When I asked why they have a hot plate shelf next to the entrance and that I burned my arm on it, the manager and greeter state? There is a sign! They took no responsibility for the ill placement of the sign! As you walk in, we saw several People back into the shelf to allow others to get buy! I can see a child burning their hand terribly on this! What did the restaurant do? Nothing... several times we suggested something be done and not until the manager realized that yes, this is a problem did he do something remotely responsible. I couldn't enjoy the food! I was upset? Hurting and taken back by the terrible way they handled the situation. For reference, I'll show you the picture with the barrier.

I had the pleasure of eating at Beercode recently, and I can't say enough about the experience. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting. Our server, Monica, was absolutely fantastic! She greeted us with a big smile and was attentive throughout the entire meal. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. It's rare to find such outstanding service, and Monica truly went above and beyond to make our lunch special. The food was incredible, and thanks to Monica's excellent service, we had a memorable day. If you find yourself with a massive gap in your schedule--we had about a 4-hour window to kill--this is the spot. Being stuck in an airport or between plans can be a drag, but the atmosphere here made the time fly by. The staff didn't make us feel rushed at all, which we really appreciated given how long we stayed. It's a great place to just hang out, grab a table, and relax.
