What better way to get into the Halloween season that a visit to beetle house? Themed based on the show Beetle Juice show and also has appearances from Edward Scissorhands! The drinks all have a spooky twist and a great presentation! We went on a weekday, as the weekends are probably super busy this time of year! If you make reservations, you will automatically enroll in their 3 course meal, but if you don't want to go with that option they grabbing a bar seat as it's walk in! .

Deliciousness - 3.5/5 Happiness - 5/5 This is a must-visit for fans of the macabre in New York. A really memorable dinner experience with great decor, singers/actors, and decent food. We happened to be there on "slasher" night, meaning Ghostface (from Scream), Michael Meyers (from Halloween) and Patrick Bateman (from American Psycho) were there to stalk and sing. They chose appropriate songs (Ghostface doing "Call Me Maybe" was my favorite) and interacted equally well with my kids as me. Hearing Meyers do a muffled through his mask rendition of "When I Come Around" drew legitimate laughter. And I was really impressed that the Bateman actor had printed out business cards for the audience members - I love that commitment to deep cut references (IYKYK). I spent plenty of time wandering the restaurant to look at the decor. And all of us from aged 9-41 had a really good time. The food is beautiful to look at and thoughtfully plated to match the theme (my favorite was gazpacho served in the skull of a baby - real Indiana Jones Temple of Doom vibes!). All of the food was just OK (a bit on the cold side and not much in the flavor department). But we were there more for the vibes and there are plenty of other NY options for foodies. So I don't mind getting some OK food for one meal in exchange for some fantastic vibes and a great time. I will give a shoutout to the drinks. My kids got a literal beetlejuice (juice with what I assume were fake insects inside) and I enjoyed a Frankenstein-themed drink that came with mist pouring out of it and served in a beaker and vial. Be prepared to spend a big chunk of cash between the dinner cost (prix fixe menu and price), extras (drinks and photos), and well earned tips by the performers. But it's NYC so this applies to basically everything in the Big Apple LOL. I would definitely visit this ghoulish haunt again!

My friends and I visited Beetle House earlier this year, and absolutely loved it! The decor was awesome, servers were attentive and quick with our orders, the performers entertained wonderfully, and the food was surprisingly delicious. Usually, with themed restaurants I find the food to be average or straight up bad, but Beetle House had truly delicious food. I enjoyed everything we had as part of our 3 course meal, which was such a good deal with nice sized portions. If you love spooky movies, themed restaurants, or Tim Burton, please do yourself a favor and visit Beetle House!

Food was good; I haven't had a good chocolate cake in a while. Salmon and mashed potatoes were really good. Out waiter Timmy was excellent, attentive and friendly; provided great service. We really liked that this place offered unlimited soda refills. Ambiance was very chill and loved the costumes (visited close to Halloween). There was a performance every half hour (Edward scissorhands was my fav!) Def worth a visit especially during the holiday.

I loved the food for the most part, service was amazing, ambience was spectacular!! The vegan burger could have been better but still really good. You're mostly going for the vibe and not the food anyways lol. Definitely pricey but only worth it for one of those special occasion "only doing once" type of things.

I have quite a few thoughts and opinions about this spot, so let me break it off into some categories. Atmosphere - 3.5/5 - I loved the look of the bar, and I loved the decor. I think the art on the wall and the pieces they added to make it very Halloween-esque were great. However, and it's unfortunately, the way the space is built, but it is extremely narrow at BeetleHouse. Essentially, they have a wall separator that separates the bar from the dining area, and it makes it so very hard for both people and actors alike to walk up and down. There is also a little back room area and when the actors go over there, if you are in the front, you can't see what they're performing. You just hear them singing. And vice versa. I feel like that takes away from the experience because of the way the area is built. They also encourage exploring, but it's kind of hard to when people are eating right in front of the thing you want to see, and it's already narrow as it is. Actors - 4.5/5 - The actors were so exceptional and honestly, they really did work with what they had. The makeup was great, the singing was good, but what really made it where the individual interactions they did with people at the tables. It was my cousin's birthday and Beetlejuice in the most Beetlejuice way took pictures with us. Lydia and Emily from corpse bride was there that day and they were cutting his ass the whole time, which was hilarious honestly, what went against them is the fact that the house is built the way it is. But they did what they could! Food - 4/5 - I read mixed reviews about the food so I didn't have high expectations when I got there. Now, I do think it is quite expensive, but you also need to remember you're paying for dinner and a show essentially, so the prefix menu makes sense. As for the food itself, I had the mac & cheese, the Bolognese, and a chocolate cake. The Bolognese was OK, I could've done for more meat and sauce, but when I ate it the next day for leftovers with grated Parmesan cheese, for some reason, it was so much better! The chocolate cake was a bit too much and too chocolatey for me, but that's just my opinion. The mac & cheese, however, FIRRRRRREEEEEE. That was some of the creamiest mac & cheese I've ever had. I did not expect the mac & cheese to be so damn good, but if I worked there, that would be the only thing I'd ever eat all the time and I'd turn into a mac & cheese ball. Overall -I'd say, if you are curious, totally go at least once. I had a great experience, and I think, though the bar does sound like it plays on a gimmick, they do a really good job of making it a true authentic experience.

Hubby & I were celebrating our anniversary & decide to come out & get into the Halloween spirit & u do the minute u walk in, gotta love the atmosphere & decor of the place it's cool & fun. Price fix menu is now $65 pp which is not bad, specialty cocktails are about $16-18 "normal" these days! Drinks we tried The Beetles juice , Oogie boogie nightcap, This is Halloween & Coco Skellngton all decent in taste & not bad on the alcohol. Appetizer Jacks Jambalaya risotto was good w a spicy kick to it , the Cheshire Mac & cheese so good, nice & creamy. Main dishes Edward burger hand , was delicious, very big, messy but good great fries & the Poultrygeist , chicken & Brussels sprouts was very good , the pure was ok for me. On the dessert , Pumpkin king cheese cake & Dread pudding , were both very good I liked the dread pudding the best the combo w the ice cram was just the right amount of sweet & savory. As u dine, characters are going around interacting with everyone, they sing & dance it's fun to watch they seem to put a nice effort into keeping the crowd entertain. Service is very good, they are very attentive. This is obviously not an everyday dinning experience as the price w cocktails can be on the high side but it's doable, enjoyable we enjoyed our drinks, food & the show!

Came back again 2x since the review - Beetlejuice was there each time with Liv and Bob. No fire breathers though. Smells so good! And food/drinks are still great - they keep their menu fresh. Service was excellent! I came with a bigger group including kids and everyone had such an amazing time.

I would go to hang out but not eat really

Atmosphere was amazing bc I'm a HUGE Tim Burton fan. Waitstaff was ok they seemed rushed even tho it's 65.00 a head for 90 minutes of food and entertainment. The performers were amazing. We saw Sweeny Todd (kept in character the whole time but still talkative) Mrs Lovett spot on (cheeky) Betelgeuse himself hilarious. Food was way overpriced for the quality but the show made up for it.

The ambience was phenomenal! The service was great! The food was adequate! Such a cute place to watch halloween acts!

Beetle house was fantastic. It reminded me of those summer nights in my early 20's ; Where my friends, and I would go into the city for fun dinners on a whim. Beetle house was whimsical ,and fun. My inner child loved the performances. The food was pretty good comfort food. My brother chose this place for a late dinner, and it did not disappoint. I also enjoyed their pop up next door called creep crust. Definitely come here, and have an open mind and enjoy!!

I love Halloween and I love Tim Burton so of course I had to come here especially as we were travelling to NYC with my friend's goth teenage daughter and trying to find things she might like. First off, the decor in this place is impeccable. There are so many nods to Tim Burton's movies, it's like a treasure hunt to find all little easter eggs from the movies. The menu is pre-fix so you choose an appetizer, entree and dessert for a flat fee. They had enough to choose from that everyone was able to find something they liked, even my picky child. They serve the drinks with dry ice, so they come to you smoking, but really, really cold. I didn't trust the dry ice so I plucked it out of my drink. It was literally freezing my throat. What I didn't know is that they have entertainers dressed as Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands come around to each table which makes me...uncomfortable. I guess I should have read the yelp reviews before we went! All in all food was good but expensive. Atmosphere was incredible, and if you're a theater kid, you will love it.

We came during Christmas Jack show! AMBIANCE: nice photos and other small decor. I would have liked to see way more lighting and the Christmas tree was underwhelming. STAFF: Amazing! From Lydia to Jack they were all engaging and witty! Lydia's singing voice blew me away. They make the price worth it. FOOD: I loved the Mac n cheese, and the meat dishes were yummy. The drinks were strong and tasty. Desert was nothing special. Food came fast hot and ready. CLEANLINESS: Average NOISE: nice low music. They do a great job of turning it up during show time and lowering it during food service. You can have a conversation here and enjoy the show OVERALL: I loved the experience and would definitely come back for Christmas. We did the 3 course meal for 65 PP and all-in spent $102 PP including tax and tip (18% gratuity is included). And it was awkward when the waitress asked for additional tip if we would like to tip only her. Try to grab the seats by the entry or center.

Do Characters only come out during the evening reservations?

Is the Beetlejuice character performing every day of the week?

I'm not to sure. As per Beetlejuice himself in one of the performances it's 4 nights a week. Now I don't if each night it's a different performances with different characters. Maybe it's just Beetlejuice more because of the new movie. I hope this… Read more

    Is there a kids menu?

I don't think so however be aware that the menu is a pre fixed price. $60 per person and they add gratuity on. Honestly the food is just fair.

    What is parking like?

If you go on a Sunday there's a better chance of getting street parking. During the week don't bother unless it's after 7pm.

Does anyone have a pic for f the kids menu? The website says to ask your server.

Are there any fun mocktails available?

As of Aug 2024, they have 3 cocktails that can be made as mocktails. My son had the Beetle Juice and loved it! Their drink menu is on their website. The starred drinks can be made non-alcoholic.

Do the characters come out during the day hours 4-6 or only at night? If I go on Saturday at 5pm, is it too packed to sit?

Our reservation was at 4pm on a Thursday. A magician did one trick (it was very good) and Edward Scissorhands sang a song and took some pics with people.

I made a reservation for Wednesday, but it says they don't open until Thursday. I received an email confirmation and a text confirmation for my reservation. can someone please help?

Send them an email they respond very quickly info@beetlehousela.com

What time do you guys close today (10-14-22) and do you guys accept walk ins?

2am walk ins for the bar no food but can do take out

Can you just walk in and get a table for drinks? Or if you get a table do you have to order food. I'm looking to go with friends but don't want to sit at the bar and don't want to pay the $$$ per person since we're not eating there

They do walk ins for drinks only bar and they have seats outside

Can my kids share a meal?

The portions are suitable enough for kids not needing to share & most def bring the kids. Older ones will enjoy it more though.

Is vaccine still required to enter?

No vaccine card needed to be shown, we went there this past Saturday for dinner, 3/19/22.

What is on the price fixe menu?

50 but your check will be over 300 with service charge and auto gratuity

    Is there parking available?

Beetle House has no parking. Your options are street or a parking lot/garage.

What characters are they dressed up as - is there a pennywise character👀?

Lol- Tim Burton, not Tim Curry. But the characters I've seen in there have been Beetlegeuse,, Jack & Sally, Edward Scissorhands, Willy Wonka & Corpse Bride :)

Are you charged the $50 fee per person after your meal or before? Also, can you pay with a different card besides the one used to book reservation?

The $50 is for your meal, so it's included in your bill. The last time I was there (pre-covid), you were able to pay other ways. The credit card being needed to book was held incase of cancellation for charges. I'm going tomorrow though, so I can… Read more

One app, one entire and dessert per person.

Is it one fixed price for the whole meal?

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

The speakeasy vibe and the dark ambiance really makes this place feel even more exclusive. With just a few tables and the bar setting, you're in for an experience you won't forget (unless you answer the wrong questions and really end up with a drink you don't like HA). This wasn't my case. Of course I described my two favorite things: Negroni + mezcal. The obvious answer would be a mezcal Negroni, but that's not why one comes to a place like Attaboy. Our amazing curator came by to ask us all a few questions, write down a few words in the napkins, and mix up the perfect drink that our master bartender crafts, curates and creates. My drink came as I couldn't possibly imagine. It looked like a Negroni smelled like Oaxaca, with all the smoke simmering up and preparing my sensory experience, leading to the best first sip. Ladies and gentleman, I introduce you to The Devil's Backbone. A perfectly balanced drink I'll never forget, one that is sipped slowly and enjoyed thoroughly. It's sexy, it's smoky it's sipped. Attaboy gave the best mixology experience and we can't wait to be back. Pro tip: be sure to be as vocal as possible, even with ice, so you don't end up with a tiki drink if that's not your vibe.

Mood lighting, comfortable seating, great drinks in a cozy and Victorian-inspired space are the perfect blend of unique and. I always felt like I was part of something special the few times enjoyed creative, delicious, and strong libations from the pros at the bar. While it has always been pricey, I do feel like the excellent service ambiance, and drink quality warrant this, but may prevent more folks from becoming regulars so to speak. I love the clever and compact bathroom design, too. IYKYK Long live Apotheke!

I could tell you to look for the blue beaker sign that says "Chemist" but the better tell is the random guy sitting on a stool outside. He'll be the only person on the street, so no worries about missing him! The menu has changed over the years, but the quality has not. The bartenders are social and personable. And the prices are in line for the area. My bestie and I loved the vibe. One of the best speakeasies she's had the pleasure of experiencing. Don't miss out on this place!
