Great menu. Good and interesting ingredients without being too fancy. Really delicious sandwiches. We had pesto chicken and pulled pork sandwiches. Both were very large and very good (quantity AND quality). Coffee was only thing that was so-so (milk to espresso ratio way too high in my iced latte). Service was good. What a find! We're from Florida and looking for lunch stumbled across BTC. Gave it a try and were blown away. Nice environment after we figure out the program to order from an extensive menu. Great soups to choose from, delicious sandwich, many choices of coffee and topped off with great kosher pickle! Also good cookies to eat on the road. Helpful staff! Tried this place for lunch because the reviews seemed decent for a sandwich. Went in and it was obviously the granola cruncher- hipster hangout some of the reviews mentioned. Walked to the back where the menu board appeared to be and took a look at the menus on the counter. Decided on our meal and stood by the counter to order. The woman behind the counter worked away on the register for a bit then said if we wanted to order to go up front. Ok... Maybe a sign?! I had the loaded BLT on rye, wife had a pick two salad/half sandwich meal. Opened up my sandwich and immediately was not what I had envisioned. Cold untoasted bread, cold cheese. Ok... I kind of pictured like a grilled or toasted bread with melted cheese served warm like a BLT usually is. The sandwich was honestly the worst BLT I have ever had. And for 10 bucks.. Really?! No single flavor stood out at all. I struggled even to taste the bacon. The bread was dried out. My wifes sandwich was the same story. Blan. Cold dried out bread... She did like the salad but the tomatoes were flavorless. For the 20+ something dollars we paid for our meal without even any drinks I would have expected much more. I should have gone down to that chain sandwich place just across the street. Overall 1.5 stars. Would never go back to this place. read more

This place is a cute breakfast/lunch spot in town. A lot of the locals seem to come here and it's a very friendly and inviting place. Staff makes sure you're invited with a smile when walking in. Food is good and very fresh. The only negative I can say is the prices, they're a bit on the high side even for myself and I work in manhattan. Overall, the place is a gem, must go. Really excellent little cafe off of Hwy 1. We stopped in on our way to Salem looking for a local place with good vegetarian options and we were it disappointed. I got the Hawaiian sandwich on ciabatta and the soup of the day (bacon scallop) and my partner got the egg salad sandwich. They were both delicious! The combo of flavors on my sandwich were perfect and my partner ate his egg salad sandwich super fast so I can he liked his too. The soup was also excellent. The food is good but the service could be a whole lot better. There were 6 employees but none of them were really paying attention to the customers walking in. Customers were walking in, not knowing where the menus are and which counter to order at. One of the employees should greet each customer and offer a menu or they need a big menu board. An "Order Here" sign should hang above the appropriate counter. Employees need to face their customers, say hello and pay attention. The glass surfaces and floor are filthy. One of the six employees should be devoted to cleaning. Obviously, the owner cares about providing good service or else there wouldn't be such a large staff. The staff needs to take initiative. With a little management this place could be great. read more

I get that it's tourist season, but even when we went during the winter the employees acted bothered by us. We will still continue to go because it's cute and the food is good... So glad we stopped here while driving along route 1 from Bar Harbor to Portland. We wanted something a little different and this place hit the spot. They have really good sandwiches, especially the trap salmon on rye. The baked goods are tasty but make sure what they have was made that day as we found great items were fresh but older items were not so good. Bell the Cat did a fantastic job from the time I made the inquiry over the phone to the last coffee served. They listened to what I needed on the menu and provided me with a fair quote. They worked with the venue, even assuring they visited the site prior to the event to make sure everything was planned. The spread they provided was amazing and everyone is talking about the salmon hash brown..yummy! They even assured the left overs were packed and sent away to the family. Every detail, even the flavored coconut coffee was well thought out. The service was also awesome..owner was there with his crew to assure we were happy.
