I just wanted to say thank you so much to the employees working today for being incredibly kind and patient with me. I walked in 10 mins before closing to order a waffle after they have already cleaned the grill. I felt so bad cause I understand how frustrating it is to have to reheat a grill and then cook one thing just to reclean it again. The service here is amazing and the employees are awesome too. I usually get the breakfast wrap and a bagel. They make sure to give you your monies worth and always get you out the door quickly. The most friendliest and wonderful service I ever had during my stay in Chico, CA. Not only that, it has the BEST coffees in the world. It's one of my favorite spots now. I enjoy eating their breakfast and wraps. I have to say that I am impressed. This was my first time here, I got a Salted Caramel blended latte and grilled Bagel sandwhich with bacon, turkey, cheese and eggs, and it was the best bagel sandwhich I've ever had. I was a little skeptical when we drove up but the food was incredible! The bacon waffle was the waffle I never knew I needed. It was so light and fluffy and the butter and the syrup were superb. The warm blueberry muffin with frosting was the cherry on top. If I ever come back to Chico, this place will be my first stop. read more

Everything I had hoped for. Read the reviews and decided to come by. Out of the way for us, but worth it. We had a cold sandwich, Tanga-licious. So much goodness, with loads of turkey, bacon, avocado, smoked Gouda cheese, etc. Delicious... Also the warm turkey berry sandwich, has cream cheese, cranberries and fresh spinach. OMG, delish. Patio is inviting, lots of plants, a fountain, umbrellas, loved it. We go to brunch every Friday. Will definitely be back, dare I say new regulars? I went to beatniks this morning for a breakfast burrito and I am wowed. I order a small nonfat mocha, a beatnik's burrito, and an apple pie scone. All I can say is wow. The mocha was creamy and hot, the burrito was hot and filled with beans egg and potatoes (of course smothered in the salsa and sour cream they gave me), and the scone was so sweet and moist. Not to mention the employees were all happy to be there with smiles on their faces'. What an amazing place to stop into. Starbucks doesn't have jack on beatnik's. We've been wanting to try dinner there, having loved their brunches and lunches. Not impressed with dinner. My salad had way too much dressing, just soggy. My salmon that was rolled up in proscuitto - which I had asked to be "well-cooked all the way through" - arrived with the inside NOT cooked. Finally it was brought back to me, well-cooked, after my husband was nearly finished, and I had eaten most of my pasta side dish. Turned out the salmon must have been salted before wrapping in proscuitto, as it was too salty for my taste. Our waitress was obviously trying very hard, but she seemed ill-at-ease and awkward in all our interactions. We ordered two desserts that we shared, which were both very good and not overly sweetened - the mixed berry pie with ice cream and the pecan pie with whipped cream. Of course, the food is fantastic. Lunch is very good, dinner is a culinary experience - I have actually over-eaten by finishing my meal because it is so good. The place is hip and different, I like the atmosphere. Music is nice and the seating variety provides something for everyone. That said, the service is pretty lacking. When you do finally get someone to pay attention to you, they are very nice. But when I wait more than 15 min and nobody even speaks to me, I feel like they could care less about whether I am there or not. It's not good when you feel like you need to order a 2nd glass of wine when dinner comes just to be sure you don't sit there without wine to enjoy with the meal. This place could be so much more than it is. When I first moved to Cal Park I was so excited to have a cafe close by but after a couple of meals, my excitement began to wane. They have a few good offerings like the Brie LT and some tasty salads but their seating is awful, and like another reviewer mentioned, very uncomfortable and the place never looks clean - the decor is shabby and very disorganized looking (they really need to lose the carpeting). With a few tweaks it could be a great little place. If I were the owner I would hire someone to help with the decor, it really is a turn off. We were initially excited when they got their liquor license and opened for dinner but after two dinners in a shabby setting, it just wasn't appealing to us. I'm not sure why this place has such high reviews..I met my friend here for brunch based on the reviews with high expectations, the menu options were scarce and confusing, lacked description, our server wasn't helpful. One friend ordered a "sausage scramble" which ended up being a side of plain scrambled eggs and a sausage patty. Another friend ordered a "chicken and cheese wrap" which she was asked if she wanted grilled so she expected grilled chicken and melted cheese maybe some lettuce or other veggies, she really should've asked since there was no description...because it was chicken salad..which is made to be served cold so when the "grilled" it was just weird and lukewarm chicken salad which is chopped up chicken, mayo (I think) celery onions etc., so really it should have been called a "chicken salad wrap". She thought it was gross. I liked my iced coffee, and the lemon cookie was good. Other than that though, it was a poor experience, they didn't even have to go boxes. My friend was going to take wrap home to her fiancé (my brother) since he will eat anything...I would grab coffee if I lived super close to this place MAYBE, but would never recommend eating here. read more
