All white and all marbles mixed with dark casual woods. It's my kinda spot. You come here for food!! Or drinks! Or their coffee. The cakes are so decadent. On rainy days ( now that we have so many), all you need is a latte and their one of many cakes to warm you up from the rain!! Cafe side is great. But their wine bar : eve better! I've shown up several times at 7AM and even up to 15 minutes later. But, you are not open and the door is locked. People are inside, but they don't appear ready to serve customers. I only have a limited amount of time and have been going to Arosa next door since they are open and prepared to serve food and coffee. Second factor, marble marble marble! My first impression about this bakery was alot of marble in their interior and furniture. Which gives it a classy and elegant look overall. Third factor, the goodies they offered in their showcases looking tasty and the size was pretty big! There are a variety of different kinds of buns and croissants to choose from. I got the chocolate croissant and a raspberry brioche bun, both of them were really good in taste and texture. THE ROSES: Really nice looking space; as other Yelpers have noted, it just LOOKS like it belongs on some quiet side street in Paris. Pleasant staff makes good coffee drinks, and the pastries look quite good. Had a macaroon; it was OK, but hardly what I'd call the 'best in Seattle'. THE THORNS: A bit spendy for what you're getting (nearly $5 for a petite fours?), but BE caters to a crowd that probably isn't worrying about where the next payment on the Tesla is coming from, so mach nicht. NEITHER ROSE NOR THORN: Fun place to people watch. They say the rich are not like us. I suppose not. From what I could see from the clientele was a rather fussy bunch, and more than a little precious. Hanging out at BE can sometimes feel like being in a "Portlandia" sketch. I wouldn't recommend it. Their macs looked huge, not sure why I didn't try them aside from it being risky trying them at a new place. We brought home a sampling of macarons as well. I wasn't too excited, mostly because the flavors on this particular day didn't entice me. I think we got vanilla, honey, mocha, pistachio, raspberry, and strawberry...so, good flavors but not particularly exotic. I had the honey one and it was SUBLIME. Coffee is terrific! Nice smooth taste. The coconut cake was also a favourite of mine and I made sure to order after reviews on Yelp. Very flavorful and fresh. Macarons I did not care much for so I was disappointed. Nothing bad and nothing good just meh. Atmosphere is great! Cute, simple and clean. Adjacent to the shop is a place to shop for more treats including wine, chocolate and other tastey treats. A fun place to bring your friends or yourself and enjoy the atmosphere and sweet treats. I have gone to Belle Epicurean for many years and have always enjoyed their bakery items and sandwiches. Last Saturday I purchased five cakes for a dinner event and a biscuit. Initially I could not get anyone to help me. I literally had to go to the cash register twice and ask to be helped since no one would come down to the end of the display case where the cakes were located that I wanted to purchase. One staff member looked at me and just turned her head away. The second staff member didn't acknowledge me, and the third staff person after asking again if someone could help me finally acknowledged me and unwillingly helped me. I paid a 15% tip which I should not have done. When paying for my order I thought the charge was a lot higher than it should have been and asked for a receipt. After doing this the staff member said she had accidentally over charged me for two extra cakes and said she'd apply the credit. I saw the credit amount on their point of sale processor and asked if I needed to do sign for or do anything to process the credit. I was told there was nothing I needed to do. However, after the terrible service and clear over charge I felt something was still wrong. Two days I check my bank account and the original purchase cleared my bank but not the credit. I was scammed. I will never go back to Belle Epicurean. Terrible service, rude staff, and deliberate overcharging me for items I did not order. read more

Their pastries seem to continue to shrink while the price expands. The service is a solid 'meh'. If you order a coffee be prepared to wait until your next birthday. Which is baffling, as the barista is typically in a flurry of motion like they're fabricating a car. Steaming, swooshing, pounding, grinding, and wiping.....yet, nothing ever comes out.... It's like watching the ticket agents at the airport; you ask for a seat change, and suddenly they have to re- program the whole system. This place is the highest price, for the lowest quality. But it feels overall pretty worn down and beaten up...dirty tables and rickety chairs on their patio outside...just a lack of attention to detail that would be relatively quick to fix. I loved the french bakery atmosphere of this cafe. There was a great selection of baked goods, as well as real food! They have a large selection of delicious macarons, which are my personal favorite. Don't believe other 5 star reviews! Do not eat here! I can't give it zero stars or I would! We went in the morning and, unfortunately, chose to stay. The details: prices were outrageously high, baked items were very small. What any other bakery would call a "mini-croissant" cost $5.50 for pathetically tiny 3 inch croissant. (I measured!) A similarly diminutive almond croissant was $6.25! Quality was also poor: greasy, soggy under-raised baked good, not flaky or crispy and as another reviewer noted, was burned on the endsand soggy in thye middle. My wife asked about a breakfast sandwich and was told it had an egg in it, in addition to the ham and cheese, so she ordered one. Guess what? No sign of any egg, just greasy half melted cheese and some inedible "ham". Service, too, was sub-standard. After an unreasonably long wait for items visibly available in the baked goods case, I was given someone else's order, and had to point out that it was not what I ordered, then direct the sales person to select what I had originally ordered from the case. I am VERY disappointed in the whole operation! Get it together, or go out of business! read more

This location blows the dark and cramped downtown Belle Epicurean out of the water! It's a brightly lit space with plenty of chairs, classy marble table tops and a display case with macrons for miles and brioches for days. Walking in, you get a strong waft of butter and sugar, mingled with coffee and and air of refinement. I love the croissants from downtown, but this Madison Park space is all about brioches! Lemon, caramel pecan, cinnamon, orange, banana...there's even a brioche happy hour from 5 - closing (6:30pm). Although I came in for the pastries and coffee, I couldn't help but notice their amazing brunch menu with baked souffle pancakes and boeuf bourguignon. Definitely something to try on subsequent visits. I can see the location as a PERFECT place for a breakfast after a jaunt in the park, an afternoon coffee with friends, an early evening rendez-vous with co-workers or a quick stop to bring home snacks for the family.
